Weston “Major” Marian:After running away at the age of seventeen, I found a home in the Army. It wasn’t long before my fellow soldiers became family, giving purpose to my time in Vietnam. But everything changes when Doc Wilde joins my medevac crew. A night alone in the jungle after a helicopter crash forces us to rely on each other for survival, the secrets we share cementing a bond between us … a bond between us deeper than any I’ve ever known.
Doc begins to play a starring role in my late night fantasies even though he can never be anything more than a friend, a brother-in-arms. He’s straight, with family back in Texas, and I could kiss my career goodbye if anyone in the Army discovered my secret.
When our tours finally end, and we go our separate ways, Doc heads home to his perfect family while I continue to serve. I thought that was the end of our story. Turns out I was wrong.
Liam “Doc” Wilde:
When I wind up on the front lines in Vietnam young and afraid, it’s Major Marian who comes to my rescue. He’s tough, brave, and quiet, and he vows to keep me safe. He’s the only reason I make it home alive.
For some, a friendship like ours might have ended once we left the jungle behind, but life without Major Marian isn’t an option. Over time, our connection continues to grow. It’s no surprise when, years later, an unexpected illness turns my life upside down, he’s the first person I turn to for help.
And, as always, he drops everything to rescue me.
I soon realize that at every step of my life, Major has been there, by my side, putting me first. All this time he’s been standing in the sidelines, waiting patiently to hand over his heart into my safekeeping.
Even though I never imagined building a future with another man, seeing Major in this new light is a revelation. And suddenly I can’t imagine my life any other way.

Gah, this book was so freaking good. This story of “Doc” and “Grandpa” from the Forever Wilde series (the book starts during the Vietnam War) is Lucy Lennox at her very best. Wilde Love is at the core one of the most romantic stories you’ll ever read, combined with Lucy’s characteristic mix of humor and world building. This is a book that will stay with me for as long time.
This book was so amazing!! I laughed, cried, and fell in love. I recommend the book, however the audiobook takes the enjoyment to another level!
I adored this story! I have loved the whole series but finally getting Doc and Westons story just is special!! Well written, great characters, great story flow!!
I’ve read most of the Wilde and Marian series, and this is the best book of all. It’s a completely gripping romance that spans the lifetime of these two wonderful men who served in Vietnam together. You don’t need to read the series to appreciate this love story (minus the last chapter where the author, in a very cheeky manner, dubbed it “aka can Lucy write a scene with every Marian and Wilde in it?”). Just be ready with some tissues for the heartache and aspirin for the book hangover.
This book exceeded all my expectations. Like many readers, I couldn’t wait for Doc and Grandpa’s story. I definitely feel that you would enjoy it most if you at least read the other Forever Wilde novels. But it would be an added bonus to you if you also read the Made Marian series but it’s not as important.
Lucy Lennox is truly a talented author. One part of the book focuses on Doc’s relationship with his wife and brings Wes in. The way she managed to take what could have been a hurtful, jealous situation for Wes, into something beautiful was amazing. The sense of family and the friendship that Doc’s wife and Wes had makes my heart so happy and full.
This book has all the feels! It’s a slow burn. And this wouldn’t be a Lucy Lennox without at least dab of steam heat, and of course she delivered. This isn’t just an epic love story but a story of family.
Oh my heart! This is a book unlike any other. So epically poignant, showing a love that completely ignores gender and written so brilliantly that the reader can’t help but be swept along this achingly heartfelt love story. Just magnificent.

I totally loved this book. It was definitely my favourite book of the series. I’ve loved Doc and Grandpa “Major” from when we were first introduced to them in Nico and West’s book, Facing West and have been interested in getting their story so I’m really glad that Lucy decided to write it. Totally worth a read as you wont be disappointed but be warned that you’ll need to keep tissues handy many times throughout their book. Their love story goes all the way back to when they met while both serving in Nam which forged their lifelong friendship/connection with everything that they went through. I totally loved Betsy as she was so understanding and knew straight away how much Major meant to Doc and also knew that Major was completely in love with her husband, and still accepted him into their family, he became an honorary uncle to their kids and she also loved and cared about him in her own way as while Doc was away at Medical School he became her best friend and rock while she was battling cancer, he was beside her being her support system and made her laugh which she desperately needed. I had tears running down my face when Major took all of Doc’s anger when he came home from Medical School and found out that Betsy was sick and Major, his best friend knew for months and never told him as Betsy made him promise that he wouldn’t tell Doc. It was heartbreaking hearing about Betsy’s struggles while she explained to Doc that she couldn’t have done it all without Major, he even planted the rose garden so she could look out at them and even got her to teach him to knit so that when her fingers failed her, he could be them for her but he was completely terrible and it made Doc realise how much Major was doing for his family in his absence.
The prejudice Major faced when Hobie found out that the reason he’s over 40 years old and still not married is because he’s gay and was jumped by five guys and b*aten half to d*ath was completely heartbreaking especially when Doc finds out and screams at him not to leave him and that he can’t lose him as well but I’m glad he made Doc stay in Hobie at the Ranch and face the bigots head on as it’s where the Kids need to be to thrive as they wouldn’t in a big city. When Doc’s family first found out about Major they weren’t too happy as it’s all they’ve been taught in church is that homosexuality is against God’s wishes but it was such a touching moment when they come in to Major’s hospital room and find Doc kissing him before he heads off to surgery to fix his injuries. Yes, they’re shocked initially but accept them both even if they don’t understand it and call Major son and actually mean that he’s part of their family. Man, their wedding was so beautiful, heartwarming and such a massive gay celebration with all the Wilde and Marian’s together in one place. After reading the moment that a man, obviously some type of law enforcement shows up in Napa and needs King for a job but King disappears it made me really interested to find out who the man is and how his chase with King goes. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
This book…how best to review a book that has all the feels and tells a story so powerful? Every chapter of this book creates the backbone of the wonderfully Wilde family. Reading about the love between Weston and Liam and everything they go through to find their forever gives you that sweet ache that only a profound love story can give you. Read this book and let it bring you such joy and hope, you won’t regret it.
