In the second novel in the Wildflower House series, the author of The Memory of Butterflies reminds us that to achieve our dreams, we must first open our hearts.Kara Hart suffered overwhelming heartache when she lost her mother and husband, and her father’s sudden death might be the blow that breaks her—unless she turns her grief into purpose. She’ll finish renovating his Victorian mansion in … Victorian mansion in rural Virginia, but with her own twist. She’ll turn the old house into a creative retreat for artists and writers.
Kara has never tackled a project this big alone, and she’s not ready to open her heart to others for help. But the locals open their hearts to her—including two who have the potential to be more than friends. She tells herself she doesn’t need romance or distractions, but maybe that’s exactly what she needs. When her former best friend reenters Kara’s life, it could be the distraction that finally destroys her—or heals her.
The tragedies in Kara’s life have damaged her self-confidence, but she presses forward, gradually lowering her protective walls and allowing others in little by little. Will bringing Wildflower House back to life and freeing her own creative spirit also allow her to open her heart to hope and happiness—and maybe even love?

Kara and her father had big plans for Wildflower House, the large Victorian house that he purchased in Virginia. When he died, she was unsure if she could go on with his plans so she plans to make the house into a artist’s retreat. There’s a lot of renovation that needs to be done and as the house takes on a new life, so does Kara. She realizes that she has friends all over the small town area and that she has friends in her past who are willing to regain their friendships. I really enjoyed reading about Wildflower House and Kara again and hope that we see them in future books – I’m not ready to say goodbye for good.
“Wildflowers are tough. They root in unlikely, often hostile environments, yet they manage to grow and bloom.” This quote not only refers to flowers but also to people’s lives. You can find happiness no matter where you are.
A beautifully written addition to the Wildflower series as Kara continues to find out who she is and work on her dreams coming true. Beautiful Virginia landscape, a wonderful old house being renovated, along with a carriage house, and new and old relationships to heal and explore, all make this wonderful story come alive. Wildflower House is definitely a place I would love to go and know the people in Karas life. Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the ARC
Wildflower Hope was a pleasure to read it deals with struggles and issues we all have felt or dealt with in our lives. Kara’s father had purchased wildflower house and she had moved in with him to heal and have a new start in their relationship. Her father dies unexpectedly and she is lost but the one thing she is sure of is holding on to wildflower house. She learns with help that it’s okay to let go of the past and move on, don’t let doubt and fears create unnecessary problems. Trust your instincts and live in the moment. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did. The characters will not only touch your heart but stay with you.
Wildflower Hope by Grace Greene is the second book in the Wildflower House series. The death of Kara Hart’s father is still fresh. And she is trying to come to terms with the loss of her friends. She has taken on the restoration project her father started before his unexpected death. There are many reasons that l liked this book. The main character, Kara, the location and the storyline to name a few. I did not feel the emotional connect as I did in Wildflower Heart. In my opinion, too much time was given to Kara’s introspection and relationship with her girlfriend. However, it was still a good book that I enjoyed and I would recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy of this book for my honest opinion.
Wildflower Hope is book two in the series and I jumped for joy when it became available because I loved book one so much! It can be a stand alone, but the first one, as with the second, was so beautifully written, you would miss out on a lovely heart touching story!
In book two we find Kara reeling from another loss and she has decided to keep her dad’s big rambling house and make a retreat for artists. Lots of tears, laughter, friendships, love and discovery of secrets ensue!
I loved how this was a story about her, sometimes painful, self discovery of who she is and what she wants! Almost like a rebirth! The budding romance was so sweet to watch! Grace Greene ‘s writing is magic. I got involved from the first sentence and had problems tearing myself away from the book to do anything else! The descriptions of the surroundings were so real, I felt I were there. The characters were very likeable and I could identify with them.
The book earns a 5 from this grateful fan and I am in wait for the next story!
This is the second book in the Wildflower House series. It can be read as a standalone as well. I enjoyed this story as it’s shows the real life emotions of grief, strength and resilience that Kara displaces. I was a little disappointed that the relationship between Kara and Seth didn’t grow but who knows…..
This is the second book in the Wildflower House series (I do hope there will be a third book.) While it can be read as a standalone, I found it much richer after reading the first book in the series, Wildflower Heart.
