Wow I’m in love with this series. This book continue from the first book. And wow try his book is amazing and was hard to put down. I love the beautiful writing style that has you feeling like you are right there with everyone. And fighting alongside them to keep what they feel is their love
But is their love strong enough to get them through the trouble issues..
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
It is time to catch up with Lo and Maverick as their story continues in this second installment to this fantastic YA/NA romance series. Maverick finally stopped fighting his feelings so now this due is officially together but that does not mean things will even remotely be easy for the two of them. We get his backstory to explain what is happening and you cannot help but to root for the two of them as they work through their issues. Makes for an angsty romance read that you won’t want to put down once you get started. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Wicked rules was as good as wicked beginnings I loved the Lo & Maverick relationship how it grows & becomes stronger than before. Also the steaminess ,the chemistry I loved it so so much.
In this book we get to know so much more about Maverick and some things was heart-recking but something made me angry but still I love this book well you can also say I love every book L.A. Cotton writes. Best YA/NA Author. I loved it overall looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
After finishing book one, I hungrily dove right into this one. Maverick has finally embraced his feelings- and is finally with Lo. Of course, Maverick’s legacy and deplorable father, amongst other obstacles, force them to keep their newly open love…well…not open. And, they have a lot of demons to face, demons they can face while leaning on each other, even though they can’t do so publicly.
There were times where I wanted to rage and throw my kindle- I hate so much the unnecessary pain and turmoil for these two after all the drama of their path to love. Maverick deserves to be happy, and he certainly deserves better than to suffer the sins of his family, and Lo has so much vulnerability and baggage from her past struggles, I wanted so much for her to just find her peace. Instead, she’s sacrificing herself and her needs in service of others, giving so much to Maverick, and being so patient and generous. But, I definitely loved digging into all the layers of Maverick, and I love that his increased emotional vulnerability gives Lo the safety and emotional connection she needs to start opening up too- even if she closes in on herself a bit.
The chemistry between them is undeniable and even stronger in book 2- magnetic despite the countless obstacles and secrets and all that angsty drama. And with a well rounded cast of secondary players, all the suspense, and emotional character arcs, the story is a great read- the kind of YA/NA addictive story that is highly bingeable and just yummy. Looking forward to more from this series!
I loved book two in the Wicked Bay Series. I would definitely recommend reading this book. It picked up where book one left off nicely. Watching the characters evolve over the course of this book was just as amazing as the first book. They still had their ups and downs .If you have not read the first book Wicked Beginnings that is a must to know what has happened leading up to this book. It was amazing I could not put it down and read it same day. I received an ARC copy of this book to leave my honest review of it.
Lo and Maverick’s second and last book in the Wicked Bay series.
It picked right up where the first book ended, and it didn’t disappoint.
Heartache, intrigue, and dysfunctional families.
Alec Prince pulling Maverick- or anyone for that matter – on strings just to get what he wants.
He got tge surprise of his life when he had to realise he got played.
This book almost broke me. I was a completely mess through all the book, right there with the characters, through all the happy moments, the romance, angst, the tears and all the events.
As always, the amazing L.A Cotton delivered an impeccable book, that left me wanting for more. I loved the way the story unfolded and the development of the characters.
Maverick, he really hit rock bottom in this book, scaring the living life out of Lo and all those around them, and also me. I was so scared for him, and also for them. I have been rooting for them since the beginning, since the first book.
Eloise, my sweet and beautiful girl. She is so good and kind, almost too kind for her own good. She stood beside Maverick through everything, no matter how bad it had gotten. She remained by his side, loving him with all she got.
My heart broke for her, but she yet proved how strong she is, and what a perfect match she is for Maverick.
Kyle still remains my favorite (yep, I said it and I’m not taking it back), I loved how protective of Lo he was through all the book, and how hard he tried to help his step-brother and his cousin. I am so excited for his book.
The ending melted me completely, love always wins, no matter what or who tries to get in the way. I am so excited for the next books in this series, so curious and eager to find more about my favorite characters.
I love Lo’s strength. She endured more than she should have and still stuck by Maverick’s side. He is definitely the luckier one in the relationship. The pair may have gotten the hea for now but I’m looking forward to what new angst the author has in store for us in Wicked Bay. P.S I adore the secondary characters especially Kyle.
