Wicked Burn
The story I’ve waited for….Simone and Nick Simone is helping in Seattle with trying to figure out who is making and distributing Apollo with the intent of harming all witches and taking them out! The enforcers call in a back up to get her out of there and get her to safety, not realising that person is Nick.
Nick got a call from Fate, a century earlier, which resulted in him walking away from Simone. Now even though she’s still attracted to him, she rejects him at every turn. He’s had enough and he’s finally going to fight for what’s his….unfortunately he has to try defend her to the Coven Council first

When damaging evidence is compelled against Simone Brightston of treason, murder and other charges, she’s cornered by her cousins and Realm enforcers into accepting the help and protection of demon’s nation best strategist and right hand of the nation’s leader, Nick Veis.
Their past together is way complicated and tortuous, however, this doesn’t mean Nick won’t do whatever is in his reach to help Simone out of said charges. She’s always been in his heart and mind no matter how much time has passed.
On their own, they are fierce opponents but, together, they’re an unstoppable force to be reckoned with.
The minute they’re in the same room, sparks fly between them, they set fire to the surrounding areas and the bed sheets. Furthermore, when said enemy makes its move endangering Simone’s safety, Nick will do anything to keep her out of harm’s way. With the help of family, friends and enforcers, will Nick be able to save Simone? Will she save herself? Will they stand a chance?
This story got me hooked up from page one. I was truly looking forward to reading about this couple, whom we see dancing around each other in the previous books of the series. Rebecca managed to bring us once again the enforcers of the Realm, bringing some Dark protectors into the story and introducing us to new and amazing characters that make this one an addictive book, with action packed scenes, sexy moments, sweet ones too and shocking revelations. All in all, another amazing story in the Realm Enforcers series.
Just when I thought I found my favorite book in the series, I read the next one and it instantly becomes my new fave! This book had me up until 3:30 in the morning and I couldn’t put it down. Loved everything about it. Why haven’t I read this series sooner?
Although the books in this series (and really, all of Rebecca Zanetti’s books) aren’t marketed as humor and/or comedy, she always has me laughing. I swear, her alpha males and their feisty mates have me laughing out loud so often that my husband will ask if I’m reading another of “those vampire books”. (He calls them all that even though I tell him there are more than vampires in them.) My point is, even he knows it’s often her books that will have me laughing one minute and gasping in shock the next.
Once I realized, in previous books, that Simone had a history with Nick I could not wait to see how their story would unfold. I got all that I had hoped for, and more. This story takes so many twists and turns, it’s insane…in a good way. Nicholai and Simone have such a strong connection. Not only does their sexual chemistry leap off the page, they have a strong emotional connection that comes from years of loving one another (from afar). They slowly learn to trust each other again as this story progresses, but are they being totally open and honest even once that trust is reestablished?
Like I said, things get crazy. They mystery of the planekite is getting deeper, and I now have like three different hypotheses as to who is behind that evil. There are immortals we haven’t learned of until this book. We learn so much more about Bear and his connection to Simone. I can’t even tell you more without spoilers, but there is oh so much more. There are no two ways about it, this story is a must read.

3 1/2 stars
While I really liked Nick, I never really connected or cared about Simone. Even throughout the story I was only half interested in her, so it did made some of the book drag. But their relationship aside, there were some bombs dropped in the Dark Protectors/ Realm Enforcers world. Boy I didn’t see any of that coming.
Simone Brightston is being brought before the Coven for treason and Nicholai Veis is determined to do everything he can to save her. This is his chance to show Simone that he still loves her and he isn’t leaving this time.
This book was non-stop action and love! I loved these two. When we were first introduced to Simone I didn’t really like her but she definitely is one of my favorites now. She is such a badass witch who comes off as impenetrable but is really just afraid to open her heart again. Nick really sacrificed everything to save the demon nation and doesn’t expect to survive. When he does he realizes that now is the time to put his happiness first and get Simone back. I really love how emotional this book was. There was so much heartbreak and love between these two in some scenes I almost wanted to cry.
