Wonderful read. All of Sarah’s books are!I really like Sarah McLean
I always love it when women in an age of repression utilize their strengths and inner self to control their world. That’s what happens in this delightful read. In 19th century London the underclass Bareknuckle Bastards seek revenge on a brother only to find that their plans go awry when the ‘spinster’ they chose for him is not quite what they had anticipated. Cleverly written and entertaining.
I loved it so much I have read the second book in this series and plan to read the third in the series when it comes out next month.
Start a new series with this wonderfully written, grabs-you-from-the-get-go story that had me enthralled. I fell for Devil, his twisted, hard past, his need for revenge – and love. Felicity was charming and daring and headstrong – a perfect match for her Devil. I could not put this down!
I love all of her books, haven’t read a bad one yet.
Predictable but a nice read to escape all of the sheltering @ home scenarios. Enjoy!
Love these characters. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Really good. Hope to read the next one in the series
I finished reading “Wicked and the Wallflower” (nook) early this morning. Sarah MacLean is an excellent author who wraps you up with her words and folds you into the story like a great big, warm hug.
I would rate this as 6 stars if I could.
Loved it! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
I’ve been looking forward to this series for the longest time, and finally got some spare time to read it (thank you quarantine). As I expected, Ms. MacLean has built a vibrant, romantic world full of sparkling characters, and she delivers on those HEAs, big time! I loved getting lost in this world, and this story was over far too soon for me…luckily, I’m on to book two next, and from what I’ve heard, I’m in for a treat!
I love a good regency romance and this one fits the bill.
Felicity is on the shelf she has alienated herself from her friends and has no prospects of marriage. When she meets a mysterious man at the ball she starts to feel things she didn’t dream possible. All she wants is love and the perfect marriage that’s not asking much is it?
Devil wants to take revenge on his brother the duke and doing so means getting Felicity to fall into his plans. She does more than change his plans the little lock pick has picked into his carefully locked heart.
This book was so good I have forgotten how good these books are. A little scandal a little love and some forbidden nights make this book one to read.
Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah MacLean is a lush, romantic novel. I was immediately drawn to the fascinating world she has created for her Bareknuckle Bastards. Felicity is a delightful heroine. Anyone would want her as a friend. As for Devil, he now sits comfortably on my “fave hero shelf.” I can’t wait to read the next story!
I loved this one as much as “Brazen & the Beast” — both are totally Keepers for me!!!!
This book was lovely! I enjoyed it so much. Devil and Felicity were a perfect match, and I loved being in the barenuckle bastard’s world. Sexy, witty, with great banter and a perfect match!
Love the characters in Sarah MacClean’s books! I root for the heroines and heroes and hiss at the villains! The endings make me wish for the next book she writes!
Loved the pairing of Felicity and Devil. This was actually the first MacLean book I read, and obviously, I’ll keep coming back for more.
Wicked and the Wallflower was the kind of book where you sit down to read for a few minutes before you go to bed, and the next thing you know it’s two hours later and you have to make yourself put it down. The dialogue is wonderful, filled with emotion and drama as well as wry comments, and it is what really propels the story. I also liked the fact that it had a different setting from most Regencies, taking place more in the slums of Regency London than in the drawing rooms.
I loved this book. Great story. I did buy it. I have read it a couple of times.
Can’t wait for the next book in this series.
