When half–wolf shifter Frankie Newman receives an e-mail from a family member she didn’t know existed, a secret is revealed: as a child, Frankie witnessed her father killing her mother…and then himself. Frankie was torn from her pack by her mother’s human relatives, and the trauma was erased from her memory. Realizing that she’s been lied to her entire life, she’s never felt more alone. Until she … she catches the scent of an old friend—warmly familiar and intoxicating.
Trick Hardy, enforcer of the Phoenix Pack, can sense the rush of mutual attraction when he sees Frankie again. He knows immediately that she’s his true mate. But he also knows that, given her fragile state, he needs to tread with care—no matter how fierce his surging desires.
As aroused as Frankie is by Trick’s darkly dominant air and simmering desire, her priority right now is her past—not her future, no matter how tempting. But as more secrets emerge and Frankie’s life is threatened, Trick must do everything he can to keep her close and safe. After all, it’s their destiny.

I just love Suzanne Wright. She is one of my favorite authors in the paranormal romance world. I know when I get one of her books that I will be in my happy zone. Wild Hunger was as awesome as I hoped. I have been waiting for Trick’s book for so long. I will be honest and say that I thought Trick’s mate would have been male. I was looking forward to a good M/M shifter read, but I wasn’t disappointed in the way things turned out. I ended up loving Trick and Frankie.
Trick was everything I love in my paranormal heroes. He was supportive, sexy, dominant, and completely kicked ass. Frankie was sassy, brave, and funny. I loved that she was open and honest. I also really love that they didn’t fight the mating bond or take forever to figure it out. It was sweet that even though they knew they were mates they didn’t actually mate right away but instead got to know each other and had a real relationship, dates and such. Trick gave Frankie time to deal with everything going on in her life. They were just so good together. I also really enjoyed the plot. Wild Hunger was another win for The Phoenix Pack Series.
What a ride! Thought after so many in this series it would be boring, But Suzanne Wright has proved me wrong. Lots of romance, action, Edge of your seat action. Laughter where the ladies get drunk with Greta. LOL.
Definitely recommend this book and series. Keeper
Thank you for a great read and afternoon to remember
The Phoenix Pack is back and as usual with this series, Wild Hunger packs quite a punch. Trick and Frankie are two very strong and captivating characters that easily draw readers into their story and then holds them hostage with a very intense and wildly exciting courtship. The romance is on the sweet side with some blistering chemistry that has passions burning hot with blazing hot love scenes. But the relationship has quite a few obstacles to be overcome before this mating bond can kick in with quite a bit of emotional angst involved which has readers sympathizing with Trick and Frankie, especially since this coupe is easy to connect to.
This fast paced story not only keeps readers in suspense regarding their relationship but of the outlying problems that put a damper on their relationship but the dangers and problems facing them get the adrenaline pumping and makes them hold on the edge of their seats with anticipation and thrills. Frankie’s past throws the couple as well as the packs for a loop when it comes back to bite her and Trick is the target of a psycho shifter due to an enemy that quite frankly I found to be dangerous but weird and stupid as well, I mean why would work with someone that would destroy you for no reason? Surprising twists and unforeseen betrayals keep readers guessing and the thrills coming so there is never a dull moment to be found in this read.
Wild Hunger is wild and intense and I was completely lost in the book from the very beginning so I just had to keep turning the pages until I had read every last one. I think Bracken’s book is next and just let me say that I really, really can’t wait to read it, I just have to know if he’s going to be able to overcome the tragedy that torments him. (Note: Bracken’s book will be the 4th Mercury Pack book)
I have been an avid fan of Suzanne Wright’s Phoenix Pack books since “Feral Sins”, but I can honestly say that Wild Hunger may be my favorite of the series. Trick has always been in the background for me; sort of vague, but interesting. I liked how the author handled his sexual history and how adamant he was about how gender wasn’t important to him; only SHE was. He was laser locked on the heroine, Frankie, from the first moment. No fighting, no doubts, no angst; just a dominant/possessive, but attuned male who was there for his mate. And what a heroine the author gave us. Frankie was strong and independent without being bull-headed or stubborn. She never had a TSTL moment and although she was justifiably hesitant of Trick and the pack, she wasn’t closed off. She was a great mix of smart, sweet, tough, vulnerable, quirky, and grounded, She handled her relationship with her maternal family in a believable way that never came across as whiny or self pitying, and stood up for herself to them in a way that was just so dang adult and reasonable. The relationship between Trick and Frankie progressed at a believable rate and they ACTUALLY COMMUNICATED WITH EACH OTHER. I loved that they were adults about it and there were no huge misunderstandings.
