Wicked or Treat! by Lotta Smith is the perfect cozy mystery to read close to Halloween! I love this series. I love the way Mandy can see and talk to ghosts. I also enjoyed the way that Sophia could see and hear the ghosts and play peek-a-boo with the ghosts.
This is a fun read that also has a mystery in that there is a murder and Mandy, with the help of the victim’s ghost, tries to solve the mystery.
I received this book as a gift and I always review every book that I read. I highly recommend this one. You will not be disappointed.
Sophie decides to come into the world, Rick & Mandy have their little girl. Clara comes to visit she has a case she wants Mandy to look into. A woman fell from her apartment balcony and Clara thinks there may be a problem. They meet Detective Rochester at the site and e feels that it might be murder since there is a large insurance policy on the dead wife.
Another wonderful story with Rick, Mandy and especially Jackie who adds so much to the humor to the situations.. I wasn’t a fan of Jackie a first but now I look forward to what is she going to do, or wear or say next and now she has Clara to form a Duo.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
The characters + storytelling were very captivating
Once again, the usual suspects have a new mystery case to solve.
You think that it is the obvious suspect, but guess again.
Don’t forget baby Sophie!
She is following in the footsteps of her mommy + daddy.
Mandy and Rick are so good with her.
This is a very loved baby.
It has all the ingredients that you need for an awesome book!
I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
“Wicked or Treat” earns 5/5 Ghostly Nannies…Entertaining & Engaging!
Lotta Smith has penned another absolutely entertaining book in her Paranormal in Manhattan series. “Wicked or Treat” is the sixteenth book which means almost a lifetime of good and bad experiences, comings and goings of characters, and ups and downs of relationships have transpired. Although I’ve read several books, there are plenty of references for newbies to easily start here and discover why this series has a huge fan following. And…it’s Halloween! There’s no better way to herald the season than with a plethora of ghosts: a ghost-in-law, recently departed ghost, and a drag queen…ghost! Prologue 1 shares the birth of Mandy and Rick’s newest member of the Rowlings’ family, the first daughter in a hundred years, who enters the world just the way she wants…well, that’s what she says to Jackie! Baby Sophie, who may have her father’s green eyes, has her mother’s ability to see and hear ghosts. Uniquely, a Prologue 2 provides details about a seemingly accidental, but suspicious death. In the first chapter, the story jumps ahead eleven months with Mandy and Rick navigating parenthood, ghost and drag queen Aunt Jackie rocking the nanny bit, and little Sophie delighting everyone. Then Clara, Mandy’s ghost-in-law/Rick’s stepmother, appears asking for Mandy and Rick’s help. She explains she has become ghostly acquainted with a recently deceased middle-aged woman, and although details are sketchy, Clara is convinced the woman was murdered. So, off on a very engaging journey into a cheating husband and a huge life insurance payout. Could it be that simple? Never! Lotta Smith provides an engaging first-person narrative with detailed descriptions of setting appearances and Mandy’s inner thoughts along with entertaining banter. So, along with investigating a suspicious death, twists and turns, various ghosts to contend with, and an exciting conclusion, there are diapers, feedings, strollers, and smiles. All of this makes for a very delightful experience!
