This book hits with the action and never stops. I loved this and I recommend this to anyone who likes shifters, romance, and reverse harem.
Great RH
This debut book from a new Author was a random pick for me. I’m a huge shifter fan as well as RH. I was impressed! The story was fabulous! It was long unlike most books nowadays and satisfying. There were lots of steamy scenes and characters that were very well written. I personally loved Zachary. I am looking forward to reading more books from this author. Five glittery star!s
5 Stars!
Let me start off by saying I absolutely adored this book. From beginning to end, I was hooked. I adore shifter books as a rule, but this one stood out from the usual cliches. The men fit the stereotypical tropes, but it really worked and I couldn’t imagine them any other way.
The Kingson Pride is a fast-burn reverse harem series that follows the story of Riley Stern, a half-breed, and her being introduced to the shifter world. Brenton Kingson is a lion shifter and the Alpha of his pride, and the only four members are men he considers brothers. Zachary is his second, and also a white tiger shifter. Andrew is the third in the pack and is a cougar, which leaves Gabe and Troy, who are half-brothers with a month between them in age, and they’re leopards.
This book is filled with dominant men, sexy scenes, and an adorable little kitty called Star. Kristen has amazing world building skills and character development because I felt a genuine connection to the characters, and truly understood why they were the way they were.
Positives: fast-paced, enticing storyline, and I loved the intimacy (not just sex, but all of it).
Negatives: it kind of bugged me that once Riley entered a relationship with her men, she dropped her friend—one is fair enough, the second kind of irks me. It’s something small, but it’s always something that I dislike. With that said, there are another three books (two plus the epilogue kind of book) so this might come back up and I really hope it does.
I’ve got quite a few questions that I hope the next books resolve, including the cliffhanger, and even Riley’s backstory.
Honestly, this book was compelling, and funny and I genuinely loved it. This was my first from this author, and it won’t be my last! Beware it does end on a cliffhanger, but the series is now complete so that shouldn’t matter at all.
Kristen has a wonderful ability of creating worlds we would all want to experience. I love this series!
Squeeeeeeeee…. This book was fu***** awesome!!! It pulled me in and wouldn’t let go. I read it in one sitting. More like devoured it like a box of chocolate. Yummy!
I can’t wait to read the next one in the series. I highly recommend this book.
Wild pride is the first book in a paranormal reverse harem series. As you probably noticed from the amount of reveres harem stories I recently read, this genre is one of my new favorites.
The premise of the book is so awesome and promising that I threw myself into it with full force. And I actually really liked it but this is the first time that I actually neede to reduce some starts from my rating due to grammar and spelling mistakes. I usually don’t criticize this part of books especially since I’m not a native English speaker so I feel I don’t have the right or the necessary knowledge to do so. However Wild pride was in a series need of an editing, spell-check and their friends or whatever the hell they call it. From the first page to the last it’s full of misspelling, some horribly structured sentences, words in the wrong from or even missing, the wrong words here and there, sentences that make no sense, bad punctuation. You get the picture. Which was annoying even for me, who can generally overlook problems like these in small doses. It also slowed down my reading process quite a bit. Although, the fact that I loved the story even despite the faulty writing, is the testament for the awesomeness of the storyline.
The world the plot takes place in is pretty standard when it comes to paranormal romance. It’s our world with a spice of shifter society hidden in the shadows. The characters in focus in this case are mostly cat shifters, which is my favorite kind. This was a huge positive for me. I loved the supernatural element to the book and how the plot interlaced with it.
The plot itself is pretty up and down. There are a lot of exciting and eventful parts to it , however there are a few slower and more laid back chapters as well which broke up the dynamic of the storyline a bit.
The book is narrated alternating between Riley and the 5 gusy from the pride. What was interesting and also something that needed a bit getting used to on my part was the whole 3rd person POV. It’s not an unusual thing to happen but I mostly read first person views.
The characters, I loved in the end but the guys didn’t quite start out on the right footing. But first the protagonist, Riley. she is not the usual look at the bright side of things girl, she is pretty bitter about her life and voices this quite vocally. However during the story she goes through a lot of changes, acceptance and she shows several different sides of herself. My favorite of her personalities came out at the very end of the story where her confidence and spunky attitude shows the most.
The guys come off as a bunch of closed off a**holes at the beginning but later as they get to know Riley they start to warm up for her and avoided the lewd comments. My main problem with them was that despite it being voiced several times that which pone of them represents which personality, their characters just didn’t commit to these characteristics. Their actions just contradicted the stereotypes they were bound to represent, and I know that people are usually more complex that one personality trait the way it played out here was a bit disconnecting. I can’t tell yet that these changes are the results of a possible character development yet.
Despite my problems regarding the book I’m sure that I’m going to read the rest of the series because the plot is really interesting and it hooked me. It was a great read even with my struggles.
I really liked Riley and her guys. I liked that while there is instant attraction, they take time to get to know her and let her adjust to the changes going on. Each of the guys is unique and brings a different dynamic to the relationships. Riley grows throughout the story, and really has a core of strength. I’m looking forward to book 2.
