New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Ashley brings a new story in her Chaos series featuring Dutch Black…Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.
I was beyond thrilled when it was announced that Kristen Ashley would be releasing stories for not one but both of the Black boys. Anybody that has read the Chaos series knows how important that the Black family had been thru the series, and if you haven’t this will be a good taste of it.
First up in 1001 Dark Nights novella which is a standalone story is Dutch Black’s, the oldest of Graham Black and Keely’s sons. He was very young when his Dad was killed, one of the Chaos brothers Hound stepped up and was like a Dad to both boys while they grew up. Hound is now their stepdad after marrying Keely.
The story opens with Dutch doing a favor for his brother Jagger by picking up his girlfriends’ sister from the airport. This turns out to be a pretty hilarious “meet cute” between Dutch and the sister Georgie. The sparks fly between these two Dutch doesn’t really want to be there and Georgie has her mind set on what kind of person Dutch is being that he is part of a motorcycle club! They bicker and banter from the moment he picks her up till he drops her off at her condo. Dutch is the ultimate alpha biker, bossy but with a heart of gold, Georgie is a stubborn sassy independent woman but they work and have each other’s back.
Dutch had been working at a youth center with a young man Carlyle that father had been murdered. Loved Dutch’s relationship with Carlyle. When Dutch told Georgie about it and being a reporter, she decided to wade in and Dutch catches her in the wrong place!! There goes the explosion and one thing leads to another and they begin working together to solve the murder. In comes the Vance, Eddie, Chaos and away we go…!!
Loved all the cameo appearances but especially all the moments we got with the entire Black/Ironside family members!! Star of the show Murtagh the cat!!
It was funny, as always very well-written but there were moments in this book that brought on the tears.
Wild Fire was an amazing addition to the Chaos series. Can’t wait for Jagger’s book!
Dutch is lost, trying to find where he fits in with the club and in life, when a kid even more lost than he is wanders across his path. No matter how hard he tries, Dutch can’t find a way in with this kid.
Georgiana is a reporter assigned to the kids beat, writing up stories about kids that have gotten a bad rap and can’t find an easier way out of it. She’s had an understandably bad day when Dutch does Jagger and his on again, off again girl, Carolyn a favor and picks up Georgie up from the airport where she proceeds to give him a hard time for the whole ride.
The connection between Georgie and Dutch, even in the midst of their bickering is so clear everyone around them can see it and the sexual tension once they apologize to each other is off the chain!
Reading as Georgie watches Rebel’s Chaos movie for the second time had me in tears even though it was only in the 2nd or third chapter. The attention to detail Kristen Ashley gives to the love Graham Black was showing his oldest son, and Keeley was so strong it was palpable. It becomes very clear that the trouble Dutch is having in acclimating to his adult life traces directly back to the death of his father, and the damage it did to him, his family and his club. Georgia’s ability to piece all that together so quickly has made her a lifelong favourite of mine.
There are places I felt could have been stronger, the conversation between Rush and Dutch about working with Beck’s club could have been explained better I think, but all in all I am incredibly happy with this quick return to Chaos.
I love the tenderness between Dutch and Georgie, and Georgie and his family. I can’t WAIT for Jagger’s book, and the new Chaos MC Book! I think overall Kristen Ashley nailed it!!
The queen of MC romances is back with another out of the park hit.
The novella follows the story of Dutch Black, whose fathers were/are pillars in the Chaos MC Club. Dutch is struggling with feeling adrift and suffocating in his role in the club, but then he meets Georgiana Traylor, a fiery and passionate journalist who, although doesn’t make the best first impression, is exactly what he needs.
This story was moving, gut wrenching, and beautifully consuming. I absolutely adored our main characters. Georgie was sassy, soft hearted spitfire with strong principles. She is the perfect woman for Dutch, taking care of him, offering her support and standing by his side. Dutch, *deep sigh* I really wish I could dive into the pages just to wrap him in a massive hug. Dealing with grief and loss of a loved one is never easy, its so admirable that he does everything he can to honour the memory of his father by being a man he would’ve been proud of and helping someone in need, even when that situation cuts too close to the bone. He was protective/possessive of Georgie, he was sweet, honourable and kind, and just all round an amazing human being.
I was so happy to be reunited with the OG Chaos squad and my Rock Chick boys from Nightingale Investigations. I absolutely cannot wait for Jagger’s story.
Thank you Social Butterfly PR for the ARC.
