Every time I read a Wilder Irish story, I get a little misty because I know we are getting closer to the end of this series! Darcy was hit by the Collins curse when she was just twenty yrs old, however Ryder had just lost his wife and was raising two young boys. Over the yrs she has become very close to Clint & Vince, babysitting for them whenever needed, and quickly falling for them too. Stuck in an elevator on Halloween night, Darcy & Ryder allow their passion to come through, that is until he realizes she is a virgin. Pushing her away, not allowing this to go any further is the plan. However, once Ryder has a taste of Darcy there is no going back, he can’t seem to stay away no matter how hard he tries. Can she convince him that they are a solid match, or will he push her away for the last time? Will her family involve themselves like they always do? This was a very well written story, with strong recurring characters like Pop Pop, Padraig, Vonnie, Leo and the rest of the crazy Collins Clan. It was sexy, steamy. swoony, dominant and exciting, check it out today!
Wild Embrace by Mari Carr
I loved Darcy and Ryder’s story. Ryder has guilt over his wife’s death and has closed down his heart. Darcy as a young girl would babysit his son and fell in love with Ryder. Darcy is no longer a young girl and still has feelings for Ryder. After getting stuck in an elevator on Halloween, the sparks begin to fly. Ryder must come to the realization of his feelings for Darcy but is still hesitant. Darcy knows what she wants and goes after it, namely Ryder. So another couple falls to the Collins’ curse. While Ryder and Darcy are some of my new favorite characters, my absolute favorite is Pop Pop. I love the way Mari Carr starts off each story with the main character talking to Pop Pop about whatever is bothering them and the advice he gives them. It always brings tears to my eyes. I can’t wait for the next story in this series.
Love it! I’ve volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. This is my first time reading a book from Mari Carr. Wild Embrace is the eleventh book in the Wilder Irish series. This is Darcy and Ryder’s story. Ryder is a wounded soul, having withdrawn from being very social after his wife’s death. Darcy is one of my favorite female characters. She knows who she is, what she wants, and what she is worth. I love the chemistry and connection between these two. Darcy may be ten years younger than Ryder. But age is just that an age. Can these two put their differences aside and come to a mutual understanding about love and trust? I think they are so PERFECT together. Wild Embrace is a lovely page-turner in the very best way. I loved every minute of this quick, steamy, heartfelt read! I’m definitely going back and reading the first ten books in this series. This can be read as a standalone too. Keep up the awesome work!
Falling for your boss? Having sex in an elevator? Lusting for the younger nanny? Yep, all tried and true tropes and cliches in the romance genre but can anyone make them feel new and likable? Many have tried and failed but the adroit Mari Carr has done this in Wild Embrace.
Darcy has been hit with the Collins’ family curse very young, She fell for Ryder Hagen rather early when she was working for him as his nanny while in college. She went on to graduate and landed a job working for Ryder. She has been trying to keep her feelings and urges under control.
Ryder Hagen lost his wife and has been living the life of a monk and working way too many hours since. He has been suppressing his natural urges to be a Dom as well during these past few years. And seriously burying his chemical reaction to the lovely but very young Darcy who is always around since she is the nanny helping to raise his son. He thinks he doesn’t deserve to be happy ever again.
But cue up a Baltimore Halloween, a power outage, and two people attracted to each other stuck in an elevator and ….
Darcy does have one big secret she doesn’t want to reveal to Ryder but he guesses it out fairly fast. And this adds another layer of complication to their revolving story of mutual needs and wants or rather it does for Ryder. And this is just in the first few chapters of this steamy escape with a HEA.
I love the Wilder/Collins clan stories not just because they are set in Baltimore but because the stories are well written, the characters are well developed and memorable, and well, there is Pops. You want to be a part of this wonderful, slightly crazy family-centric clan. And maybe if you can’t be a part of the clan, you can find a family owned pub nearby and visit for a spell and weave some stories involving the members of this fictional clan in your head while you eat fabulous home cooked Irish food. Or find a quiet corner of the house to escape from any chaos happening in your life and find a quiet sexy escape read.
I did receive a copy of this novel in advance from the author in exchange for a fair and unbiased review. Thanks to real life making things complicated, I did not get this review up on time but Mari is very understanding about things like this. (Nor did I bribe her to ignore a late review with a few bottles of local wine although it was tempting to do so.)
Heart string tugging (in the best way), action packed and heartwarming second chance filled with engaging and hard to resist charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and emotional turns. Was a highly entertaining and great read.
A well written book with an interesting story line. The characters are strong and the story flows quickly and smoothly. I enjoyed reading this story.
An age gap romance that is filled with passion, friendship and above all family. This is also a friends to lovers romance that shows us that sometimes we miss what is right in front of us. For Darcy and Ryder years of friendship turns steamy when they get trapped in an elevator.
Steamy, fun and inspiring this romance that will have you binge reading it fully through in one sitting. String and stubborn Ryder meets his match in sweet and equally as stubborn Darcy. One Wild Embrace gave them a connection that is unbreakable.
Wild Embrace is the 11th book in Mari Carr’s Wilder Irish Series. This book like this series is so full of wonderful characters, steamy love scenes and family love and laughs. Darcy is one of the strong Collin’s women, who goes after what she wants. Ryder a widower, who has given up on love. When life brings them together the journey from employee and employer is a wild emotional ride that is so worth it. If this book is not already on your TBR list needs to be put there, now.
This book is part of the Wilder Irish series but it can easily be read as a stand alone. However, I do recommend both the Wild Irish series and the Wilder Irish series featuring the children of the Wild Irish series. As in the earlier books in the series, this one starts out with a young Darcy getting a lesson in love from Pop Pop. Growing up with his stories, Darcy is convinced true love does exist and she’s not willing to settle for anything less. Ryder, on the other hand, has sworn off relationships after his wife’s death. Little does he know once the Collins’ Curse hits, he doesn’t stand a chance!
Overall, an enjoyable yet steamy romance.
I was totally drawn to this book because Ryder is a single dad. It’s so hard to pass up on one of those. I loved Darcy so much. I loved her relationship with her grandpa. Made me think of my grandpa a bit and how close I am to him. I also loved Darcy’s family. It makes me wish I could be part of the crazy fun. It made me so happy to see Darcy pull Ryder and Clint into the fold. Darcy is so good for Ryder. That man needs a little push and truly enjoy his life. Ryder made a huge romantic gesture that made me swoon. Yeah Darcy should hold onto her ideal of love because it looks like it’s in her future. Boy is Ryder a dirty talker and he brings the steam into the bedroom. Darcy reaps those benefits. This book has a ton of heart and plenty of humor. A must read!
And, again, I get to extol the virtues of reading a book by Mari Carr about the Collins Clan. What I am afraid of is that she’s running out of characters in the Collins family and will be ending this wonderful, exciting, beautiful series soon.
Darcy and Ryder were wonderful. The Collins Curse struck again. Unfortunately, Ryder knew nothing about the curse but swore she put some kind of a spell on him. Little did he know.
I’m not going to get into the full plot of this story. It’s too good to give anything away here. Let’s say that Ryder was living in the past … ignoring his baser needs … thinking he just wasn’t enough for any woman. Darcy felt the butterflies, felt the pull but had to give him some room to figure things out for himself. She did what she had to do, when she had to do it and followed exactly what her Pop Pop told her to do when that “feeling” hit her. She knew … now she needed to get Ryder to know it too.
I absolutely love, love, love these stories. They are fun, interesting … no plot ever repeats itself. The characters are well written and fascinating. The story flows from page to page. I won’t lie … I read this in one sitting … 4 hours. I couldn’t stop. I needed to see where it was going and how they were going to get there. And I was not disappointed in the least. Ryder had just the right amount of dominance and Darcy just the right amount of submission. It may have taken a punch in the face, but Ryder finally came to his senses and saw the gift that was right in front of his eyes.
Characters that are feisty … a plot line that will have you smiling. Another winner from Mari Carr. (I won’t mention my love of Pop Pop again, I swear. Ya’ll know how I feel about him.)

