I was his weakness. He was my strength. Until I destroyed him.I was infatuated with Shane Wilder since the first time I saw him surfing. But we couldn’t be together. Not yet, anyway. I was too young and screwed up. He was too focused on chasing his dream. So we became friends. We met on the rooftop for late-night confessions under the stars. Cruised along the Pacific Coast Highway with the wind in … Coast Highway with the wind in our hair and the sun on our faces.
I took photos of all the beautiful and ugly and interesting things, while he traveled the world in search of the perfect waves.
I told him I would wait for him.
I never meant to lie.
I never meant to ruin his life.
I. Destroyed. Him.
As his star faded, mine burned bright. But as everyone knows, all that glitters is not gold.
Now I’m back after seven long years, hoping for a chance to right my wrongs and fix what I’ve broken. This time I can only hope that loving Shane Wilder will be enough to save him.

A beautifully written story that will take your heart by storm! So unexpected for me how this story just gripped me, not in the beginning but it just slowly captured my heart. I can’t find enough words to say how beautiful and heartwrenching this book was! Yep I cried tears but there was something healing as well. The author did it amazingly and the written words, you can’t help but fall in love with Remy and Shane! A definite must read and also one of my top favorites for 2019!
Shane has lost his mom at a young age and has taken each day as it comes. He’s trying to compete in a new surfing competition and to also make a life for himself. When he and Remy first meet, there’s an undeniable pull between them and their friendship starts to grow into something more. But a secret will come out and he’ll take some distance but their hearts seem to just beat for one another. But when another tragedy happens, Remy has no other choice than to try and let go… Now years later, Remy comes back into town but events have changed Shane. Although there is still something lingering between them, both their hearts were broken from the past but somehow their love still seems to be underneath the surface. Can they find a way to heal from the past and mend each other?… Can love find a way?…
I absolutely love second chance stories and this is definitely at the top for me. Remy and Shanes story had me hooked from page one and my emotions all over the place with these two. They were absolutely meant to be but other things just seemed to be keeping them apart and them having to fight it to be together. Just an amazing book with all the feels in it.
This one kept breaking my heart. I’m reminded of the song, “Life Ain’t Always Beautiful.” You wonder how people can struggle so much and still stand up smiling. Sometimes there are people that will give you a hand, or maybe just an ear, or a shoulder. It showed that rich or poor, people still have hard issues they face. I wanted to throw the book many times, but like that song goes, “life ain’t always beautiful…but it’s a beautiful ride.”
Another phenomenal book. This story pulled on all my heart strings.. Remy and Dyan move to CA with there deadbeat mom. Remy finds a friend in Shane. Shane and Remy become fast friends. He shows her life and surfing. She has a bully who takes advantage of her. She thinks she isn’t good enough for Shane any longer. He happens to hear what happened. He ends up going away for six years. He is a different person. Remy went to be a model. As they find their way back to love and each other, they encounter a few hurdles.
Their love is strong and will beat all odds.
This story is beautifully written. I felt emotionally attached to these characters. I cried at the memorial in the water. I felt I was in this book from the first chapter.
I highly recommend this book. Fall in love with Remy and Shane and the ocean.
“I knew it was dangerous, loving him the way I did. Like he was the North Star, the only one in the universe who could guide me home.”
Chance meetings, dark pasts, secrets, a split second decision shatters a budding romance and takes leaping over a zillion obstacles for redemption. Opposites in almost all ways, Shane and Remy’s breathtaking romance is cut short, and the second chance seems just out of their reach beyond the carnage, loss, and piles of mistakes strewn around the wreckage. Emotionally bittersweet, lessons in forgiveness, learning from each other and about themselves, it was a poignant escape with heartache, picking up the pieces, and battling to try again.
“I had always trusted him. With my life. With my heart. With the secrets of my soul.”
Wilder Love was the first Emery Rose book that I read. Their love story captivated me and left me wanted more. You just cannot help but root for Remy and Shane and the unique and powerful love that they had. Remy is so strong and Shane is simply swoon-worthy. This book made me feel so many emotions.
Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.
This book was bloody brilliant. Just wow. This is such an emotionally raw story. I loved it so much! It was the perfect mix of romance, drama, tragedy, and forgiveness. I was glued to these pages like they might disappear if I didn’t keep reading. The writing style was beautiful. Very informative but with an easy flow. The author is able to pack a punch with a few words.
These characters are everything. They make the wheels on this story turn. Both main characters are so full of depth. They are both such realistic characters, which I love. They are full of flaws, strengths, and love. I was able to connect to both main characters fairly easily. I really felt for them both. It’s hard not to with this heartbreaking yet heartwarming story. The secondary characters were amazing. I fell so in love with Dylan and I can’t wait to read his story. The love between the two main characters is almost tangible. It is intense and immediate. A connection that is undeniable. You definitely feel for these characters with all that they go through in the story. First, there is the age difference and then all the drama that keeps them apart for so long. It will pull your heartstrings.
