If you believe in second chances . . . All I did was dance with her at a bar. Just once. Then this undeniably gorgeous party girl, Stevie, turns up at my house, the contractor in charge of my remodel.Ha!How am I supposed to take her seriously? The problem is she’s excellent at her job, which aggravates me even more. She’s changing my house, changing my life, and my animal urge to protect and … my house, changing my life, and my animal urge to protect and possess her feels like a betrayal to my deceased wife.
She’s absolutely unsuitable.
He’s uptight, f*** hot, and there’s no way she can compete with the ghost of his wife.
A book full of filthy sex and beautiful tortured romance. Why Her? is a standalone novel with a tear-worthy HEA, no cheating, no cliffhangers, just all yes. Keep the fan handy, you’ll need it.

Great storyline! Older man, younger woman, but written in a way that’s hot!!! Widower, Kane, meets Stevie, in a bar, when she gets up the nerve to ask the sexy, slightly silver fox to dance. Instant chemistry flares and they both kinda panic and back off without getting a name. I love the fact that Stevie is a strong, independent, female contractor who shows up at the silver fox’s house the next morning to start his remodel project.
The cast of supporting characters adds the right amount of fun and drama to the story, leading from laughs to tears with the turn of a few pages. The emotional backstory was handled well considering how tricky teenage girls can be. And the best part of all of Rie’s books….the sex is off the charts hot!!! Thanks for the early read!
Book #2 in her Mistaken Identities series and again a real page turner. Rie Warren really knows how to spin the heat and the emotions. Stevie has been fighting to prove herself for some time. She chose to be part of the family business, a construction company, exceed at a predominately male profession and she is damn good at it. Kane, who lost his wife and the mother of their only child a couple years ago, is struggling to be the perfect dad for his daughter, taking on the role of both mother and father. When Stevie’s family business is contracted to remodel Kane’s home, the sparks fly and both Kane and Stevie must prove to others and to themselves that they are “building” a perfect world for themselves and for their families.

Stevie is in a club and after a lot of alcohol she is dared to ask “the silver fox”, Kane to dance, and that is all they have is the one dance. The next day Kane is shocked when Stevie shows up at his house as the contractor who is going to update the house he built for his late wife. The chemistry between these two is explosive and they certainly light up the sheets. No spoilers though; this is a must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a beautifully written story, which is filled with drama, emotion, humour, and is a heart-warming, steamy, and powerful story. I was totally intrigued and captivated throughout, and cannot wait to read more of this talented authors’ work. I highly recommend this authors’ work for all readers.
Ahhhhhh, Rie Warren has done it again!
I just love immersing myself into one of Ms. Warren’s books, for a little while, they are the perfect escape from the real world. I love knowing I’m going to be entertained, I’m going to feel and I’m going to want to keep turning the page.
Why Her? is a lighter side of Ms. Warren. The story is at times sweet, at times emotional and at times a little dirty (it wouldn’t be a Rie Warren novel if it wasn’t).
Of all of Ms. Warren’s novels I found Why Her? to be the most emotional. It was an utterly sweet story. Why Her?explores the relationship between an older widower and a younger woman.
Unlike other, similar stories, where this kind of relationship could be construed as highly taboo Ms. Warren handles it in way that doesn’t make us uncomfortable but makes us root for the couple; makes us yearn for their happily ever after despite all of their differences.
Why Her? tore at my heart strings. It’s a beautiful and achingly sweet story of second chances and true love. The story is true perfection from start to finish.
I love Rie reads, the men are always uber alpha and the woman are strong and ballsy.
Older man/younger woman read.
Stevie hits on Kane in a bar, I love the way she brazenly went up to him. He was surprised, flattered and interested. Great chemistry you could feel off the pages.
She’s the contractor in charge of his remodeling and he doesn’t want to want her. He’s conflicted because of her age, she’s because he is a widower.
Watch out for the fireworks.
Favorite Quote:
“I ordered pizza.” “I thought you said you were making dinner.” … “I am. I’m making it come to the door.”