I enjoyed the suspense portion of the story and how it tied directly into the main characters’ story arc. The inclusion of so many characters from previous books can be a bit confusing if the prior books in this and the Mercury Pack series haven’t been read, but the author does do a little info/character dump towards the beginning of the book that helps to clarify all the ties (sort of – it is still a lot!) My only quibble is that I thought the different threads of the plot maybe dovetailed a little too conveniently, but it is a minor quibble. I loved the heck out of this book and cannot wait for the next installment.
This is another one of my favorites of the series. I like that Trick is 100% looking for his mate and ready to get to that part of his life. Combined with the fact that Frankie is half-shifter and mostly living in the human world – it gives this book a little bit more of a unique feel. Wright definitely has a formula and most of her characters have similar personalities, but it’s still nice when there are larger story elements that differentiate the books from each other. I also really enjoyed the mystery/suspense element and the interaction with the Bjorn Pack.
There’s also a little hint at some things going on in the Mercury pack that tease Echoes of Fire.
Jill Redfield is still amazing. This is a HUGE cast of characters, male and female, young and old – and even though the packs are expanding and merging, she gives them all unique voices and characteristics. You know exactly who is talking at any given time.
Series Notes:
The Phoenix Pack books are intertwined with Wright’s Mercury Pack series.
Best shifter book I’ve read in awhile. This was my first book by this author and I loved it!! And I look forward to reading more of this series.
Book 7 in Phoenix Pack series by Suzanne Wright
Trick has been a big part of this series but always felt he was separated especially when pack members started to find there fated mates.
Frankie is a half shifter brought up with her maternal grandmother that was very rich and stopped the pack from her dads side seeing her or contacting her.
Trick never properly committed to anyone because he’d already met his mate he just didn’t realise till he met her again as adults and her scent called to his wolf.
Absolutely love this writer and the pack stories she creates. If you have read already check out Mercury Pack spin off.
Wild Hunger, is the story for Trick & Frankie. Another great addition to the series. I love that it was somehow different. It was refreshing to finally see someone who is eager and happy to find the mating bond. Filled with the usual suspense, action, passion and humor though I miss the banter between the females and Greta and Dominic’s cheesy line. This is another great read for me.
I have been waiting to read Trick’s book ever since I read Marcus’ book. No that’s a big fat lie !! I have been waiting to read Trick’s book, ever since I read that naughty little scene in “Feral Sins” (book 1), when Trick and Marcus got down together !! Wow that was awesome 😉
Now so far, Marcus and Roni’s book has been my favorite and this is still the case after reading Trick’s book…but…he is definitely a very close second !! I should have known he was gonna be awesome. Out of all the men in the Phoenix pack, he was always been the relaxed one, the one who wanted to find his true mate. I loved how he helped Marcus out with advice about Roni in “Dark Instincts” , and Marcus did pay him back big time in this book.
See those of you who have read the previous books in this series, know that Marcus and Trick used to scratch each other’s itches. It had nothing to do with romance though. Even though they don’t get down like that anymore…they are still the best of friends and Marcus does prove this more than once in this book.
Which only made me love him more, if that’s possible 😉
Trick has always been open to finding his true mate and bonding, so it’s no surprise, that when he does come face to face with her…he knows…right away. There is no case of signal blocking when it comes to Trick and I found this very very refreshing !!
As for the heroine, she is half human half shifter. Until she was three, she lived in the same pack as the old Phoenix gang (including Trick). This is when her shifter father killed her human mother, and himself after. That’s when her maternal grandparents took her away. She has been living in the human world ever since, only shifting every now and then to let her wolf out, but not knowing about packlife.