The next few books are going to be very interesting after that ending. I can’t wait to see how they deal with the Coven after this. I am also excited to see more of the new shifters. Also please give us Bear’s book! I need to see him fall in love.
I loved this book so much. Wicked Burn was totally epic and I think my brain fangirl short circuited. Between the Cliffhanger ending and the Novella Talen I think I lost it a little. Of Course anything with Talen in it has me losing it I love him so much! Anyways I have wanted to know Simone and Nick’s back story since book 3 of the Dark Protectors series so when I seen they would have their own book in the Realm Enforcers Series I was super excited. OMG but their story was amazing! Their book is officially my favorite of this series. The depth to their love story was so good. Plus I’m a sucker for a good second chance love story, and theirs was everything I love about that trope.
Simone was amazing. In Dage and Emma’s story I really didn’t like Simone. Then slowly as the DP series went on I started warming to her. In this book I had a girl crush on her. She was amazing. I totally understood the hateful mask she wears to protect her heart. Simone was strong, independent, and smart. She had a sweet soft side that she hid but it was there and it added to her depth. Nick was hands down the yummiest hero in this series. OMG Nick was perfect. So sexy, raw, protective, and….. and just perfect! Nick loved Simone. She was his mate and he had been ready to start his life with her a 100 years ago until Fate stepped in and asked more of him then he ever dreamed. Now 100 years later with the only woman he loved in danger Nick’s dark side comes out and let me just say he was a total bad warrior.
Nick and Simone had a sad back story. What Nick sacrificed for Fate. The pain him and Simone felt for 100 years. With the fear and broken trust it was easy to understand where both characters were coming from. For a little while Simone tried to hold Nick at arms length not wanting to let him in and chance her heart again. But their passion was too strong. They had amazing chemistry. That is one of the things I love about Rebecca Zanetti. She writes some of the most raw, animalistic, smokin’ hot sex scenes ever. And this book had plenty of hot, melt my kindle, sex in it. This book also had a good plot story and tons of kick butt action. I loved the cameos of Zane, Conn, Moira, and Brenna. I really liked Simone’s mom in this book where as I hated her in other books. I also really liked getting to know Bear more. What I didn’t like about this book the cliffhanger ending. Not because it was bad. It wasn’t it was good and left me wanting more. Nope it’s because the next book don’t come out til July 2017 and I’m so bad at waiting. Patience isn’t a virtue I possess.
I’ve wanted to know their story for quite a while now. And, wow, it was quite some story. Their past history was emotional, painful and made it easier to understand the “hate on” that Simone had about Nickolai. The hostility fairly crackled on the pages.
I really liked BOTH main characters and they both have lived through some tough times. They sure had a lot of people NOT wanting them together. That included things that had to happen; they called it fate. It wasn’t safe for them to be together for a long time.
There is plenty of sizzle in this book. Both in lots of action, mystery, betrayals and of course sex. There is also some really great secondary people. People who have both Nick and Simone’s backs against some pretty steep attacks. There is also more than one enemy trying to control and bring Simone down. Very well drawn, power hungry, down right evil guys. Oh Peter, you are so going down but it looks like not in this book. I didn’t trust that guy from the first time he was introduced. We don’t know all of his story but I’m sure that will be coming.
And where the heck is Tori? There are a lot of people asking that question in the book and there is an intense search for her.
There is a H.E.A. for now for the two main characters. But this is a series so there are several more things that have to be dealt with. I want to know how things are going to be concluded so I already have the next book lined up to read. I don’t feel disappointed though, because there were a LOT of secrets unveiled in this book. And they really needed to work on their communication when it came to rescuing each other. It was almost funny although it caused tremendous problems for them too.
Overall, another intense, edge of the seat book that I enjoyed. The world building was once again great.