Overall, this story blew me away. This is a story that will break you apart and put you back together again. I fell in love with these complex characters are their gritty love story. This book easily filled a little spot in my heart and I hope it can do the same for you! I definitely recommend this and I can’t wait to read more from this author!
What a emotional roller coaster!!Heart wrenching and frustrating! Sacrifices were made!! Wonderful read!
Shane and Remy were friends then it turned into a romance. Remy is a photographer with a rising career. Shane traveled all over the world. Remy promised to wait but she couldn’t stay forever. Now after seven years, she’s back in town and in Shane’s world. Will the couple get a second chance?
New to me author. I signed up to read Sweet Chaos but had to read this one first. I was curious to what she could have possibly done to betray him. You know it would have been for an unselfish reason. You do not see it coming.
This book was Amazing! Hands down a MUST READ! Rose consumes you with this emotionally gripping read! Wilder Love is one of those story’s that takes a hold of you and never lets you go! It was Tragic and Beautiful! My heart took a hard hit with this read! I think I connected with the age gap of this book and it really just took hold of my teenage self! Love is hard and sometimes the world isn’t nice, bad things happen to good people and there are just so many things in this world that are out of our hands! I loved Remy and Shane with all my heart! Their story is not an easy one, it’s sweet and all-consuming and then it’s heartbreaking! These characters have to fight and work hard for their happiness. It’s a devastating combo of first-love, age-gap, and second chance romance! A really phenomenal read! It’s very angsty and will have you ready to pull out your hair and close to tears! I loved all of it! The surfing pieces that we get are very interesting and really paint a picture! The characters were fantastic and I’m dying to have more of Dylan and even Bastian! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
We meet Remy and Dylan St. Clair as teenagers as they try to battle the issues of living with an absent mother. They have recently moved to Del Sol California where the people are beautiful, and the beaches are where it is at.
In walks Shane Wilder who is working the pro surfer circuit. With Remy in High School Shane sees her off limits as he is out of High School. They keep finding themselves pulled together as if their souls new each other from a past life.
When Remy gets into trouble Shane comes to the rescue and ends up paying the price for it. The book picks up six years later when Remy makes it back to Del Sol after exploring the world, and Shane comes back from where he has been.
Remy doesn’t give up as she proves herself and love for Shane as he faces one of the hardest things of life a child must face. Can they find their way back together, and live their happily ever after.
***4,5 “Firefly & You’re my ocean!!!” stars***
“Do you know what a Siren is in Greek mythology?”
“Tell me.”
“A siren is an enchantress who lures the sailor with her voice…”
“And what happens to the sailor?”
“He shipwrecks on the rocky coast.”
“I’ll never sing for you, Sailor. I don’t want to destroy you. I just want to love you.”
“I was destroyed the first time I ever saw your face, Firefly.”
This story is from this kind of stories that you can characterize as hidden gems in an endless sea of romance stories…
It was a heartbreakingly beautiful and raw story full of passion, love, regrets, mistakes and forgiveness…
I loved this story very much and it grabbed me from the first moment…
Emery Rose knows how to deliver a captivating story with beautiful characters full of flaws that will stay with you after the last page of this book!!!
“Hope is a dangerous thing. It makes you wish for things you can’t have.”
Remy was a girl that had nothing, except of her twin brother, Dylan…
Her only escape was photography and to keep her head down until she can get her life in her own hands… In a grey sky, Shane came like sunshine to brighten her life…
Shane was a guy with big dreams….
An easygoing guy with the ocean as his lover until Remy stepped into his world…
From that moment, a strange full of tension friendship started between them, a friendship that turned out to be so much more, until tragedy hit them and separated them for good…
Both their skies darkened and they became dull and with no vibrant colors…
“The ocean was my home. Surfing was my religion. I felt it in my soul.”
“Let’s never say goodbye, okay?”
Neither of us could make that kind of promise but I made it anyway.
“We’ll never say goodbye.”
After seven years, Remy is coming back to claim in a way everything that both she and Shane had lost and with only weapon her love to bring him back to life… Into her life…
Both of them were broken and exhausted…. Exhausted from a life that they didn’t have each other, but unfortunately, they weren’t the same persons that they used to be…
Is there really anything salvageable between them???
“All I was to him now was a painful remimder of everything he’d lost. He wasn’t the Shane I’d known so many years ago and I was no longer the same Remy.
It hurt too much.”
“There was a big difference between living and just surviving. I used to know how to live. I used to be pretty damn good at it.”
“I thought you were worth fighting for. Were you, Remy? Tell me. Were you worth fighting for?”
