Wicked Omens
Cursed Coven, Book 5
By: Patricia D. Eddy, Midnight Coven
Narrated by: Shane East, Greg Boudreaux
Patricia D Eddy for me is a phenomenal romantic suspense author. I have enjoyed her Away From the Keyboard series, so when the opportunity to listen to this novella came up, I jumped on it! You can’t go wrong with a paranormal with witches, angels and vampires, right? Killian is a powerful witch, so powerful he has trouble controlling himself. He has had a terrible experience, causing the death of the man he loved and has not forgiven himself. Now ten years later, he is summoned to New Orleans and meets Maddox. Maddox is half human, half angel who was visiting his twin in human world. Both are hit by the same curse, and while still looking to return their homes, there is an undeniable attraction between the two. Will they be able to figure a way to be together? Will they survive the wrath of evilness that follows them? It’s romantic suspense with a paranormal twist! Narrated by the talents of Shane East and Greg Bordeaux, it’s so easy to get lost in this novella!

Wicked Omens
Cursed Coven, Book 5
By: Patricia D. Eddy, Midnight Coven
Narrated by: Shane East, Greg Boudreaux
I loved everything about this book, from Patricia D. Eddy’s wonderful writing style to the interesting & imaginative storylines and characters she created to Shane East and Greg Boudreaux’s fantastic narration. This book is a stand-alone in the “Curse Coven” series. In addition to the witches there are other supernatural beings, which gave the story and the characters even more depth. Killian is a witch who has had a tragic past, he does not trust his own magic or power and wears a band to suppress it. He has been living a reclusive life and is not sure who or why he was summoned and transported to New Orleans. The coven in New Orleans is having a gathering for Samhain night under the Harvest Moon and witches from all over are attending. Azrael sends Maddox Calder, an angel living in the celestial realm to Earth to retrieve an item in the witch’s coven house, it is property they should not have. He is successful in retrieving it but as he is leaving all hell breaks loose, one of the witches cast a powerful spell on everyone, it sent him into a daze and then he found himself severely injured. Killian is also injured and the band suppressing his magic is gone, not wanting his magic to go astray he flees and comes upon the injured Maddox who asks for help but Killian says he has to go, that it is for his own good. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is so well plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, action, thrilling & suspenseful moments, heartfelt ones and a great paranormal romance. Patricia D. Eddy, thank you for this amazing story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Shane East and Greg Boudreaux are fantastic narrators and voice artists. They did an amazing job portraying the characters and bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters emotions and project into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank your for this great listen
Sometimes, the impossible is not impossible. Maddox on a quest trying to redeem his brother Sinclair travels to New Orleans to retrieve a vial for Azrael, the Angel of Death. Killian, living in self-imposed isolation after causing the death of Oliver, his vampire love interest is invited to a Ball in New Orleans and transported almost before he can finish reading the invitation. There he meets Maddox, by chance and saves him. Maddox had been cursed and left helpless. They develop a friendship then a relatinship while trying to complete their individual missions. Do they have time to realize they are a good match? Will their individual realms let them be together? Can they handle the adventures and quests that befall them with their challenged powers. Nice story. My first book of the cursed coven. I look forward to reading more. Well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
Love, loss and redemption what more could you want! Both Maddox and Killian come together after a curse is unleashed and Maddox almost dies and that leads them to confronting their pasts. I just loved the vulnerability but strength they both had and you just wanted things to work out for them, there are characters you will hate ie Jezebel and Delphine and those you will love ie Mist and Frank bless his cotton socks!
Wicked Omens is book five in the Cursed Coven series by Patricia D. Eddy. This is a series of novellas written by all different authors. Each can be read as a stand alone!
Killian Wade is a very powerful, rare male witch. The problem is, Killian can’t control his power. Ten years ago he caused the death of a man he was falling for. It was an accident but one he has never forgiven himself for. Killian has been summoned to New Orleans on Samhain night when the covens gather under a Harvest Moon. He has no choice but to accept.
Maddox Calder is half angel, half human and lives in the Celestial Realm. He misses his twin brother who has been banished to live among the humans on earth so he gladly takes a mission to travel to New Orleans to retrieve something that was taken from the angels by the witches. But before he can escape, he is hit with a curse that leaves him confused and causes him to run out in front of an oncoming car.
Killian was also hit by the curse but in his haste to escape, he sees the most beautiful man he has ever seen lying injured in the street. He can’t just leave him there.
Killian and Maddox are brought together by dreadful circumstances but immediately feel connected in a way neither of them can deny. But with evil witches after them, as well as Maddox’s home being on the Celestial Realm, is there any way for them to be together?
This is a short, sexy, fast paced M/M romance that I did enjoy! These two needed each other, were obviously meant to be together, but circumstances definitely were against them.
This author is one that I can usually count on to really draw me into a story and while I loved Maddox and Killian I wasn’t as enamored of the story as I would have liked.
Maddox is an angel but for him things aren’t strictly black and white he can color outside the lines. Killian is a male witch who is unable to control his magic especially when stressed and being cursed is not helping him to maintain his cool.
Through a series of events these two cross paths and sparks fly despite all of the magical insanity that’s happening around them. Both of them lead a bit of a tortured life for different reasons and it was great watching them leave parts of their past behind them and gain new strength within themselves and from each other.
Their chemistry is what kept my interest throughout the story and it’s smoking hot. The plot had too much flash and not enough explanations or establishing to make it as strong as it could be. A little more backstory refresher for those that haven’t read the other books may have helped the situation I think.

