Hunter Blake is baseball’s bad boy. He’s wild, with a reputation a mile long. He’s fodder for both the sports and gossip pages, but Hunter has a secret even the tabloids don’t know: he’s madly in love with country singer Marlowe Story and has been for months. He’ll do anything for her, including staying married after they drunkenly say “I do” at a Vegas wedding chapel during a weekend hookup. … Under the guise of helping both of their careers, he’s happy to stay in the fake marriage, especially because his feelings for her are anything but fake. And now is his chance to show Marlowe what they could have.
Marlowe might sing about love and fairy tales, but she doesn’t believe in happily ever after, especially when it comes to bad boy Hunter. Even if he is the sexiest man she’s ever met, and even if their chemistry is off the charts. When she can’t seem to stay out of his bed, she convinces herself that she can give him her body without giving him her heart. But their fake marriage starts to feel awfully real as she glimpses a sensitive, artistic, vulnerable side of Hunter he keeps hidden from everyone but her.
Because deep down, this bad boy is broken, and only Marlowe’s love can heal him.

When bad boy baseball player wakes up married to good girl country star Marlowe they decide to stay married to help him look more settled and maybe crank her stale career up. This is a sweet romance story with two people who seem too different but were made for each other. Loved it!
This story was really fun to read. It just felt somehow while reading it, that it would lead to a good ending, which it did… But sports romances can be sort of single minded stories which this one is as far from as possible. Telling both sides and placing keyp people around the two leading characters in this story. It was just all very well done and it was also very well written. So overall a very good job and therefore this story is very deserving of the fantastic four stars I am giving it here.

This was a well done baseball story that was not too heavy in the sport but emphasized the propensity If the sport to lead to failure and Hunter’s efforts to avoid real failure by sabotaging himself before it could happen.
Marlowe was another area in his life he dreaded to fail, so being insecure and unable to accept minor setbacks caused him to keep shooting himself in the foot. Is she going to start wondering if she should just give up on him?

Two unlikely people find love through an unexpected Vegas wedding and must face their past to find happiness. I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Hunter is a baseball star and Marlowe is a singer who wind up married after too much drinking and partying in Las Vegas. They had been hooking up in the past and Hunter had gotten into trouble protecting Marlowe in the fast. The story is about their decision about whether they want to stay married and how they deal with the problems that evolve. Hunter has a major fear of failure and Marlowe is afraid to admit her feelings.
This was a fun book to read and I enjoyed the writing and the story.

Book 2 in the Dallas Longhorns series and this is Hunter’s story. We got to meet Hunter in book 1 and I have been waiting for his story. Hunter and Marlowe were so good together. Their relationship has just been a hookup here and there when they needed a quick fix. When he gets a text to go to Vegas to meet up with her, he jumps at the chance to get away from his problems. Too bad his problems just got a little worse when they wake up married. Will they stay married or is it over before it really began? I highly recommend this book.

The bad boy of baseball marries the good girl of country music, in a quickie drunken marriage in Vegas. Love the beginning of this storyline, great characters with so much baggage can these two ever work thru their past issues and see if they really have a chance. Wonderful in how both Marlowe and Hunter grow and confront their own feelings for each other and their careers. This was a great addition on the Dallas Longhorn series, I enjoyed how you get a snippet into the next book and see which couple is up to bat.
Wild Card is a quick, easy to read story set in a bad boy baseball player and a good girl country music star. It is entertaining and I would love to read more of the stories in the series. I felt the conflict was anti-Climatic. I was expecting slightly more drama. Overall it’s a entertaining sports romance! I enjoyed reading it!!
One night in Vegas changes everything for Marlowe and Hunter. Hunter is suspended from his team and Marlowe’s career has started to become old. However when news of their impulsive wedding hits the winds of change work in their favor. The longer he is around Marlowe the more he wants their marriage to be real. Yet Marlowe finds it hard to trust and just as it looks as though things are going well for them a misunderstanding occurs. Can Hunter get Marlowe to take a chance on them?
This is an amazing story once Is started it I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Risk taking for a new chance
4.5
Very good romance on the risk taking of the two heroes: Marlowe, pop country’s singer, denies and refuses a relationship with the only man she wants, Hunter, who is considered as a bad boy of baseball because he struggling to handle this situation and is suspended. But when they get married after a night of drunkenness in Vegas, their story can start over. For their careers, Marlowe agrees to remain married for a few months. This situation forces them to face their demons.
The story is very well written, very romantic and a bit hot. The characters are well constructed and from the start we feel that a lot has been buried in their past as well as in the unspoken story of the relationship which supposedly does not exist. I really liked these characters, at the same time simple, endearing and a little lost, who find each other and support each other when they can.