I’ve been following the Chaos MC for years in these books and I was so excited for Dutch’s story and Kristen Ashley did not disappoint. This was a novella but packed such a punch. Ever since I read Tack’s story years ago, I’ve wanted to know more about the man that was Black and his family. I love how this book gives all those glimpses of him, especially knowing that Dutch ended up growing up to be just like him, along with Jagger. They are about family through and through and love so deeply. I loved the easy relationship between Dutch and Georgie and I loved how much emotion was in all of this book. Loved getting to see all my favorite characters again as well. Beautifully written and I can’t wait for Jagger’s story next!
Let me start by saying this is a 220 page NOVELLA, yes you read that right. Kristen Ashley is a goddess with a pen and paper so her stories are usually very long so this little taste into her world will really give you something to sink your teeth into. WHICH I LOVED!
It’s no surprise that I am a HUGE KA fan and have been for a while now so when I heard that she was writing stories for the Black brothers as part of the 1,001 Dark Nights Collection I couldn’t be happier. This is Dutch Black’s story and let me tell you, you are in for a real treat with this one.
The Chaos Motorcycle Club has been in Dutch Black’s blood from a very young age, his father was part of the MC right up to his death and then Hound helped his mother raise him and his brother, Jagger. Let me just say that both of his dads made him into one fine man!
Gorgiana is so cool and funny. I absolutely loved her once she started ranting about the over head bins on airplanes. Seriously she’s something else. Georgie and Dutch don’t have the great first meeting but the attraction is evident and neither can deny it. I loved everything about this book and it’s one of my top 10 for the year!
If you haven’t experienced Kristen Ashley’s books this is a perfect time to dive in, and if you have read this series you seriously do not want to miss Dutch and Georgie’s story.
Happy Reading!!!
I adore Kristen Ashley. I love that she can write some instant with all of the feels. The story of Dutch black has a history deep into the Chaos books. As this book opens, he’s a little lost. In other books you know that Dutch lost his dad, and he’s felt that. So has his brother Jagger. When this story begins Jagger asks Dutch to pick up his girlfriend’s sister from the airport. She is kind of snooty at first, but once we get over that, they hit it off right away and kept hitting it off. I wish there was a little more conflict, but it was pretty much smooth sailing for the pair. This felt like a really long epilogue for me, of just niceness.
It’s a novella, so it’s quick. It’s also super sweet and endearing.
“I was lost, and I’ve not known you a week, and I might not have it together, but I’m on the road to bein’ found and that loosens somethin’ in me that’s been so tight for so long, jackin’ me up so bad, I thought it was going to kill an important part of me.”
OHMIGOSH! I forgot how much I love a Kristen Ashley book. I’ll admit that I haven’t read all of her Chaos series, so Dutch was a completely new character for me, but I loved him & Georgie together! They both have an attitude so watching them interact was so entertaining. It had the classic KA swoon moments (which let’s be honest is the best part of a romance), and I absolutely squealed when she brought in the Nightingale boys! It was like two of my favorite series combined into one book!
It can definitely be read as a standalone, but I also immediately went and bought Hound & Keely’s book right after I finished!
3.75 stars. This was a pretty good book. Wild Fire is a novella set in Kristen Ashley’s Chaos series world. This book is Dutch’s story. He is the son of the late Chaos brother, Black, and Keely from Wild like the Wind. Dutch is at loose ends in his life. He doesn’t feel like he has a purpose in Chaos or really fits in with the group. He also is trying to help Carlyle, a young man who has recently lost his father in a senseless murder. Georgie is journalist whose sister is dating Dutch’s brother, Jaggar. She arrives in from out of town and Jaggar convinces Dutch to go pick her up at the airport as a favor to her sister. Georgie is not a fan of bikers and treats Dutch rudely at first, but they do have an attraction. Soon they find, they have misjudged each other and that they really do like each other. Dutch and Georgie help discover who murdered Carlyle’s father and help him get closure to move on with his life in a positive way. As the couple works together and spends more time together, they fall in love.
I was pleased to find this book was not another copycat of this author’s previous books and characters. Nor was it crass like some of her other recent books. Wild Fire had different sort of characters and story. Dutch was a little less of a bossy alpha, while Georgie was a smart, headstrong, feminist heroine with a temper. I liked them both and enjoyed that they felt like fresh characters. Also, there is no instalove between them, as they butt heads when they first met and took a minute to warm up to each other. I liked that the story had a bit of a mystery going on. I also really liked the Chaos history and Dutch’s dealing with his father’s death and legacy, as well as his own purpose in life.
Overall, this was a good book. I have no real complaints, except that the couple was not among my very favorite of KA’s couples. Still, I did like them and enjoyed the book. I look forward to Dutch’s brother, Jaggar’s book, as the preview for his story sounds really good.
