Susan Mallery welcomes you to Happily Inc, where true love isn’t just for fairy tales… Natalie Kaleta will do anything for the artists at her gallery, including risk life, limb and the effect of humidity on her naturally curly hair. Braving a downpour to check on reclusive Ronan Mitchell, Natalie gets stranded by a mudslide at his mountain home, where the brooding glass artist reveals his … reveals his playful side, sending her inconvenient crush from under-the-radar to over-the-top.
After a secret tore apart his family and made him question his sense of self, Ronan fled his hometown for Happily Inc, but the sunny small town can’t fix his damaged heart. He won’t give in to his attraction for beautiful, perpetually cheerful Natalie. She’s untouched by darkness–or so he thinks.
Natalie knows that when a heart goes through the flame, it comes out stronger. Life may not be a fairy tale, but sometimes dreams do come true. Why not this one? Why not tonight?

Giving it 4.5. Liked the overall story and lots of the individual moments are great, especially the paper airplane contest and car destruction scene. Ms. Mallery does a wonderful job at showing the foibles and strengths of her main characters Natalie Kaleta and Ronan Mitchell; Natalie is the optimist who needs to learn to face challenges and value herself/her art and Ronan the man who needs to know that he is not defined by who gave birth to him. Enjoyed the re-bonding of the Mitchell brothers (the brothers were never “really” apart but the author takes the time to close the breach in their relationship over several events) and the idea of artists giving back to those around them. I am no artist but love the in depth descriptions of how the art in the story came to life–helped breath life back into the work. Highly recommend.
Why Not Tonight by Susan Mallery
Natalie Kaleta and Ronan Mitchell are the main characters. They are both artists, she is just beginning to become an artist and he is already a well known artist. Ronan finds being around Natalie calming and they start a relationship. Natalie encourages him to spend time with his family. Natalie and Ronan fall in love and have to work through some family issues on his side. This book is very well written. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great book. I started the book and just couldn’t put it down.
Ronan the big dark glass artist who hides in his lair to work out demons . Natalie the bright vivacious bubbly artist who works in light despite all her issues. Watching them find their way to each other is funny, heartfelt, and downright wonderful! A must read for anyone……reading the other two books helps with other characters in the story but you don’t have to start with them. I also connected with both characters in an artistic way. My heart loved this book and didn’t want it to end!!!!! Thank you so much Susan Mallery for sharing your imagination!!!!
Susan Mallery’s latest Happily Inc., novel Why Not Tonight, is the last of the Mitchell brother’s stories. Moody brooding Ronan is fun, especially as he encounters the force that is Natalie. She definitely doesn’t pull her punches as she pushes Ronan to deal with his past and move into the future. I giggled through this book in such a good way. Natalie’s sunshine jumps off the pages. There is just something about Happily Inc. that makes me want to visit again and again.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
I will continue to be amazed and in complete awe by Susan’s books. From the very first paragraph, she has you hooked, line and sinker. There’s no way you can stop reading. That tiny peek at a character and you want to know more or even be their friend.
I’m pretty sure I was more in love with Nathalie by the end of this book, then I was with Ronan. Nothing against him, she was just that amazing. Their stubbornness was their weakness and their strength. I look forward to getting peeks into their lives as the series continues.
As always, I highly recommend this book and every other Susan mallery book in existence.
Happy reading!
Note: I have voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this title.
Rating 5 stars…of course
This one was just plain fun with all the feels! Happily, Inc. sounds like not just a great place to visit but a wonderful place to move to. Natalie Kaleta ended up here when she was engaged to be married and planning her destination wedding until her fiance broke up with her. With no family, she stayed in Happily, Inc. and it was the best thing that could have happened to her. This fiesty, spunky, sassy, and infectiously sunny spitfire is the perfect counterpoint to Ronan Mitchell and his brooding and grumpy self. He moved to Happily, Inc. when he discovered he was the illegitimate son and his mom was not really his mom and his twin not really his twin. He was running away from his life but his brothers followed him and now he and his two brothers have an artist studio in town next to a gallery where Natalie is the part-time office manager. She is tasked with finding Ronan when he falls off the grid at his mountain home for several days with no contact so up the mountain she goes in her less than trusty car. After crashing into a tree and getting stuck in the mud she makes it to the house soaked to the bone and “crash-boom-crash” trees fall and mud slides and oops, there goes her car! A happy dance later and we are treated to Natalie’s true spirit and Ronan is hooked. They are stuck together for a few days and his brooding is no match for her sunny disposition. Watching these two come together was a hoot and watching them learn to co-exist and bond as they formed stronger ties was special. All Natalie wants is a family and all Ronan wants is to be away from his but they are no match for the forces that bring them together and when they are forced apart will they find their way back together?
