What happens when a musician has no more rock left in him?
Life for Matty Wilde couldn’t get any better. He’s loved Fiona for a decade and finally, at the end of their first book, Come Clean (Come Rock Me, Book 3), he finally gets his HEA. This book, the fourth in The Rock Stars On Tour series, can be read as a stand-a-lone, just like the others, but seriously why would you not want to read Fiona’s story in Come Clean?
Matty is now touring with The Freaks, and Fiona is with him. Life for them both is perfect, until perfect is taken away in one tragic moment, and all of Fiona’s insecurities come to the surface threatening to suffocate what has taken so long to build. Everything she has based her life on is gone in a moment, leaving her wondering what she now has to offer to the man who has given so much to her.
And to top it all off, there’s a media storm on the horizon ready to rain on the parade of success that he and his former boy-band mate have worked hard to build over the last few years. All Matty wants to do is protect Fiona from the publicity, and there’s a possibility that this will just finished them off.
This book is every thing that I have come to expect, and more, as I believe that this is one of the most angsty books in the rocker genre that Candy Starr has written. My heart broke right along with Fiona and Matty’s with the trials that they were put through. I could absolutely feel their love for each other as well as their own pain, and I just wanted them to have a win for a change, but nothing will change, or work out, until again, Fiona can learn to save herself. 4.5 Stars.
I thought Matt and Fiona’s story was complete after I read Come Clean but how wrong I was!! I do think Wilde Freak can be read without reading Come Clean but you will have such a greater appreciation of Matt and Fiona’s journey if you read Come Clean first.
The end of Hard Freak had me having all the grabby hands for Wilde Freak!! I needed to know what was going to happen to Matt and Fiona and this book was everything I didn’t know I needed! Matt and Fiona show an amazing amount of strength and love, both for themselves and for each other. I don’t ever want to see an end to the Freaks series but this ending was pretty perfect!
Rock star Matty and ex-model Fiona are living with nothing but true happiness and how could they not when they are on tour in Paris and living on the love they both have for each other. Tragic events can have a way of changing that. Will they be able to keep their love alive after everything that has happened? It’s a story of finding a way out of the darkness.