Her grandparents never told her the truth about all that’s happened, and when Frankie finds out she is livid. She also finds out that she was a witness, but somehow her three year old self has suppressed all her memories….
She might not know that much about wolves and living in a pack, but she does know that her extreme reaction towards Trick, is not normal. It doesn’t take her long to figure out they are “True Mates. For her, there are some signal blocks getting in the way of their bond, but this is to be expected. She doesn’t deny Trick though, and again…this was very refresing…No push and pull and no games. These two really were a breath of fresh air 😉
They were also very HOT !!! I knew Trick was gonna be HAWT !!
There is a lot more going on in this book, but I am not gonna kiss and tell about everything. You should just give this series a go !! I promise you won’t be sorry.
I don’t recommend reading this book as a stand alone. It might be possible, but you would also miss out on so much information and greatness !!! I highly recommend this entire series !!
My reviews are posted at WendysWyckedWords @wordpress.com
I am an avid fan of all of Ms. Wright’s work and this one is no different. If you have read the series then you know it was only a matter of time before Trick met his true mate. Frankie is a half human/half shifter who has lived only with humans until one day she receives a letter that changes her life. Filled with angst, action, sarcastic witty banter (as per usual) and hot sex scenes I was delighted that Trick and Frankie found their HEA. 4 stars!!!
Another amazing story for The Phoenix Pack! I have been missing them and this story was AMAZING!!! Trick finds his true mate in Frankie. Of course things can’t just run smoothly. You have exes, family, extremists, and rogues on the horizon. I love that we also hear from the Mercury Pack! I can’t wait to see what is in store for us next!! And hopefully SOON!!! 🙂
I’ll never get tired of these stories. Suzanne Wright could write a million more and I’d read every single one! I couldn’t believe my luck when I realized this sexy gem was actually “read and listen free” in Kindle Unlimited! That’s freaking amazing!!
For whatever reason, I didn’t expect Trick’s story to be so sweet. I swooned so much. He’s such a thoughtful and sweet mate. Gah! Love him! He just jumped to my second favorite alpha of the bunch. No one will ever top Trey. IJS!
Here’s the breakdown: Frankie Newman is unaware she has long lost family until a phone call from her aunt leads her to question the connection. The revelation of family she never knew existed sets off a series of events that changes her life drastically. In the best ways.
What I loved:
Errmmm….Trick. See above. LOL Seriously he was unbelievably amazing. The insta factor is always a favorite of mine, as well. Trick is protective, thoughtful, caring, and so much more grounded than I anticipated. I love those types of sweet surprises.
The plot is well planned, though it teensy bit convoluted at the end.
It is obviously HOT AF, cause that’s the author’s MO. She excels at delivering a fantastic PNR romance that will set kindles ablaze….each and every time!
My only real issue with this story is that fact that is was repetitive in place. Like…noticeably repetitive. I would have preferred a shorter version than hearing the same thing multiple times.
Other than that, this is another superb addition. I’m already looking forward to more!
Recommended!
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I bought this book already and the whole series because now I want to read them all!
The cover drew me in with the man, wolf, and beautiful mountain.
This is the 7th book in the series, but it is my first time reading Suzanne’s work. It will not be my last because I loved it. I now own 12 of her books. This book is for adults only due to the steamy content.
From the start, Frankie was awesome because she strong and doesn’t let anyone walk over her. Even though her family doesn’t approve, she is an artist. Along the way, she learns she has family she never knew about. She handles things better than I would have if I found out my family had been lying to me my whole life. She meets her wolf family and Trick. Trick knows that she is his mate, but this is all new to her.
This book was action galore, and it was a page-turner where you never knew what was going to happen next. I love this pack, and I can’t wait to read more about each of them. I couldn’t put it down. This author may end up on my fav author list.
I highly recommend to any wolf shifter fan who love action, mystery, and intrigue throughout the whole book. Can’t wait to read more of this series and more of Suzanne’s work.
This is a great addition to the Phoenix Pack series.
