I was twenty-one when the gypsy read my future:As punishment for your crimes, you will only love one woman…but she’ll never love you back.I didn’t believe a word of it.Until I met Sofia Romano almost ten years later.I fell hard for this woman. Would die for this woman. But she left me.Now years have passed and Sofia needs a husband. Her father is gone and her mother is trying to marry her off to … father is gone and her mother is trying to marry her off to a man that can protect their family, protect their company.
She’s looking for someone powerful.
Check.
Someone rich.
Check.
Someone handsome.
Double check.
Now it’s my chance to have the only woman I’ve ever loved…and I’ll make sure she feels the same way.
I have a lifetime to make that happen.

I’m always excited to read a Penelope Sky book, as I know it will be amazing. But at the same time, I try to hold off on starting, as I know it will be amazing and I’ll want the next straight away!
Wife, the first book in the new Betrothed series, was no exception – I waited as long as I could before starting. I read this way too quick. I started reading blinked and I was finished.
Hades Lombardi wants the girl. He has never wanted a woman as much as he wants her but will the gypsy’s fortune come true? – the woman he loves will never love him back. She’ll never want to marry him. Will fate find a way for them to be together?
Sofia Romano has dreams of taking over her family business, but what she doesn’t know is that she’ll need to be married to keep it. She has no desire to be in a relationship, committed or otherwise. She is happy having no strings fun, until he wants more from her which she isn’t willing to give. If she wants the business, she has no choice!
Loving the start of this series and can’t wait for more! It didn’t disappoint at all! It had everything I’ve come to love from Penelope Sky’s books. The sassy female lead, the hot brooding male lead, hot chemistry and then the twist.
Penelope never disappoints. Love her writing and her stories!
This one started out a bit slow but not less enjoyable then the others. It ended on a cliffy and I am guessing the second book will be more exciting! Nevertheless, the story was still great and the characters are lovable and hot hot hot!
Page-turner, characters were realistic, interesting and intriguing. Couldn’t wait to read the next book n the series.
Absolutely loved this book! Ms. Skye has a way with her stories that pulls a reader into the characters lives. This is definitely a must read series. You won’t be disappointed in the least but be ready for some long evenings, as you won’t be able to put the book down.
It was a lust at first sight.
She was barely legal.
He was the most handsome man at the ball.
It was just a kiss
But it cemented everything happen in the future.
I have never dislike a heroin like I dislike Sofia.
If their character were reversed, Sofia is the man and Hades is the woman, she would be the a*hole. She would be that cold b*trd that scared of commitment and just wants s*x. She use him, dump him, crawl back and ask for forgiveness and dump him cold when he wants commitment and Dare to call hom a*hole when give her cold shoulder and make out with other woman in front of her???
Now, I admire her strong will to run her family hotel. I admire her independence. Not when she wants to eat the whole cokie and not take responsible of other people feelings and Dare to call it feminism, oh no just NO! And she Dare to look down to him for his dirty occupation while when he’s giving her lots of O, I didn’t catch one single time she said NO. Cause hello, apparently bad guy hot when in ned but outside he’s despicable??? That just BS, not being strong minded woman!
And Hades. He’s dominant. An Alpha who knew from the start that he gonna fall in love with her. That’s doesn’t make him the girl in their relationship. Even I got angry when he in his angry mood toward Sofia in their angry s*x make her kneeling and ask for forgiveness. But Hades pay back thousands times better. His loyalty. His love. His true words to her. His gentleness. And when all that being thrown to his face not just one time, I can understand why he’s livid.
Wife is definitly a five star in steamy. Three in female character. Four and half for Hades since no one is perfect even the fiction one. Four for keeping me up all night to re-read it just for me to understand all the hate Sofia throw to Hades in chapter one of Husband.

Okay, i am totally, completely, unconditionally in love with this series.
This is my first read by Penelope Sky and I’m ready for more.
The first thing that got my attention was the book description. I was beyond intrigued, then a friend posted a quote from the book and that’s when i knew i had to read it, like yesterday.
And now i met one of my favorite characters, Hades Lombardi. Yes you heard me right, his name is Hades as in God of the Underworld. How can you not love him??? Hades was a bad man, the kind of man that your mom told you to stay away from. He was strong, powerful, feared, dark. He had a warning sing above his head that reads: DANGER, STAY AWAY.
But of course you can’t. And Sofia, oh my goodness I LOVE HER. I totally have a girl crush here.
She is perfection. that’s the only way i can describe her. She is strong, sassy, smart, hot, she’s literally the perfect package. I love the way she keeps Hades on his toes, the way she stands up for what she believes in no matter the consequences.
I love everything about their story, and can’t wait to see how things go for both of them. So far I’m in love with this series .
Interesting story Hades and Sofia both seem to want the same things in life. He is the bad criminal making his living in the underworld. Sofia wants to be in control and run the hotel business her inheritance by the law and its killing her that its different for a woman than for a man to be in control. Even though we’re living in a modern world, women are unfortunately still treated unfairly but Sofia is definitely is resistant and not wanting to rely on a man to help her succeed. Can’t wait to read the second book!
This book was more like a prologue for me, there was hardly any story because it was 80% sex, boring sex. I actually had to double check if this book was written by Penelope Sky, the same author as Buttons, Skull king etc. Because you guys the sex scenes in those books were but in Wife the sex scenes were so boring. It was basically “He rolled a condom on then fucked me.”