This M/M paranormal romance novella is part of the Cursed Coven Series. Maddox and Killian’s story is well written, and captivating. They share an instant attraction and a sizzling and beautiful chemistry. This story has demons, witches and angels. The storyline is fast-paced, and action packed. Greg Boudreaux and Shane East did a great job with the narration. I enjoyed it. (updated with audiobook review)
Ohhhhh I just loved this story! It winds around you as you read until you don’t realise just how sucked in you are. I love the rules of the world it is set in and the way that those rules unfold throughout the book. It’s written with a light touch and beautiful filled out characters and I loved watching them work things out, both what is going on between them and around them. The steam works very well indeed, so beautifully written. I really hope to hear much more from these characters as I thoroughly enjoyed them so much.
Well this is my first male/male book and as I am a huge fan of Patricia’s I decided to give it a go and I was thoroughly delighted with it. It is part of the Cursed Coven series a multi author series all set in the same world.
Killian is a witch who blames himself for the loss of his boyfriend and doesn’t trust his own magic. He is sent to a coven in New Orleans where he is cursed (this is the common thread through this entire series). Also there is Maddox a half-human/half-angel he has been sent to steal a vial back that was stolen from the celestial realm. If he completes this mission his brother will have his banishment reduced. He is also cursed and injured at the coven meeting. When Killian rescues Maddox he has no idea what he has started These two are perfect together Both damaged both needing redemption Will they give each other the peace they both seek
Dark magic, evil curses, hatred, revenge, atonement, redemption, desire and love. Patricia Eddy weaves all these elements into a mesmerizing tale of the unlikely pairing of a witch and an angel. Killian & Maddox are thrown together by a curse so dark that neither of them may survive. Yet, together they find acceptance, peace and love.
Loved reading Killian’s story and how an Angel was involved too. We get mentions from one of the other stories too and I love recognizing other characters. Killian and Maddox saved each other. I only wish there would have been an epilogue to see more of them in the future.

This story opens with a damaged witch trying to do magic – while his familiar laughs at him. I think it’s the progression from that fragile man to the strong, capable witch of the end of the book that makes this such a great read. Killian is consumed by guilt and self-doubt but finds himself summonsed to New Orleans on Samhain night – and then cursed and imprisoned. Maddox is a half-human/half-angel who is determined to reduce his brother’s banishment – and he too is in New Orleans that night to steal something from the witches there. Cursed too, he is rescued by Killian, and this starts one of the most awesome (I am in awe!) love stories in this series. If anything, this story is too short – I wanted more! As always, Patricia Eddy has written characters that are alive and a story that won’t let you go.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Absolutely adored this story of Maddox and Killian. Killian is a witch but he is so powerful he has a hard tome controlling his magic and it cost him dearly. His past is tragic and heartbreaking, but he gets summoned to New Orleans where he saves Maddox an angel’s life. Maddox goes to New Orleans to retrieve something celestial that was stolen but witches because if he can does this task he may help redeem his brother but what happens instead is he is cursed and almost killed. These two had an instant connection and I loved them together. This is a short story about letting go of the past and finding love in unsuspected places.
Very captivating story, fast-paced, full of interesting characters with great personalities, strong chemistry and overall thoroughly enjoyable. Not a genre I would jump into but was pleasantly surprised at how much I connected with it. I have received an ARC and express my sincere opinion.
