The book was wonderful each book in the series gets better and better.
I love this series and this book is the turn of Gemma! We meet her in book 1 as best friend of Londyn. She’s a high flying businesswoman but her past was never about money. With a super tough upbringing living in the junkyard she’s searching for something in life, but not really sure what.
When she starts her journey of self discovery, making some huge changes to her life, little does she’s know what she’s going to find. Re-visiting “Greers” and the Ranch she used to stay at, including Easton with whom she has history! When she arrives he’s full of disdain towards her, with snide comments, cutting remarks and making things awkward. However Gemma is struggling to deny the sparks and chemistry she also feels.
This was a great story and can be read as a standalone or as part of the series. I can’t wait for book 3 and Katherines story!
TEN STARS **********
Oh Devney Perry you slay me with your mad writing skills. We patiently waited for Gemma’s story in Wild Highway and you do not disappoint.
So many feels I devoured this book shhhhh during work hours because I couldn’t stop once I hit 75%.
Simply amazing story- love Gemma and her strength and fears and Easton- WHAT A MAN, and all the secondary characters- his family and a little update on Londyn.
I cannot wait for Katherine’s story next. This is the best series all the hearts and starts and moons.
This is absolutely the most wonderful series. The first book was adventuresome, sweet and laid out the series with Londyn. This story was the life of Gemma Lane as she went from homeless to powerful but hadn’t found a home – a lifetime place to settle and be accepted. To totally understand the story-line, I recommend the first book and keep on reading. Each book can stand alone but the basic foundation of the series is so compelling, I just can’t wait until the next book is out. There are tears, sensual scenes and deep heartfelt stories of childhood that makes you keep reading. Thanks to the author for writing such meaningful books; I love them.
I’m absolutely loving this series! Wild Highway is book two in the Runaway series–each of which tells the story of one of a group of runaways who lived in a junkyard together as kids. Gemma has worked hard to make sure she would never be seen as “less than” again. She has been successful in everything but still feels like she doesn’t fit anywhere and has never really had a home. This story is her journey to finding not only that place, but that feeling of belonging. I loved Gemma and Easton and their story was just beautiful. I can’t wait for more of this series.
It’s official; this series is stacking up to be my favorite, I just know it. Devney Perry knocks it out of the park again with her second book in the Runaway Series, Wild Highway.
The heroine Gemma is an independent single woman with a hard past hell-bent on becoming a success, which she does, tenfold. Of course, success, wealth, and an empire won’t warm your bed at night. So when a getaway opportunity comes along, Gemma makes a snap decision and takes it—leading her back to someone from her past and a beautifully passionate romance that only Devney could bring us.
Wild Highway is feels on feels on feels; everything needed to fill a romance reader’s heart.
What author is going to take a beloved children’s series and build on it to create something totally new? Devney Perry, that’s who. I mean, I absolutely adored RUNAWAY ROAD, the first book in Devney’s Runaway series. I fell for Londyn and Brooks immediately, and I knew that this series was going to be a ‘move everything around if you have to, but read this’ kind of thing, because, OMG. Emotional and passionate, the books in this series are proving (no surprise) to hook me in from the first page, and keep me reading until the very last.
I love Devney’s storytelling, but even I wondered how she could follow up the first book in a way that would make the rest just as wonderful. Well, she did it. WILD HIGHWAY is imbued with all of the passion, all of the emotion, all of the ‘tug at the heartstrings and leave me a weeping mess’ intensity that I’d loved in RUNAWAY ROAD, plus some.
Gemma and Easton are second-chance romance at its finest. There is no way in the world that these two weren’t destined to be, because, even in the initial dance, you know, the one where they pretend that the other doesn’t exist, the pull between them was magnetic. Their story is filled not only with passion, but with heartache, with yearning, and, finally, love, and believe me when I say that I was a mess waiting for them to get to their happy.
I can’t get enough of these books, and I am dying to get my hands on QUARTER MILES, Katherine’s and Cash’s story, and next up in the series. In the meantime, 5 easy stars for WILD HIGHWAY, and a wholehearted recommendation to read these books. You will love them, I guarantee.
