Classic Susan Mallery. Endearing characters, very romantic. And I have to admit, I’m a sucker for a grumpy, reclusive hero. Loved it.
Once again a fantastic visit to Happily, Inc! A town built upon servicing the wedding and event industry. Toss in a few eccentric, creative artists and a herd of giraffes as the town mascots to have the perfect recipe for a delightfully entertaining read. If you are looking for a feel good story that ties everything up with a happily ever after, then this is the book and series for you. Short, easy to read book that will entertain you with loss, love, laughter and a bit of romance to wile away the afternoon!
What a wonderful, funny, positive heroine Natalie is! She was the highlight of this book for me and completely charmed me.
I started and finished this book in one day. To say it was funny and loving and warm and touching…sounds trite but it was all those things. Wonderful!
The first thing I noticed about Why Not Tonight is that I was amazed at the characters. I don’t know how Ms. Mallery made Natalie’s character so true and believable. Both Natalie’s and Ronan’s characters start strong and the writing carries it throughout the entire book. Never once did I read and think that a scene was a bit off, a character would never do and say that. Natalie doesn’t come across Pollyanna-ish and Ronan isn’t an alpha jerk. They will grab you from the start.
I won’t recant the story – you need to read it for yourself – but I can tell you what else I enjoyed. If you’ve read the other Happily, Inc. books, you’ve met the very artistically talented, highly successful, Mitchell brothers. Ronan Mitchell is dealing with a major life crisis. Trust me, that’s the short version. It rocks his world and he pulls away from his family and brothers; is broken inside. Natalie Kaleta works part-time at the art gallery where the Mitchell brothers create their art. She is also an artist, only she needs to start to believe that in order to build up confidence in herself and her work. These two couldn’t be more opposite but you know what they say…opposites attract. Their relationship is hilarious at times, with Natalie being a “sunny” personality and Ronan being the “dark and brooding” hero. This is where the author really excels in writing their characters and made it the most enjoyable read, for me.
There are some funny lines: pay attention to the ‘butthead’ lines. Laugh when Natalie talks about her car. Think of the tagline, “shiny things!” when she veers off course with whatever she is doing when something catches her eye. And sniffle when these two really talk out what is going on in their lives. I was truly gobsmacked by their interactions.
Loved this story. Love this town. And we sorta got to spend some time with Millie, the giraffe.
Great read! Didn’t want to put it down. Love feisty Natalie and Ronan’s many layers. Susan Mallory doesn’t disappoint with this next book in the Happily Inc. series.
Natalie Kaleta will do whatever the artists at the gallery she works for ask of her, even going out into the pouring rain to check on hermit-like Ronan Mitchell, None of the other artists, namely his brothers, have heard from him in days so they ask Natalie to check up on him. Natalie does just than and gets sidelined by a mudslide that take out not only the road but her car in the process. This leaves Natalie as a house guest to the artist until the roads can be cleared and it’s safe to travel down the mountain. During her visit they both begin to see a different side to each other and Natalie realizes that her crush for the artist might be much more. Ronan has his own demons to deal with and pushes her away at every opportunity but begins to realize just how much he misses her when she’s not around. She seems to have opened up an outlet for his art that has been evading him for some time now. Follow along as the two move two steps forward and one step back in a dance of emotions and feelings that neither know quite how to express. I love this series and enjoy the characters not to mention the story that brings them together. The author always brings such unique characters to life and they become friends as you get into their stories.
This is such a fun and sweet opposites attract romance. Ronan and Natalie are absolutely darling together! They are a perfect study in contrast. His dark to her light, his brooding to her sass and his intensity to her quirkiness. An emotional and involving storyline keeps you fully engaged and rooting for this couple. With plenty of witty banter and humor to go hand in had with some drama and angst; you have a well balance smartly crafted and completely enjoyable romance.
Natalie is an unconventional artist whose art incorporates mostly recyclable items. she has no faith in herself but is using her spare time to create. She unwittingly becomes a guest of Ronan another Happily Inc artist who is a recluse and forgets his phone in town. Their friendship grows into romance on a day-to-day no seriousness basis. She is very upbeat and an opposite force for Ronan who has become unsociable.
Watch their romance unfold with this unconventional romance that blends both individuals into something more…
An art gallery owner goes off seeking a reclusive artist in the mountains — and sparks fly! I adored Natalie and Ronan’s romance, and the way she helps him heal. “Life may not be a fairy tale, but sometimes dreams do come true.” This book is one of those dreams!
