Who We Might’ve Been (Billie Dixon #3)

The third book in this series and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I thought maybe Billie’s life would be getting a little boring now but no the author upped it in this book and I think it might be my favourite of the series so far! There were so many surprises for me, especially the Billie and Dahlia storyline – I was not expecting that! I think what still strikes me with this book is how real it all feels, I am genuinely there with the characters and feel like I am living their lives with them. I can’t help but like Billie, she has had so much going on in her life, it is definitely one rollercoaster and I was on it with her!
Xander – I can’t help it but I still love him! He has his moments but there is just something about him that draws me to him. He genuinely does care about Billie, and their other friends, I just think that sometimes he doesn’t show it well.
Again as with the first two books in the series the authors writing is brilliant, the story flows well and I was hooked from beginning to end! If you haven’t read the first two books then they should be read before this one and all three are worth a read!

Who We Might Have Been is the third and final book in the Billie Dixon trilogy series by D.L. Pitchford. It is a wonderful new adult story that explores some of the issues that come with early adulthood, relationships, family, friendship, choices, and learning more about one’s self.
We met Billie Dixon in the first book and have followed her through her journey. So, if you haven’t read the first two books in this series yet, I strongly suggest that you do- as this series is a continuation of a storyline that you need to have all the facts for, in order to fully enjoy this book.
In three books Billie has been through quite a lot and had to negotiate some tough situations. But what I like most about this series is the Billie has grown and developed as the story has progressed- she is not quite the same insecure, introverted, artistic, and mathematically minded first year college student we met in book one. That’s not to say that everything has been smooth sailing since then, far from it- I am just impressed by how far she’s come. I have mentioned in the past that I didn’t really like her much to begin with, but Ms. Pitchford and Billie have won me over since then. This book took me completely unawares, by bringing Dahlia onto the scene- I do remember her from the previous book and I was so surprised with the direction the story took by her addition. I am most definitely #teamXander, so I had mixed feelings about this part of the storyline.
I feel that this book is very much a character driven story- that’s not to say the story is lacking, because it is quite interesting- but the characters are the real gems in this story- they are very authentic, complex, believable and over-all quite endearing.
This is the final book in the trilogy, and my favourite of the series….. but I hope this isn’t the last we see of Billie- the author did a great job tying up the threads of the storyline and giving me some closure, but the way the story ended, leaving an opening to add more at a later date, gives me hope that we may get the chance to revisit again some day!
I wonder what Ms. Pitchford has in store for us next?
Thank-you, Ms. Pitchford!
I highly suggest that you read the previous two books before this one as they pick up pretty much where the last left off. In this installment Billie is still learning about life and trying to stay on track. Dahlia wants a second chance but will Billie give it to her? They took me on an emotional roller coaster from compassion to humor. I was pulled right in from the start with this story and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. I highly recommend this book.
Who We Might’ve Been: A College Coming-Of-Age story by D.L. Pitchford is the third book in the Billie Dixon series. This series really does need to be read in order as it follows the same character throughout and each book follows on from the last.
Billie’s life is falling apart. With friends having drifted from her and Xander not talking to her she doesn’t have anything that she once did. And to make matters worse her boss doesn’t feel she has done enough to be classed as an artist yet – she still has to pay her dues.
With everything in disarray around her the last thing she wants is to be partnered with Dahlia, but of course that is exactly what happens. And Dahlia is determined to get Billie. It is down to Billie herself to determine whether she can give her a second chance or not. All the while figuring out how to mend everything that is broken in her life.
I found this to be such an emotional story, as with all of the books in this series. Billie always seems to go through so much and just when you think things might work out for her something else happens. I have enjoyed reading about the character development though, I really feel like you can see how all the characters have grown and progressed over the course of the three books. This is the same for the authors writing. It is like with each book the writing has grown and developed with the characters, helping to add such depth to already good books. This is a definite must read series, I urge everyone to go and buy book one now.
Welcome to the third installment of the Billie Dixon saga and now my favorite one. If you haven’t read the first two books, stop and go read them now. Get lost in Billie Dixon’s world and the people in it. Especially the sexy Xander (Can you tell he’s my favorite?)
This story focuses on Billie trying to live a good life. She is trying to stay on her medication to treat her depression and really think out her decisions. She isn’t the rash and immature young adult she previously was. But she also is still learning about life and growing up. She mainly is figuring out who she is. But life can be stressful. Her best friend Jimmy and her aren’t really talking and it seems like he is hiding something from her. Her ex lover and ex friend Xander is avoiding her and while she tries to tell herself she doesn’t care, she so does deeply. It doesn’t help that Billie, Jimmy and Xander all share a house. And Dilah is back in Billie’s life. As if their friendship wasn’t toxic and confusing before, this time it’s way more intense. But Billie is trying to be a good person and change her past. But sometimes when we do that we don’t see the present and how maybe our actions from the past had a purpose. And sometimes we think we have things figured out when we are far from it.
I loved this book the best because Billie really is maturing and I can relate to her more. I no longer want to shake her and tell her to stop making terrible decisions. (To be honest it was my turn to want to do this to Xander) I felt for Billie as she is struggling with her identity and boy is she struggling! I did what I always do, get lost in her world. And when the book ended I craved more. And there will be more (thankfully). But I think I will read it again (it’s that good!).
Get lost in Billie’s world with me. Feel what I felt all through this story: frustration, love, anger, sadness and inspired. This really is a book all college students that are struggling with their identity should read.