Wild Card was the second book in the Dallas Longhorns series by Tara Wyatt.
Hunter Blake was a professional baseball player for the Dallas Longhorns. He was the son of a Hall of Famer, a bad boy in baseball and had the reputation of a partying playboy.
Marlowe Story was a Country Music star who had a good girl reputation but her career had become stagnate.
I loved Hunter from book one because I knew there was more to him than what the world saw. I wasn’t a fan of Marlowe in the beginning. She seemed selfish, shallow and self absorbed. I saw a man in love with a woman who knew he was in love with her and was using it to her advantage without any thought or care for his feelings. The book progressed and I still didn’t see it change. However, at about 50%, things began to change and she grew on me.
All in all, Wild Card was well written with an intriguing storyline. I enjoyed it, but I desired a different outcome with Marlowe’s ex. In today’s environment, secrecy was not an acceptable closure and the entire situation was skipped over too much for me. And same for Hunter, I craved more depth into the why of his actions. As a whole, I craved more depth into both areas.
Otherwise, it was a quick and enjoyable read. Additionally, the way was paved for Abby and Jake’s story and I can’t wait. And Javi and Aerin would make an awesome pair as well!
This story is true a Tara Wyatt style – great story, witty dialogue, fabulous characters, baseball, romance and so well written. This author is a one-click for me and she totally lived up to the expectation on this book. Had me reading till the very end without a break – just couldn’t put it down. This baseball romance genre was smokin hot in parts with chemistry between the characters off the charts. Perfect balance of baseball, drama, all the feels, sexy moments and romance. A really enjoyable escape from normality. Definitely a must read and worthy of a raining or sunshine afternoon indulgence!! I would highly recommend anything written by this fabulous, talented author. Thank you for another fantastic story that I absolutely loved and will be re-reading all over again!! Happy reading everyone!!
The second book in the Dallas Longhorns series a well written story that held my interest until the end. Dallas Longhorns slugger Hunter Blake and Marlowe Story end up married when they go to Vegas. I enjoyed seeing how they get their happy ending. I want to read the next book. I received an copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I wasn’t sure I was gonna relate to Hunter Blake or Marlowe Story. But you know what?
I got sucked into their drama.
At first, they are both slightly damaged and keeping things as random hookups.
But then, they wake up married in Vegas and decide to stay married for sure to help with their public image. But are there real feelings between the bad boy and the singer?
Recommend.
4.5
Hunter is a baseball player, but his reputation is terrible, so now he has to be a good “boy”. So, what he does? He get text from Marlowe to see her in Vegas.
Marlowe is country music signer, her latest album is not doing well, she need distraction and who is better at distracting than Hunter. They spent few days in Vegas. There is a saying “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”, not this time, especially when you get married.
Great story, enjoyed a lot.
Tara Wyatt’s Wild Card is the second in her Texas Longhorns series. This particular novel features Hunter Blake, the bay boy of baseball, and Marlowe Story, the good girl of country music.
Ever since he first laid eyes on Marlowe, Hunter knew he’d do anything to make her happy. Even if that meant taking the fall for her for a drug charge and further damaging his reputation. After exiting a very public (and secretly abusive) relationship, Marlowe has put up walls. All of the walls. But she just can’t seem to shake Hunter, or her need for him. After a drunken night in Vegas, Hunter and Marlowe wake up married, and decide to keep up the ruse to help both of their careers. Little does Marlowe know that Hunter will stop at nothing to make her his for real.
This is a fast, fun read that you can easily consume in one sitting. I love a story where the hero puts it all on the line for the heroine, and then she has to step up and give him that same energy in return. There’s a good push-pull dynamic between Marlowe and Hunter, and their chemistry is pretty steamy. There’s also some groundwork laid for the next installment in the series, and I already can’t wait to read it!