Part of a continuing series, Susan Mallery keeps you in tune with both new and old characters . A feel good read.
Good lord, I have wanted to tell Ronan to gro the hell up and see the good in his past for four books now, thank god Natalie finally got through to him! I was cheering for her when she finally told him to pull his head out of his butt. Natalie was a half full kind of girl and Ronan was a half empty kind of guy and she’s finally got him to see what half full could look like.
A quick-paced romance, showing that opposites DO attract! Natalie Kaleta is dedicated to her job at the art gallery, so when nobody can get a hold of artist Ronan Mitchell, she goes out in a storm to make sure he’s okay. Her car ends up getting totaled, leaving her stranded with the antisocial man.
Sparks fly between the two, but Ronan doesn’t want Natalie to feel taken advantage of, so it’s put on the back burner…for now. Romance blooms between the two, but Natalie is actively seeking someone to give her a family, while Ronan can’t open himself to be hurt by anyone, especially after a family secret comes to life. I LOVED the depth of these characters and the journey they go on to find what they really want in life. Susan Mallery knows just how to reel the reader into the story and make your heart burst!
Ronan Mitchell fled his hometown to end up in Happily Inc, after finding out the secret that he and his brother Mathias are not real twins. This secret caused him to question who he is, so he distanced himself from everyone, including Natalie Kaleta, who he is attracted to but doesn’t want his darkness to affect her light, cheerful personality.
Natalie will go above and beyond for the artists at her gallery, that’s why she finds herself driving up a curvy, narrow, mountain road in a downpour to check on a reclusive Ronan. While debating to kill him or not she gets stranded by a mudslide close to his home. Natalie has a crush on moody Ronan and she hopes she can keep these feelings hidden when she’s forced to stay the night with him. Ronan reveals a playful side, sending her crush from under-the-radar to over-the-top.
Natalie knows that when a heart gets broken it needs time to heal. Like going through a storm and coming out stronger on the other side. She needs Ronan to realize that Life isn’t always easy and with trust sometimes dreams will come true. Why not tonight?
I really like Natalie. She doesn’t know the strength of her artistic abilities. She is smart and funny and has a protective instinct a mile long. The person she tends to protect, though he doesn’t need it, is Ronan Mitchell. Now Ronan is just as talented as his father. He has decided to leave Fool’s Gold and move to Happily Inc. He has been falling down the dark rabbit hole. Running away even as an adult, doesn’t solve anything. It isn’t till Natalie has crawled under his skin, that everything comes to a head. Mitchell brothers to the rescue.
I’ve been waiting patiently for Ronan’s story. Ronan Mitchell is a famous glass artist (coming from a long line of artists). His life was turned upside down when a secret was revealed about his family. He’s been distancing himself from his family and generally brooding through all of his brother’s books (and I think that’s like four books). Gallery manager and fellow artist, Natalie Kaleta, is determined to shake him out of his perpetual gloom and help him reconnect with his family. This book really delivered. It was a sweet and satisfying conclusion to all the books about the Mitchell brothers.
Loved seeing the last of the Mitchell family find his happily ever after. Fans of Fools Gold and Happily Inc. will enjoy this book.
Ronan Mitchell finds his way back to his family with help from the spunky, always optimistic Natalie. She doesn’t let him brood in solitude but draws him out of his self imposed exile to return to interacting with his brothers.
I know I can count on humor and heat in a Susan Mallory book. The Happily Inc. Series is no exception. Interesting characters, funny situations, hunky men and happily ever after!
I enjoyed seeing Ronan, the third Mitchell brother find Natalie and love!
Romance blooms between a sassy, quirky, and peppy young lady and her more conservative and uninspired boss when they are holed up together during a disastrous storm. Mallery’s characters are unique and this was a wonderful story of finding the desires of one’s heart.
I have been waiting for Ronan’s story since he first appeared in the Fool’s Gold books, and I was not disappointed. Ronan is a brilliant glass artist. He is also brooding, angry, and terribly confused. In a previous book, Ronan discovered that he is not his brother Mathias’s twin. He is the product of one of his father’s affairs, which has made him question everything about himself. He has pulled away from everyone – his brothers, his father (I don’t blame him there), and the woman he thought was his mother (that does bother me). He’s so angry that he’s been lied to all his life that he has allowed that anger to affect every part of his life. He’s finally reached a point where he realizes that he misses the relationship he had with his brothers, but he doesn’t know how to fix it. They miss him too, and it’s that worry for him that sends Natalie up the mountain to check on him.
