Wild Flame by Micalea Smeltzer was an emotionally intense story with a lot of witty humor that captivated my heart! The moment I opened this story I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to put it down until I reached the very end because I was hooked right away. This story was not like I originally expected it to be, but I think that’s why I couldn’t get enough of it. Sure it wasn’t what I thought it would be…it was so much better! I absolutely adored Rush and Kira so freaking much and I inhaled the author’s beautiful words. She is such an incredible storyteller that her words leap right off the pages and I feel as if I am experiencing the story through the eyes of the characters. These characters are uniquely dynamic and one of a kind. There was just so much to love about their romance.

Rush Daniels, drummer for The Wild, and Kira Marsh, a college student working toward a nursing degree, are two damaged characters just getting through life. Both come from tragedies, intense and life changing. Although neither are looking for a relationship, or love, things don’t always work out like they plan. I loved these two characters, both together and apart. As damaged as they were, they needed the other to heal. I will admit this book is a little wordy, but otherwise it’s definitely a must read.
I requested this book straight from the author since I am a total fangirl about the Willow Creek series. If you haven’t read The Willow Creek Series–buy it! Now! Believe me you will not regret it. Both Willow Creek and The Wild series are rock star romances.
The Wild is a band that the guitarist, Joshua Hayes from Willow Creek is mentoring. I mean who else would you want as a mentor than a guitar God?
Sorry, it I hadn’t stopped myself, I would’ve keep ranting about how great the guys from the Willow Creek series are. I told you that I fangirl with that series. I love that there are numerous scenes where the Willow Creek guys appear. EEP!!
Kira and Rush both have a past that’s haunting them. The unexpected happens to them, first they have to deal with their own individual issues before returning to each other. Rush needs to come to terms with his demons and family issues. Kira needs to learn to trust especially men. That means confronting the one person she never thought she would.
The author addresses a few issues such as trust, parenting, alcoholism, and friendship through Kira and Rush. Beautifully composed…brilliant character development…terrific supporting characters. An emotional rollercoaster!
Fangirl Alert! Cameos from Willow Creek assist Kira and Rush with their transformations.
Wild Flame was such an intense and good read! From the way it started off, I knew I was in for the ride. Rush and Kira have been through a lot in their lives and made them who they are today. They are so much alike so of course they had an intense chemistry. Their relationship suited them so when the unexpected happened, it was fascinating to read how they would handle it. I felt for these two. Their past was sad and tragic. But I was all in for Rush and Kira. I loved the time they spent together-the banter, the interactions-it was great. Though this was a book about a couple, it was also about Rush and Kira as individuals. I loved that and it really made them endearing to me. I also loved the brotherhood between the Wild Flame guys-it was heartwarming and fun. By the end of Wild Flame, I was in love with Rush. This book had it all-humor, sexy, sweet, angst, and of course the Willow Creek guys. I’m really interested in Cannon and Fox and I’m excited for who’s next. Their stories will be great for sure. #BlushForRush

Rush and Kira are an extraordinary couple, and they have that once-in-a-lifetime kinda love I only hope i’ll experience in my own life. A must-must-MUST read for anyone that loved the Willow Creek or Light in the Dark series. Or if you just want a story to rip your heart out and slowly mend it back together.