Kara Hart is recovering from so many losses – her mother, her husband and now her father. Despite her feelings of inadequacy, she discovers her strength and resiliency and compassion as she renovates the house she comes to think of as Wildflower House. As a wounded individual, she rises above it all to grow into the person she is meant to be.
Grace Greene is an artist and photographer, as well as a wonderful novelist, and it shows through her writing – I could SEE the house, the gardens, the creek, the carriage house. I would love to visit the Wildflower House but since it is a fictional location, I will have to be satisfied with re-reading both books in the series.
I received this book as an ARC through NetGalley for which I am grateful. The opinion is totally my own.
Wildflower Hope takes up where Wildflower Heart left off, with Kara alone and trying to decide which path forward is right for her.
The loss of Kara’s father was huge and she is left with an old home, lots of acreage, some mystery and much uncertainty. This story encompasses so many feelings that each page is a delight in one way or another. There is despair, anger and frustration sure, but there are greater parts hope, love, acceptance, finding oneself and learning to trust and take pride in your instincts and accomplishments. That is a huge amount of feelings in one book and the journey through and to each is incredibly satisfying.
Grace Greene has a talent for beautiful, lush descriptions that make me see the scenes in my mind’s eye. For example, the fireplace screens. I want to see those! I could picture them and I so want to see if my imagining comes anywhere close to reality. I’d never even heard of such a thing until this book! I could picture the river and the carriage house clearly. That talent for descriptions makes Wildflower House a living breathing character of its own and one I can’t wait to visit again.
I’d strongly recommend reading this series in order. You could follow along just fine if you started with Wildflower Hope, but you’d miss out on all the important stepping stones to this point in Kara’s life. This series is for anyone who enjoys personal journeys of discovery, family sagas, and women’s fiction. Take a chance and let Grace Greene and this beautiful series take possession of your heart and soul for a few days.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for allowing me an ARC at my request. All thoughts in this review are mine and freely given.
I started by re-reading Wildflower Heart … because that’s what good stories are for 🙂
Wildflower Hope was everything I expected it to be!
Life has not been kind to Kara but her resilience helps her overcome and flourish.
I really loved where her love life is going and I can hardly wait to read what happens next.
I truly wished this place was real. I’m no artist but I would love to spends a few days at the retreat she is creating (and maybe meet for real not only Kara but also Hannah, another beloved character from Grace’s books).
Wildflower Hope is an excellent sequel. I loved following Kara into this book. She has had many tragedies, now her father is suddenly dead. Read along as she turns his dream into hers..can she open herself up to a relationship and new friends….
Must read although reccommend Wildflower heart first.
Hope this keeps going into a series of more than two.
“What the brain knows and what the heart hopes for are often different.”
Wildflower Hope…..I have just experienced another emotional and heart tugging journey in the life of the main character, Kara Hart. Kara has had so many tragedies take place in her life that she’s struggling to make sense of it all. What is the way forward in her life after the loss of so much?
I love the theme of wildflowers in this series. They are resilient and able to overcome difficult conditions. They grow where they are planted and bloom in spite of adverse conditions. “Wildflowers are tough. They root in unlikely, often hostile environments, yet they manage to grow and bloom.” This is the beautiful analogy Ms. Greene uses to take the reader on the continued story of Kara. I was drawn into this continuation of Kara’s uncertainties and what is ahead for her in the restoration of the Wildflower House.
Kara must deal with some hard choices in the battle to move forward. There is so much hurt in her life not only from the loss of her father, to betrayal, to a feeling of loneliness, to an addiction she wasn’t sure she could overcome. She must choose where and how she wants her life to move forward. I felt the difficult and hard fight she was facing. She is like Wildflower House….she has some renovations to make in her life to put it back together. Things that need to be repaired, things that need to be taken out and things that are still a perfect part of her. This is a beautifully written book that took me through the renewal and sometimes painful hurdles that are part of Kara’s life.
This is a story about finding hope, the ability to be able to forgive, and to find the strength to have confidence in her abilities and talents. There are wonderful characters in this book who support Kara in this search for her new purpose. They have wonderful advice and help guide her to make her own decisions and choices. They help her emotionally to be the person she’s created to be. They help her to let go of the past and to see a future. They help her realize that she has value and a purpose. She has talent and abilities that are gifts to share with others. This book is an emotional journey. It is a message that through life’s hard tumbles and struggles, there is HOPE!
