Let’s just get this out in the open. Shifter books are my jam.
Unfortunately I missed the first book in this series, but you don’t miss much if you want to read this as a standalone.
Colton is a green beret. He’s on his way home for leave and his brothers wedding. Along the way he meets Marina. Marina is having a rough time and she’s on her way to her sisters wedding.
Colton doesn’t think he can have Marina for a whole slew of reasons.
Let me just tell you thing. If hot alpha shifter cowboys get your motor running (for me the answer to all of this is heck yes) Then you’ll love this.
I loved this a whole heckin’ tonne.
Audrey and Boyd are getting married, which brings Colton home on leave from the Army and Marina home on summer break to Wolf Ranch for their wedding. But a storm has them meeting unexpectedly before they ever make it to the ranch. And, from the first moment he sees her standing in the rain, Colton knows Marina is his mate even if he doesn’t know her name.
But, Marina is young, still in college and human. And, Colton is about to reenlist in the Army. Can he do what he feels is best for his mate by saying away or will he fall prey to the moon madness that is already a threat to his control?
I really l enjoyed the almost decade age gap between this couple. It made a fun dynamic. Colton has seen so much in the military and is ready to be home and settle down. But, he doesn’t feel it’s fair to Marina to have her mate for life when she hasn’t yet had a chance to fully experience the world. But, shouldn’t Marina have a say in her future? She may be young, but she is tired of making other people happy and is ready to live for herself. And, part of what she wants is Colton.
While I was into the plot, the real selling point of this book is just how sexy it was! I loved how dominant Colton was from their first interaction, and that while submissive in the bedroom, Marina is anything but submissive outside of it!
Wild, Wolf Ranch #2 was a super fun and sexy read and I cannot wait for Rob’s story. 4.5 stars!
I loved the story of Colton and Marina. This was a great shifter story. It told a story of what happens when you are not completely honest with the one you love and try to make decisions for the one you love. This almost cost Colton everything.
I love how each brother is slowly finding their mate and having to go through obstacles to be with them.
It is a great story and would definitely recommend it.
I loved this book this is the second book in this series and it just keeps getting better. I am a fan of this writing duo I know I will be getting a great story. This book meets my expectations. Yes, this is a BDSM shifter story so please remember that when you are looking at this one. If that isn’t your type story you will not like this one. This was a quick easy read for me. This one is worth your time.
Steamy wolf shifter romance that pulls you into the whole story for a fun afternoon!
Loved Colton and Marina
Colton Wolf left home at 18 to join the army. A Sergeant Major Green Beret, he is at a crossroads. He has to decide whether to reup or separate from the army. He is starting to feel the moon madness. He have been all over the world,.and he just found his mate on the side of the road, in a rain storm, not far from his home town. She is young, beautiful and human.
Marina Thompson is excited to out of LA and heading to her sister’s new home on a ranch in Montana. Happy that Audrey found love. Stranded on the side of the road she meets.Colton Wolf. The very hot older brother to her sister’s soon to be husband. He ticks all her boxes. She seems to tick his.
Marina has the best night her life, but come.morning doubts sent in and she runs. When Colton catches up and learns the truth. He makes her pay.
His little girl is young in years and life experiences and he doesn’t want to take anything away from her. He steels himself to wait. He doesn’t explain and Marina misunderstands. She learns the truth. Then he breaks her heart. Colton is determined to win her back.
A sweet and steamy.older man younger women shifter romance. Light BDSM, D/s, bondage, spanking for pleasure and pleasure and punishment. A nice epilogue to wrap up their story. A sweet slice of life bonus epilogue.
Keeps getting better and better!!
Marina is a little minx and I loved it. Finding herself in the same place as Colton during a storm, Marina decided to let her inner hussy out and it was amazing. I couldn’t believe she knew who he was and wouldn’t let him know who she was.
Colton is a straight shooter, however at first glance he is completely flipped sideways because of Marina. I loved how he was with her. He was not only wild but also protective and caring.
Watching these two push and pull on another was fun and frustrating at the same time. I couldn’t believe the amount of self control Colton has being that close to a full moon. I loved that he really wanted to to the honorable thing with Marina but yet clue a girl in!!
“Wild” is book 2 in a new series Wolf Ranch by two great authors Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale. The suspense and excitement starts at page one! And, continues to expand and build until the last word!
Colton and Marina are hotter than hot together! Colton is faced with making decisions for his future and coming to conclusions. He has been in the military for most of his life and is contemplating returning to Wolf Ranch. Marina has family issues, what choices she wants for her future and insecurity issues. They are so different from one another but Colton’s wolf wants him to claim her. And the story takes off from there!!! The story is a steamy read, filled with mystery, fast paced, sexy scenes and romance with desires fulfilled. Each story, just gets better, hotter, more exciting!

Colton and Marina are in town for a wedding and after they will be in laws. Colton is restless after spending ten years in the military. Marina is a young woman in college. The two end up stranded in a motel when a storm traps them there. Colton thinks Marina is too young for him but his wolf wants her as his mate. Marina is attracted to Colton but his mood confuses her. The two end up having hot sex and everything changes for them. An enjoyable read with daddy kink and plenty of steamy sex.