This was my first ARC from author. I read the blurb and signed up.
This is a single-parent, boss-employee and age-gap romance. Like I said earlier, this was my first read from the author. I did not know what to expect. This can be read as a standalone but as I was reading and encounter all these personalities in the book, I thought I should’ve read the earlier books.
I enjoyed the book. It’s angsty, funny, swoony and family-centric.
Three words, my friends: single dad romance. How can you not swoon at this hero?! Sexy, sigh-worthy, and the best sort of romantic escape. I loved every word!
The Wilder series is perhaps one of my favorite rom com series just for the outrageousness of this family! Pop Pop is one of the best grandpas in Romancelandia. He’s crafty, conniving and out ot make sure that his family matches up and procreates and continues the family line.
Darcy, our female lead, is a strong woman who knows what she wants, and knows what she’s worth. That second part – self worth – is often lacking in romances, and it is definitely not the situation here. She knows what true love looks like, and she’s willing to wait until she gets it, even if it means waiting for the guy that doesn’t want to fall in love to change his tune.
Ryder needs to recover from and reclaim his life after tragedy. He is focused on his son, work, and avoiding future heartbreak at all costs. He’s done with love. But Darcy is more than he bargained for.
This book has a great balance of fun and emotion. Darcy and Ryder have not only amazing chemistry and attraction, but a deeply emotional connection as well. Well written, enjoyable, and another great addition to the Wilder Irish series.
I swear I will never get tired of this series. Darcy is hilarious and her depth and loyalty just take you under. Another great work from Mari Carr.