This one can be read as a standalone.
5 STARS FOR RONAN AND NATALIE!! This series has been amazing and I loved this book. I think this is my favorite book by this author. Ronan and Natalie were perfect and had all the feels. The story was another home run for me, so make sure to purchase this phenomenal story.
Best in the Happily Inc. series. It seems like we waited forever for Ronan’s story. It was worth the wait!
Recurring and well developed characters lend depth to the story. The deep hurt in Ronan’s past lend to an emotional build that will leave you wondering if the void can ever be filled. This is one to share with friends. I had a difficult time putting it down.
I highly recommend this book to fans of the contemporary romance genre. I voluntarily read and reviewed a complementary copy of this book.
I think this is my new favorite couple!! Mostly because I want to be Natalie when I grow up!! I love her attitude and she is definitely what Ronan needed. If your a fan of Susan Mallery I think you will love this just like the others in this series. If you are new to the series this is a great book to read but I would also recommend the others in the series! I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I want more Ronan! This was not enough and probably never will be! I loved this story and the characters. These Mitchell brothers would make any woman swoon – I know – who does that? But it could and would happen if I were to ever meet them in person!
I guess that unless an unknown brother comes out of the woods, we won’t get any more of this particular family but I’m sure there will be many more intriguing and entertaining stories from Happily Inc. Who could come to this imaginary town and want to leave, never to return?
Ronan gets his HEA once he gets over himself and sees what has been in front of him for a while. Natalie knows his history and isn’t afraid to call him on it sometimes. They challenge each other daily until they reach their limits. Funny, emotional, and an absolute beautiful story!
I received an ARC from the author for an honest and unbiased review. No compensation was promised or received for the review.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
The characters + storytelling were really charming a minute
Natalie wasn’t looking for love, but she found it.
Ronan wasn’t looking for love, but he found it.
It started w/ a simple attraction that developed into a relationship.
Natalie is ready for what come next.
Ronan is still dealing w/ the pain from his past.
I thought that Natalie was perfect for Ronan.
She bought light into his life.
It has all the ingredients that you need for an awesome book!
I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
I’ve been waiting for Ronan’s story since the first book in the Happily Inc series. Portrayed as reclusive and taciturn, I knew it would take a special woman to bring this angry and heartbroken artistic genius out of his self-imposed shell.
Natalie knows Ronan, as she works for the gallery where his art is displayed and sold. She’s aware of drama surrounding his family, is friends with both his brothers and their wives, and she’s not intimidated by his silence or frowns. Natalie is sweet and funny, the perfect compliment to Ronan, who she finds is not a grumpy or grumbly as his persona implies. Every scene they were in was engaging, fun and/or sexy. Their chemistry was palpable and their dialogue was rich and real…especially the first few chapters when the story was centered on them alone, without secondary characters.
Visits from the citizens of Happily Inc add another layer onto Ronan and Natalie’s story, which is always a plus in series books. While Why Not Tonight could be read as a stand-alone, in my opinion it’s a better experience if you’ve read the first two. Not sure who’s story is up next, but Susan Mallery has her hands full to top my love of Ronan and Natalie!
I love Ronan and Natalie. They’ve both been through experiences in their lives, and they each deal with them in their own ways. Natalie is upbeat, with a quick wit, and a positive attitude. Ronan retreats within himself, and cuts himself off from the world. These two completely complement each other, proving that opposites really do attract. This is a feel good book, and I couldn’t put it down.
