Brindle and Trace have been an on again off again couple since their early teenage years now in their mid twenties they are hit with a bit of unexpected news. Well, I guess I should back up a bit and let you know that Brindle decided to go to Paris for six weeks at the end of Trails of Love to clear her head and see where her heart was. She returns with more than just the answer that had always been in her heart.
It’s no surprise that I am a huge Melissa Foster fan when you read a book like this, which takes a difficult subject and somehow gives you the HEA you were hoping for. Unplanned pregnancy is not unheard of, even with all the precautions a couple can take. I have to say that I was disappointed with Trace’s behavior when he saw Brindle for the first time after returning from Paris with a baby bump, if I was there he would have gotten a backhand up the side of his head. Anyway, he did finally get his head screwed on correctly. Fatherhood has a way of making the immature grow-up.
I enjoyed the whole town rallying around Trace and Brindle with their Instagram shutouts of #teamtrindle, #teamtrindletrio, #teamtrindlecolt, and #teamtrindlefilly it was great to see how everyone pulled for this couple to make it.
I was gifted an ARC of this book but I purchased the Audiobook version and listened to it instead of reading This story pulled me in right away and I didn’t want it to end, the narrators did a wonderful job bringing this story to life. I can’t say it enough, if you have yet to read one of her books grab one now you’ll be sorry you waited this long to be immersed into her world. Each book can be read as a standalone so it doesn’t matter where you begin, just begin!
Happy Reading!!!
It was the lessons that were learned for both Trindle and Jericho. There’s something about the way that Melissa Foster weaves a story that draws you in and have you staying to the very end no matter how you are feeling.
Trindle and Jericho’s story was not different. If you are a follower of the series then you know this was not our first run in with the two. But new or old you will pick up the threads of the on again off again relationship between them. Its almost a friends-to-lovers, second chance romance. These two had a lot to learn and a lot to understand about themselves and each other.
No reveals here just know that you need some patience, maybe a swear jar, maybe some tissue, and heart. Love will see you through.
4 stars
While I’ve read many Melissa Foster books, I’d never read anything from the Braden/Montgomery series (somehow) so I came into this fourth book blind to the families and relationships. While a reader’s enjoyment would be enhanced by knowing the backstories of the many couples, I was able to pick up without any issues.
If I’m 100% honest, after the first few chapters I had serious reservations about how much I’d enjoy the story because I cannot stand immature characters who hurt each other because they refuse to communicate. Both main characters seemed immature and self-centered and I was instantly put out with them. Thankfully, within a few chapters they recognized the (decade old) issue and agreed to work together to fix it. Between the laughter and tears, they put in the work to secure their future together.
Of course, there was wonderful banter, palpable chemistry and plenty of sexy times but there was also genuine growth with this couple and I appreciated that. Great read!

If you’ve followed my reviews for any amount of time you’ll realize I read a TON of Melissa Foster books. I find myself drawn to realistic characters and believable storylines, both of which are seen in Foster’s latest book Wild, Crazy Hearts.
Full honesty here – I did not like the heroine for the first half of this book. Mainly because I didn’t like Brindle’s attitude and what she was doing. I totally get she had her reasons but she didn’t resonate with me at all. Trace, on the other hand, had 100% of my support. From start to finish he had the biggest heart, even if he and Brindle should have talked more to work on their issues.
I found myself drawn into this story by the middle and really wanted this couple to get their happily ever after. There is one conversation in particular that stayed with me while I was reading. Even when their relationship was strained or they were on a break there was always a tether holding them together. By the end of the book, Brindle redeemed herself in my eyes and I was happily cheering them on.
If you like manly, sexy cowboys and a struggle for happily ever after then Wild, Crazy Hearts is just what you’re looking for.
You’ll be #teamtrindle too!
Sweet, strong, fiery, stubborn, independent Brindle comes home after a summer in Paris trying to figure out some things for her future. She finally comes home to talk to the man she loves. She has loved Trace since she was a girl. They’ve been on and off since the first time they kissed. Trace is just as stubborn and passionate as she is. They are great at wordless communication but they now need to figure out how to be in a loving adult relationship. Especially since they aren’t the only ones they have to think about. Visits to the Melissaverse are always filled with more family, love, wit, and passion. Loved #teamTrindle! I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I’ve become quite the Melissa Foster addict. Her style and voice is easy and always entertaining. For the most part, all the books I’ve read by her are romantic and full of heart.
Brindle and Trace already have history. Quite a bit of it actually. What kind of history you ask? Read an find out LOL They’ve been friends in and out of the bedroom for what seems to be their entire lives, but they really suck at communication and honestly, for two people that have known each other as long as they have, they have little to zero trust in one another. At least that’s what they show to each other. I’m not gonna lie and tell you I didn’t want to reach into my kindle and slap someone on more than one occasion, because I most certainly did lol However, I don’t know how to explain it, but it all made sense for them. So even tho there was all this cringe worthy immature stuff happening/being said … it made perfect sense. It’s who they were! That is honestly the only thing in the story that might put you off because other than that, it was an excellent story of two people trying to get it right 🙂
Brindle Montgomery is a truly free spirit. Trace Jericho is up one second and down the next. One of his friends gives him a dressing-down. I gave them an imaginary high five. But he’ll come to grow on you. These are two characters with strong personalities even though their thought processes may be a little skewed.