I love that we get dual POVs in this follow up and we’re able to see how strongly Maverick really feels for Lo. Now that they’re finally a couple, it’s definitely not all smooth sailing and being forced to keep their relationship a secret begins to take a heavy toll. Thankfully by the conclusion, it seems like they’ve finally got it all figured out although there is room to continue their story and take it further.
Wicked Rules was definitely addicting and makes me want to continue the rest of the series to find out what all the others get up to and of course, to see more of Maverick and Lo’s story. I lool forward to reading more of L.a. Cotton’s works!
‘We were both broken, but together, we were whole.’—I love this. Lo & Maverick have so many obstacles to over come. Some of those obstacles should be smacked around a little bit lol. Despite everything Lo & Mav are able to both grow and trust each other. And that’s what means the most:)
As we rejoin our broken heroine Lo we learn that she is once again in the center in trouble, her choice to be with Maverick has put a target on her back and everyone around them is taking aim. They have been dating in secret, for reasons that Maverick hasn’t been all that forthcoming about, but he promises to make it known that they are together. But just as he plans to share the news he learns that doing so will put Lo in danger. So he tells her they need to keep everyone in the dark a while longer, not realizing that it could do more harm than good for them. The secret begins to take a toll on their relationship and he begins to realize if he doesn’t do something he could lose her for good…
This was such a wonderful addition to the series, it gave us a more in depth look into Maverick’s life and explains why he is so closed off and pushes people away. It’s easy to see that he is just as damaged as Lo, and I think that may have been one of the things that held them together, understanding each others pain. I loved every minute of this one, the angst and torment, the drama, the blooming romance, and the bits of suspense… it was the perfect escape! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Overall a great book and Maverick managed to capture my attention this time. The only downfall was I hate when there is no cliffhanger warning and the endings feel rushed. I literally had to double check that I wasn’t missing part of the book. The writing is what keeps me around and I’ll definitely pick up the next book, I just hope there are no cliffhangers.
L.A. Cotton writes an angsty, sexy and swoony happy for now conclusion to Lo and Maverick’s story.
In the years I’ve been reading, I can count with one hand the number of young adult authors who’ve captured my attention. I’ve now added L.A. Cotton to that short list.
Wicked Rules picks up shortly after Wicked Beginnings left off. I laughed, got angry, swooned, in short my heart was put through the wringer mostly because I was in agony reading how Maverick and Lo had to endure keeping their love a secret and watching the burden of it take its toll.
Their chemistry and love is undeniable and I loved all the sweet and sexy times they shared. I appreciated how Lo put on her big girl panties and supported Maverick’s not only in pursuing his dream but also protecting his family at such a great cost to both of them. And I loved Rick’s growth from coldhearted and aloof to vulnerable and yet loving and fierce protector.
L.A. Cotton blends the perfect mix of angst, drama and swoon. I literally could not put this book down and read it from start to finish in a single sitting.
Wicked Rules is book #2 of the Wicked Bay series by L.A. Cotton. It is a Young Adult, swoony story told from both points of view and has a happy ending. Genre: young adult romance Tropes: Basketball Romance
4 stars for Wicked Rules by LA Cotton. This is book 2 in the Wicked Bay Series. Now that Maverick and Lo are together , what will happen now that they are together. Them two being together has put a target on Lo. Can these two survive all the secrets.
“I think I fell in love with you that very first night. An angel in the darkness.”
I loved these two together. They both have secrets and a past that they need to move forward from but it is harder for them than they think. Maverick is hiding a lot from Lo , will she be able to get over the secrets he has. These two really pulled at my heart. I did not think I would like Maverick as much as I did because of how he was to Lo in book one. However, we find out a lot more about Maverick in this book.
I’d brush myself off, paint on a smile, and pretend everything was fine. Even if it wasn’t. Even if I didn’t know how much more I had left to give.
I am telling you this book is a must read. I liked it a lot and felt many emotions while reading it.
I listened to this one, again on Audible, in a little less the than 24 hours. I was up in the middle of the night listening and raging, crying, worrying about Maverick and Lo. The narration by Luiza Westwood and Fred Berman was sooo good, they just pulled you into the story and you were lost in it. And with this one that was torture. Lol! Maverick and Lo are finally together…yay!! But everyone is trying to rip them apart. It’s so frustrating. But then there’s Kyle. Cousin Kyle, he does everything he can to help them out, and he does! I’m really loving this series!! Especially on audible, but I’m sad because it looks like there’s only one more from the series on audible. I hope she eventually puts the rest up. But the series is great, whether you listen to or read it!!