I have been reading about the Mitchell brothers since before the 3 youngest (Nick, Mathias and Ronan) left Fool’s Gold and relocated to Happily Inc.. I’ll freely admit I am still saddened that Susan Mallery ended the Fool’s Gold series. However, I would follow her anywhere (and for now that means to Happily Inc.) where she has given us readers a new quicky town to enjoy.
Ronan is a cranky pants, and I absolutely adored him. It was awesome witnessing Ronan struggle-since historically everything came easily to him; it gave the story an added level of realism. Natalie compliments Ronan’s cranky personality perfectly, with her often over-the-top positivity. These two are an ‘artistic’ match…the perfect blend of creativity and uniqueness.
Something was missing from this story – I didn’t realize it until I was writing this review but, where was the Grandpa Frank cameo. I need more Grandpa Frank…please!
Natalie. Light, bright, upbeat. Paper and mixed media artist. Ronan. Brooding, moody, temperamental. Exceptionally talented glass artist. Never, ever will these two be able to have a relationship, right? Ummm…no.
After learning his ‘true’ identity, Ronan leaves Fool’s Gold for Happily Inc. and decides to continue his incredible glass work, but pretty much tunes his family out. They reach out to him, but he only interacts with them if he absolutely needs their help or the mood strikes him. Often, he’s by himself in his mansion on a mountain. This usually isn’t cause for concern until he doesn’t answer his phone or texts from his family or the studio for much longer than usual.
After discussing Ronan’s MIA status, Natalie, struggling artist and art studio secretary, is elected to head up the mountain to do a status check and find out what the heck is going on. In typical Natalie fashion, she doesn’t take a vehicle that will get her up the mountain safely, because she doesn’t want to put anyone out or drive the behemoth truck Ronan’s brother wants her to take. Stranded, wet, and pissed, she heads to Ronan’s door and soon watches her car disappear down the mountain carrying a tree…and she’s OK with that.
Other family members make an appearance in Why Not Tonight, and there is a heartwarming resolution to Ronan’s thoughts on his status in the family.
Ronan and Natalie’s story to me, was a study in contrasts. Black vs. White. Yin and Yang. Upbeat vs. Brooding. Happy and angry. Natalie is the light in the room with Ronan being the shadows, and you need that ‘depth of field’ for a vibrant and focused relationship.
Susan Mallery takes these differences and allows her characters to come to life. Sit down, get cozy, grab your favorite beverage and fall in love with Happily Inc.
When we first met the Mitchell Brothers back in Fools Gold, I always had a feeling that Ronan was going to be my favorite of the bunch. With this latest story set in Happily Inc. I found out I was right. Often misunderstood, moody and reeling after his life was turned upside down, I knew it was going to take a special person to make Ronan see that he wasn’t his past, that he could be anyone he wanted to be. I fell in love with Natalie right away. Quirky, funny and honest to an embarrassing fault, Ronan never saw her coming. She actually reminded me a lot of Felicia, from Fool’s Gold and I would love to see them have some sort of interaction in the future. I loved that as artists Ronan and Natalie understood each other in ways that others hadn’t before and her interaction with all of the artist brothers were some of my favorite parts of the story. Natalie’s background touched my heart and I fully related to her desire for a family of her very own, to simply belong. Why Not Tonight brought the Mitchell’s together for some fun and family time for which I was grateful to catch up on their lives. Mallery’s tradition of featuring past community characters is one of my favorite parts of all of her stories. No one does it better and this book is no exception.
Oh my, I loved this book from Happily Inc. To finally get Ronan’s story was beyond exciting. Natalie was just perfect for him, even though it took Ronan time to see the same.
I fell in love with Natalie, loved her glasses and her curvy appearance, which she was ok with. She just wants to belong, after the break up with her fiance. She is a struggling artist but doesn’t want things handed to her.
Now Ronan, I just wanted to slap him over the head a few times. After finding out he was not raised by his own mom, he moves to Happily Inc to start over but soon his brothers follow. But it’s always poor me, what he forgets is that he has a loving family and a new girl that completely adores him.
Love the mentions of Fool’s Gold with Mayor Marsha. Loved the friendships that Natalie has made since moving here. Many laugh out moments through out the story. Happy tears at the end I did shed.