When had Shane learned to be so cruel?
That was the thing about ocean. It was wild and unpredictable. It could be dangerous, showing no mercy. Shane once told me that it was a mistake to turn your back on ocean. The thing you love most could destroy you. And Shane… he was still my ocean.”
I loved both Remy and Shane very much…
Their connection were instant from the very first moment, but unfortunately in the beginning they had different matters to fight, things as an age gap and then something bad happened that break them apart….
Now, after so much wasting time, they will try to put their pieces back together… Not only as couples, but as persons as well!!!
To be totally honest with you, my heart was breaking for them… It was so unfair for these two to be apart and to be broken without each other….
“He was sunshine on a rainy day. Summertime in December. And I was the stupid girl foolish enough to fall in love with him.”
“She was a wildcard, this girl, with her ocean eyes and heartbreaking smile. But still, I wanted her. Every broken piece of her.”
“He would do anything for me and I would do anything for him.”
Phew!!! Honestly, i don’t know what more to say to you about this story…
From the blurb, i had realized that something bad will happen, but honestly, i wasn’t expecting this turn of events, even though i had made many assumptions…
These two were so beautiful characters apart, but together they were so sweet and right…
They didn’t deserve all this pain!!!
“My greatest weakness was, is, and always would be, her.”
Being around her again was hard. Being without her was harder.
But then nothing about me and Remy had ever been easy.”
Before i close my review, i would like to be reffering in two other characters in here that manage to crawl inside my heart…
The first person was Shane’s father, Jimmy. This man was such a wonderful man full of life and beautiful words and i won’t lie to you that he made me cry very much at one point…
The second person is of course, Dylan, Remy’s twin brother…
This broody, broken and angry boy who turned out to be a wonderful man with few words had win my heart over and i can not wait to dive in his own book… He deserves happiness….
He was also a man that made me cry at some point in here, and i adored how these twins were between them… I loved how they stick together no matter what….
“Dylan St. Clair was a puzzle wrapped in an enigma.”
“If it’s meant to be, you’ll find your way back to each other.”
“Do you really believe that’s possible? Even if.. you hurt someone so badly they’ll never forgive you?”
“I didn’t say how long it would take. I just said you’ll find your way back.” {Jimmy to Remy}
***I was given an ARC in the exchange of an honest review.***
A forbidden-age romance between Remy and Shane.
Remy and her twin brother Dylan were, I say loosely, raised by a mother that lived a gypsy lifestyle. They never stayed in one place for long which led to a slew of problems. When they reached the age of sixteen they arrived in California and both Dylan and Remy decided to make a stand of finishing out their high school years in that final spot. This lead to both good and bad decisions in their lives. While Dylan went on to eventually become a self-made millionaire (that is his story to eventually read) Remy had a tougher road to travel.
Told in 2 parts, their tale is heart wrenching–
Remy was sixteen when she meets Shane, her neighbor and pro-surfer of twenty-one. Due to Remy’s hard life up to now, she appears much older and thus wiser than sixteen. Shane instantly falls for her and it isn’t until later that he learns her age and has to restrain himself from making a huge mistake.
While they play with fire over several months, trying to just remain friends, it gets harder and harder to stay away, especially when Remy’s mother does a horrible job of caring for her children. Shane constantly steps in to be the white knight, much to Remy’s horror and Dylan’s dislike. Shane’s white knighthood eventually goes too far and when a bully at Remy’s school finds out about their relationship it doesn’t end well for Shane.
Part 2 is seven years later and this not only gives time for Remy to mature, it also gives them time to grow apart. This second half will tear you apart. My insides were ripping apart the entire time I was reading it. I don’t know how Emery wrote it without a box of tissues by her side the entire time.
It was awful and so good at the same time because it completely tore me up inside.
I loved it and I’m completely looking forward to reading Dylan’s story given to how close they are.
To say that Remy St Clair has had a rough go at life is a complete understatement, with an uncaring addict for a mother it’s hard not to. Her and her twin brother have been forced to grow up far more than their 16 years, because of their mother’s lack of guidance and good parenting skills, they are the adults in the relationship. They have recently relocated to Costa del Rey, and Remy is hoping this will be the fresh start they all need.