“Fuck me harder”
However i did like the plot of this book, it touches the issue regarding a woman who wants to succeed in a “man’s world”. And the refreshing thing about this book is that the Sofia is afraid of commitment not Hades. He tried to persuade her into forming a relationship with him but she always backed off. Finally he asked her to marry him and she said no, so he told her to fuck off. I’m team Hades at this point even though i do understand Sofia’s POV, as she had never seen a happy relationship between her parents growing up and she was fed by her mother that she needs a man to take care of her to let HIM handle the family business and her to just sit and order other people.
Overall the plot is very interesting but like i said this book felt like a prologue to be as there was less story and more boring sex. I just hope the next book the sex is interesting and not just Sofia saying “fuck me harder” every time they have sex, honestly that was the only thing being said again and again like a broken tape recorder.
I normally don’t care about the sex scenes I mostly skip them but compared to her other books, those specific scenes are always so sexy and well written and in Wife it was as if Penelope couldn’t even bother……
This is a great start to this series. Sofia and Hade have pulled me into there story and I’m diein to see what will happen next. Penelope Sky has done a fantastic job at at pulling us into this story and keeping us on edge .
A page turner for sure. Sophia who is a strong independent woman knows what she wants and doesn’t let her mother push her in the direction she wants her to go in. Sophia and Hades have a relationship that Hades wants more of but Sophia is too stubborn. I can’t want for Husband to see what Sophia does.
This book had me sucked in from the very beginning. December can’t come soon enough to continue on with the story between Hades and Sofia. Penelope Sky is good about leaving you hanging and craving the part of the story.
I absolutely love everything that Penelope Sky writes. I’m seriously in love with Hades. I’m getting tired of the way Sophia treating Hades and his feelings. I’m hoping that Sophia will get act together in the next book because Hades deserves love and happiness. I want the fortune teller’s prediction to be wrong. I want a HEA for Hades and Sophia. Don’t let me down Penelope Sky.
Great characters! Heart wrenching love story. Penelope always finds a way to get us to love the bad guys! She has a way of turning so much bad into someone so honorable, loving and protective. My heart feels for Hades and truly hopes Sofia has a change of heart. Well done Penelope!
Again Penelope you wrote a great book. Sofia is a very strong independent woman. I understand she’s scared to get married she saw everything her parents went through. Not loving one another. But she needs to admit to herself she loves Hades. Can’t wait to read the next one “Husband”.
OMG! What if a mafioso boss fell in love with a woman and she did not love him? To what extremes would he go in order to seduce her and try to get her to fall in love with him?
Hades has his fortune read by a gypsy when he was twenty one years old. Although it was just for fun, the gypsy was very serious and would not take money from him. All she did was pity him and let him know his sins would catch up with him and his curse for life would be to fall in love with a woman who could never love him. He did not give it a second thought and moved on with his life.
Now that he has met Sophia and has fallen hard for her, he can only wonder if what was foretold could possibly be true?
This is a love story like no other. Hades is kind and generous to Sophia. He has a special place in his heart for her and would never hurt her. He wants to protect her from all the evil that surrounds them. Yet Sophia does not want to ever marry or fall in love. She was witness to what marriage can be like when she was young and never forgot how her parents were. Now, no matter how good the sex is with Hades, she will not give in and fall in love and risk being controlled by a man.
I definitely recommend this book to those of you who love a complex relationship. Independent women with a desire to maintain control of their lives step up and grab this book. It is definitely for you.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
Penelope just keeps getting better! Wife…Sophia NEVER wants to be one. The become property, they are beaten and ignored, a show pony. Nope not for her! Her inheritance is a Hotel conglomerate that she plans to run, except……That’s not how it works! Hades, the man she met at a party when she was 18, pushed all her buttons. One Kiss that’s all it took to want him. Four years later, after college she see’s him again. But she has rules ONLY sex, no relationship, no dating, no marriage. Hades was fine, until he wasn’t. Then Sophie’s world is turned upside down. And we wait for book 2.
I love it! Now the pages are turned!! I can’t wait for Husband
OMG! How can Penelope Sky keep writing these sexy, bad *ss men and women? I adore Hades. His devotion to Sofia is heartwarming. Sofia is cold-hearted and very much against marriage and falling in love. She is bitter to the extreme. But she never did forget about Hades when they met years prior when she was still 18 and very young and naive. When they become reacquainted 4 years later, Sofia and Hades begin an extremely sexy affair. Neither can get enough of each other. But Hades is falling hard and fast. Sofia is still holding her ground and won’t budge on starting an actual relationship with Hades. The book ends on a whopper of a cliffhanger. What will become of Sofia and Hades? Will she finally tear down her walls? Ugh…this is going to be torture waiting for Husband.
I absolutely enjoyed this book to the fullest!!! It’s definitely a great start for a new series. It’s not your typical love story that’s for sure and I like that a lot. In a way I feel so bad for Hades. I loving this story so much that I’m not even mad that it ends on a cliffhanger. Super excited to see what else is in store for this series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
This love story is very different than all of the others. Sofia’s attitude towards relationships goes against what typical romance novels portray. Hades is determined to capture Sofia’s love and Sofia is determined to keep their relationship purely physical. This book took many twists that I didn’t expect. I couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait to see how their story unfolds.