Frankie is a half shifter wolf who was reared by her maternal grandparents after witnessing her parents deaths when she was 3 or 4. She is not connected to a pack, and her relationship with her grandparents is up and down. Out of the blue, she receives an email from a paternal relative that starts a snowball effect. Everything she knows will be challenged.
I enjoyed Trick’s and Frankie’s story. I did not want to put the book down. The secondary conflict did not detract from the story. It felt like life, I liked that Frankie wasn’t rude or naive. She pieced things together and used common sense . I enjoyed seeing a different side of Trick. Trick compliments Frankie and their relationship shows it. It was nice to see both packs interacting again. Its always nice to see the old characters and find out what has happened to them.
I would recommend this book and series. I think you could read this book as a stand alone, but reading the series will give you background information about each characters trials.
This is Book 7 in The Phoenix Pack. It can be read as a stand-alone book. This is the first book of the series that I have read, and it was really good. Frankie is a half-wolf shifter who was raised by her mother’s human family. Frankie’s parents were a murder-suicide or, so the story goes. She receives a letter from her father’s wolf pack and decides to meet them. This is when she meets Trick, the enforcer of the pack. This was such a good story. There’s love, romance, family and a mystery. What more can you ask for in a good book? It’s all here. When you meet Greta, you will be meeting a character in a half. She’s gruff but loves her boys. I really recommend you reading this book. Now I have to go back and read the first six books in the series. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Love this series from Ms. Wright. The characters are always fun and engaging and the first-time are off the charts hawt!
This story featured Trick and Francesca (Frankie). I liked the two of them together and, although there wasn’t a lot of the usual angst and drama about whether or not they were fated mates, there was still plenty of heat along with some danger and suspense. I was a little surprised at who Trick’s mate was, I thought he would be in a menage relationship (since it’s well known he liked both makes and females). Still though, I quite enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one.
Note: although this book is a stand-alone, I recommend reading the other books in the series for maximum enjoyment.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley but my thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.
Wild Hunger by Suzanne Wright is book Seven in The Phoenix Pack series. This is the story of Frankie Newman and Trick Hardy. I haven’t yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Frankie who was once a part of pack but after the traumatic death of her mother and Father. Her human family came for her and she has lived as a human. But after getting a email she goes back to help solve what she can’t remember that happened during that awful time. The she meets Trick again and their is a instant attraction between them. Trick of course starts to see that Frankie is his true mate but he has to move slowly with her.
Exciting read…makes me need to go read the other books!!
Until she catches the scent of an old friend—warmly familiar and intoxicating.
Frankie grew up with a lie. Now Trick and his pack are shining the light on her family’s past and in the process he’s staking a claim. When villains start coming out of the wood work from every direction, she finds a safe place with him and the Phoenix pack even as her mind slowly struggles to piece the missing pieces of her parent’s murder together.
I absolutely loved how Trick knew immediately that Frankie was his true mate. His original plans for that moment and time have to be revised however as she has issues to deal with. I loved him even more for his eternal patience with her as she works through them. He was a great hero with a sense of humor, strong alpha tendencies to keep her safe, and sexy talk that could curl your toes.
Frankie was not a tough bada$$ heroine as I was expecting. Instead, she was sweet and cute, a bit fragile but at the core of her was an inner strength that was a perfect complement to Trick. I loved her quirky irritation with proverbs and the way everyone around her was confounded by attitude toward them. Her heart was all about family and hers had hurt her deeply and I wanted there to be a solution so she could “have her cake and eat it too”.
The ending is an explosion of action and suspense. So much happens at one time that I refused to look away from the page even for a moment. The resolution of her memory loss was well developed and I believed it for what it was.
This was a great shifter, mystery, suspense thriller. Yep. All of that. And I loved every moment of it!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Montlake. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Trick likes to give his woman details, “I’m going to take you. Possess you. Eff you so hard you’ll never want anyone else. And when we’re done, I’ll do it again.” Trick tries his best to have some manners, “I will have you, Frankie. But it won’t be up against a car. Not the first time, anyway.” I loved this book, I loved Frankie and Trick, the man was patient but still kept his alpha bossy atitude.
