Rand Bishop’s dreams of Olympic gold were shattered years ago but he’s left that all behind, settling into a new career and lifestyle that would make any man jealous. With nothing but her body to peddle, Catherine is merely trying to figure out how to survive in a harsh, cruel world. Love the Wicked Series!
I loved the two characters in this story and the romance was amazing. Sawyer Bennett knows how to write a great love story, with each of the main characters telling the story from their perspective. The sex in the story is hot, too! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
This is book three in a series about a club in Wyoming that will meet your every fantasy. In my opinion, you could read each of these as stand alones, but I don’t think that you would get the full effect of what went on before the book. This book is about Rand and Cat. These people are so far removed from my life and activities that it’s like a train wreck in that you can’t look away. You are intrigued. These people are so unaffected by all of the sexual activities going on. They just do it for fun. They don’t care that their partner has been with numerous other people.(Well until feelings get involved, and then it’s not enough to hold them back sometimes.) That is hard for me to understand, but Sawyer Bennett delivers a knock out story that pulls me in. This book is not just about a sex club. There is an awesome storyline as well. You will understand how Cat came to Wyoming. You will fall in love with Rand and the way that he protects Cat. If you don’t like some steamy sex scenes some of which are with multiple partners, then this book isn’t for you. I needed a fan and a hose to cool me down from some of these scenes. Whew!!!! Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.
(3.75 stars)
I love this series but I can’t lie when I say the very first thing I did was jump to…..the epilogue to see if Bridger’s book was next
Rand is not a bashful man, “the sooner we eat, the sooner I can eff you,” I tell her in a matter-of-fact manner.” I really get into these books, therefor I don’t make many notes I loved Rand, he was such a good man, all these men are good but Rand for me takes the cake.
** spoiler alert ** I binge read all three Wicked books over the weekend and I could not stop.
Cat and Rand though, have to be my favorite WH characters thus far. Sawyer really seemed to be in her element during this story. I was lucky enough to end up with an ARC of Wicked Need and let me tell you, I am sad that I did not start the series until this weekend, yet at the same time I am glad I did so that I could read all three books back-to-back. Because now I have to wait for Logan and I don’t want to have to do that.
Catherine (Cat) is down on her luck after her *bleep* husband passes away and his *bleeeeeeeping* son, Kevin, screws her over. She has this love/hate relationship with the Wicked Horse and has history with Rand and a handful of others. Yet Rand has always stood out to her. I can say I understand why – handsome, blessed below the belt, funny, and a very “oral” man. What isn’t there to love about him? She ends up staying with Rand when he finds her sleeping in her car outside the WH and his “White Knight Tendencies” kick in. Thus begins their friendship.
Rand has a history all to himself. Former Olympic Skier, say what?!? No wonder he has an amazing body and is such a hard worker, even when he doesn’t need to be. Rand has a little something that every man should strive to have; and I am just not talking about his kinky side. Though, with what happens with Logan and Cat (excuse me while I take a cold shower and jump my man because that did nothing to cool me off) I was absolutely indulged in my dirty reading need. Rand really goes above and beyond for Cat on more than one occasion.
This book had me panting, tearing up, gripping the edge of my seat, laughing, and just plain blissful. This is everything you could want in a book and Sawyer sure as heck delivered.
The WICKED HORSE series continues with all its “kinky f*ckery”. *wink*. “I’ve got friends, a great job, and all the kinky f*ckery I could ever imagine.” –Rand. Of course, the series may revolve around all the benefits of one giving and receiving all the pleasure they could possibly need, but just like the first 2 books in the series (WICKED FALL & WICKED LUST), sometimes that isn’t enough and someone comes along to spin your world off its axis.
Summary: WICKED NEED is about two secondary characters that returning readers of this series have previously met and became curious about: Rand Bishop and Catherine “Cat” Vaughn. We didn’t know much about these characters other than the fact that they frequented at “The Silo” (a sex club attached to The Wicked Horse). Rand is actually a “fantasy maker”/employee there and Cat is a member…they have also partaken in each other’s fantasies, but it never went beyond The Silo. Now, Cat finds herself widowed, homeless, alone and basically penniless. Rand sees a “damsel in distress” and comes to her rescue, immediately offering his help. He offers her shelter, food and any help he can give until she “finds her feet” again. The “white knight” complex begins to drift after Rand and Cat spend more and more time together outside of The Silo. Both begin to develop obvious feelings for each other, but both have their own hang ups they have to get past in order to be willing to fully commit to a lasting relationship. Will they be able to move past those hang ups or will one or both of them sabotage the potential they have for a future together?
I appreciate that Sawyer Bennett is able to keep each book in this series completely different and unique even though they all center around a common aspect: The Wicked Horse/The Silo (see description of the Silo below). WICKED NEED was moderately removed from that aspect in general and instead of just focusing on the connection these two characters have to that particular aspect and revolving everything around that, it was more focused on how these two characters grew to function OUTSIDE of that “world”. Like I said above, we met both these characters in WICKED FALL (The Wicked Horse #1) through The Silo, so to be able to see them “removed” from it, was kind of refreshing. “It’s fascinating to me that you’ve had this whole other life outside The Silo,” she says almost in awe. “You just never think about the people you come in contact with there outside of that building.” –Cat.
Description of The Silo:
“The Silo is about fantasy, not reality. It’s easy to leave your real life at the door.”
“It’s about people making free choices to get their rocks off in an environment with like-minded people. It’s about s*x with no strings or expectations, and pleasure as the only end goal.”
“It’s a round concrete building with a white-domed top that looks just like an authentic silo. It sits just off the back of Bridger’s nightclub, The Wicked Horse.”
“It’s a s*x club and all kinds of kinky, nasty, sexy stuff goes on inside this place. It’s a no-holds-barred type of club and anything goes as long as it’s consensual.”
I loved the insta-chemistry between Rand and Cat. It was obvious from the beginning that they had potential for more and it became apparent that they both had their own issues that they had to handle on their own. Rand was struggling with his growing feelings that seemed to intensify with each passing day. “I seem to fall more for Cat each day…hell each moment we’re together…and I can’t seem to figure out if these feelings are real or fanned perhaps brighter by an unexpressed desire to be a hero to her.” –Rand. Cat is struggling with presumed inadequacy. “Rand deserves way better than me.” –Cat. She has never experienced love, so she has no reference to go off of. She doesn’t know what it looks like, let alone if she is able to give it. These two came together in the most unconventional of ways, but it totally worked in their favor. It was fun reading their characters develop throughout the book and learn how to navigate this new relationship.
The reason I am giving this book 4 stars….my own personal dislike was the “hero complex” that Rand had. That kind of lessened my “need” for him. I thought he was a little bit of a softer character and I would’ve liked to have seen Cat with a slightly stronger male lead. I just felt like the whole “white knight” aspect took away from the story to a degree. Half the time he didn’t know if he was falling for her or if it was just his “save the damsel” complex that needed stroking, in a sense. Other than that slight PERSONAL hang up, I loved this book and would recommend it to any fans of this series! It was well worth my time.
And, in true Sawyer Bennett fashion, she leaves us with a teaser! The Epilogue was yet again a prelude to the next book…which will be about LOGAN, Rand’s “partner in crime” at The Silo!!! Sawyer hinted at Logan’s back story and personality a little in WICKED NEED and we got more of a “taste” of who he is, so to read that he will be getting the next book in the series makes me VERY happy! I will be patiently (not so patiently) waiting for it to come in September!
4 wicked stars!