Natalie is a fellow artist as well as the gallery owner’s assistant. She is one of those people who can find the good in almost anything. I loved the description of her as curvy, feisty, and that she wears glasses, which added to the realism of her character. She is also a wee bit stubborn, which is what sent her up the mountain in bad weather in a car that was inadequate for the conditions. It was no wonder that she ended up on his doorstep muddy, wet, and spitting mad.
I loved the development of Natalie and Ronan’s relationship. Natalie has had a crush on Ronan but has kept it under control. An engagement gone bad has left her unwilling to risk her heart again, even though she wants a family of her own. Her conversations with her friends over the “baby app” are funny and heartbreaking at the same time. When she gets stuck on the mountain with Ronan, she discovers a whole new side of the brooding artist. I ached a little for Ronan because he was so surprised that anyone was worried enough about him to check on him. I loved how easy he found it to bring her into his house and his life. It turned out that he’d been crushing on her a bit, too. I loved those couple of days that they had together. Natalie’s cheerfulness threw some light into the dark corners of Ronan’s life, and I loved seeing a lighter side of Ronan emerge. I especially enjoyed the paper airplane scene. There are also some pretty strong sparks flying between them. Though it was frustrating for Natalie, I quite liked Ronan’s refusal to take advantage of those sparks while she was “trapped” in his house. He certainly made up for it later.
When they agreed to have a fling, with the understanding that emotions would not be involved, I had to laugh. It was clear to me that Natalie was already well down the road to loving Ronan. I loved watching them together. With Natalie in his life, Ronan lost a lot of his broodiness, and his creative side began to re-emerge. With both of them being artists, there was no feeling of neglect when one or the other was caught up in their creative process. There were some very sweet scenes showing Ronan’s support and encouragement of Natalie. When they were together, Natalie seemed to be consistently tuned into Ronan’s moods. Because of her lack of family, Natalie really wants Ronan to reconcile with his. She takes every opportunity to point out to him how lucky he is to have the family that he does. I loved seeing how she brought Ronan and his brothers back together, using an art project as the reason. The more time they spent together, the deeper their feelings grew, though each one tried desperately to deny it. I ached for Natalie when she got up the courage to tell Ronan how she felt, only to have him run. Ronan is terrified that his problems would suck the life out of her, just as his father tended to do to others, so he’d rather push her away than see that happen. But when Ronan faced a crisis, Natalie was the one he turned to. The ending was intensely emotional, as Ronan was finally able to lay his fears to rest. I loved his big moment at the end. It was sweet, romantic, and beautiful.
The big issue in the book was Ronan’s reaction to finding out the truth of his birth. I could completely understand the initial shock and the need to get away and process the information. However, I couldn’t understand him pushing his brothers away. Even if they are “only” half-brothers, the love, respect, and memories are still there. I liked that they didn’t give up on him. I ached for him and his feelings of betrayal from his mom. That was the hardest thing for him to deal with. Once Ronan was involved with Natalie, things began to change because of her. I loved her determination to help him reconcile with his family. She also knew that it couldn’t be forced. I loved her creativity in bringing him together with Nick and Mathias. But try as she might, she didn’t seem to be able to get through to him when it came to his mom. I found it immensely satisfying when she finally laid into him with her opinion of his attitude. In the end, it was Nick who took the logical course of action to resolve the issue. I loved Ronan’s stunned reaction and how it made him reevaluate his own actions. The resolution was intense and emotional.
I also loved the friendships among the women of the story. It’s always wonderful to see how the author brings together such diverse personalities in a way that works. They are always there to support each other, professionally or personally, and can be depended on to be brutally honest if required. There were a couple of those moments between Natalie and Silver when Natalie had a decision to make. There were a few hints dropped that make me think that Silver’s story is going to be another fantastic installment in the series.
Another enjoyable book from Susan Mallery. I like how she puts humor in her book rather it’s the hero or heroine that is hilarious. This was about Natalie and Ronan from Fool’s Gold. Natalie came up the mountain to check on Ronan because his family and friends have not heard from him. Since she was the assistant to the owner, Natalie had to go up in her car that was barely holding on. There is a landslide that takes her car and leave her stranded with the good looking brooding artist Ronan. With a lot of jokes, help from family and friends, and some misunderstanding, they preserved through this book.