I love the way Ms. Greene drew me into the settings. I was seeing the landscapes, the renovations of the house and the carriage house. The grottos and forests were places I was in and smelling the flowers and fresh air. I was a part of this story emotionally and physically in the pages. It was a powerful and touching read.
I want to thank Ms. Greene for the honor of reading this ARC of her book. I loved every part of it. I am so looking forward to continuing the rebuilding of Wildflower House and Kara’s life that she has ahead in the next book. This is a five star plus excellent read!
Wildflower Hope is a wonderful story of family, friendship and forgiveness. This second book in the Wildflower series is full of hope. Hope for the future of Wildflower House and hope that Kara can find her true self. This book follows Wildflower Heart, and although the author did a wonderful job of catching the reader up to the first book, I do recommend reading them in order. I truly enjoyed this beautifully written book. I honestly felt as if Wildflower House was just down the road! I highly recommend Wildflower Hope. It will not disappoint! Five sparkly stars!
This book was so good! The description of the house and outside grounds was so good! I wanted to go there and walk around! I’m eagerly awaiting the next book! Thanks to Netgalley for the early copy
This novel is a beautiful continuation of the rebirth of the Wildflower House and book two in the series.
Kara continues to see her dreams, steps forward and perseveres on the right path toward happiness.
Thanks to some genuine friends, she has begun to blossom, trust and love again.
I loved the characters, the descriptions of the house, flowers, gardens and all the little surprises along the way.
I was definitely engrossed in this book.
I felt like I was helping to take the wallpaper down and doing some landscaping too!
I will remember the lessons that are shared in this story. There are definitely many valuable examples and here is one:
“”Maybe the biggest question wasn’t about forgiveness itself but rather about who needed to forgive whom.”
I cannot wait for the next part of Kara’s and her Wildflower House Journey!
Excellent!!
A beautiful story of learning to love and trust again. From the beginning, I was drawn into the story by the settings and the characters. I could picture the wildflowers in the grass and the home waiting for possibilities. Kara experiences change in ways that give hope and promise. Excellent story. I received a complimentary copy of this book. No review was required.
Beautiful story of hope and healing!
Wildflower Hope is the second book in The Wildflower House series, I would highly suggest reading the books in order. There are such strong messages and feeling in all of the books it really will help bring light to each book individually.
Kara has suffered enough loss to last her a lifetime. However, she is hoping that The Wildflower House can bring her healing, help her overcome her fears and turn her dreams into a reality. With a little help and guidance from friends and loved ones, she just might get what she wants.
Grace Greene has crafted a beautiful masterpiece in Wildflower Hope. She will bring you through a roller coaster of emotions, obstacles and triumphs that will leave you in awe. If I could give this book more than 5 stars I most certainly would because it is amazing!
I have read everything that Grace Greene has written, and with each book I’ve watched her writing skills grow. With this second book in The Wildflower House series, she has hit it out of the park.
If I were a writer I might be able to write a review to properly relate how wonderful this book is. The writing was lyrical and the characters were real. It all read as something that could happen to anyone at any given time.
It is a beautiful book about grief, friendship, family and love.
Buy the first one and read it, and then jump right on to this one. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
In Wildflower Hope, Kara continues to renovate Wildflower House. I enjoyed catching up with all of Kara’s friends and neighbors. As Kara completes room of the house, it is as she is healing herself as well. I love the descriptions in this book as I feel like I am in Wildflower House. This is a wonderful story of friendship, healing, and forgiveness. I received an advanced readers copy and all opinions are my own.
Wildflower Hope is a captivating tale of family, friendship, forgiveness and a future full of possibilities.
As Wildflower House continues it’s renovations, Kara Hart is experiencing her own personal healing. It is not an easy path for Kara as she copes with grief and a depression that make her question her choices. As the story unfolds and the beauty of the house is restored, confidence blooms within Kara allowing her to take charge of her life, and her plans for Wildflower House take root.
With her unique flair for depicting the Virginia countryside she loves, Grace Greene expands the story of Kara Hart’s journey to rebuild her life after a series of terrible losses. The remarkable cast of characters will delight, and the plot will keep the reader guessing about family ties and hidden dreams until the very end. If you are looking for an unforgettable tale about second chances and the true meaning of family, look no further than Wildflower Hope.