This is the perfect fall read on those cooler rainy days while drinking hot chocolate. I highly recommend this book.
With each book, I fall more in love with the stories and the characters. Ronan was a twin and then he wasn’t. He feels his whole life has been a lie and he withdraws from everyone. Then one day Natalie crashes into his solitude and he realizes that he doesn’t always want to be alone. Natalie is a force of nature. Her sunny disposition and optimism draws people to her. Ronan feels that he is so dark that he doesn’t want to put out Natalie’s light, so he stays away from her. Or at least he tries. Natalie draws him into her light and he likes it, but will he end up being like his father or can he overcome all of that?
This was a fun wrap up to the Mitchell Brothers books that have spanned the Fools Gold and Happily, Inc series. We get to know Ronan and Natalie (both secondary characters from previous books) better in this installment.
I enjoyed getting to spend time with them and seeing how being together made both of them better people. Ronan has a bigger emotional journey, one that has been building, but Natalie had her own issues to deal with.
This is an interconnected Stand-alone. It could be read by itself, but I do think the reader would benefit from reading the other Happily, Inc book first. The very active secondary cast have their stories continued here, so there are potential spoilers for people reading out of order.
This is well written (as expected) and fun, in especially liked Natalie’s character and her outlook on life is refreshing. Now that we have met all of the Mitchell brothers, I am curious to see what is next for the population of Happily, Inc.
It’s to the point in my reading life that I have little patience or tolerance for a main character being the cause of the relationship conflict in a book, but the early copy I read of Why Not Tonight is a refreshing exception. From the outset, Mallery set Ronan up with a major internal conflict and self-identity crisis, so his eventual sabotage of his relationship with Natalie was expected and anticipated but crafted in such a way that the reader is invested, understanding and sympathetic. For Mallery to get me to tolerate something I generally despise, and then also embrace the character and the outcome speaks to not only her talent in crafting a story but also her mastery of the psychology behind it and its impact on the reader.
Mallery’s Fool’s Gold series is one I hope will go on forever, so to have the Happily Inc. spin-off series with some familiar characters is a real treat. After Ronan Mitchell learns some devastating news that shakes the very foundation of his existence, he leaves his family and Fool’s Gold and secludes himself in an opulent mountain cabin near the wedding destination town of Happily Inc. There he can practice his glass art away from the toxicity of his even more famous artist father. He can’t completely avoid family though, since his two artist brothers follow him to Happily Inc. They’re used to his moodiness and solitude, but when no one has heard from him for nearly a week, they ask the gallery office gal, Natalie, to take a drive up to his house and check on him. It’s a good thing Natalie and Ronan are on friendly terms, because when the road to town washes out and Natalie gets stranded at Ronan’s, things get even friendlier.
Natalie and Ronan are complete opposites like light and dark but there’s a definite yin and yang thing between them. Yes, Ronan has had some disappointment in his life, but he let it turn from stoic, moody and brooding into angry, bitter and fatalistic, and he’s become far too much like the father he despises. Natalie has had her own share of hardships, yet she remains happy, positive and upbeat and has an excitement and vitality for life that is enviable. She’s certainly good for Ronan, yet she doesn’t hesitate to give him a piece of her mind when he needs it, or call him a “stupid butthead” when he needs to hear it.
As an artist, I was intrigued to see how these artistic characters would develop, and I think Mallery captured the soul of an artist beautifully. Yes, there are some specific artistic types portrayed with Ceallach’s temperamental and gigantic ego, Ronan’s moody brooding, and Natalie’s sunny disposition on the opposite end of the spectrum, where the majority of artists are probably somewhere in the middle. But the rest was spot on. The floundering, at-odds feeling during lack of inspiration. The Zen state in the midst of inspired creation where nothing exists beyond artist and materials. The creation of landfill-worthy pieces that serve to show the artist the corrections and tweaks needed until that gallery-worthy piece is finally born. Mallery offers an accurate glimpse at the process of artistic endeavor. This, along with many endearing, relatable characters and a captivating storyline make Why Not Tonight a delightful read and one I wholeheartedly recommend.