So, full disclosure. I love Kristen Ashley’s Chaos series (all except the last book, and we won’t go there) and so I was thrilled to see there would be a story for the Black boys. Wild Fire is Dutch Black’s story.
Dutch and his brother Jagger know what the Chaos brotherhood is all about having grown under their protection and with Hound as a surrogate father after their father is murdered. They are both patched into Chaos now.
When Jagger asks his brother to pick up his woman’s sister at the airport, Dutch does so reluctantly. He’s got some problems he’s working out on his own, one of those helping a young man who just lost his father in a manner similar to how Dutch lost his, and the other is his search for his place in the world. He just hasn’t found his calling yet.
Georgiana is an investigative reporter with a smart mouth and she’s not afraid to use it. She’s not thrilled with being picked up by a biker and they have a bit of verbal sparring on the way back from the airport. Yeah, you know how that goes in romance — it isn’t long before she’s watching the Chaos documentary and helping him with Carlyle, the young man who witnessed his father’s murder.
There’s quite a few characters from the Rock Chick series in this longish novella, and there’s a good dose of drama with Georgie’s sister (yep, the one seeing Jagger). With help from Chaos and Lee Nightengale’s crew, Carlyle’s situation is resolved, leaving the new Chaos energized for more. I loved seeing all the old MC in this book, even if it was just a few lines.
But the best part of this novella is Georgie and Dutch. They are just so good together. Dutch is just so sweet in that MC way, working hard to take his time getting Georgie in bed cause he knows she’s the one for him. It’s really the best part of this story and there’s some really great moments between Dutch, Georgie and his family that I’m going to probably read over and over again.
So, a surprising return to Chaos for me. I thought I was done with this series and this author after Rush’s book. I really enjoyed this and I’m looking forward to Jagger’s story. 1001 Dark Nights delivers again with a terrific story. This works as a standalone, but you might want to read the rest of the Chaos story to get the full effect.
4.4 stars
If this author writes it, I will buy it and then proceed to read it, often, several times over. Nobody can do what KA does. Some come close but there is a reason that she is known by her initials. I have been waiting on bated breath for Dutch to get his story. It was worth the wait.
The thing I like about 1001 Dark Nights books, is that it gives the world a chance to test a series out to see if someone likes it. It is standalone with characters from that series but a person isn’t lost if it is their first time reading it. I could totally see that with this book.
However, for myself, I wanted more time spent on the details and relationship itself, in this case, and having read every book in this series more than once, I wanted more depth. It still seemed like Georgiana and Dutch still had so much left to their story. I felt like various Rock Chick or Chaos characters took up some of the time that could have been spent on putting all the attention on these characters. Even though this was 220 pages, it was still short for this author. I found that I missed those extra pages, and that isn’t just me being selfish and wanting ALL THE WORDS from this amazing author.
All that being said, this was still a great book. Dutch is an amazing man. He is the perfect blend of Black and Hound. He truly is good in all aspects of his life. I loved that he had a purpose in this book, sadly because of commonality and that he could give insight. Georgie was different for me than the usual characters. I had a harder time relating to her. I think if given more time in a full big KA novel that would have been different. I missed the over-the-top moments where the Alpha goes all growly.
I did like how the author intends to open her next series up and still tie in Chaos. All in all, still a great addition to this amazing series.
This novella gives us the story of Dutch, whom we met in Hound’s story (Dutch is his stepson), and like his father he’s part of Chaos. In the middle of a mission to help a murdered man’s child (which harkens to his own painful memories), he crossed paths with Georgie- a delightfully sassy, loud mouthed, fiery reporter. At first they butt heads, but Georgie, never ignoring a call for justice, decides to help Dutch in his mission- with the two of them forming an unlikely and unexpected partnership in Dutch’s personal mission.
These two are fire together. Dutch is a dreamy alpha biker- protective, domineering, and charismatic while also being so kind and good, a man who lives with integrity. And Georgie is that tough as nails future-old-lady I adore in MC stories- she’s feisty and strong and not to be trifled with- but also so big hearted and loves very hard.
It has been a minute since I’ve been in the Chaos world- and this really did work well as a standalone, I had no issues getting caught up (although it certainly made me want to drive back into the series, an all time favorite MC series- Kristen does it so well). It was nice to touch base with some of Kristen’s other characters.
I knew going into this that it is a novella- so we have instalove type romance and I also was left wanting more- I just wanted to spend more time with these characters, see the trajectory of their romance a bit more thoroughly- even though this was the longest 1001 DN book I’ve read yet. Novellas, especially in an established world, really are so hard- creating characters interesting enough for the reader to care and giving enough story to feel complete without sparking discontent that we don’t have a full novel. Brava to Kristen for telling a great story that I enjoyed- and my desire for more is really not about the superior writing of this novella and more just about the interesting characters she’s left me thirty to spend more time with.
