I love the Wilder Irish series! And July Flames is as hot as the title promises! 😉
When former military man Fergus Collins started his security business with his cousin Finn, he never realized that his first job would tie him in knots in more ways than one. Fergus is a man of his word, beyond loyal and deeply cares for friends and family. Fergus is a true Collins in every way.
Aubrey Summer has made a name for herself but is trying to leave the adolescence of her career in the past. Moving on to bigger and better things Aubrey is on her first tour with some strange instances occurring that ruffle her unseen feathers. Aubrey is a beauty and talented yet she has given herself The diva persona. Trust issues played this beautiful woman that has made her hard around the edges but it’s truly a dear once you get to know her.
I have no clue how Mari Carr does it time and time again. July Flame’s is everything I love in my romance world. Fergus and Aubrey’s chemistry is on fire and continues to grow as the story goes on. The laughter that comes out of these pages is amazing. Blending the emotions with Mari Carr’s style of humor always makes a great book. No Wilder Irish Book would be complete without the beloved Collins clan. Suspense, humor and emotions, what more do you need
My heart! Fire indeed from the attitude to the literal flames. Aubrey has allot of demons but thank God for the Rottweiler assigned to her.. though she’ll deny she needs it. But Fergus will battle all her demons and then some, especially for her heart. (I was in literal tears from that epilogue).
Another fantastic read from one of my favorite families, the Collins’. Wild Fire (previously July Flames) is Fergus’s story. I love the way each of these stories begin with a prologue with Pop Pop introducing these wonderful characters as a young child and what makes them into the adults they are today. Fergus Collins was born to be a soldier, a protector who fights with patience, kindness, and control.
After nine years in the military, Fergus is back home and started a security company with his cousin, Finn. As a favor to his cousin, Ailis, and her rock star husband, Hunter, his first client happens to be a former child actress turned music diva, Aubrey Summers. Aubrey has been developing quite a reputation as a diva and not so nice, but she may have a stalker and in need of a bodyguard, enter Fergus. Fergus was warned about how he may be treated, but with advice from Pop Pop and seeing behind the mask Aubrey has been wearing, he sees the true Aubrey. He sees the damage that the people who should have loved and protected her had caused. His patience and determination to keep her safe breaks through and Aubrey slowly learns to let down her guard. I loved their story so much!
The suspense portion of their story was great, definitely kept me guessing who it could be. And like the prologues in each of these stories, the epilogue is also top notch. I love this family so much and looking forward to reading more.
July Flames is the seventh book in the Wilder Irish series. I was a little hesitant to read this as my introduction to Carr’s writing, but I had no trouble getting tangled up in this family – even seven books into it. Each book can be read as a standalone as the story strictly follows the couple’s journey. However, there is a family tree you can reference if you want to catch up on how everyone is related.
I was really intrigued by the description of this book. I have a thing for rock star romances, but this one had a twist. Instead of the guy being the rock god, it was the heroine.
Aubrey Summers is trying to break away from her teeny-bop persona, known as Jenny Sweet, and enter into the industry as a serious musician. Not only will she be leaving Jenny’s character behind, but all the ghosts and demons attached to the fictional character. She’s on her first official tour as herself when strange things keep happening to the people around her. After each incident, she receives a rose with a cryptic message. Aubrey has too much on her plate to be worried about some crazed fan.
The last thing Fergus wants to do is follow around some spoiled, frigid celebrity. After leaving the military, he wanted to get his security company up and running. He never thought his first task would be being hired by a star’s label to be her bodyguard because she keeps firing every guy to tries to protect her. Aubrey has another thing coming if she thinks she can scare off Fergus Collins. She’s in danger and putting everyone around her at risk. He has six weeks to figure out who’s behind it all while trying to keep Aubrey safe.
“Then he tried to figure out when his mission had changed. Sure, he’d been hired to protect her, to discover the stalker if he could, but his personal goal had morphed into something much larger and harder.
He wanted to save her.”
While this book had its ups and downs, I really enjoyed it. I feel like Aubrey is misunderstood – not only in the book but by the readers too. She starts out as a horrid character but changes into an outstanding one by the book’s conclusion. Fergus, and the entire Collin’s gang, was wonderful from beginning to end. I can’t wait to pick up the rest of the books in this series soon.
4 stars!

Fergus is finally home from the military, opening a security company with his cousin.Aubrey is a former child star, turned pop “diva”. She is rude, disrespectful, angry and untrusting. She’s had a hard life, with an unloving mother, who used her repeatedly. She has no idea what the meaning of family is. Fergus has the most amazing, loud, crazy and loving family ever. Now, he’s her bodyguard, and she’s gone through a few. He must protect her from a stalker, deal with her terrible attitude and above all, protect his heart from her. If that doesn’t work, he must figure out how to earn her trust, then her love. Once again, I LOVE THIS SERIES!