My Review:
This atomically hot and lusty couple had amazing sexual endurance and supernatural stamina, I feel so clumsy and inadequate by comparison. For a middle-aged widower with a relatively sedate first marriage, Kane seemed to be making up for lost time as once he finally caved for his attraction to the feisty Stevie, they want at it like savages. They scorched the sheets with rapturous abandon every-single-time with their wild and passionate interplays that occasionally had me flinching. Rie Warren seems to have a proclivity for filthy pillow talk and copious amounts of body fluids since this lewd lipped pair habitually went off like geysers. In addition to their creatively lascivious exploits, there were clever naughty bits of humor, family drama, and a heart-enlarging and transformative romance. And as an added bonus, a new euphemism for spanking the monkey was gleaned when Stevie confessed to unwittingly witnessing Kane “shuck his corn.” ~ Smirk, I doubt I could ever have too many alternative expressions in my pockets for that…
Why Her? The better question is Why not her?
I just loved these characters! Kane is an older single dad and a widower and Stevie is working in a mans world and is being stalked by an ex-Boyfriend. They have their differences and a few hurdles to cross, but once they give in to the smoking, hot chemistry pulling them together the pages lit on fire!
This book has all the making of a sweet love story and reminded me how much I love Rie Warren and the books she writes.
When Stevie went out with her best friend to a club, it was just to unwind and celebrate her break up. When she spots this hot silver fox across the way, her bestie pushes her into asking him to dance. With liquid courage, her bestie egging her on, she makes the trek over and asks him. One dance is all it took for her to feel the sparks, but one dance is all they get. Until the next day when Stevie shows up at a new clients house and Kane/silver fox opens the door. Now Stevie is going to be his contractor and upgrading the house that he built for his late wife… a bit awkward. Will the age difference be enough to keep the two from crossing the line?
I freaking LOVED this book! Everything about this was amazing, the build up and the sexy times were HOT! Just enough drama to keep us intrigued but not OTT. Side characters that kept us cracking up. This is a 5 star read for me. I’m really hoping that Carmen and Gabriel get a book!
5 Silver Fox Stars!!!
This is the second book in the Mistaken Identities by Rie Warren. And, I liked it better then the first book.
Stevie finally breaks up with the latest loser. Her best friend drags her out for a night of fun. Stevie’s use to wearing her wolverine steel toe boots, her hard hat and tool belt. But, she does love her high heels.
While at the bar her eyes lock onto the hottest, sexiest silver fox she’s ever seen. With her friend pushing her Stevie goes and asks him to dance. He definitely didn’t seem all for it at first. But, once they got on the dance floor the chemistry and flames went thru the roof.
Stevie is a contractor working for her father. It’s a family business. Her father is always giving Stevie a hard time. This job is the first one that Stevie’s in charge of. The house was beautiful but she knows what changes can be made to make it even more beautiful. But, when the owner answers the door everything changes when she sees the owner….. Mr Silver Fox!!
Kane lost his wife in an accident. Now, it’s just him and his daughter. When his coworker talks him into dancing with the beautiful young women he could spit fire. He’s not looking for love. He couldn’t get away from her fast enough. Until he opened his door the next day and his contractor Stevie’s standing there… Imagine his face when he sees its her.
Kane and Stevie try to keep things strictly professional for as long as possible. It’s hard for them both bc they’re both feeling the pull to each other. They get along great. Kane continues insisting she’s too young for him and Stevie continues proving age doesn’t matter. Man, these two are smoking hot!!!
I really enjoyed Kady and Jude. The dynamic st the start, how the story progressed, the drama that they go through….. it was a fun ride. Single mom books are some of my favorites and the 3 kids in this book had my stomach hurting from laughter. Amazing kids. I loved the link that these two had. It wasn’t anything special, but I couldn’t help but be really engrossed in the sex scenes. They didn’t have me skimming to get through them. I have to say I really wish there had been an epilogue. While I really think it was a well rounded book with only a few things that I felt needed be expanded an epilogue would have made it perfect for me. I wanted to see their future. I know there’s another book to be released in the series so maybe we will be them in that one. Fingers crossed. 4 stars #2OCCJD