This has to be the author’s most complicated couple that I’ve read to date. They constantly had me shaking my head. But they also had me going back for more. Then Trace does something so romantic that putting the book down became next to impossible. If you’ve never read the Bradens or the Montgomerys than this would be a great introduction. You don’t need to have read any of the other books in the series but it might be an incentive to go back and find the stories that introduce some of the secondary characters. And there seem to be plenty books going forward as well.
Sometimes I might say that this book or that book would be a good one to set the mood for. All you need with this one is a comfortable chair. All the outside forces will fall away as you watch this story unfold. Some characters make me do the famous eye roll and in this case that happens here but it’s more like one you would do for family. And that’s one good thing that our author does is create characters that feel like family. Every story may stand on its own and but you’re always left wanting more.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
WILD, CRAZY HEARTS by Melissa Foster is book four in The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill – Oak Falls Series. This is the story of Brindle and Trace. In the last book ‘Trails of Love’ we learned that Brindle is back from Paris and that she is expecting a baby. Brindle had a ideal that she was pregnant when she left to evaluate her feelings. Brindle and Trace have been a friends with benefits since they were younger both feeling more but neither going forward to make it clear how they felt. So when Brindle returns harsh words are spoken that pulls them apart until the air is cleaned up.
This was another great book by Ms. Foster.
Wild, Crazy Hearts by Melissa Foster
The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill – Oak Falls #4
Trace Jericho and Brindle Montgomery have been together off and on for years but when it comes down to what they really mean to one another will they finally be mature enough to communicate and move forward into the adult long-term relationship they have been moving toward for over a decade or will they let anger, pride and jealousy take over or will they do what it takes to work things out? Both Trace and Brindle have big loving families and a community behind them as they determine how to move forward when Brindle returns from Paris. It takes them a bit of time to figure things out but when they do…their relationship only grows hotter and gets even stronger.
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I like to read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
WILD CRAZY HEARTS is the fourth instalment in Melissa Foster’s contemporary, adult BRADENS AND MONTGOMERYS: Pleasant Hill-Oak Falls erotic, romance series- a part of the author’s LOVE IN BLOOM series. This is twenty-five year old, high school teacher Brindle Montgomery, and rancher Trace Jericho’s story line WILD CRAZY HEARTS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Brindle and Trace) WILD CRAZY HEARTS focuses on the struggling relationship between childhood sweethearts, twenty-five year old, high school teacher Brindle Montgomery, and rancher Trace Jericho. Brindle and Trace have been best friends, soulmates and lovers most of their adult lives but Brindle struggled with their on again, off again love affair so in an attempt to discover what it is she wants from life, Brindle heads to Paris alone, only to return pregnant and scared. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship and love between Brindle and Trace, as they navigate the ups and downs of pregnancy and more.
WILD CRAZY HEARTS is a story of family, friendship, secrets and lies. Brindle struggles with her burgeoning news, news that has everyone jumping to conclusions, condemnation, or hoping for more information. Trace has never stopped loving Brindle Montgomery, and her surprising revelations throw our hero off kilter, as well as tipping his well-ordered life into overdrive, as he looks towards the future with the woman he loves. Regardless of Brindle’s announcement and surprise Trace is the man willing to step up and offer our heroine a happily ever after.
The relationship between Trace and Brindle is a back and forth, up and down, exhaustive affair between two people who have loved one another for most of their lives. With no commitment towards the future, Brindle takes off to Paris in an attempt to reconsider her options including the love for our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including the Montgomery and Jericho siblings, cousins, family and friends. The fast paced premise is entertaining and welcoming; the romance is fated, spicy and passionate; the characters are familiar, real, flirty and sassy. Melissa Foster invites the reader into her decadent and sexy world of the Bradens and Montgomerys.

When Brindle popped up at the end of the the previous book, I knew that her and Trace’s story was going to be an interesting one.
And Ms Foster has not disappointed with Wild, Crazy Hearts.
Now, I have terrible bookzheimers, and with all of Ms Foster’s cross over series, I have a terrible time remembering who belongs with whom, however once I start the story it doesn’t bother me, as I am in there with the new couple.
Oy, Brindle and Trace – do they do my head in or what! One of the big things that I hate in my stories is the lack of communication that causes stupid fights and sh!t. And oh my do this pair do a lot of that in the first half of the book – however they do get better as the story progresses.
Trace is the kind of guy we all need in our lives – the kind of man who takes us as we are adores our foibles and protects us with all he has. I want one, where is mine???
I loved the family, the connections, the love and banter between them all, and it makes me wish I was there with them all.
Each and every Melissa Foster book is a delight to read, and I can’t wait to see what she brings us next.
I have been waiting to read Brindle and Traces story since morgyns book…
And it’s safe to say it did not disappoint… I loved every minute of their wild love story.
Sometimes true love really does exist…
They both pulled out all the stops to romance each other..
