It is no secret that I am a massive fan of all things K Webster and I’ve read nearly every book she’s ever written (which is a LOT), and Wicked Lies Boys Tell is no exception to my love of her words. I am also an impassioned MM fan, so whenever K writes a gay romance, I am almost instantly in love. The chemistry between these two was off the charts and while it was a bully romance in the beginning, it didn’t breach the point of no return cruelty between the two. I absolutely adore it!
Penn and Copeland grew up together as friends until one drunken night and too much alcohol pulled them apart. They are together again at eighteen and more mature about their desires and who they are meant to be in the future. I loved the angst, coming of age and accepting who you are in their relationship. This is a great m/m new adult coming of age story.
**5 Stars***
Sweet, smexy, heartbreaking and heartwarming.
This baby had it all, not that I’m at all surprised as this particular author is one that I #fangirl over no matter the genre she tackles, but it’s still something that needs to be stated because Wicked Lies Boys Tell definitely left me wanting to spend a lot more time, not only with Penn and Copeland, but with few others who played key roles in their journey.
Penn and Copeland. These two made my heart all kinds of happy. Both are living in their own forms of purgatory and dealing with way more than anyone ~ other themselves ~ could ever imagine. I’ll admit that I did tend to be more of a #TeamPenn girl, but once their relationship shifted, the catalyst a most interesting one, they ended up on even ground for me. Both are good men, with good hearts and I loved how they balanced each other out, even if it meant antagonizing the other for a bit. As for their journey to their HEA, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was harsh and at times heartbreaking, but it was real and I loved watching as they both found the happiness they always deserved.
I’m not too sure what else to say about this baby. It really was just that good. This is a contemporary romance, it is MM and there are triggers, but it isn’t dark in any way and while there is one character I’m very happy got a happy ending along with Penn and Cope, there is one, who ended up surprising me, that I am crossing my toes that may get an HEA of their own one day.

K Webster ruled me with this book. Heart, Body, and soul. Wicked Lies Boys Tell is intense. The words in these pages are an accelerant to the spark inside the readers heart. Pen and Cope, two tornadoes crashing around cause destruction that can’t easily be fixed. Rage and betrayal hangs in the air. But they didn’t count on the tornado causing a gas leak, they didn’t see the fireball of lust coming. They had no idea the suffocating smoke (their fathers) would try to extinguish all.
I hashtagged Pen and Cope before I knew it was a thing. I fought tears and fears with these boys. I reached out to pick them up when they couldn’t. I gave them a piece of my heart even though they didn’t ask for it. Wicked Lies Boys Tell is a battering ram for the walls around your heart. They will blast through (these two tornadoes) the walls and turn you into rubble. They will stand there as they are. No bullsh!t, no pretense, raw and real. Take them and love them because you will never be able to leave them!
Teddy and Jacob are unsung heroes in this story. The depth of their words and the sentiments backing them up make it an incredible experience. They bring these boys to life, show us love, and give us an unforgettable affair!
4.5
When I heard K was coming out with a new – book, I was SO . Like, legit #ϝαɳɠιɾʅ excited. This author is one of my , but I’ll admit I just нαveɴ’т loved all the novellas and co-written books she has been lately. I really think she is at her when she is writing stories. Needless to say, my for this one was sky high. So did it live up to those …YES!
So this one ended up being a lot sweeter than I thought it would be. I think that is the only ŃĨĞĞĹĔ I had with it. I would have liked more to the two years between the and the start of this book. It would have added an of angst and heartache to see how treated during that time. Although the romance isn’t “insta” regarding how many ɎɆ₳₴ have passed, it IS very much íղՏԵɑ-Ӏօѵҽ within the book. That said, that was just a and didn’t lessen my of the story. As with most of K’s books, the writing was fαntαstíc. It was ƤƛƇЄƊ well. The plot was . Smokin’ h҉o҉t҉. Sexy. It had a few secondary characters. Both and were sweet. ķίşşάвĻέ. I loved these two guys together. They had SO much between them. So much love. Last, it was all wrapped up in a beautiful .
“Immerse your soul in love”
Omg this was one hot and fantastic M/M story from this author. I believe there’s not anything she couldn’t write that wouldn’t turn out amazing.
Cope and Penn are your average jock’s who had grown up together doing everything together as best friend’s did until one day one of them started having deeper feeling’s for the other and decided to act on them and it ended up costing him his best friend. In order to get his best friend back could he suppress his feeling’s and deny himself the love he deserves? You’ll just have to pick up this lil jewel and find out for yourself. This book was so good.

Ebook and Audio Reviews
Wicked Lies Boys Tell by K Webster is a Standalone, GFY, Slow Burn, MM, New Adult , Friends to Enemies to Lovers Romance about two 18 years old in their last year of HS.