5 Stars
Gemma and Easton have a history, one neither of them have wanted to think about for over a decade, one that hasn’t been forgotten by either one of them. When Gemma stops in Montana on her way to California, she figures seeing Katherine will be a short visit and she can avoid Easton and his attractive eyes that always seem to see her. What really happens is a new adventure as Gemma attempts to decide what is next in her life and where is home. This book will make you laugh and make you cry, in the end if one thing is for sure, it is that home is sometimes a place we never expected it to be, with the only people who matter.

It absolutely amazes me just how effectively Devney Perry pulls you into the mind of her characters and the lives she crafts so beautifully for them.
Gemma Lane is most definitely ‘a lost girl’ and before you finish her story, you too will be that same lost girl!
You will experience emotions you don’t really expect to feel from loneliness, to resilience, to hope, to joy and to sadness, all in the space of a few hundred pages!
Ultimately though you will, become part of a very special family unit with Gemma and Easton, who were ultimately destined to be together.
Will you buckle up and take on the Wild Highway? One thing’s for sure, you won’t regret it if you do!
Wild Highway is the second book in Devney Perry’s Runaway series. I love the unique idea of the car being passed from person to person in each book and then we get to see where it takes them. In Wild Highway, we get to join Gemma on her journey. She’s decide to sell her business and leave the corporate world behind. While she’s headed to California, Gemma makes a stop in Montana to make amends with an old friend. While she’s there she runs into Easton, a man she spent one night with before she left Montana. What ensues is a great enemies to lovers/second chance story. Gemma and Easton have great chemistry and I love their banter. As the story unfolds we see who Gemma was and who she has become and Easton helps her get to a place of acceptance. As always, Devney’s fantastic writing pulls you in and you won’t want to stop reading until you get to the end. PS: if you love a hot rancher, Easton is your guy!
Get ready for another ride in the Cadillac as Gemma continues its journey to California and the elusive Karson. But first she is making a pit stop in Montana to make amends with Katherine, who she left behind for her life in Boston–along with Easton Greer. Will she find the forgiveness she seeks as well as a second chance at love? This is a must read book with all the feels! 5 stars
Holy tension, Batman! Gemma and Easton had it in spades, and I just wanted to relish every single bit of it. There was angst, but not the same sort that you’d find in Devney Perry’s other series because these Runaway books–well, at least the first two that have been published–have a more lighthearted feel to them. I’m not saying they’re romantic comedies, because they most certainly are not, but they aren’t as heavy as my other Perry reads. My hat’s off to the author for not providing some sort of easy fix for our main characters. There’s a healthy serving of apprehension to go with the tension, and Gemma certainly had to earn Easton’s trust back. The fact of the matter was, though, that Easton had no guarantees whatsoever that she would stick around eleven years after she ran away from the ranch. These two were stubborn but when those walls broke down and they allowed themselves–and their hearts–to truly be open, you could see the realization that they were it for each other. I’m giving Wild Highway five stars out of five stars, and I’m already counting the days until the release of the third Runaway book!
When I picked up the first Runaway book Runaway Road earlier this year it became one of my favorite reads of 2020 and I couldn’t wait for the next book! As soon as I saw this one on my kindle I could not contain my excitement for it! I loved how it pulled me in. I enjoyed this story!
Gemma and Easton’s journey wasn’t quite an easy one. I really liked the fact that there was history between these two and how they were brought back into each other’s lives. I really enjoyed getting to dig deeper with Gemma and her realness got to me. I also enjoyed being in Easton’s mind and feeling his emotions.
I felt so much with these characters throughout reading and I had to finish reading their story in one sitting!
With Wild Highway, Ms.Perry has created another awesome read! I can’t wait for the next book in this series, Quarter Miles!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author*
If you’re like me and had been following this series, then you’d know that Gemma is the friend of Londyn from the book one and the proud driver of Cadillac to head to over to California. But on her journey, she decided to pass by to Montana to visit an old friend and come face to face with an old flame, Easton.
