One of Cosmopolitan’s Best Books of 2017!Lord Alaric Wilde, son of the Duke of Lindow, is the most celebrated man in England, revered for his dangerous adventures and rakish good looks. Arriving home from years abroad, he has no idea of his own celebrity until his boat is met by mobs of screaming ladies. Alaric escapes to his father’s castle, but just as he grasps that he’s not only famous but … grasps that he’s not only famous but notorious, he encounters the very private, very witty, Miss Willa Ffynche.
Willa presents the façade of a serene young lady to the world. Her love of books and bawdy jokes is purely for the delight of her intimate friends. She wants nothing to do with a man whose private life is splashed over every newspaper.
Alaric has never met a woman he wanted for his own . . . until he meets Willa. He’s never lost a battle.
But a spirited woman like Willa isn’t going to make it easy. . . .
The first book in Eloisa James’s dazzling new series set in the Georgian period glows with her trademark wit and sexy charm—and introduces a large, eccentric family. Readers will love the Wildes of Lindow Castle!

I love Eloisa James books but this is ssslllooowww. I just could not get into the story line. I will try again to get all the way through it. Ay this point, I do not recommend this book.
It gets 4 stars for originality. Eloisa James writes well and her books are easy & fun to read. I happened to listen to this one. Strong female characters.
You need this book!! Once you meet the Wilde men there is no turning back
So much fun! Low on angst but high on drama. Eloisa James never fails with her witty dialogue and likeable characters.
This book is lots of fun. This whole Wilde series is going to be great.
Love me some Eloisa James! Not what I was expecting from the description, however I enjoyed it immensely.
So glad to have a historical series that isn’t Regency!
What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Eloisa James writes amazing stories. I loved Alaric, Willa and all of the other characters. Each and every one of them seem so real and come alive on every page. I can’t wait to hear more about them. This was such a fun and quirky story, I was thoroughly entertained!
Always fun to see an educated man having to tangle with the ton and a woman who’s as intelligent (or even more so) than he is. Witty repartee and comical situations are always fun to read.
“Wilde in Love” ( #1 Book of The Wildes of Landow Castle) by Eloisa James 2017
This story is about Alaric Wilde (author and adventurer) who returns to England to find himself to be notorious. Image a Rock Star and you will understand his fame. Pictures of him are everywhere especially since someone wrote a play about him.
Then you have Miss Flynche (Willa). Alaric becomes totally entranced by Willa who has absolutely no desire to be connected to such a public and notorious person.
With all the woman chasing after him, add in a bog which is located to one side of Landow Castle, a skunk, a crazy person to add more spice to the story. Then Eloisa James has the audacity to end the book with a cliff-hanger at the end. Happy Reading!
This is the first book in a new series by the talented Eloisa James. The first thing is the cover. Unlike most books, in which the cover model(s) look nothing like the characters described in the book, this one not only actually resembles the H, but the scene is in the book. Thumbs up.
Lord Aleric Wilde, son of the Duke of Lindow, has been traveling the world, writing down his accounts of his experiences and they have been published. He has also been delaying returning home, because of the loss he felt from the death of his oldest brother, Horatius. But when he does return home, he finds that he had become a celebrity after some unknown playwright wrote a play about his adventures called “Wilde in Love” and numerous “plates” had been published with image4s from his books. Women have been hounding his family for memorabilia and are flocking the harbor when his ship comes in.
After having suffered from the loss of his mother (though his father has since remarried twice) and his brother, he has no intention of ever marrying or falling in love. But then at a house party honoring his return, he meets the very intriguing Wilhelmina (Willa) Everett Ffynche. She too was orphaned at 9 years of age, when her parents died in a racing accident. She turned herself into the perfect daughter for her guardian, Lady Grey, mother of her best friend Lavinia. Lavinia is one of the women who had been crushing on Lord Wilde. But Willa is not interested in notoriety and rebuffs Aleric’s advances. But there is an HEA for them, but first Aleric has to win Willa’s heart and save her from a villain. The book also ends with a cliffhanger for the next book in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book as I have all the previous once by the author.
This is a great beginning to a fun new series by Eloisa James set in Georgian England. The Wildes are a large, rambunctious family, and I can’t wait to read more stories about them!
Wilde in Love features Alaric, the third son of the Duke of Lindow, and the most famous, thanks to his series of adventure books that detail his exploits around the world. He comes home to England, only to find that he is a celebrity with hordes of crazed female fans. This is just the kind of man in whom Willa Ffynche has no interest. She’s a private person who wants the people in her life to behave with proper decorum. Willa has seen what acting spontaneously can cause, so she just wants to lead a quiet life with the perfect husband of her choosing. She may have a little wild streak herself, but she has worked hard to bury it and present the perfect facade to society.
There was so much humor in this story with the adoring fans, Alaric’s younger siblings and his Aunt Knowe, the adorable pets, and the infamous play. The characters also did a lot of soul-searching about tragedies in their past, and there was a little action and adventure thrown in too. I particularly liked that Willa and her friend Lavinia were not wallflowers. (Although, I do like a good wallflower story.) It was refreshing to see a story about two ladies who were the toast of Society with scads of proposals to their credit, yet they were waiting to choose the right man who would see them for the intelligent, funny, real people they were and not just the perfect image they put on for the Season.
Be warned that the last chapter is pretty much a teaser for the next book, but Willa and Alaric’s story is completely wrapped up in this book. I highly recommend Wilde in Love for anyone who loves historical romance!
What a great beginning of a new series!
Readers who expect the unexpected, won’t be disappointed. Wilde In Love wears it’s heart on it’s sleeve. The dashingly roguish adventurer enamored of the spirited spinster is an odd pairing. However, Willa is one surprise after another. She speaks her mind, she knows her heart and she has a tendency to be judgmental. What’s that saying? Be careful of the quiet ones, because they’re anything but. That characterizes Willa. Honestly, both Willa and Alaric take some getting used to. They can annoy as easily as they can charm, but the hints of humor that break through the stuffy moments are just what the doctor ordered.