An angsty , emotionally charged, smutty and fast paced tale about self discovery and self acceptance. About family, the one we born into and the one we create. About love, friendship and being true to oneself.
Penn and Cope , the main characters, have been best friends , almost brothers, since they were toddlers . But one night when they’re 16 , a kiss , changed everything… then they weren’t anymore. Now two long years after, they are still trying to exist with the loneliness , the emptiness , the apathy of not being in each other lives.
So, when an act of chivalry, a drunken fist fight, a broken hand and a make out session with a potential BF in a movie theater bathroom brings the two ex best friends back together ; opening their eyes to their truth and lies, Penn and Cope will do and say everything to be together .
Did I mention this audio is sultry? Well, just the UST , the anticipation, the heated looks these two MC put us through is enough to burn a forest. And when they finally get together, watch out and have a fire extinguisher near by , it gets hot AF. You have been warned.
I am utterly , ridiculously ; am talking – Cuckoo for Cocoa Puff – crazy about Cope and Penn the adorable heroes of this story and one of the reasons is because Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan brought them to LIFE with their spectacular chemistry and narration.
I was entertained listening/reading to this intense and romantic love story.
Knowing K Webster is new to the MM ; she did well. I hope , she gives us more stories in this genre.
I adored this book even more on my second listen! Penn & Cope are everything. Loved their enemies/friends to lovers, gay for you story! And as always, the kings of narration – Teddy Hamilton & Jacob Morgan were amazing!
I was really hoping to love this book. I miss my MM romance. Penn and Cope seemed like they were going to be really interesting characters. It just fell flat. Don’t get me wrong, this one is very hot, but that’s all it was. I wanted more depth for these boys and I feel like it only scratched the surface and were one dimensional. The drama took up most of the story and drove the relationship. Just didn’t do it for me.
This was so much more than I expected it to be. Loved it!
Wicked Lies Boys Tell is filled with new adult angst, discovery, acceptance, love and finally a happily ever after!

Penn McAlister and Copeland Justice have been best friends. They were neighbors who had grown up as brothers. However, one drunk night, one mistake and they haven’t spoken for two years. Penn has been in love with Copeland for years, and at 16, after he had a few drinks, he made a rash decision and kissed his best friend, Copeland. Needless to say, things didn’t go well. That was the kiss of death to their friendship for two years.
Now, two years later, Penn still feels the hatred, anger, and animosity rolling off Copeland, and it is destroying him day by day. He is in love with someone who can’t stand him. That is until Penn gets into a drunken fight protecting his friend Leah and Copeland comes to his rescue. Copeland and Penn slowly work to become friends again, working towards forgiveness, both needing their best friend back, one needing more…or do they both need more?
Things have been tough for both of these young men. Their fathers are horrendous, Penn’s father being the worst of the two. Penn is under tremendous pressure to be the perfect son, marry the perfect girl, be the best football player, go to the best college…and NEVER embarrass his father.
This story is filled with twists, turns, and lies. Penn has always known who he is, but will Copeland ever figure out who he is or what he wants? My favorite quote from the book:
“We’re Penn and Cope. Best fucking friends. Like always. Two tornadoes. But instead of bouncing off each other and wreaking havoc alongside the other, we’ve become one. Unstoppable.”
Penn and Copeland are two tornadoes and once they figure themselves out…they are unstoppable, but that journey will not be easy and will be filled with hurt, lies, and pain.
I loved Penn and Copeland’s story and once again K Webster has shown me why she has become one of my favorite authors! This gets all my recommendations!
K. Webster is a fairly new author to me. I understand she writes mainly M/F and that’s just no longer my cup of tea. But I did read her book Hood River Rat and it was good, so I kept on the lookout for her.
Wicked Lies Boys Tell is my second read by her and though it was on another level of hotness, it still had an amount of drama that I start to recognize as her writing signature.
In this book we meet Penn and Copeland. They have been neighbors and best friends from the day they met. Until one night Penn ruined it all by kissing Copeland. Penn has been in love with Cope since he was about 10 years old, but Cope is straight, and when Penn kissed him, he was so disgusted, that he ended their friendship. Penn was devastated, missing his best friend, needing him. His father is abusive and he misses Cope to be there for him to comfort him, like he always did.
They both miss their friend, but Cope doesn’t want to admit, and Penn is hurt and scared Cope won’t ever let him come near him again, not even to apologize. He’s afraid to admit he’s gay.
Until one night, two years later. Somehow they are able to pick up where they left off, hesitatingly at first, but their trust grows when days pass. And it grows into something more. Penn has a hard time admitting he is sexually attracted to his friend, making all kinds of excuses to touch him, lying all the time to himself, to Penn, to his (ex)girlfriend, to his father.
Their chemistry is undeniable, the sex extremely hot. They belonged together, they knew each other inside and out and there would never be anyone else. Their souls were one.
