The road you take cannot be undone.Kasha never quite fit in. So she left home long ago to pursue her career in art. Hell, she ran as fast as she could away from her minister father and his judgmental ways. Yet, she loved her parents, so when the dreams surrounding a church filled with fire and blood kept repeating itself, it was all she could paint. She had to warn them. Only to arrive too late … too late to save them. Now she found herself running once again, only this time away from a nightmare.
In her mad flight, she took a turn off the highway. Soon realizing she might have run toward something even worse. This time she couldn’t run, she couldn’t lie to herself anymore. She was more than an artist. She had to learn to fully embrace and unleash her powers within. She had to know who and what she truly was and learn to stand her ground.

Kasha has visions. They’re never clear and they may have happened already. The problem is no one believes her, least of all her parents. Her mom can be sympathetic, but her inflexible minister-father isn’t having it. He wants her to pray and abstain from painting the mostly nude angels depicting violent scenes she sees in her visions.
But Kasha cannot deny who she is—or who she believes she is—and takes off as soon as she’s old enough, supporting herself with the sales of her paintings.
When visions of devastation and death lead Kasha to reach out to her father, he still doesn’t believe in her gift, even as the west coast is destroyed by natural disasters. She races to save her parents, only to arrive too late. Kasha is stunned to find her parents and the people they sheltered with didn’t die disaster-related deaths, they were murdered by a being she cannot identify. And she runs.
Not knowing what she’s running from… or to, Kasha falls down the paranormal rabbit hole and learns shifters, mages, and magic exists, monsters are real, about her true identity… and the part she must play in an age-old prophecy.
I loved this read! The plot and detailed world-building pulled me right in. All the characters are powerful with well-defined personalities.
Kasha is a great protagonist/heroine. With no time to mourn the loss of her parents, her life changes overnight. It’s difficult to accept, but she does while learning a new way of life.
Terri and Curtis are my favorite characters so far. Terri’s like Badass mom number one and Curtis is the nice guy… and they’ll both rip a body to shreds! HA!
This needs to be a movie so I can see Leonidas’ black lion!
There is a disclaimer that Wild Child ends on a cliffhanger but think from The Two Towers to Return of the King. It’s about to go down in book two… and I’m here for it!
Start this journey today!
Enjoy!
An intriguing plot filled with likable characters. There was a bit too much passive voice and a few issues missed in editing such as Leonidas repeating himself numerous times, but nothing that will prevent me from reading the next book.
I don’t read alot of fantasy books. But Wild Child is an awesome story!! I’m hooked I have to see how this ends. This story was entertaining, interesting with great characters. I loved the book!! And Laverne Thompson is a new author to me. I definitely recommend you read this book!!
I couldn’t put this book down.
From beginning to end I was completely captivated. Action, adventure, mystery, betrayal, yummy food, engaging characters, and masterful world-building.
Two worlds. Earth Prime and Earth Primary. This was very confusing to me in the beginning but is explained in a way to easily tell the difference.
I wasn’t real thrilled with the cliffhanger ending, but it was done at a logical point in the story. And since the next book is out I’m going to purchase it and start reading it straight away.
When your life isn’t what you thought it would be, running toward your dreams seems like a good idea. But when other unwanted dreams come to you, helping others is your only thought. But not being about able to do , would send anyone running away. But what will you find, will you survive it and will it make you weak or strong? Finding out that your talent isn’t the only thing you have, can surprise and shock a person. Accepting it can make you strong and perhaps it will save you in ways that didn’t expect.
Well written story with great characters and world building. Really enjoyable read and I look forward to reading the next one.
“13% and there was action, mystery, suspense and attraction. I feel bad for Kasha, I couldn’t imagine what she had to endured growing up with no one who can truly understand her gift. This is the second time I read something like this and m pretty interesting in how things are going to continue. Also, I’m was dying to know more about Leonidas, whom turns out to be THE King. The story was great! The constant battle between ‘light and dark’, Kasha finding out the truth about her mom and her paintings. And THAT ending!!! What no! I need moreee! And the excerpt… for example who’s that woman? No, don’t trust her!!
Captivating! Swept up in this action-packed urban fantasy I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed the fast-pace and exciting concept. The various and original species were well done and I can’t wait to see what happened next!
3 Cranky Stars
I will start by saying I have mixed feelings about this book. There are some really great moments mixed with poor writing choices and strange tonal shifts.
I feel like Kasha could have been a great heroine, but her reactions and internal dialogue are strange. For example, when her loved one dies, someone she was intimate with, she is laughing and thinking of another man sexually with in the same day! Her reactions and thoughts are often wooden, robotic, and not rational.
The hero, Leonidas, is much better written. His reactions and internal dialogue makes a lot more sense and therefore he is the more relatable of the two.
I think calling the 2 different worlds Primary Earth and Earth Prime was a bad choice. It got a bit confusing at times and the differences in the people from the 2 worlds were convoluted. There needed to be bigger differences.
It was sort of forgettable. I give it 3 out of 5 stars. It was meh.
Kasha has always had dreams that seem to predict the future and the present. She’s been having one over and over about her parents and tries to warn them. They won’t listen so she goes to them but is too late. The discoveries she makes about herself and others through the book at a surprise. This book is worth the read couldn’t put it down.
Kasha always felt like an outsider. She never got along with her father. When she has dreams about fire and destruction, warns them, but she’s too late. Now she doesn’t know what to do. A turn down an unknown road opens up her life to a new world. Life will never be the same.
Kasha had always felt out of place when it came to her home life, which is why when she turned 18 she decided it was time to find her own comfort zone. She had no idea that many years after finally finding a city she thrived in and a fulfilling career , that her life as she knew it would be forever changed in ways that she could have never imagined.
Without giving away to much of the story, Wild Child is a story of revelations as Kasha attempts find answers to questions she’s always had while coming into her own. The characters she meets along the way makes accepting her new reality a little easier but not without resistance and also made for a action packed enjoyable read. If you’re looking for romance though you won’t find much although there is a touch of attraction simmering just below the surface, so I’m sure as the series goes on the pages will hear up. I look forward to book two in the series as this does end in a cliffhanger with more secrets revealed and more exciting story line to unfold.
