I’ve made a deal with the DevilFinally, I’ve found a place where my weirdness fits in—Guild City, a secret magical place deep in the heart of London. And it’s great… for about 2.5 seconds. Right up until the Council of Guilds discovers I’m a magical misfit with too much magic I can’t control. When they throw me in prison, my only hope is The Devil of Darkvale. A prophecy states that the lethally … states that the lethally sexy vampire is my Cursed Mate. Whatever that means. He’s so powerful that he can get the Council off my back, but he’ll only do it if I work for him.
I want to refuse, but I don’t have a choice. I agree on one condition—he trains me to control my magic so the Council won’t toss me in a dark cell to rot. He agrees, but as we work to solve a mystery from his deadly past, it becomes a question of whether or not we’ll even survive.

Fairly good story, a couple of neat twists. The book is well edited, so no irritating typos or misused words. The story just didn’t didn’t ‘grab’ me like it did some of the other reviewer, I’m not sure why as I normally really like this author. Read it yourself and decide! Luckily it’s on Kindle Unlimited.
Whenever I start a serie I definitely can’t stop reading it and this Serie is no exception. Linsey has a peculiar way to her writing always showing the perspective of the main characters, their point of view, which enriched the narrative. This second book brings the reader the richness of the scenary, and the well-built story. Let’s see what Linsey will bring next.
I am really enjoying this series. I hugely enjoy the characters as they feel grown up and that there’s a very distinct chemistry between them. The heroine might not be a warrior woman but she certainly is no coward and has just embraced this newly revealed magical world . Add in the Devil who is struggling with his new found humanity and this relationship is building up to be one that is a delight to read about. I particularly enjoyed the way this previously lonely character now has friends but of course there are also those quite not so taken by the Guilds newest resident but Carrow is a woman of many talents. What really helped me engage with this couple was the dual perspective and it was interesting to read how the Devil was feeling as well as Carrow
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
I’m loving following along as Grey and Carrow’s relationship develops in Linsey Hall’s Wicked Deal (Shadow Guild: The Rebel, Book 2), and Carrow’s abilities grow. Yes, there are all kinds of issues (as ably described in the publisher’s blurb) and some neat twists and turns, but that’s all part of the fun. And this book is indeed superbly fun – and superbly well written. I’m happy to highly recommend it.
Wicked Deal was great. I can’t wait to see what happens between Carrow and the Devil. Carrow is getting stronger and I’m curious to find out what she truly is. I hope we find out more of her backstory. The Devil being able to hear Carroll’s familiar is interesting. Is it because of the blood sharing? I can’t wait for the next book!
A suspicious Carrow didn’t know what to think about the Devil. She was not ready to trust but forced by circumstances she had to work with him. Interesting how Carrow’s character was evolving. I was intrigued by the Cursed Mates relationship and Carrow’s visions. Gray was a strong character with special powers and an empire under his command that makes him the ideal partner to help Carrow and unravel the mysteries that surround her. I liked this interesting, intriguing and entertaining story full of adventure, suspense, mysteries, threats, romance, passion and with all the characters with supernatural powers. Guild City’s new resident, Carrow Barton, was full of surprises.
Carrow is settling in to Guild City nicely. She really feels like she is fitting in. She is with Eve and Mac when the Devil comes calling. He wants to hire for a job. She decides she can’t risk being close to him, so she refuses. When he leaves the Council sent people for her. She has no choice but to go. They put her through tests, her magic is to powerful. They put her in jail, until they can decide what to do with her. Devil makes a deal with Council, he gets her out. He will help her control her magic, she will read the guy that he wanted.
She reads the guy and finds out this bigger than just petty theft. Someone is planning on blowing up Guild City. They only have three days to get the information they need to stop it. Carrow learns more about the Devil, she is still drawn to him. She just doesn’t realize he feels the same.
There is alot to this story that I didn’t write as I don’t want to spoil it. This book was beyond good. The author draws you in the story immediately. You will not stop reading until the last page is done and still want more. These characters are so good, love the dynamic between Carrow and Devil. Can’t wait to find out just what Cursed Mates mean for them.
I received an ARC copy of this book, this is my honest opinion
I’ve been a fan of this author for awhile, and I was eager to start this series. I thought the first book was the best yet, and after reading this second one, it continues the trend of being my favorite series. This one picks up pretty much where the second left off, but Carrow is asked by the Devil for some help. However, there is something deeper going on which she discovers in her investigation. I love Carrow as she’s such a strong character without coming across as being too strong. I love how her magic is changing and I can’t wait to find out what’s going on with her. Add in a very interesting love interest and some great friends and sidekicks, I’m looking forward to many more books. Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Carrow and Grey (The Devil of Darkvale) are Cursed Mates. Neither they nor I know what that means but it sounds interesting. The smoldering attraction between them is fantastic. The story around them is just another run of the mill end of the world scenario. Well, the end of Guild City at least. Overall, the story works well. The tension is good. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.
