Bridger Payne is an enigma that no one can figure out. Wise beyond his years, eerily intuitive and sexy as hell, every woman in The Silo wants him.None can have him.Not the real man, anyway. He might wield the lash for you if you ask prettily, but he’ll get no gratification from it. He’ll definitely make you scream, but he won’t think twice about you when he walks away.Bridger carries the darkest … away.
Bridger carries the darkest of secrets. He’s filled with too much pain.
He’s utterly untouchable.
Until she came along.

Love the “Wicked Horse” series – hot, sexy alpha males, lots of hot sex – very erotic romance.
The anticipation for Bridger’s book was immense. I’ve wanted his book ever since Wicked Fall. I would get to the epilogue and be disappointed when it wasn’t his POV. In now way will I take this out on the author but I had his story built up in my mind as something totally different. At the end, overall I enjoyed the story and was extremely happy to see him get what he very much deserved. I loved every single character from this series, sad to see it end and glad they made appearances in this final book.
Bridger has got some stamina in him, the boy just can’t get enough of his girl, “I don’t even hesitate. “Want to get a second wind, and then I want to do that again. Then maybe we’ll grab some dinner, and then I definitely want to do it again after that.” I loved this book, I loved Bridger, he had a dark past but Maggie never gave up on the man.
Well I’ll be damned. I didn’t think I was going to get all emotional and cry, but Sawyer always surprises me.
This was the book in the series I didn’t even know I needed. Bridger’s history was heartbreaking and explained so much about his actions in the previous 4 books.
Mags was exactly who he needed, even if he didn’t think so. Her struggles and perseverance is something anyone would admire. Bridger? She just might be what he needs to help him overcome his.
“Because there’s no bigger mystery than Bridger Payne.” –Auralie.
Isn’t’ that the truth! I have been waiting patiently (not so patiently) for Bridger’s story and I FINALLY GOT IT! WICKED BOND is the continuation (and as far as I can tell, the final book) in the Wicked Horse series *tears*. At the end of WICKED RIDE (The Wicked Horse #4), we get a teeny tiny glimpse into this book. Sawyer Bennett sets more bait for us about Bridger by giving us the prologue for WICKED BOND. (She has been torturing me for 5 books now with snippets of his character and his perceived horrific past).
So at the end of WICKED RIDE, Bridger gets a knock on his door and in storms an acquaintance of his whom is carrying an unconscious woman in his arms. “Kyle Sommerville stands there, holding someone cradled in his arms. A woman. An unconscious woman by the looks of it.” –Bridger. Now this Kyle, he isn’t really a “friend” per say, Bridger only knows him because of Mayhem Mission, which is a biker club and has seen him do all sorts of nasty things within that club. For all he knew, Kyle was a bad*ss biker through and through. Bridger was under the impression that Kyle was a true member of that club, but now Kyle admits to him: “I’m ATF, and I’ve been deep undercover with Mayhem Mission for over three years now. I’ve been investigating illegal firearms, drugs, and a s*x-slave ring they’re running through all the clubs throughout the Midwest over to the West Coast.”. Kyle informs Bridger that he has to keep this woman (Maggie) hidden until he can complete his assignment and bring down Mayhem Mission. Kyle has no idea how long that’ll take, but the only thing he knows for certain, is if he didn’t get Maggie out of there THAT night, she was going to die. Bridger has no choice, but to take Maggie in and protect her from any potential harm. So that’s what he does. “I’ve taking on her worries because I know how hard it is to break free from a terrible situation. I know what it’s like to have no good option.” –Bridger.
And that’s exactly where WICKED BOND starts….Bridger has this beaten and unconscious woman in his house under his protection for an undetermined amount of time. He is used to structure and a stable, constant lifestyle and he needs that type of lifestyle in order to function, but this situation throws his carefully organized life into a tailspin and now he has to learn how to function with this new dilemma in his life. But he soon comes to recognize that Maggie is more than just a dilemma and after they spend weeks together and getting to know and opening up to each other, he realizes that he can relate to her situation and because of their similar experiences, he begins to connect with her on a deeper level. But even if there is a connection, Bridger won’t allow himself more than what he has in his life, he doesn’t see a “happily ever after” in his future. He only see’s “The Silo” as his only way of connecting, but even that is losing its allure as of lately. “I know she’s not a permanent fixture, and I know I can’t offer her a happily ever after, but I can give both of us a happily right now kind of existence.” –Bridger. But Maggie sees the potential in him to love and is trying to get him to see it as well. “Regardless, I am not giving up on him. The man has the potential inside of him, I just know it. He’s saved me, and now I want to do the same for him.” –Maggie. She also has to determine if she can be willing to share him with his lifestyle at “The Silo” and his dark past that he refuses to share with her. Can she live that kind of lifestyle and deal with the ramifications of his past? “Are his demons better controlled with the way he lives his life now, or can I chase them off? Does he really need The Silo the way he says he does, and if so, could I ever reconcile that fact? Could I share him with that lifestyle?” –Maggie.
In between all the angst of hiding away from Zeke and his Mayhem Mission biker club and the constant fear of being found, there’s a real potential relationship budding. These two have such parallel pasts and similar experiences that it is impossible for them to not connect on a deeper level in the middle of all this chaos. But will they be able to find their “happily ever after”? “I know there was something elusive I couldn’t quite put my finger on that factored into my attraction to Bridger besides his obvious good looks and s*xiness or the mere fact that he saved me from certain death. But now I know it’s because we share a past that includes something horrific that molded us into the people we are today.” –Maggie.
This book is about Redemption. Building trust. Forgiving yourself. Letting of the guilt and shame of your past. And most importantly, finding love amongst all the chaos.
I will admit, I was slightly worried I had too high of expectations for Bridger’s story because of all the buildup that Sawyer Bennett did for his character, BUT let me tell you…Sawyer Bennett did his story so much justice! She continued with creating his character in the tortured light that he’s been in for 4 books now. She “softened” his character just enough to make him swoon-worthy and lovable. Not that he wasn’t those things before, we readers just didn’t know enough about him to classify him in those categories. I also have to say, I loved that we got the story from his POV. That made him even more relatable. His inner dialogue and struggles were perfect for us readers to completely understand where his character was coming from. This strange and enigmatic character whom we’ve wondered about for 4 books, becomes this gentle yet commanding force, which is impossible to not fall in love with. Now I can say he is my favorite all around character in this series because of the developmental progress he made throughout the series.
I would recommend, if you have read the other books in this series, please do! You will not get the full effect of this character without reading the other books.
5+ stars!