Wicked Rules is just that: Wicked!
I didn’t know what hit me until I finished the book. If I had have the time, I would have finished it in one sitting. I already really liked Wicked Beginnings but Wicked Rules simply topped it. And with so much ease I never expected.
Best way to describe Lo and Rick is this quote: “We were both broken, but together, we were whole.”
This book has everything I expect from a great YA romance: great chemistry, heart break, suspense, trouble, easy lovable side characters, complications which makes things more interesting, intense love scenes, finding ways to solve problems, character development, and so on.
It’s weird how I couldn’t feel the chemistry between Lo and Rick in the first book, but now it’s more than obvious how much they are in love with each other and how far they would go to protect the other.
In Wicked Beginnings we learned a lot about Lo and her past. This second book is more about Rick and his past. He learns to trust Lo enough to open up. It’s an interesting process to follow and the truth will break your heart as much as it did for Lo in the first book.
Wicked Rules is a great, intriguing and emotional read which makes you feel things to the bone!
“As I stared down at her – the girl who held my heart in the palm of her hand – I knew I was going to hell.”
“Whether she meant to do it or not, Lo filled some of the black holes in my soul, replacing them with light. Blinding white light.”
I couldn’t wait for this 2nd instalment of Wicked Bay from Wicked beginnings we were left with so many secrets and we knew for sure that Lo and Mavericks story was far from over.
Well we’re not disappointed in Wicked Rules, there was so much to this story. I felt like we hadn’t touch the surface with what both Maverick and Lo were hiding and i couldn’t wait to find out. Once again another of L.A cottons book i couldn’t put down. I didn’t want to rush it but i couldn’t help it.
We finally find out what Maverick is hiding and the the relationship between himself and his father. We find out what happened to Lo’s family and what’s hoops these two have to jump through just to be together and it certainly wasn’t easy and wether it was worth it.
I loved everything about this story, it was perfectly written, loved the story line and really held your interest.
If your into Ya then this is one of my fav series so far and the fact there is No 3 now i am at another waiting game that i can’t wait for.
Massive huge 5 Stars for this baby and if you haven’t started this series you need to and if you’ve been waiting for Wicked Beginnings i know you guys will have bought it.
How is it when you think all the games and lies are all done, there is more? Why does the road to happiness for Mave and Lo have so many barriers? I need more, I need to know what’s going on with the rest of the crew.its going to be hell waiting for the the next installment.
“As I stared down at her-the girl who held my heart in the palm of her hand-I knew I was going to hell. One way or another, my secrets would ruin us. But it was too late to walk away.”
Maverick and Lo already had to overcome some crazy obstacles to be together, and in this next book the odds are completely against them once again. It hurt my hurt to see them struggle so hard, and the emotions run high until you think they are going to pull the plug…or will they? Maverick is that seemingly has it all together boy everyone wants to be or loved by, but Lo reveals the sweet, vulnerability underneath that I love so much!!
“As if he felt me watching, he turned to me and smiled. A rare sight for the boy who carried a darkness within him. A darkness I knew I’d barely uncovered.”
Breadcrumbs are assembled to keep you wanting more of their story, while other major points are resolved enough to make you have the major “feels” for this couple. While they made it through some major obstacles to get a modicum of happiness, you know they will meet additional angsty roadblocks in upcoming installments that I can’t wait to find out if they will make it through. A sweet, fun, angsty ride!!

Lo and Maverick are where they left off. Wicked Rules starts where Wicked Beginnings ended. It’s angsty and full of stomach churning tension. Wicked Rules is everything you would expect from L.A. Cotton’s writing. Longing, need, desire drip off the words. Panic, desperation, and pain leach off of the pages. Love shines in the darkness.
Wicked Rules is truly a rollercoaster of “is love enough to keep them from falling apart.” With so many outside forces against them, Maverick and Lo are struggling. The reader will struggle. It’s so hard to read this book and not fall apart on the inside.
It’s wicked alright. Wickedly entertaining. Wickedly addictive. Wickedly consuming. I started and only had to stop because I was trying to read crossword from exhaustion.
Wicked Bay is filled with rich kids playing games. The place is brimming with dangerous games and consequences. It’s filled with untapped stories and I can’t wait to read them all.