Spanning 50 years, this is a story of friendship, trust, and love that begins in a war-torn country and ends up in a sleepy town in Texas with a HEA written for the ages.
There are so many “moments” in this book that are noteworthy. The moments of joy and laughter that precede and follow the lasting moments of pain and sorrow are particularly poignant. And those moments of insecurity that made me want to hold these brave and beautiful souls and assure them that it would all come out alright, remind me that the path to love and happiness is strewn with roadblocks. Then there are the quiet moments that reflect the peace these guys find in each other. And they do find that peace in each other. From that first day, they had a connection, and it lasts even now.
The author instilled in these pages a tangible bond that kept these characters strong and reliant on each other, in war and their everyday lives. The feeling that if one faltered, the other would pick him up.
I laughed and cried and suffered along with them as they journeyed to their happily ever after. I love Liam and Wes. They are a beautiful couple, and I am so glad I got to read their story.
4.5 stars
This is Doc and Major’s epic love story. I was so excited to see their early years and follow through to the present where we know them as the Wilde family patriarchs. This M/M story was unique that it started back in Vietnam with two men who began as the best of friends and years down the line became a love match. Although Major (West) Marian always knew he was gay and loved Doc. Doc (Liam) Wilde was initially married and a father of four. But the way it all progressed was beautiful and heartwarming. It was a really slow burn and we did not get a lot of time in their younger years when they were actually together, but the foundation and connection of these two were undeniable. It also shows how acceptance has improved over the years. And we have already seen a lot of these two funny, sweet, and passionate guys in the other books as well.
It also shows us the Wilde children when younger and even their offspring in a very Wilde and Marian epilogue.
Easily the Best book between the Made Marian / Forever Wilde worlds.
Audiobook Review
This was my favorite book in the series!
Doc and Grandpa’s story is the love for the ages. I loved seeing how they were when they were younger.
Seeing how their relationship grew and evolved was touching and heartfelt.
The author has done a great job in realistically describing the time during the Vietnam War.
Michael Dean performed a commendable audio delivery which really brought the characters to life .
How it all started between Doc & Grandpa. Wow!
This book is the reason for the series! I was blown away. Watching Doc & “Major” grow & come to grips with their feelings for each other was so special. Finally having the background on these two patriarchs of the Wilde family made everything richer. I am in love with the Wildes. You will be too.
Liam “Doc” Wilde & Weston “Major” Marian were meant to be together. From Vietnam to little Hobie,Texas, their road to HEA is assured. But the road isn’t smooth. Join them on the journey of a lifetime. This book finally joins the Wilde & the Marian clans. What a rush!
As this series is one continuous storyline, please read the first 5 books in order. You will be glad you did! I cannot wait to read the next book.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Doc & Major are my all-time favorite book couple. Ever.
Wilde Love was a beautiful, painful, tender, and perfect love story and it lived up to all the expectations that Lucy’s ravenous fans have been wanting since the first book in this series. I’ll now go back to read the whole series all over again, so I can witness Doc & Major’s enduring love one more time…and live in this Wilde world a little bit longer.
Loved it!
I love this series, but especially this book. Weston’s and Liam’s love story was filled with heartbreak, sorrow, hope, danger, and longing. And the epilogue was amazing. Anxiously awaiting more books about the Wilde and Marian families.
KU. I feel like there needs to be a bonus star for how good this is given how many other 5-star books Lucy Lennox has written.
Doc (Liam) & Major’s (Wes) story is full of friendship, respect, love, trials, and family. I was simultaneously cheering for them to *finally* get together while mourning the losses needed to clear their path.
Betsy I adored her and her place in this family Her love for and friendship with Major was precious. Thank you so much Lucy for not feeling like we needed her to be a villain in order to embrace Doc & Major.
And whew! That cover!
And the Marian/Wilde epilogue was a hoot. Need to read/listen to them all again.
i loved it because its a lgbtq book
I must admit to a bit of trepidation before reading this book. So many expectations were built, and I am happy to say that it didn’t disappoint. There were some things that could have annoyed me but the story flowed so naturally and beautifully that I found it impossible not to love it. Weston and Liam have forged a bond in wild jungle of Nam that lasted a lifetime. They went through separation, pain, grief and loneliness but through it all they remained steadfast friends. One could say they’ve loved one another for more than half a lifetime knowingly and unknowingly. Told from dual POV this is a story that brings tears of joy and shows deep and unconditional love, loyal friendship and meaning of true family.
At times I hurt for Weston and all he was going through, but I admired him as well. He gave without expecting anything in return. I also loved Betsy, Liam’s wife. Her acceptance of Weston made a real difference for the two men. She saw under the surface and probably knew that one day Weston would become very important to Liam. I honestly loved it all, and even the Marian clan jokes mostly didn’t phase me. The story was everything I wanted it to be, and I am glad I read it. It was passionate, emotional, full of angst but full of happiness too. I loved it.
There are not enough ways to explain how wonderful, beautiful, emotional, loving, and everything else. We finally get to have Doc and Major’s full story, the good, sad, ugly, and beautiful. There is simply everything in this book and you will need Kleenex. Also, do not attempt to drink anything when you read the epilogue cause OMG!!!!
