Holy Howdy is this a mind blowing what the hades is going on book. I couldn’t keep up with the twists and turns and cant wait to read book 2. I have absolutely no idea who the bad guy is in this one and cant wait to find out
This is a somewhat saucy suspense, thriller with various plot twists that will keep readers turning the pages to find out more. I read it in one sitting which is a sure sign that it got my attention. The sex scenes are pretty detailed and may have you getting a little hot around the collar!
The main character Gavin has many flaws but is super likable too. It ends with a clever cliffhanger which will no doubt have readers impatiently waiting for more. Bravo!
This had me intrigued from start to finish. I really enjoyed this book as it was well written and paced. Gavin and Lou are homicide detectives who are investigating a new serial killer who’s victims are appearing in Gavin’s dreams which seem to be related to him as well. As Gavin and Lou follow different leads, Gavin’s dreams keep getting stranger and even more confusing. Each character is well thought out and adds a special bit to the story. There are definitely a few plot-twist I didn’t expect which just hooks you more into the story. The plot is fascinating and my only problem is that at time is can be very hard to follow along. The dreams portions abruptly start which gives you whiplash at times and having to reread some parts. This ends with a cliffhanger which I’m not a huge fan of since you’re left wanting more. I’m looking forward to see what happens next
Wow! This book was crazy good! This is the story of homicide detective Gavin McLean. He is sleep deprived because he’s having nightmares about women being tortured. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat with the drama, mystery, thrills, suspense, and the twists, oh boy were there twists. It’s a phenomenally written story and I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a thrilling murder mystery.
This book was really great. I really enjoyed it even though it took me on a mind trip. I so can’t wait to find out what happens in the next book. Great job to the author.
This story is like a version of the movie “Identity” and tv show “Law and order- SVU” and then some! Gavin is a strong character that you can’t help but like and Lou is a perfect match to his personality. I was hooked from the start and couldn’t stop thinking about this story when I finished. There are so many twists and a crazy last few chapters!! I will definitely be reading more from this author!
My poor brain is now a twisted mess!! This was a flawlessly twisted book that had my mind hopping and zig zagging like a rabbit with each page. I need more!!
Ok I was really enjoying this story, then something happened in the story and it lost me. Gavin is a homicide detective and working a case that might be a serial killer. But he keeps having these dreams. He’s someone different and the “case” is still happening and he’s still trying to solve it. In one dream he’s a Judge and has 2 kids, in another one he’s a Dom and has a BDSM business. In the dreams stuff happens to him, he gets tattoos, he was handcuffed and in one he knocks out a tooth. Every time he wakes up he has the marks or tattoos from the dreams. I think I know what going on but I’ll have to read the next book to find out.
This story really took me on a journey with this storyline. This story really has a number of twists and turns throughout it creating an engaging read. The characters were great and I could not get enough of them. I really enjoyed the way that the author did their research for this story creating accurate descriptions of situations in the book. this a really enjoyable story that kept me on the edge of my seat.
One of the most unusual books I’ve read in awhile. The author writes a story that has you turned upside down, backwards, and being pulled left and right. I’ll be reading the next book to find out what happens next to Gavin and Lou, for sure!
I thought this was going to be a basic Thriller the same as others and that was where I was wrong. The story as a mix up of romance and the twists and turns that were not what I expected. The author hooks you in thinking that you know exactly where the book is leading and then you get a twist that you just didn’t see coming – can’t wait to read more by Debbie Zello
This starts off with Gavin waking up from a dream, the same dream he has been having and trying to make sense of but everything he tries isn’t working.
Gavin didn’t want to be a lawyer like his parents and work at their law firm. He decided to work for the homicide division of the Boston police department His boss wants some answers from an unsolved case that has been open a while and they seem to be getting evaded at every turn. As a result of Gavin being a workaholic his personal life is suffering, he gets along well with his partner Lou and thinks she has curves in all the right places.
Gavin gets an early call as there has been another body found and organises to pick Lou up on his way explaining she may not cope with seeing her first dead body and he was right. Gavin’s dreams continue each one a variance from the last but never giving him enough to go on.
After a few rough cases he’s friends with benefits, Jules gives him a call and it’s just what he needs with everything going on. Gavin and Lou continue following up on clues and suspects to try to find the killer all the while their friendly flirting continues. Jules his long term lover rings and makes Gavin an offer that he can’t accept even though their best friends and love each other and Gavin makes a counter offer.
Everyone is pushing Gavin to have a relationship, his mother is begging for grandchildren and his best friend’s wife plays match maker with her neighbour Marisa, but Gavin can’t focus on that while he is still having the dreams. Gavin continues to have the dreams which are giving no answers although do have some slight variations, and he still in no closer to closing the case. Finally, Gavin makes a connection to the cases but it wasn’t one I was expecting. Gavin continues having the dreams and his partner Lou helping him to try to solve the case starts to get to Gavin. The dreams continue with Gavin seeing them as real he begins to have trouble seeing what is real and what is not.
This is the first book that I have read by Debbie Zello. And this wonderful author did not disappoint! There were twists and turns in this story line that completely threw me for a loop and kept me turning pages and could not put it down! To me, this was a spicy, mysterious romance story and it was wonderfully written!
This is a story of Detective Gavin McLean. His life is his job! Then he starts having the same dream over and over that is a mystery to him that makes him question and dig further. Join him in this story and find out what danger may be lurking for him.
What the heck. Wow-what a page-turning thriller! I don’t usually crime books but sprinkle some romance and a super good-looking detective and I’m hooked. Not to give away the book but the first change messed me up, I haven’t stopped reading and gone to bed mad since the last Harry Potter book when I was a kid. I came back to the book the following night and I’m so glad I did but I was kept on my toes, to say the least. The characters were beautifully presented and described. I can’t wait to read the second book I hope the author keeps writing more of this story.
Why We Don’t Die In Dream: Book One by Debbie Zello is a brilliant book that really does leave you wanting more! There are so many twists and turns in this book you won’t know which way you are going. The author well and truly captures your attention on page one and doesn’t let go. I loved the main character. His journey is such an interesting one and I really enjoyed how woven into the story he is. This is a fantastic book and I seriously cannot wait for book 2!
I love the dynamic between the Lou(s) and Gavin(s) and the paranormal tinge.
I was confused a lot but still enjoyed the story and will definitely read the next installment.
The overall concept is intriguing but the execution needs work.