I have loved every book written about the Collins family, starting with the Wild Irish and continuing through all of the Wilder Irish books. Fergus has recently left the military and returned home to Baltimore. He goes into business with his cousin Finn and starts Collins Security. Before they are even in business, Fergus is hired as a bodyguard by his cousin’s husband to guard a teen pop star. She’s now past her teen pop years and relaunching herself. She grew up with one of the worst stage mom’s ever and now Aubrey needs help with a potential stalker situation. She’s changing bodyguards as fast as she changed clothes, except this time the label hired him so she cannot fire him. The best thing Fergus has no idea who she is so she doesn’t need to “be” someone around him. She starts the book as a pretty prickly woman, but it soon becomes apparent just how bad her life was, and how much she wants it to be different. I loved this book and the suspense aspect. It was a great story.
A great storyline! Hard to put down! Intense and Emotional! Hot Chemistry! I truly enjoyed this read! Get it and Read it!

Fergus Collins is former military. He decides to start a security business with his cousin Finn after he gets out. His first case, protect Aubrey Summers a former TV teen show personality and now music star from a stalker. He is hesitant at first because he heard about her reputation and the fact that she constantly fires her bodyguards. He takes the case because the record company hired him and Aubrey can’t fire him. He is not impressed when he first meets her and soon realizes that he has his job cut out for him. He can make it, he only has to stay until the tour is over. Aubrey Summers is strong willed, stubborn and has major trust issues due to being used by the people around her, especially her mother, her former manager. When she meets no nonsense Fergus, she does everything she can do to get rid of him, but he won’t be deterred. Fergus is determined to find out who the stalker is. Accidents happen to anyone upsetting Aubrey. As the tour continues, these two strong willed people bang heads quite a few times. Things begin to change as they both get to know one another. Soon a romance develops. This also causes the stalker to up his game. Can Fergus keep Aubrey safe and find out who is stalking her before the tour is over? What will happen to their relationship too?
I really enjoyed this book. I love this family. The chemistry is great between these two characters as they develop and grow throughout this story. I especially liked how Fergus finally realizes that he can’t do this job on his own and enlists the help of the rest of the family to help him find the stalker and protect Aubrey. In typical Collins fashion, Aubrey is accepted as a member of the family, something she has longed for. I laughed at the antics of some of the Collins men as they fan girled over Aubrey because they used to watch her show. There are a few twists and turns as Fergus tries to find the stalker and the suspense builds up on the last night of the tour as we find out who the stalker really is. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more of the Collins family, especially Pop.
A very entertaining adventure filled with emotional twists and turns, heart pounding action and undeniable forbidden passion… was a thrilling read from beginning to end. The charters are all very interesting, the setting engaging and really enjoyed this journey.
This was fun.
Here we have Fergus and Aubrey, she’s a megastar of music and acting, and he’s the guy hired to protect her from a stalker while on tour.
As the story advances we really get to understand while Aubrey is such an angry and distrusting of everyone around her. I really see why she is the way she is and OMG, what a mother. Grrrr
As for Fergus, he was nice and I loved how he showed her how a real family looks like and how they treat each other. She really needed some people on her side.
All in all, it was a fun read. Personally, I found them falling for each other a little fast, but wasn’t all that bad and the story is short and to the point, so no issues there.
*Thank you to NetGalley for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*
It never ceases to amaze me that Mari Carr gives us 2 different people, from 2 different backgrounds and show us clearly that love can always be found in the right circumstances. There are always those that will not have any redeeming qualities and sometimes we have to walk away from those to find the love of our life. Loved it!!
Let me start by saying that I normally do not read Rockstar books. I tend to find them to be a**holes and the women to be slutty, but this is Not one of those stories. I LOVED THIS BOOK! I could not put it down and Aubrey and Fergus have perfect chemistry. I recommend this book, you will not be disappointed.

Each character that Mari Carr writes I fall absolutely in love with. July Flames is no different. In this installment in the Wilder Irish series, it’s Fergus’ turn. He’s out of the military and starting a business with his cousin. He’s asked by another Collins clan member to be a bodyguard to Aubrey.
Aubrey has some issues from her past, mainly trust issues. She’s acquired some tough skin and doesn’t let anyone in. But Fergus does just that, as he gets past that wall that she has set up around her heart. It was great to read their banter. And let’s not forget the smoking sexy scenes, Mari Carr writes some very steamy stories.
If anyone needed some family loving, it was Aubrey and what better family than the Collins family, especially Pop Pop.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I absolutely flew through reading this book because of just how great Fergus and Aubrey were together. But the total icing on the cake was that epilogue!!!! The epilogue alone was worth five stars as Fergus and Aubrey sat down with PopPop for a private concert. I don’t normally select romances featuring rock stars because I often find them to arrogant and full of themselves. However, I have loved every book that I’ve read in this series so far so I went for this one. I’m glad I did because Aubrey while at times bratty is definitely not what I expected. Fergus on the other hand is the perfect bodyguard, former military, dedicated and exactly what Aubrey needs. Plenty of romance and some suspense made this yet another great entry in the Wilder Irish series.