When she sets out on her first trip to the beach to take some photos and see the sites she unexpectedly meets a handsome stranger that quickly works his way into her good graces. Shane is a surfing legend amongst the locals and he has big dreams of taking his talents to oceans all over the world… and he also happens to be a bit to old for her too. But a girl can dream right? It’s evident they have something special, but with her younger age they agree that starting something between them just wouldn’t be right, so they agree to be friends, with a promise of reuniting someday when she is mature enough to date him. But that little plan doesn’t go quite as planned…
Wilder Love is a beautiful story of young love, following dreams, and second chances. This pairing fell hard fast, but there was too much standing in their way for them to be anything other than friends, so they agreed someday they would have their shot at love. But tragedy struck and left their plans for a future in complete disarray. This one gave a good tug on the heartstrings, I don’t honestly think it is possible to read this one and not feel something for these characters. It was evident that they belonged with one another, but getting to that point took a little longer than they anticipated, watching them try to sort through all their pain and problems was hard on the heart, but the outcome made it all worth it. I really enjoyed this first time read, it had angst, emotion, romance, and loads of feels… it was so good! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
This was a beautiful story of two people who are truly soulmates. Although they are facing a lot of challenges mainly the fact that Remy is 16 and Shane is 21. So they form a friendship with Shane protecting and caring for Remy as much as he can. Their relationship developed despite the fact that it shouldn’t but things have a way of catching up to you. Some really bad things happens and Shane winds up in jail. Six years later and Remy is back to get her soulmate back. Things progress and after years they two finally get their perfect HEA.
I really really enjoyed this book even though there were moments I want to throw my iPad at the wall in frustration with the characters. They characters were incredible and the story was well developed and realistic. So while it wasn’t always easy to read and there were some really horrible, sad moments it was all worth it in the end to read Shane and Remy’s story.
** I did receive a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review**
The connection between Shane and Remy was intense from the start. I had a hard time being ok with them being she was so young. They definitely crossed lines that I was worried I wouldn’t be ok with. As wrong as it was, I rooted for them. Then it all changed with one punch. I knew there would probably be some time needed before they could try to be together again but I thought he was sending mixed signals. I really liked both characters and definitely enjoyed this book.
I wrote this review based on an advance reading copy that the publisher sent me.
I absolutely loved everything about this book! Wilder Love by Emery Rose is everything you want in a forbidden romance; complete with angst, dysfunction, emotion, chemistry, and twists you won’t see coming! The connection and chemistry between the main characters was addicting. I could not get enough of Shane – holy swoon!
This was a new to me author, and I can’t wait to read more from Emery Rose! A must read for lovers of new adult romance, angst, and second chance!
There is just SO MUCH to LOVE about this story!!
I have spent a couple of weeks trying so hard to put the words together to adequately review this beautiful tale and yet I’m still struggling to find the right ones to do it justice.
Emery Rose is a new author to me, and I’ll now be clamouring to read everything she’s written as this offering has floored me in it’s execution, eloquence and attention to detail.
Let alone it has bled and rung my heart dry, only to fill it more full of love for these characters and their journey than I can remember feeling for a story in a really long time!
Remy St. Clair and Shane Wilder are just such exquisitely written characters, you cannot help but champion their budding love affair as this story unfolds, and feel the loss of each other as events conspire to tear them apart.
Rose carefully handles the issues and struggles in this tale, that as tough as they are, you accept them and each persons actions and reactions and respond in kind with joy, passion, anger, hatred and determination to see them be reunited once more.
The supporting cast are also brilliantly portrayed; Remy’s twin Dylan is a delicious enigma that I can’t wait to see more of as this series unfolds, and Shane’s father Jimmy was the perfect sounding board and connection for these two starcrossed lovers, and also holds a special place in my tortured reader heart.
I could go on and on, but all that really needs to be said is that this story is an absolute MUST READ, and a no brainer as one of my all time favourites.
This is a totally fabulous book! I loved it. I also cried a lot. And was completely overwhelmed with all of the feeliest feels that could be felt.
Wilder Love is a story about second chances. Of growing up. Of forgiveness and of overcoming defeat and misfortune. It’s beautiful and sad and absolutely worth your time.
I won’t lie, this is a tragic story. There was definitive hiccup-crying going on for a while. But it’s also the most beautiful lovestory with a HEA and it was so worth all the tissues.
Usually, I’m not a fan of stories covering years and years because, if it’s a romance, it usually means star-crossed lovers spending too much time apart. That’s not for me. I want the drama and the angst and the sweet lovin’ without unnecessary breaks. And that’s what I got in Wilder Love. The focus was always Remy’s and Shane’s story, despite them technically being separated. How their relationship evolved, and how they changed and developed as individuals was described so beautifully I get all teary-eyed just thinking about it.
Rose is an incredibly talented writer and storyteller. There’s the sweet, innocent and – despite all the familial shit – heart-warming beginning of Remy and Shane. Then, there’s all that ugly catching up with them, changing the mood of the story entirely, stripping away their innocence. And the final part, where they’re older and more jaded, but still able to find their way back to a version of what they had before everything turned to sh*t. Wilder Love is the very definition of an emotional roller-coaster, and it’s amazing.
This is my first read by Rose, but if Wilder Love is anything to go by, she’s one of my new favourite authors.