There was quite some drama in this story. It’s a highschool teenage story, so drama is to be expected. But at times I believed it to be a bit ott. The hot scenes made up for those times, though!
I enjoyed this book a lot. It’s well written, entertaining and both mc’s are very likable and well developed characters. I will surely read more of K. Webster’s M/M books!
Recommended.
So powerful! This is a young new adult story for most of the book but it’s still so powerful as these young men stand up for what they believe and what they want to formidable fathers.
LOVED the epilogue! Loved seeing them realize their dreams. Loved how Leah’s storyline was wrapped up also!! She was part of Cope and Penn’s journey so it was nice to hear about her happiness.
Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan are absolute fire. I very much enjoy every single one of their performances
Best Friends who eventually turn lovers, but not without turmoil and heartache and learning to lean on your love for one another more than anything else in the world.
I’d term this a coming of age, but these are high school seniors, although these boys grew up together and have been through everything. There is only a two year gap when they had a falling out. This story is so gripping, as two boys truly experience all their firsts together and they also experience a lot of lifes heartache and pain. They are their together to support one another. This is one of my favorite stories about friendship and falling in love.
Penn and Copeland have been friends since they were toddlers, but it all blew up when Penn kissed Cope two years ago. Cope is straight and has a girlfriend, but losing his best friend has also left a hole in his life that has never been replaced.
When Penn needs help and Cope steps up after being absent for two years, he doesn’t push him away. He knew he messed up with that kiss, but he can’t help the way he feels and he misses his friend most of all.
Penn and Copeland have an amazing connection and their vulnerability to one another is raw and beautiful. Their chemistry is also off the charts, but it’s also beautiful to watch them grow into their new relationship together. Neither of them have been down this path and I really liked watching them discover their feelings and their emotions and first time experiences together.
This is really a great first time MM book to read if you are looking to dip your toe into this world. It’s sexy and beautiful all at the same time.
This is a juicy combination of teenage angst and delicious smut. So I get why this book has gotten such great ratings. It’s an engaging and emotional story.
But I might just be a bit too old and a bit too jaded to appreciate all the drama. Or the excessive horniness of 18-year old boys.
Simply put, Wicked Lies Boys Tell might be better suited for the young adult crowd.
So, Penn and Copeland (Cope for short) have been best friends since they were kids. But at 16, Penn went and ruined it all by kissing Cope. Now, two years later, they’re enemies. But Penn hasn’t stopped loving Copeland, even when it’s apparent that Cope hates him. But then a fight changes everything and Cope accepts Penn back in his life. And Cope appears to be ready for more even when claiming he’s not gay…
For young people I’m guessing this is a great story with lots of emotional ups and downs. There’s constant drama but it’s regularly interrupted for enthusiastic sucking, licking or f*cking. The build up to the final blow-out is awesome and there’s the entire spectrum of supporting characters, from good friends and adversaries becoming allies to the evil end-of-level monster. It’s like the author vacuumed an average High school for angst and then poured it into this book.
So that’s a five-star right there.
But… From my viewpoint – as an oldie – Wicked Lies Boys Tell was a bit over-the-top.
This story started out as a bully-romance (something I really dislike btw). Copeland is mean and cruel to Penn who just takes it as his due. He accepts whatever Copeland dishes out and counts himself lucky to garner the attention of his crush.
Then, when Penn gets hurt, Cope suddenly steps up and helps him. And suddenly they’re back to being besties again. Only with the twist consisting of Cope allowing Penn to touch him in all sorts of non-platonic ways while still expressing his disgust for him.
Yeah, that part really creeped me out.
That both their dads are pure evil doesn’t make the story more interesting in my eyes. In fact, Penn’s dad is so exaggeratedly demonic it tips the story over the edge from teenage angst-y to something from the Grimm fairytales – which obviously is impossible to take seriously. And to top it all off there’s the arranged marriage-thing.
And I just thought enough already!
Finally, all the hard-ons were just excessive. It might be true that a stiff breeze is enough to have a teenage male ready to go, but as an adult reader, all those stiffies got boring pretty fast.
There’s no question that it’s excellent writing on Webster’s part. However, this story wasn’t meant for me, or – I’m guessing – readers who have passed their twenties. As an oldie, I rate this as a three point fiver. But since I’d give it a 5 as a YA read, I’ll settle for an overall 4-star rating.

“I’m yours forever. I’ve always been yours.”
K. Webster out did her herself with this book! I love reading M/M books. And I felt she went above and beyond with this book!
O.M.G!
This book was seriously hot!!! I felt this book everywhere in my body!!! The fight, the push and pull Copeland & Penn did. The experimenting! Was seriously off the charts! I loved it!
I loved how it wasn’t so cut and dry with Copeland and Penn. I loved the struggle both boys had with their feelings toward each other.
Penn-
“I’m in love with my best friend. Lie. I’m in love with my enemy. Truth.”