A strong willed woman who isn’t afraid to speak her mind and hold firm is a sexy thing even when you are trying to avoid sexy. A strong willed man who refuses to let someone try and change how he does is job and trying to avoid temptation is just as dangerous.
Aubrey has a stalker and refuses to take it seriously. She has hired and fired a number of bodyguards since they are not working out. Rather they are not working the way she wants them to work. Her latest bodyguard is Fergus, who has just gotten out of the Army. The only problem is that she can’t fire him. Oh she keeps trying to fire him but she is not the one who hired him. Her record company has hired him and he reports only to them.
Fergus has gotten out of the Army and is wanting to start his own private company offering security. The only problem is that he needs a little bit more money. He is offered the job of working as a private bodyguard. The amount of money he is offered makes it hard to say no to the job. But he isn’t too sure about the former pop star and the drama surrounding her.
Aubrey’s stalker is a serious threat and Fergus takes his job seriously. Even though Aubrey doesn’t want to take things seriously, Fergus is taking everything seriously and doesn’t allow himself to be far from Aubrey.
Fergus is trying to avoid the sparks that seem to fly off both him and Aubrey whenever they are within 20 feet of each other. Aubrey is also trying to ignore those sparks. But those sparks are enough to start a huge bonfire while at the same time there are real life fires happening.
As always this is a well written novel by the incomparable Mari Carr. It isn’t one of my favorites in the Wilder series though. But it is still a great read with well developed familiar characters and a fantastic plot.
I was provided with a copy of this novel by the author in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
July Flames is another great Wilder Irish story by Mari Carr. I love the Collins family. They are always entertaining! Fergus and Aubrey have a hard time accepting their attraction. Their story is a sexy, suspenseful page turner! You don’t want to miss this book. I can’t wait for the next one
Well, Mari Carr wrote a heroine that I didn’t like very much, in the beginning. But, she did grow on me and I came to respect her, her music and her opinions. And, as for Fergus … he’s a Collin’s … do I need to say anything else?
Like I said, Aubrey took a little getting used to. She was surly, didn’t trust anyone, and, basically, had a chip on her shoulder. But, she had her reasons and they were good ones. It’s hard trying to get back everything that she lost and even harder to trust anyone when it was her own mother that betrayed her. With a stalker on the lose injuring anyone who seems to piss her off, she can’t help but try to change her attitude and finally listen to Fergus. But, having him so close 24/7, playing Truth or Dare, just confiding in him has her heart and her libido up in flames.
Fergus can’t believe that his first job is with a pop star on tour. But, he’s serious about protecting her, finding out who her stalker is, and he will stop at nothing to do that. He’ll answer to Rottweiler, he’ll play Truth or Dare, he’ll push his limits just to find out what her hard limits are. But, through it all, he’ll keep her safe from everyone, including her mother.
With the help of the Collins Clan, he’s able to see just what he has in Aubrey. He also found out that the Collins Curse is real – when they fall, they fall hard and fast. Lucky for him that he had his Pop Pop to guide him, his Mom and Dad’s to show him the right path and his cousins to always have his back. But, Aubrey was the one to get the most out of this deal – she got to find a real family that won’t use you, that will support you and love you, no matter what.
What a wonderful story July Flames was. It was, as usual, truly heartwarming. The Collins’ know when to circle the wagons, when to show someone that they are loved and cared about. And Mari Carr knows how to write these beautiful characters with such flare and grace. It’s unbelievable watching each of the men and women come alive and find their love. She has a way with words, with bringing out the best and worst in people that just keeps you interested in her stories. I can’t wait to see who is next to fall to the curse. Bring on August!
July Flames continues the Wilder Irish series. You could read it as a stand alone but this whole series, in my opinion, is better read in order I just love the Collins family so much! July Flames tells the story of Ferguson and Aubrey. Aubrey is a tough cookie and hard to like at first but she grows on you by the end. Fergus is a Collins so what’s not to like.
I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see what the next one brings! I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Reading is a passion; as in, it is likely my read list is well over 100,000 books in my lifetime. It began at 4 years old (no, it was not romance novels ). When a story line (or series) is so engaging that a typo does not even hit my English grammar radar, you KNOW it is good. I can’t even say if there are any in Mari’s books. What I can say is that I want to be adopted into this family! She describes the perfect picture of loyalty, love, family unity, vulnerability and fears within each character. When I first saw that we were going to learn about Fergus next in the line-up, I thought, “Wait, I don’t know enough about this guy yet to feel engaged to his story!” An artist paints a picture for the eyes, Mari paints pictures with her words for your soul; and I can’t say enough great things about her writing. Compelling, heart-jerking, inside-head yelling and warm fuzzies with a side of happy sighs. The only problem I have is waiting for each new one to come out after binge reading all available books in both series in one week!
