After one bad relationship too many, Peaches Guidry came to the mountain resort town of Antero, Colorado to start over. Now, she’s manager of a great restaurant and on her way to bigger and better things without anyone complicating her life. The upcoming grand opening of the local brewery’s new pub is the perfect opportunity to introduce more customers to her menu. A partnership with Antero … Brewing could bring her business to a whole new level.
But then Colin Brooks strolls into town. Rugged, yet charismatic. The bad boy with a heart of gold–the kind of man she can’t resist.
Her friends at the brewpub, though, are quick to tell her Colin isn’t exactly new in town. He’s the black sheep of Antero and disappeared years ago without a word. Now he’s back and hoping to prove he’s changed, but the welcome they give him is harsher than the winter winds.
She knows she shouldn’t be falling for someone that everyone says can’t be trusted. And getting tangled up in his wild past could ruin the future of everything she’s worked so hard to build… So why can’t they stay away from each other?

I really had a good time reading this story. Colin has some bridges to fix and he’s ready to do whatever it takes to make that happen. Peaches works hard, works to help build the business she works at and I loved that strength she has. You can feel an immediate spark between the two and there’s a perfectly slow burn, getting to know each other and spending some time together. All the characters kept me pulled in, the flow works well, and the journey these characters take while upping that chemistry. This is my first read by this author and I look forward to digging in to other books in this series!
When Colin comes back to Antero, it’s with redemption in mind, not charming the gorgeous chef at the Salty Goat. But she’s captured his interest with her beautiful face and kind eyes. Perhaps if he can make a go of it this time around, he can have it all – his friends, his brewpub, and love, too.
Wild Love is a sweet story with two likable leads. It’s not the most original or the most exciting, but it is entertaining and cute. I especially loved Colin’s dog’s name – Wiseass!
When I picked up Wild Love by Meg Benjamin, I sincerely thought I had read one of her books and genuinely liked it in the past. Upon further investigation, I found that she actually is a new-to-me author. And anyone who follows my reviews knows I love checking out authors whose books I’ve never read before. And I love small-town romances. While this is book three in her Brewing Love series, I’ve never read books one and two so I can say without a doubt that this is a true standalone book within the series.
How do you make amends when life puts you in a no-win situation. Colin Brooks is trying to do just that. He’s officially hit rock bottom and desperately wants to claw his way back up. Just not exactly to where he was. He wants to be better than that man. Peaches Guidry is an inherently good person who’s entire family has always reached out to help those in need. At times, it’s cost her money and her pride, but never her heart. Will Colin prove to be the one that finally costs her more than ever or is he her happily ever after, after all?
NICUnurse’s Rating: First of all, I liked how this book had just enough backstory to whet my appetite to find out more about the secondary characters in this story without being a huge information dump. If I ever get caught up on all the books I’m reading for the blog, I’ll definitely go back and pick up the first two books in this series. I swear I will…I just have a crazy long must-read list right now. The romance is definitely a slow burn. But Colin is coming from such a place of hurt and of so many wounds, instalove for these two characters wouldn’t have given quite the realistic picture. Colin is quite literally clawing his way back to being a respectable man and citizen of Antero, Colorado. He’s not a bad guy. He’s just had a nearly impossible, no-win situation thrown at him and literally has no one but his loveable pooch when he lands back in the one place that felt like home before he was ripped away. Peaches is one of those people that try really hard to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and she thinks Colin definitely deserves that much. And a helping hand but not a handout. There are some really touching themes in this story about being kind, open-minded and caring to those that a community may not be so forgiving with. While it may not be a true five star read for me, Wild Love was a well-written, pleasant use of my time. For fans of contemporary, small-town romances and giving people a true second chance at redemption, you’ll truly enjoy this book.
I give Wild Love by Meg Benjamin 4 out of 5 stars!
Who is Peaches Guidry? What is she creating? Where is Antero? What is happening there at the moment? Who is Colin Brooks and what about his little friend? Oh my gosh, his little friend’s name was a hoot! Who is Liam and what happens when he sees Colin? Who are Bec and Montgomery? What stipulations are put on Colin? Why is everyone so mad at him? Why is he back? Who are Devin and Patrick? I really liked all the characters but Alicia and Patrick. What happens when Patrick shows up in Antero? What does he want from Colin? This ended with me having a huge grin on my face.

This is the first time in reading this author. When you find yourself relocating and starting over you hope for the best. That is what Peaches has done with tasty results so far too. But then along comes that boy whom can tempt even the most stubborn. Colin has a struggle that is not what one would expect coming back. Then again there is a story there. The chemistry is there with each drawing to each other like a magnet. Follow them to see who wins or if there is even a fight. Find out the answers to questions that will pop up. I will take the puppy though lol.
I live clear across the country from Antero, Colorado but the people don’t sound too different from my rural area. That includes the bad and the good. Meg Benjamin brings much of that into the light with Wild Love. So in many ways this is a story with which I can identify since I hear “I remember when…” from too many who are not seeing how people can change.
Peaches Guidry is new to town so she doesn’t know the bad reputation of returning Colin Brooks. One new and one returning find an instant attraction that leads to friendship. My favorite kind of story which Ms. Benjamin writes wonderful. The reader sees the character’s individual stories and dreams as well as the friendship between the two that leads to romance. Peaches Guidry coming to Antero, Colorado turns out to be not just best for her but best for the town. More than having a great chef in town they have a great person. The title Wild Love may imply it is a wild out of control couple but it’s not that at all. It really is a story that is well written with heart and warmth.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
You will love this book! It is well written, delicate and I confess that I could not put it away until the final page was read.
