Follow the journey of a strong, independent, yet caring woman as she navigates the supernatural world she is thrust into. Gwen steps out of a dysfunctional family life and into a world filled with danger she never realized lives at every turn, fiery passion, and a love that is ever binding. How will she handle her strange new surroundings as well as the man with the intense and overbearing … personality who threatens to destroy the emotional barriers around her heart?
Wicked, the next in line to become the vampire king, is caught off guard when he grudgingly agrees to take on a charge, something he never wanted to do. He is unsure how to handle the fierce and vibrant woman with the unsettling green eyes. It doesn’t take long for them to clash, but will it end passionately or burn down around them?

This is a new to me author, and well looks like a newer author as well. When I started reading this I was a little concerned cause the romance between Wicked and Gwen seems a bit face paced, but the story seemed a bit slow, but it evens out fairly quick. Then there is Kayden too, I was trying to figure out where he fit in, but realized after a bit this was either a weird love triangle or an RH. But if you read the description for book two, well RH then. So the story has some really interesting twists and some unique plot lines. I really enjoyed it, I’m looking forward to seeing where she is going with it, finding out who all is going to be in Gwen’s harem, and just figuring out what the deal is exactly with the wraiths. All in all, it turned out pretty fantastic in the end and I’m excited for book 2.
I enjoyed this paranormal story. This is my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more from her in the future. This is a well developed story that has characters that bring the story to life. It is an engaging and fun to read story that has twists and turns that left me sitting on the edge of my seat. This is a story about a woman who has just found out that her real father is a vampire. Then you have Wicked, he takes this strong woman on as a charge but the problem is they bang heads. What happens next I highly suggest reading to find out. The characters are connectable and made the story realistic. I really enjoyed them and they made the story for me. I highly recommend this book.
Gwen was known to be the spoiled rich girl. However, in reality, weren’t all that great. She was neglected and treated like a dirty secret. As it turns out, she is what they call a halfling-half vampire, half human. The next in line for the Vampire King in training comes along to transport her to another location (as per request by her high ranking father) and train her for the “change”. They had an instant connection.
This is my first story by Evi Rhodes. Overall, the story was amazing. It was so detailed and action packed. I instantly fell in love with Wicked. Gwen, it took me a bit to warm up to her. At first, she was a bit immature and stubborn, and I thought she was waaaay younger than 26. However, she grew stronger and more likable.
Honestly, I thought this was setting up as an Reverse Harem read (and it would have made an amazing one too) however, that was not the case. I’ve never read a book both written in the 1st tense and 3rd tense. It was a bit odd for me, but I eventually caught on.

WICKED NIGHT by Evi Rhodes
Forget everything you thought you knew about vampires.
EVI has managed to bring a new life and new world to the vampire race in this story.
I have to admit, this is the first vanpire romance I have read since Twilight way back when. But I devoured this story from start to finish.
The story follows Gwen, a half human / half vampire on her transition to change into a vampire.
She is placed under the guardianship of Wicked, the next in line for King of their vampire underworld!
Wicked and Gwen steam things up a bit throughout the story as their love grows and their attraction burns strong.
*WARNING* contains adult situations
I enjoyed this book. I was confused with the abrupt switching or point of views at times. This story is very descriptive of pretty much everything, which is what makes it so long. I think it’s a great start to what may be a very long series, because this left MANY unanswered questions. This first book, I think, is an intro to the characters, their world, the setting, the bad guys, the good guys, and a good picture of what’s happening. Vampires are not usually paranormal beings that I read about, but this was worth it.

