You’ll never want to go to the swamps after reading this book. Starts out with two families, one is very twisted crazy and a lie that traps tourist on a swamp tour in hell.
A nice combination/homage to Deliverance/Wrong Turn. I was entertained and couldn’t put it down. The characters were consistent throughout the story. It’s captivated me enough to explore other stories from this author.
Very dramatic. Things go horribly wrong very quickly. There’s no time for the 12 stages of grief – run for your life!
i found myself immersed in this story of backwoods traditions, and bayou justice.
A good thriller. The bad guys are an interesting lot, and the deaths are surprising. You’ll never be able to guess who lives and die

This is my first read of anything by this author.
Horror can come wrapped differently depending on the author’s approach and intent and their skill in the delivery. Allow me to try to illustrate with references to movies that you likely have seen (at least one of). Both are similar in that the characters are facing an unrelenting force that is almost beyond comprehension, and beyond their ability to deal with.
Alien. Even if a Sci Fi fan rather than a horror fan, odds are pretty good that if you are reading horror novels, you’ve probably seen it. Many people might not know that a key scene had to be edited because it was too much for the advanced viewers to handle. Can you guess which one? It’s when the scruffy engineer is walking through the room with dangling chains and wires, dripping water, steam obscuring your vision at times, and music playing quietly and unsettling as a backdrop. The viewer knows something is about to happen…and it doesn’t…and it doesn’t…and it doesn’t… then WHAM. In the original cut, that scene was significantly longer building the tension to a level unbearable by the audience. That is horror.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Likely haven’t watched this unless you are a blood and gore horror fan. Same sort of relentless evil that is after the characters. Some “jump out and say ‘BOO’ ” scares, but most of the horror comes from the awareness of how bad things really are because you’ve already seen how bad they can be and it’s just a matter of time…
Both horror. Obviously both scary. Both very different. You might like one or the other, or both, or neither. Even if it is neither you can acknowledge the horror in each one.
This is a story about fear, cowardice, lies that set unstoppable events in motion, and the resolution of it all. Feuding swamp families, pythons, ‘gators, swamp tours, bad luck, bad decisions…
Did you notice in the writeup about the author on Amazon, he’s a really big fan of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Just askin’
This is a story about two rivaling families living in the everglades. Things really go south after a lie, resulting in murders. A group of people end up in the wrong place at the wrong time leading to a horrific encounter. This is very much a ‘boy who cried wolf’ story, and I loved it. I found my heart racing in each intense altercation! The ending couldn’t have been better. The best news of all? The author wrote a second book, and I can’t wait to read it!
Kept me up all night…terrifying
Jeff’s stories are very twisted, but are quite a fun ride indeed!
Disturbingly-fantastic and shockingly-twisted! Every time I opened my Kindle, “Dueling Banjos” started to play in my head. The sequel has a lot to live up to. Looking forward to reading it, next!
Both Wildlife books are very good!
Good read, good writer. I bought another book by Mr. Menapace and enjoyed that one too.
Predictable
I if you like Gators, swamps, and a really screwed up back woods family, this book is for you. PS say hello to granny for me