Kristen will always be one of the queens of MC- an OG author that paved the way for so many other MC storytellers. I’m always happy to be reminded of how much I loved this series and KA in general- so this was quite the treat!
Wild Fire was a Kristen Ashley masterpiece. This story has everything that makes Kristen Ashley’s creations so special. That unique feel of intense emotions filling my heart to the fullest and then some more. That unforgettable and inimitable alpha hero goodness. That beauty of sassy, fierce and big hearted heroine. A story that will make me come back again and again.
Wild Fire is a Chaos novella but I would say it was a pretty long read in comparison to other 1001 Dark Nights titles! And I was over the moon. Because I cannot get enough of Kristen Ashley. This is the story of Dutch Black, stepson of Hound. Dutch is a part of Chaos just like his dead father was. But he has this sense of suffocation, restlessness and loneliness . Then by fate’s intervention,he meets Georgiana Taylor. A mouthy, fierce, loud, colourful and through and through good woman. She is a reporter and she never let a chance to find justice for anyone.
Oh my heart! Why cannot every hero be like Dutch? I know that’s impossible and would be incredibly boring if every story had the same hero. But seriously how amazing is this man? Alpha man in every single way. Obnoxiously protective and sweetly possessive about his woman. Living by honour and kindness. Ready to help someone in need even if the situation hit too close to home. Fearless, witty, smooth talking and obviously, DROP DEAD SEXY! Only Georgiana can handle him. She is a classic combination of soft and hard. Hard when it comes to wrong and injustice. Soft when it comes to taking care of her man. Every ship needs an anchor in storm. And Georgiana is it for Dutch! And don’t be surprised that I shed tears to be reunited with the Nightingale crew and the Chaos crew. And their ladies. My favorite badass alphas with their kickass ladies! My love for them will never ever die.
MC Romance doesn’t get any better than Kristen Ashley writing about Chaos MC. This is such a powerful story with passion, inspiration and that epic kind of love melting my heart instantly. You have to experience the magic yourself and feel the burn of Wild Fire.
I reviewed an early copy voluntarily.
WILD FIRE is the 6.5 addition in Kristen Ashley’s contemporary, adult CHAOS erotic, MC romance series and the latest 1000 Dark Nights multi-authored series. This is Chaos member Dutch Black, and journalist Georgiana ‘Georgie’ Traylor’s story line. WILD FIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary. Some of the characters from the author’s Rock Chick series cross over. Dutch and Jag are the sons of Keely Black (Wild Like the Wind #5).
Told from dual third person perspectives (Dutch and Georgie) WILD FIRE follows the building relationship between Chaos member Dutch Black, and journalist Georgiana ‘Georgie’ Traylor. Dutch Black was doing his brother a favor when he was asked to pick up Jag’s girlfriend’s sister Georgiana from the Denver International Airport but Georgie took an immediate dislike to our story line hero for who he was and what he represents. Words said in haste and anger between our couple were followed by apologies when they quickly discovered a common thread when it comes to helping children in trouble. Georgie, as in investigative journalist, was struggling with the never ending heart breaking stories of the student loan crisis, and was having a crisis of ‘faith’ so to speak as it pertained to her direction in reporting. Meanwhile Dutch was battling with himself in regards to Carlyle, a young seventeen year-old boy at the local youth shelter, who witnessed his father’s murder, as said young man was slowly turning from family and friends. After a night of surprises including finding Georgie placing herself in danger, our couple decided to work together, with the help of the MC, in an effort to find the people responsible for killing a man who was only trying to protect his family. What ensue is the quick building romance and relationship between Georgie and Dutch, as the begin an investigation of their own into the death of a husband and father.
The relationship between Georgie and Dutch begins acrimoniously as Georgie is quick to judge Dutch for his MC lifestyle. With Georgie’s sister Carolyn currently in a relationship with Dutch’s brother Jag, secrets are quickly revealed that will pull the brothers together but push the sisters further apart. As Georgie and Dutch’s relationship turns personal and sexual, Dutch’s mother Keely sees something in her son she hasn’t seen for a very long time. The $ex scene are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar characters including Dutch’s brother Jag, and their mother Keely and her husband Hound; most of the Chaos MC members including Tack and Rush; Georgie’s sister Carolyn; and Georgie’s cat Murtagh. The back and forth between the MC members and the Black family is often frenetic and fun.
