Gill, the Duke of Coventry, has never been the sort of gentleman who woos ladies with effortless ease. In fact, he’s never even kissed a woman, let alone courted one. But as the new duke, he’s in need of a wealthy bride to replenish his dwindling familial coffers. Preferably a sweet, calm bride who is equally reserved. A bride who is nothing at all like Miss Christabella Winter.Christabella is … Winter.
Christabella is looking for passion. She longs for forbidden kisses in hidden alcoves, for a dashing rake to sweep her off her feet. Therefore, her dratted infatuation with the shy Duke of Coventry makes no sense. Particularly since he cannot be bothered to speak to her in complete sentences.
When she inadvertently learns the duke has never been kissed, however, Christabella forms the perfect plan. She can show him how to win a lady’s heart and kiss him out of her system at the same time. But the problem with kisses is they often lead to something more, and soon, the only heart she wants him to win is hers.

Another brilliant story in the series
This is another brilliantly written story in the series. The plot is full of emotional twists and turns. The characters are portrayed beautifully, and have great fortitude. This book is great for anybody who loves steamy historical romances.
An unusual Regency romance where the rich girl falls in love with the poor guy, knowing he’s interested in marrying for money. It’s also unusual because not only is the girl a sweet innocent, but so is the guy! If you’re interested in a sweet love story, this one’s for you!
Interesting characters.
A Beautiful Romance!
This was an absolutely delicious story.
I loved the main characters, Christabelle and Gill. She is really feisty and outgoing and he is the exact opposite, tripping over his own tongue when he is able to use it.
The story itself is fast paced with some heated moments and others which are downright funny but it reads like a dream.
Most definitely a beautiful romance which I am happy to highly recommend!
The first page began with filth, so I could imagine what the rest of the book would be. I just deleted it immediately.
Cute love story.
Loved it, could not put it down!
Characters didn’t have much depth. Neither did the story.
Fun read. Lots of dynamic characters. Lots of Beauty and the Beast hints. Impossible conflict?
Woman meets man, brings out the best in him.
Good read
The book kept me interested, the characters came alive, and the storyline was original. When these things happen, the author has done their job well.
Enjoyed book. Fast read. Had interesting storyline not same ole one.
Gill, the Duke of Coventry, has never been the sort to woo women with effortless ease. He has never even kissed a woman, let alone courted one. As the new duke, he is in need of a wealthy bride to replenish his dwindling familial coffers. He would prefer a sweet, clam bride who is equally reserved. Christabella is looking for passion and longs for a dashing rake to sweep her off her feet. Her infatuation with the duke makes no sense. He cannot even complete a sentence when speaking to her. Christabella inadvertently learns the duke has never been kissed. She plans to show him how to win a woman’s heart and kiss him out of her system. The problem with kisses is they often lead to something more. Soon, the only heart she wants him to win is hers. – I loved Christabella’s feisty and bold character. She was fun and charming. Gill was kind, noble and passionate. Christabella’s sisters and Gill’s brother were good characters and helpful. I enjoyed this sweet, fun romance.
3 1/2 Stars! Book 6 in the Wicked Winters series. Novella length told in dual POV. Can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone, this is the first book I have read in the series. Secondary characters are family members who had their own books in the series. I loved Christabella! Growing up in a big family she has no filter and she is just what quiet & insecure Gill needs. Listed as “Scorching Hot” I would call it more sweet with a little steamy!
I enjoyed this book. It was a very entertaining romance novel.
The appearance of the man brandishing the sword at the wedding breakfast was a bit over the top.
This is my first book in the series and I loved it. You will not be lost if you haven’t read the other stories of the series, so stand alone.
The blurb tells you it is scotching hot and it is so if descriptive body part and action offend you then pass it. Heat level 5 out of 5.
The “F” word is used several times and I thought it was unnecessary.
Our H had an awful childhood that caused him to withdraw from groups. He couldn’t talk when it was uncomfortable which was always with people were around. Our h was perfect for him and not intimated because he was a Duke. I loved the transformation the h caused in the H.
Romance builds slowly, HEA, no cheating, no cliffhanger for our couple, but more siblings are discovered so I can’t wait to read their stories. (ljb)
Before I was done with the first chapter, I knew this book was a keeper. I’d loaded it onto KU (thus Amazon penalizes me by not showing this as a purchase), and then forgot about it for a while. My bad.
I’ve managed to read three books in this series now, each one out of order from the one before. In fact, I think this may be the last book in the series, and I don’t believe I’ve read the first. Call me backwards. Call me anything you want, but you can call me totally and completely captivated by Christabella and Gill. Wild in Winter indeed.
The character of Gill, The Duke of Coventry, is put together so well, that you like him the second you begin to read. You don’t know WHY you like him, but you do. He’s sort of backward, innocent, grumpy, and most of all, amusing. Then you meet Christabella and OMG, you can’t help but cheer for their romance.
This is a well written, amusing, entertaining, and highly recommended book. Recommended by me. 🙂 And thank you to both the author, Scarlett Scott and the wonderful Harlots of Facebook for bringing this author and me together so I can enjoy these wonderful books of hers.
The Winter sisters are a force to be reckoned with, and Christabella is known as the hellion of the group! That’s not a bad thing, since it helps her get a reaction from Gill, the Duke of Coventry!! Gill is very shy, is a man of few words and he’s a virgin, not having even kissed a woman. He’s also got a past that will break your heart.
I so enjoyed their story, you can’t help but gasp at some of Christabella’s antics, especially for a woman of that era but you also can’t help but laugh at how she gets Gill to respond to her. Teaching each other how to kiss is a brilliant idea, but one that comes with consequences! Falling in love was not part of the plan but then plans often go awry, don’t they!! Oh yes, this story is delicious and Scarlett Scott knows how to keep your attention from start to finish.
I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series (gasp!) but now I will be certain to read them as my interest in the Winter sisters has certainly been piqued!!
Usually I recommend book 1 in a series, but this one was my fav of all the Wicked Winters! I ADORE the hero: socially awkward, painfully shy, and very virginal. As always, the author’s books are chock-full of sexual tension, which was great. Definitely my favorite of the series.
