Master illusionist Nicholas Pine has learned the hard way that nothing–and nobody–is what they seem. So when he runs into sexy antique shop owner, Zelda Quincy, he knows there’s more to her than meets the eye. Still, what he sees is very, very intriguing…and he can’t get her out of his head. Zelda has spent her whole adult life running away from her family’s reputation. She’s changed her … changed her name and tried to move on. The last thing she wants is to return to the world she left behind, even with someone as hot as Nicholas by her side.
But after one hot night–she’s addicted–and so is he.
Too bad the skeletons in Zelda’s closet won’t stay hidden for long…

Wild Nights by Katherine Garbera
Jokers Wild Series
Nicholas Pine and Zelda Quincy meet when she confronts him outside her shop that sells antique magic devices. They chat, he tells her what he is looking for, she says she will let him know if/when it arrives and that should be that BUT there is chemistry. Why? Is it because he is a magician looking for a device that plays a huge part in Zelda’s past or…is it magic….or…perhaps chemistry?
This is a short story that deals with people who have trust issues, are not truly open with one another and have past baggage that is dragging them down. Throw in an ex with a motive to increase the tension and a few other things and you have a quick steamy story to read.
If you like magic, magicians, illusions and an easy quick read with a bit of sizzle then this book might be for you.
Did I enjoy this story? Yes
Would I read more in this series? I think so
What I wonder about? Zelda’s sister and what will happen in the future for this couple.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled-Brazen for the ARC – This is my honest review.
3-4 Stars
Holy smokes…This whole story was fascinating, I just loved this story, Fabulous, sizzling read… I was held captive, not wanting to stop reading this book. This book was filled with all sorts of goodness. You have to get your copy today. Happy reading everyone!
Another Joker finds his Queen. Nicholas is an illusionist and only allows a few people to get close to him. Zelda is hiding who she is from everyone around her. Trust doesn’t come easily to either of them. This is a fun, witty and flirty story. Watching the interactions between Zelda and Nicholas reminds me of two lions circling each other to see who will pounce first. They are a sleek couple who’s characters compliment each other perfectly. The characters in this series reflect the fun of Vegas which entices the reader to keep coming back for more.
I very much liked Wild a Nights, which surprises me. You see, I hate magic. Hate it with a passion, don’t go to or watch magic shows on tv. It’s just never been my thing. So I wasn’t sure how this was going to go when I was offered an ARC from the publisher. I just hoped that my underlying dislike of something so crucial to the plot didn’t influence how I felt about the book as a whole.
Well, it didn’t. In fact, it made it more interesting, since magic wasn’t the theme, it was just a small part of the backdrop. Forgiveness, guilt, betrayal and love made up Zelda and Nicholas’s story. I was wrapped up in their interacts and enjoyed the sprinkles of illusion that were woven into this tale of two people who seem very different but are actually very similar. Very easy to read and both sweet and sexy…those scenes are open door, but less graphic and wild than some…Wild Nights gave me a small behind the scenes look at magic that I didn’t have before. It won’t send me out to by tickets to a show, but it didn’t distract me from the great love story Katherine Garners created.