WILD FIRE is a story of family, friendships, heart break and love; of secrets and lies; betrayal and loss. The fast paced and character driven premise is edgy and encouraging ; the characters are sassy and spirited; the romance is provocative and captivating.
Dutch and Jagger were likeable characters. I really enjoyed the interaction between both characters and the secondary characters were great. The story unfold with multiple heart moments. I enjoyed reading the book.

Usually, I am not a big fan of short stories… but I do make some exceptions, and the 1001 Dark Nights include some of those. The fact that we are talking about a KA read, quickly sealed the deal for me.
From the beginning, I felt pulled into the story. Dutch and Jagger were awesome kids and side-characters in Keely and Hound’s story and so I really wanted to know more about them. Turns out Dutch is still pretty freaking awesome and he grew up to be a man both his daddies should be proud of.
The heroine, Georgiana (weird name to be honest) was also all kinds of awesome and kickass, which made for a pretty classic KA read, though a bit heavy on the insta-love. That said, this is a short story, so I was kind of expecting that and I wasn’t bothered by it.
The background story was also very intriguing and kept me interested. It also gave me the change to check up on some of my all times favorite characters.
All in all, a very entertaining read for me, and I can’t wait to read Jagger’s story. Too bad it is still a long wait away…
Oh what a wonderfully welcome return to Chaos MC and the next generation of bikers and their babes.
Black is a name of legend in Chaos MC so meeting Dutch, the eldest of the two Black sons, is what dreams are made of.
As you might expect, it takes a very special woman to capture and corral the heart of a Chaos brother. Georgianna fits the bill to a ‘t’.
Wild Fire, Dutch and Georgianna shows K.A. at her best. You will alternately laugh, cry, cheer and want to pull your hair out… In the best possible way!
Be rest assured though. You will also fall madly in love with the new generation of Chaos brethren, the women who come into their lives and their stories as they make their way to HEA.
Oh wow. It was so good to get back into the Chaos world. And I loved every minute of it.
Dutch Black was the son of Keely and Graham Black. His dad was killed when he was just a young boy. It took his mother years to move and she finally moved on and got together with Hound ( I loved Keely and Hounds story) Now Dutch and his brother Jagger are members of Chaos MC following in their father’s footsteps.
Dutch met Georgiana when he was doing a favor for his brother, Jagger. But their meeting did not go well. But eventually Georgie realized that maybe she was a bit harsh with Dutch. Dutch was in the middle of helping a boy find out who murdered his father. Or trying to. So he was not happy when Georgie showed up at a place that he had under surveillance. From there it just escalated between them.
From the minute these two met you felt the chemistry. Both of these two characters were stubborn, but damn it was a Chaos brother so you knew this was going to be good. I loved that when one of them was wrong they had no problem admitting it and working it out ASAP. I loved that we got some Vance, Hank and Eddie as well as Keely and the rest of the Chaos brothers who are now under Rush’s lead. This is why I fell in love with KA’s stories. It had alpha male, action drama, lol moments and so much more. I am totally excited for the Jagger’s story. I can’t wait
The Chaos series is one of my all time favourite MC series, between the writing the stories and the characters I just fell in love with them all. Fans of the series will know the love story of Dutch Black’s parents and I couldn’t wait to see more of the man he had become.
Over the years Chaos has changed and evolved so club drama is no longer an issue but that leaves the brothers with time on their hands. For Dutch that has led to him becoming a mentor to disaffected youths and it fit him so well but he’s also questioning what he wants for the future romantically.
Georgie and Dutch’s first meeting didn’t exactly set romance blossoming it did make me laugh though. I loved all their snarky back and forth banter. I was just waiting for the moment when they saw each other without all those preconceptions. It goes without saying that Dutch made me swoon he was just everything I expected him to be. At first glance Georgie is not what you would imagine to be his perfect match but just wait because when she gives in to the attraction she goes all in for Dutch.
My only complaint is this novella is no where near long enough I know we will probably see them in future novellas but I wanted more.
I love the Chaos MC and was so excited to read Dutch Black’s story! Kristen Ashley writes like no other and reading a book based in Denver by her is like visiting old friends.
Dutch is the son who was born into Chaos by his Mom and late father. Now a full member he finds himself looking for something more and reaches out to a boy who needs support in every way. After doing a favor for his brother he meets Georgiana and then runs into her again in the worst possible moment. What starts with heated conversations quickly turns into a different kind of heat. With looks that speak volumes they start the longest date in history and never let go.
I love the way KA writes and her stories are always a must read for me. The conflicts and emotions and how stand up all her leading men are I can’t get enough! Can’t wait for Jagger’s book!