This is Book 2 of the Wolf Ranch series by Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale. I’m a big Vanessa Vale fan, and because of this series, I might just become a Renee Rose fan, too. The world-building in this series is an intriguing various of the therian story line without feeling too formulaic, much to my relief. Yes, it’s that instant, True Mate template, but considering the others of its ilk I’ve read, I’d rather reread the Wolf Ranch series all over again.
Marina is the half-sister of Audrey (whom we meet in Book 1) who has traveled to Montana to participate in the physician’s wedding to a completely unknown rodeo champion in a whirlwind romance/engagement. We have yet another disappointed-in-men-in-general female who finds herself waylaid by Mother Nature in a torrential downpour that floods out the only road to the ranch. She spends a wild night with her soon-to-be brother-in-law at a local motel, only to never tell him who she is lest he has a code against boinking his future sister-in-law. (How’s that for a change!) Her subterfuge is easily revealed to the rest at the ranch when she arrives as they all have incredible noses and sniffs out Colton’s personal scent all over her before the guy even enters the scene and discovers the truth for himself.
Can you say “awkward”?
Of course, Marina doesn’t know anything about shifters and such because no one can tell her about them. Colton is almost ten years older than her and is caught up in the angst of “she’s so young and hasn’t had a chance to experience life…” After all, she has yet to finish her college degree in mechanical engineering. He can’t interfere with that. Forget it that it might be next to impossible to continue life as HE knows it because he is becoming more and more affected by moon madness. To not claim her immediately could spell his own descent into insanity. Okay, he wants to be a good future mate to Marina except… has anyone even thought about asking Marina how she feels about the entire situation? I guess that would spoil the story, you know? But don’t worry. The story does conclude with an HEA with all its usual disclaimers.
Main characters: Marina and Colton do not disappoint. I found it very easy to be very sympathetic in their direction early on. Probably because we progress a little more quickly in the story line, taking major jumps over the usual plot line hurdles and concentrating on what little pages left to expand on their complicated relationship. My only problem is with Colton. Sure, he’s a big alpha male on leave from the military, wondering if he should re-up for yet another tour of duty. His hesitancy? Moon madness. He can rarely shift and run while in the military, and as he is already middle-aged and without a mate, he’s a prime candidate for moon madness, putting those beneath him at harm’s way. After all, he has yet to mate, and his brain is already becoming more and more feral. Oh, he can certainly leave and work on the ranch, but it doesn’t solve the mateship problem… But then he runs into Marina while she’s contemplating what to do as she stares at a swollen river that’s blocking her way to the Wolf Ranch. The awkward human takes his breath away, and in less than two hours, both are playing dominance/submission games, delighting both. Colton is blown away by someone who might be able to handle his need to be extremely alpha with a heavy hand on the buttocks. Marina discovers she really likes her men very dominant and her buttocks well-marked by firm swats. Only she knows who he is, but he has no clue that she’s Audrey’s half-sister. After all, Marina had decided to have a fling. One very, desirable fling with a delicious alpha dude, and done is done while she goes on with her life, really wondering if she wants to be a mechanical engineer just because her father (who’s more out of her life than in it) is one. Of course, the studio audience knows she should use her talents as a baker and go into the bakery business because she can really kick ass when it comes to cake. Amazing how Rose and Vale could fit all this fun in the less-than-two-hundred-page count. It’s not that easily done.
As for the quality of writing, perhaps two different sets of brain cells are definitely better than just one. I found the editing process to be more advanced here but not entirely free of the usual errors. It could have done for yet another read-through to pick up on stupid little errors that often fraught the final manuscript version because the cerebrum does get tired and often misses some of the most basic of errors. At least it didn’t pull me out of my suspension of disbelief. I hate it when that happens. I do appreciate the continued expositional details continued from Book One rather than assume that everyone remembers what happened in the previous read. I appreciate that we continue to see Audrey and Boyd in this book, especially since Audrey and Marina are very close. I would had liked to have seen more of Boyd than we do. I love seeing Rob, the alpha of the family. Of course, Book Three will be about him and more of the moon madness. (Poor pup!) This series definitely does not stand on its own when it comes to the individual novels. Nope! Gotta read them in order! Nothing’s free-standing here!
When it comes to balance… well, I think these two might have just barely crossed the line. Not that every sex scene was gratuitous, but a few of them came dangerous close to pushing the bar. I really hate just skimming through sex scenes because I’m getting bored with them. I want the sex scenes to add to the storyline, not just be there as a “fapping” material. (That’s “masturbation” to those who don’t read manga.) It does do a decent job in representing a more tame BDSM because it does examine the needs of the dom and the sub and does more than just some slap and tickle. Not ideal but definitely better. I only wished there was further exploration of Colton’s BDSM nature because it was really ready to burst out… but failed. I also wished Colton’s dom side and Marina’s budding sub side could have not been so rushed. I’m not saying the overall exposition was missing huge holes. I’m just saying it could have been better.