Wicked Night by Evi Rhodes is the first book in the Warrior’s Promise series. At first, it was very hard to get into. I can’t tell you exactly why, but it didn’t keep my attention. I understand that it is the first in series and that we get more of the story as a result but, it took me some time to get this one going.
After taking a break I went back to reading it and I found that I was wrong, it could have just been my mood at the time. The story picked.up and the writing seemed to flow easier as the pages went by. The connection between the characters also grew stronger.
Gwen is thrown into a supernatural world and even being the firecracker woman she is, it takes an emotional toll (and sometimes seems immature) learning curve.
Wicked is next to be the vampire king and has his own path to follow but when Gwen is before him, will things take a turn for the better or worse?
One of the things I enjoyed about this story was the action. It was more so than other books I have been reading lately. This story has just the right amount of action in it and made it truly satisfying.
Wicked is his name. He watched her from the dark, barely able to control himself.
Gwen saw him approach from the dark, tall, heavily armed and looking like the warrior he is.
At first I had trouble figuring out who was talking, him or her. It took a moment to catch the shift.
How she becomes a vampire is a bit different and so are these vampires. I am always on the lookout for an author that represents them in a new to me light. They are accepted as part of the human world.
When I heard Gwen say, “Well, hurray for me. Don’t I feel special?”, I knew I was going to love this character. LOL I love her sarcastic wit. She is a Halfling, half vampire and half human.
We have other supernatural characters visiting and, in my book, we can never have too many.
Have you ever felt like…one minute I was attracted to him and wanted him to kiss me and the next I wanted to punch him in the face and watch him bleed.
As Gwen sits at his beside, tears rolling down her face, I came close to crying with her. I love a story that evokes emotions.
He met his match in her, but will she be his mate? In the supernatural world, love and romance is on a different timeline and I love to go with it, letting the author take me where they will.
Kayden…I laughed and worried about him. He is a great warrior, but, deep in his soul, who is he really?
Great and a bit gory fight scenes and sweet lovin’. This is not erotica, but I highly recommend it for adults only. The sex scenes are more sweet and loving than erotic.
As I saw the end coming, I knew what would happen, with 500 pages left, I was racing through the pages as I see the story undold right before my eyes. I worry so much more for Kayden than I do for Gwen and Wicked. After all, they are the stars of the show and can’t be killed off…can they?
Whew…no cliffhanger, unless you count the tease, which did its job and hooked me. I have to know more and this is one of those series that I want to read to the very end.
I am hooked on the characters, the vampire warriors, and Evi’s ability to spin a tale that captured me totally, completely. I was afraid I would have to wait for the next book in the series, but, no worries. It has been written. The only problem I see is there is no Kindle version available. Hey, Evi, help a girl out, please. I have to know more!!!!!!!

Gwen grew up in the lap of cold luxury, with a dog being her only friend. Turns out her mother had an affair with the king of vampires and got pregnant with Gwen, so when the time of Gwen’s Change approached, Mom contacted Dad to come get his daughter. King Gabriel was in the middle of some delicate negotiations in Europe with the lycan clans so he sent his heir Wicked to fetch Gwen to a collegiate safehold–and become her mentor. Gwen needs to learn vampire life quickly in order to survive her Change, but her temper and her mouth get her in trouble with the local vampire crowd–especially Ice, who has designs on Wicked. Problem is, Wicked and Gwen have an undeniable attraction that’s taboo according to vampire law.
There were some things I really liked about this book, and some things I really didn’t like. The chemistry between Gwen and Wicked is super-hot, and the world was well thought out, complex, and solid. The vampire culture felt like a real society. Some of the secondary characters were absolutely stellar, especially Gwen’s flamboyant best friend Craze (I adored him!) and Wicked’s brother Hauk. The vampire war against the evil wraiths is interesting and adds a lot of heightened tension–it’s bad enough that the vampires ended their war with the lycans and are enlisting them as allies against the wraith. The action scenes were very well done.
Gwen got better as the book went on, but she started out as rather immature and caustic. Wicked I mostly liked, but there were some moments when his use of power crossed the line into abuse–never a good thing for a romantic hero. Ice was overwriiten and was very cliche and over-the-top. There were two instances of POV shifts into characters who were NOT Gwen and Wicked, which made no sense to me as to why they were they–it felt random and pointless. And the editing could have been tighter–there were a lot of typos, punctuation errors, and formatting issues (like several instances of what s/h/b multiple paragraphs all smashed together into one huge rambling one). And the book ended abruptly.
Overall, there was enough to keep me reading to the end.