Mari Carr has hit another one out of the park! Ryder and Darcy were amazing together, although Ryder is a bit hard headed and it took a while, Darcy managed to wear him down. I love the entire Collins clan and love seeing them each find their HEA.

I have completely loved everyone of the “Wilder Irish” stories. They are stand alone stories with connected characters and family. Pop Pop really adds so much to these stories with his wisdom and insight. However, the sense of family being there with you every step of the way, encouraging you and pushing you, is absolutely wonderful. This one is Darcy and Ryder’s story. Darcy has been babysitting for Ryder ever since he lost his wife in a car accident. Now she works for him, but not directly. She has been in love with him ever since he stumbled home one faithful night. Ryder has never seen Darcy as anything but the young girl he first met in overalls that loved his kid; never romantically. However, a blackout, being locked in an elevator, a little vodka and questions that push boundaries makes him start seeing her as more than sweet little Darcy and make him feel things he has not felt in years. Darcy never gives up but it takes him becoming jealous for him to truly open his eyes to what is right in front of him. This is a fast paced story I could not put down. I enjoyed all the ups and downs in this story. The characters are wonderful. The story has passion, angst, love, passion, humor and so much more.
WOW, WOW, WOW!! This Series Just Gets Better And Better!!
Darcy is a Romantic to her heart thanks to PopPop (her Grandfather). She wants a relationship just like his and Grandma Sunday and won’t settle for anything else. She wants her “Prince Charming.”
Then Darcy, while she was in college, met Ryder Hagen when cousin Yvonne was helping him and Leo with their unintentional family. Darcy loved helping them because she loves Leo’s and Ryder’s son and the boys love her. Then one day Darcy had all the signs PopPop talked about in “The One”. “Uh ooh,” she realized she’d found her “Prince Charming” and it was none other than Ryder. But her road to getting him was not going to be easy because Ryder had closed himself off to all but his son after the death of his wife and he’s never seen Darcy as anything other than a family friend/babysitter.
So three years later Darcy started working for Ryder’s company after she graduated from college. Darcy was definitely off limits. Then heading home after work on Halloween night, Ryder and Darcy are stuck in the elevator. They find out that there’s a black-out and they are not going anywhere for a while. So take a black-out, stuck in an elevator, claustrophobia, some Vodka, and a little game of Truth or Dare. “Whelp” Ryder’s looking at Darcy and he finally “Sees” her…Oh My!!! Things are about to get “Interesting” to say the least… “Yummers!”

Darcy and Ryder are a great set of characters. It started off a bit slow giving the back story, but once we got to the present it went smoothly and quickly and was great. Mari does a great job engaging the reader and making them feel invested in the story and characters.

Darcy is a romantic at heart. She will settle for nothing less than true love. She knows Ryder is the man she wants, the signs are all there. Ryder is a widower with a son. Darcy babysits for Ryders son and works as a graphic designer in his office. Ryder has no interest in a relationship or getting married. A power outage and hours stuck in an elevator offers them the opportunity to really get to know one another. Yet Ryder is still reluctant. Luckily for Ryder Darcy does not give up!
