Why is this happening to me?Why won’t God stop this? Why am I in pain? Why did my child die?Why do they hate me?“I would really recommend this book to those who are seeking Christ and for those who have accepted Him….” ~Richard DeMoss, Readers’ Favorite
This little book seems especially appropriate for this time with a pandemic and panic reigning. The author share why we can and should trust God in all circumstances. We know we live in a fallen world so negative things are to be expected and should come as no surprise. In six chapters this book addresses personality, sorrow, and joy, and connects each to God, whom we must trust to find the answers/contentment we seek. The author has served as a mentor so he knows how to help those who struggle. Using biblical principles and life experiences, he guides readers to overcome their challenges and live more victoriously. I found the information positive and useful, but similar to what I’ve found other places and perhaps a bit hard to get into. It may be the writing style. Nevertheless, readers should be encouraged by the material presented. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
My Thoughts on Why Can’t We Trust God?:
I think this book read well. There are definitely aspects of it that I might not agree with but the author presented his argument well and in an informed way. I do appreciate that it is based on scripture and does use scripture to back things up.
Not everything is something that I agree with but I do think this is an important topic. It’s so easy to fall into the why is God doing this to my mindset of thinking we’re being picked on. That if God wanted to he could just twitch an eye and make it all better.
The biggest take away is that God is all-powerful and he knows more than we do. In the end, maybe what happens is worth it and better for us.

The word trust makes me quiver at times. It has been a struggle for me all my life. I have often questioned why God would allow such horrific things to happen if He loves us. How do you explain to someone that God has a reason for taking a loved one or having you go through a traumatic event? In this book I found many scriptures that help explain questions I have had and examples that show how much He loves me.
I am one of those people who takes notes as I read. I want to remember things I find significant and speak to me. It is important to tell readers that this book should be read with an open mind and study the scriptures carefully. Some books I can read and gather my thoughts about it quickly. With this book I wanted to slow my pace down and really soak in what the author was saying.
I can’t say I agreed with every point the author makes in the book but I did appreciate him showing another way to look at the word trust. As children we grow up to trust certain people in our lives. When they hurt us, we lose trust in them. I did like the part about God using the unlikely to “do His work.” The scripture, “My Grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness,” really hit home. When we are at our weakest , He is there to give us strength. When we hurt God is there to comfort us and show His unconditional love.
I have taken many notes from the book and plan to reread it as I ask God to help me grow stronger in my faith and to learn to trust Him more.