This is the fourth book in The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill – Oak Falls Series. Brindle and Trace’s story is beautifully written, fun, sexy, sweet, and heartwarming. They shared push-pull relationship for years, and I liked how they grew together. The supporting characters are amazing! I like the family bonds and the friendship in this series. Savannah Peachwood and Brian Pallino did a great job with the narration. I enjoyed it.
Good read. Trace and Bridle book was predictable but enjoyable. Glad the secret wasn’t drawn out. Love the supportive families. The series is very romantic and hot with little drama. Worth the price.
This was a wonderfully romantic book. These two have been in love with each other since early teenage years. Brindle Montgomery and Trace Jericho are the ultimate “it” couple in their small town.
Brindle is a 25 year old woman that loves to party at the creek, dancing on Tuesdays at the local bar on Girls’ Night Out and being with Trace. She is an English teacher at the local high school but she has problems with communicating with Trace though. Trace for his part is a 28 year old cowboy that didn’t go to college as he didn’t want to be away from Brindle or the ranch for long. He now helps to run the family ranch with another brother and sister due to his father’s health. Trace loves his monthly early morning horse riding with his brothers and loves his Mustang (his pet name for Brindle).
Brindle returns to Oak Falls after an extended stay in Paris, France. She is pregnant and she goes to the Jerichos’ barn bash to tell her family and Trace. Unfortunately Trace jumps to the wrong conclusions as to the paternity and the book really starts with glimpse into their relationship.
I adored how these two get over the misunderstanding and how they work on their relationship. It was a refreshing change to see the continued growth of these two and the lengths they went to to work on the relationship and themselves.
While this is a part of a series, you don’t have to read in order to comprehend this story. Also it is a sexy read. I highly recommend this to anyone over the age of 18.
I loved Brindle and Trace’s story! Brindle was always the wild child who didn’t want to be pinned down. She returns from her trip to Paris with a bun in the oven and sets the small town rumor mills on fire.
“I like hearing you say I’m yours… Then tell me again so I can hear it in my dreams.”
Trace and Brindle really needed to grow throughout this story. They have always had a wild on again/off again relationship. They both need to learn to forgive and allow themselves to just love each other.
-4.5 Stars!-
4.5 Rebel Stars!
I loved this sweet, heartwarming and steamy romance. I have been so excited for Brindle and Trace’s story and it was all I hoped for and more! Brindle and Trace have been close friends and on-again off-again lovers since they were young teens. They are both wild, and rebellious, and would fight as passionately as they loved, and they always had each others back. They knew each other better than anyone, but unfortunately they couldn’t be honest about their feelings for each other. When Brindle comes home from Paris with a baby bump, Trace is hurt and furious that she would fall for someone else, and they weren’t here taking care of her. But he would, whether the baby was his or not. When Trace steps up to the plate, there is no stopping him. He has played by her rules long enough, now he was in charge. I loved how they were friends and lovers for so long but knew it was time to break old childish patterns and learn how to have a mature, forever, loving relationship. They worked hard to be better, no matter how they might stumble along the way. Brindle and Trace were so much fun, and I really loved the swoony gestures that Trace made! Of course their family interactions were priceless as well, especially a few scenes with Brindle’s parents that had me laughing out loud.
Narrators Savannah Peachwood, and Brian Pallino are so perfect as Brindle and Trace. Their expressive voices and ability to easily move between fun and flirty to impassioned and poignant is incredible. I love listening to them both and they definitely make this story even better.
I have read all of Melissa’s books. I now listen to her audiobooks. I love audiobooks because it lets me listen while I drive. Audio is gread at this time. With now working from home, i get to listen while doing work.
Trace is a sexy cowboy who has had Brindle is a head strung girl. You can not push her into anything. The two have been on and off “friends with benefits”. Although, Trace didn’t see it that way. Brindle left for Paris, Trace doesn’t know why. Upon her return she is with child. At first no one know who the father is. You will love this book. It is a stand-alone with a HEA.
I was wondering how this story would go with us already knowing that Trace and Brindle were together before she jetted off to Paris. But this story was great! We already knew that Trace and Brindle had a very fire-y relationship. They both are wild are heart and don’t like being told what to do, plus they were hiding their true feelings from one another. Both Brindle and Trace thought they were protecting their hearts by not completely giving them to each other, when they were actually driving a wedge between them.
This one came through with lot’s of hot and crazy times. This story’s steam level was definitely on the high side. Regardless of the state Brindle was in and the uncertainty of their relationship, these two could not keep their hands off each other. But I loved that their feelings for each other remained so “like new” since they had been together for so many years. It was good to see them solidify their relationship.
The narration was good as well. It brought the story to life and provided the effective feel of the scenes happening throughout.
Wow! I could not put this book down once I started it. I absolutely loved Trace and Brindle’s story. They are perfect together and I loved watching them grow as a couple. It was so nice seeing Trace expressing his thoughts and feelings towards Brindle. I love every character in this series and can’t wait for the next book. Savannah Peachwood and Brian Pallino did a wonderful job in the audio version of Wild, Crazy Hearts. They brought the story and characters to life.