In this story of second chance, small town romance, we continued to get to know more of the kids who grew up in that junkyard. Gemma and Easton’s chemistry is still present even after eleven years being apart. What I love in this series, is the close knit family relationship in the small town and their shenanigans. I especially love their obvious meddling, love and loyalty to each other. I’m wholly invested in this series and I can’t wait for what’s to come!
Wild Highway…book 2 of the Runaway Series. A definite must read!!
6 runaways living in a junkyard in California…all looking for, hoping for a better life.
Gemma and 2 of the others embark on a journey to find that better life. The first leg of the journey takes them to the Greer family resort in Montana. The girls thrive there…but the offer of more money and a better life cause 2 to take a journey to Boston.
Gemma develops a successful life in Boston…quite the entrepreneur. More money than she would ever need…yet something is missing from her life. Despite her success…she doesn’t feel like she belongs.
Her quest to find what is missing…she continues the journey her friend in Runaway Road began with taking the Cadillac to California. She detours back to Montana…to make peace with a friend … to put her heart at rest…so she can continue the journey to find a place of belonging.
Her plans are derailed when she once again encounters the charismatic Easton Greer. A romance that picks up where a one night stand left off 11 year before.
Gemma finds peace in her heart…and the sense of belonging she had always been searching for.
This book truly deserves way more than 5 starts, Wild Highway by Devney Perry was everything!!!
This book was a hard one, yet such a beautiful life book. This was a book about a woman trying to find her place, she is someone who is just trying to find someone to ask her to stay. Gemma was a character that I legit wanted to go inside the book and protect, she was trying to find her place and feel that she belonged somewhere. The last place she thought she would go back to was the place she ran away from, what she wasn’t expecting was to see Easton once again. Easton was filled rage when seeing Gemma again, he knows what it’s like being left without a single word so he isn’t going to let Gemma back into his life just to have her run away again.
Easton and Gemma were everything, there’s a scene that I was in tears and unable to stop crying. This series is seriously everything. Devney Perry just wrote a book that is going on my list of “My most favorite books of all time.”
Get ready for the perfect summer read! In this second chance romance your emotions will be all over the place and you’ll love every minute.
I fell into this book and didn’t want to come out of it. The amazing story telling about this family (because it’s about the family here as well as the couple!) dynamic is so heartwarming. Your rooting for this couple and while that’s happening your getting amped up for the books to come as well.
You can’t go wrong with this book, it will enhance your summer and make you want to go on a road trip to Montana!
Easton and Gemma shared one night together years ago that was so much for both of them that they never forgot about the other when Gemma left both him and the sleepy town in her review mirror to go build her business. When Gemma returns to town after her life becoming numb and selling her empire, Easton is determined to drive her right back out. Gemma reunites with her best friend and a dare causes her to stay and the feelings that Gemma and Easton had for each other in the past start to reignite. Easton refuses to admit that Gemma hurt him more than he lets on and that may stand in their way of a second chance.
Wild Highway is a small town second chance romance that grabs your attention right from the beginning and hits you right in the feels. Gemma’s story of self-discovery was perfect and captured the essence of a small town. Easton was the classic stubborn cowboy but also the gentleman that Gemma finally let in. They were able to rekindle their connection and have their second chance. I can not wait for the next installment of this series.

Take me to Greer Ranch and lose me forever.
This is book two in Devney Perry’s Runaway Series and I can’t love it enough. Emotional, fun-loving, written perfectly with one sexy as hell cowboy named Easton Greer. Looking for your next summer read? Wild Highway will have you packing your bags and taking a cross country trip to Montana by page 2.
4.5 Easton and Jigsaw stars!
Wild Highway gives you so much romance to indulge in it’s decadence. It gives so much small town comfort and a road trip.
I fell in love with this book. I’m an absolute fan of second chance romance and this one hit all the marks. It was unexpected and fun.
I love this series.