Colin does not have a easy path and his redemption is humbling. I know that second chances are not given easily, specially after he has disapointed so many people. However, Peaches is the right woman to support him through this path and he is ultimately a good guy who deserves a chance.
Meg Benjamin has a delicate and human writing and the characters are so truthful and real. I loved how they build their relationship slowly and carefuly. The book has many great scenes and hits deep in feelings.
I loved it!!
This is a story of love and redemption. Colin is back in Colorado looking to redeem himself with the people he has hurt. On his road he meets a wonderful woman, Peaches, who becomes his North Star. Peaches is a care giver at heart and brings out the best in Colin. In the process she manages to bring all the parties together, bring Colin back into the fold, and fall in love. One of the two best characters of the story are Wiseass the dog and Carol the restaurant owner’s daughter. Both are open and straightforward in their love for others and brings joy to the people around them.
More sweet than steamy romance. Both have pasts that make this relationship hard…
What a sweet love story. Peaches Guidry has high hopes for the new brewpub coming to Antero and she wants her restaurant, Salty Goat, to make a splash at the opening. To that end she continues to think of items to make for the food part of the event. The pub will take care of the drinks obviously. This restaurant has become her life since settling down here.
Colin Brooks has returned to Antero, Colorado to apologize for his inconvenient departure which put his brewpub partners in the lurch. What they don’t know is that he had very good reasons for leaving and staying until things were solved. However, the solution brought him back to Antero with absolutely nothing. His car broke down as he entered town, he has the clothes on his back basically and no money for a place to stay. When he is given an opportunity to rectify what he had done, he takes it, all while knowing he still has no place to stay or much else. When he goes to Salty Goat, he finds they need a janitor. Wow, having grown up in luxury, taking this job is just another sign that he has fallen about as far as he could go.
This was such a great story of overcoming hardships, pulling yourself up, taking responsibility for your actions and giving and taking help as it is needed. Along the way two lonely people find they enjoy each other’s company. Some plot devices were inevitable and others were surprising. This book is written in dual POV. Loved the ending which brings everything to a happy conclusion. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Entangled/NetGalley and I give it 4.5 beautiful stars.
4 Star review Wild Love by Meg Benjamin
Meg Benjamin is a new author to me. This is a story based in Antero, Colorado and is Peaches Guidry and Colin Brooks’s story. It was well written and I found the characters easy to relate too.
Looking to improve her business, Peaches wants to go into partnership with Antero Brewing. Peaches is intrigued by Colin, who has returned home to Antero, despite her friends warning her to be careful.
There is more to Colin than his bad boy reputation, if only people would give him a chance to prove he has changed.
There is a lot of toing and froing between Peaches and Colin and at times I felt the story dragged a little, but then that is only my opinion. This was a sweet and at times romantic story that was entertaining.
I recevied a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley
While the storyline was interesting and well written, I just didn’t feel a lot of chemistry between Colin and Peaches ( that name, too, wasn’t doing it for me. I rarely have an aversion to names but I have a big time one with Peaches).
Having not read either of the preceding books in the series, I was slightly confused as to Bec’s witchiness towards Colin. I mean, I understand some hurt and anger, but I’m wondering how their relationship was described in her book. Either way, Wild Love can be read as a stand-alone.
The elements for a great romance were there, but it wasn’t a great romance to this reader.
I can always count on Meg Benjamin for a smart, sweet romance featuring likable characters who act like adults and who actually like each other and have a real connection. This book is my favorite in the series and a great end to it. In the previous books, Colin was always a mystery. The way he just left town and left Bec and Liam holding the bag with no explanation left a huge hole in their lives both personal and professional, and they had to really scramble to fix it. Consequently, when he finally returns, their anger and disappointment is palpable and justified. Colin knows he screwed up big time, but because he IS a decent guy, he owns his mistake and is willing to do what he can, within reason, to make amends for it.
Meeting Peaches when he first returns is the one bright spot in his life. She’s everything fresh and cheerful and there is an immediate mutual attraction between them, but what I really liked was that they developed a friendship, not just a romantic relationship. They were genuinely nice and respectful toward each other and it felt like their relationship had a good foundation for the future. There’s a bit of melancholy underlying this story due to Colin’s actions in the past and his attempts to make amends in the present, but by the end of the book, there is a sense of relief and hopefulness that he has righted all of his relationships with the other people in Antero and can move forward. As for Peaches, she’s also on a good, hopeful path toward getting what she wants in life (romantically and professionally) and the book ends on a high note for both of them.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wild Love by Meg Benjamin a brewing four-star read. This was sweet and romantic and had plenty of flavour, this was my first read by this author but it wont be the last as I enjoyed the writing, so will be going back to read the other stories in the Brewing Love series as if they are as good as this one I am sure I will enjoy them, I should note that they truly are stand-alone’s in the series as I haven’t read any of them and didn’t feel lost. Peaches and Colin both have great stories and they will make you care about them; Colin will surprise you with how much you care for the bad boy and get his story. Overall this was lovely and well done, it just took a little while to get going, if the whole thing was written with the pace of the last half it would have been five-stars.
Enjoyed it