And what about our villain Jett? Just a mere mention of his cattle being on the wrong property, that’s all. Poopy! I did some exploration and discovered a freebie epilogue at Vanessa Vale’s website (vanessavaleauthor dot com) for that as well as for Rough. Both are cute. Kind of wished she could have just tacked it on the end of the book… I’ve seen two epilogues done.
Would I read this book again. Most definitely! Probably even more so than Rough. Would I go out and buy it? Absolutely! And though it’s not out yet, I would also purchase Feral which is all about Alpha Rob Wolf and Natalie Shefield, owner of an adjoining property Jett Markle is lusting after. Guess who’s gonna cock-block that purchase!
Wild is the second book in the Wolf Ranch series. Colton and Marina are great characters with sizzling hot chemistry. I loved both books in this steamy series and I can’t wait to read the next one.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I admit that I read & really enjoyed book 1 in this series & didn’t think that it could be topped by book 2 . Boy, was I wrong! I LOVED this book so much. And Colton? I alternately wanted to hold my breath & sigh, or wanted to slap the stupid out of him. Marina was perfect for him. Let’s see if book 3 can top this.
Sizzling, sexy, fun romance! Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale bring their stories to life with wonderful writing and storytelling. Love the characters, main and supporting. They feel like old friends. Marina and Colton have incredible chemistry. Colton is as swoonworthy, possessive, and dominant as they come, and sassy Marina is a perfect match for him. I don’t know how Alpha Rob’s story could be any better but I am dying to read it. This sexy romance is steamy as hell and I loved every second of it.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
Marina and Colton meet on the way to the ranch and their chemistry is instant and electric!!! A one night stand, identities revealed, mates found, and a secret exposed. Tons of heat and chemistry, miscommunication and attempted sacrifice nearly costs them all. A great read!
I utterly enjoyed this story about Audrey’s half-sister and Boyd’s brother and I love that we saw Boyd and Audrey and find out what they have been up to. Colton and Marina met on the road to the ranch for Boyd and Audrey’s wedding. She recognized his name, but he never asks her name, he just knows she is his mate and there was insta lust…the road was unpassable, so they headed to a motel till the storm passed. Ho Boy was that a delicious early sexy scene! These two had some heavy chemistry. This book kept getting better and better with more dilemmas than you can shake a stick at. I recommend reading book 1 first because it benefits you in the second book. Looking forward to the oldest brother’s story coming next. I received an arc and voluntarily left an honest review.
WILD is the second book in the Wolf Ranch series. Each book in this series will stand on its own, but now that I’ve met Boyd and Audrey I wish I had ROUGH as well!
Cowboys and wolf-shifters? Oh, yes please. Hand that book over – fast!! Now add in that Colton is a green beret hero and my panties are ready to start melting before I even begin. The story delivered!
Marina is Audrey’s little sister and Colton’s mate. Poor guy is so torn. She’s more than 10 years younger. She’s his new sister-in-law’s sister. She’s human and has no idea that shifters really exist! Denying their bond means risking moon madness. Caving in has him questioning his morals as a chivalrous man.
The chemistry was instantaneous and undeniable. Surprises were fun. However, once they finally stopped arguing with themselves mentally and started talking to one another, the romance was set in stone for both of them. They were both at crossroads in their lives and meeting one another is perfectly timed by fate. Sigh!
I absolutely enjoyed reading WILD. I loved all of the characters – not just the Colton and Marina, but everyone. In particular, I hope the oldest brother, Rob, will get his story soon.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

One of the biggest reasons why I like and read renee’s books are is, that she never makes me wait too long for the next part and of course because she writes amazing kinky reads!!
This one was a new for me,. I have never read cowboy type books before and i must say that this one did not disappoint me at all. The story line was good and the characters were good. This book was a pretty simple read for me and the story was rather short. Here we meet Boyd’s brother Colton who is on his way home for his brother’s wedding. There on the way he meets marina, whom he does not know is Audrey’s sister.
This book is recommended to all the contemporary romance lovers with a touch of kink in there steamy scenes.
OMG! I loved this book!
Colten and Marina were great! Their attraction was instant and their chemistry was off the charts! Colton knew when they first meet that Marina was his mate. He just had to convince her. This story grabbed me from the first page and didn’t let me go! I couldn’t put it down! I love the Wolf Ranch series! I can’t wait for the next book!
This is the second book in the Wolf Ranch series. It can be read separately, even thou it has the two in the first one in it. Marina is in her last year of college. She is on her way to her sister’s wedding (she is from the first book) and Colton is a military man on his way to his brother’s wedding (he is from the first book). The road to the ranch gets flooded and Marina is unable to cross, while standing in the rain Colton pulls up. Upon smelling her he knows she is his mate. He gives his name and she realize he is her sisters soon to be brother in law. She is very attracted to him and sees this as a one night stand. He thinks he doesn’t need to know her name right away, due to her being his mate. So they go back to the motel for a night of wild sex. She ends up running the next morning to the ranch. He wants to give her the matting bit, but feels she is young and still in class. So he things he can wait for her. She feels he doesn’t want her. They have issues assume what the other wants and needs to work it out. This was as always a great book. I can’t wait for the last brother’s book.
