For these two broken hearts, the first step toward love will be a huge leap of faith.
Jessica Mason isn’t looking for love when she meets Ridley Chesterfield. Instead she is still reeling from the tragic, unexpected loss of her husband and daughter—and awaiting the arrival of her unborn child. Harboring the secret of her husband’s betrayal, her pain is deeper than anyone knows.
Ridley … anyone knows.
Ridley Chesterfield is hiding out in Hope Springs, Idaho, avoiding a political scandal and the barrage of false media headlines that have tarnished his good name. The last thing Ridley wants is a relationship—but when fate leads Ridley to form a friendship with his reclusive and pregnant neighbor, he wonders if this small-town hideout might be more of a long-term destination.
When Jessica begins to read her great-grandfather’s Bible, she finds a connection with a man she never knew. Somehow the verses he marked and the words he wrote in the margins open her heart to healing. And as Ridley and Jessica help each other forgive the people who have wronged them, they must decide if the past will define them or if they will choose to love again.
Who I Am With You weaves together a modern-day romance with Jessica’s great-grandfather’s story from the 1930s, reminding us that some truths can cross generations and that faith has the power to transform families forever.

‘Some lessons a person had to learn for themselves and not from hearing the experiences of others.’
Jessica Mason is still suffering from the totally unexpected death of her husband and young daughter and now, a pregnant widow, who is also suffering from her husband’s betrayal, she is trying to come to terms with the pain of the life she must now lead. Ridley Chesterfield has come to Hope Springs to get away from a political scandal and just wants to heal. He trusts God to get him through this. Jessica wonders where God is.
Interspersed throughout with snippets from the notes in her great grandfather’s Bible, Jessica is feeling to pull on her heart to trust God again. Neither Jessica nor Ridley expects love at this point in their lives. But these two broken people, both having no reason to trust another person again, realize that putting their trust in God also means that He will give them the strength to trust others again.
I have been a Robin Lee Hatcher fan for many hears. I always will be. She writes deeply emotional stories that grab the reader’s heart and draws them in completely. I highly recommend this one.
*My thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book via Net Galley. All opinions stated here are my own entirely.
Robin Lee Hatcher has written an involving fast read book. Jessica has lost her husband and daughter in a car accident and then finds she is pregnant. She is also hiding the secret of her husband’s affair. Her mother gives her a Bible of her great-grandfather to read. Ridley moves in next door to her in his parents’ house to get away from a political scandal which has tarnished his name.
I like how the characters in the book relate to each other. We hear about what went on in Jessica’s great grandfathers, Andrew time and how he struggled with forgiveness just as Jessica and Ridley do in their own lives. The book shows how each of the characters learn to forgive and then learn to love someone.
This book is the complete package…..well written as expected by this author….movement like a well rehearsed dance….well developed characters that are identifiable…..and a story that grips your heart. I loved the intertwining of the past and present like two gnarled trees through a Bible that is passed down through the generations. This is a story of betrayal and hurts that have two people isolating themselves, but God brings beauty from the ashes in such a moving way that you will need a few tissues. It gives you hope that during your darkest days God is still with you. It encourages and leaves you wanting more. This is book one in The Legacy Of Faith Series and I will be anticipating the next one.
I received a complimentary copy from the author/publisher. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
“And I’m still pretending we were happy at the end.”
Isolating herself from family and friends after the untimely deaths of her husband and daughter, Hope Springs, Idaho artist Jessica Mason continues to grieve a past that wasn’t as idyllic as it appeared to be. Now expecting the birth of her second child, and anticipating being a single mother, Jessica is surprised to find that the empty property next door has a new inhabitant; a man, who like herself, is seeking isolation.
Ridley Chesterfield has arrived in Hope Springs hoping to escape a proverbial media storm of political nastiness; being falsely accused of leaking private information about the candidate that he publicly supported. Moving into his parents’ new vacation home seems the right things to do in the interim, he just never expected to bond with his lovely, single, pregnant next door neighbor.
Not only has the author written a lovely contemporary story, she has quietly and effectively slipped in a legacy of faith; for Jessica’s family Bible, bequeathed to her upon her dear grandmother’s death, is a treasure trove of wisdom, perfectly suited for two hearts learning how to live, love and forgive.
I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. The opinions stated are entirely my own.
This book has a story within a story. One set during the depression and one set in current times.
Heartbroken with the death of her daughter and husband, plus a secret that Jessica doesn’t feel she can share with anyone. Add in a pregnancy that she discovers after her husband’s death. A new neighbor who is running from his own demons. Both are struggling not only with their own problems but an attraction that is slowly taking place. There are scriptures and prayers that will help you with your own struggles and problems. They both have to come to terms with their past and learn forgiveness before they move ahead.
I received this as an ARC from the author. All opinions expressed are my own and were not solicited by anyone. Robin Lee Hatcher is well known for her Christian fiction and heart warming stories. Her own faith shines through her characters. I’m still not sure which story is my favorite the one with Jessica or the one with her great grandfather during the depression. Both are wonderful stories.
It’s a Robin Lee Hatcher book so, you know it’s going to be good. This is the first book in a new series, Legacy of Faith. This book was so good! As with all Hatcher books, the storyline, characters and plot resolution are all on point. Her novels are so hard to put down, you have to allot time to read the thing in a day or two! This one is interesting (no spoilers I promise!) because there are past and present storylines. I love how Robin fleshes out the characters and delves into their feelings. So realistic! I am anticipating the next book in the series. I know it will be good!
This was a complimentary ARC of the book , but I was not instrucated to leave a positive review. My opinion is all mine!
Who I Am With You ( Legacy of Faith #1 )
By: Robin Lee Hatcher
Who I Am With You is the first book by Robin Lee Hatcher in Legacy of Faith Series. This book was so good. The author grabs you and you are hooked. I did not want to put it down. The characters are well written. There are two story timelines, past and present, and you feel like you are reading two stories. It shows how our present lives are weaved together with our ancestors. I really enjoyed the two main characters, Jessica and Ridley, both are struggling with hurt in the past. I loved how they cared for each other even though they had their own problems. This is another wonderful story of hurt, love, second chances, and forgiveness. I can’t wait for the next book in Legacy of Faith series.
I was given a complimentary ARC of this book , but was not told that I had to give positive review. All opinions are my own.

To me this book is about forgiveness. Jessica has to forgive her husband for his deceit and herself for per perceived fault in the car accident that claimed her husband and daughters lives. Ridley has to forgive those who should have stood up for him and those who wronged him and ruined his reputation. Then you go back to the 1930’s and visit Jessica’s great grandparents. Her great grandfather had a lot of things to forgive. I can’t say I’m a fan of books that skip back and forth between periods. I did enjoy reading the book and seeing how Jessica and Ridley worked things out.
I was give this book by Thomas Nelson Publishing by way of NetGalley for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
A heart warming book. Every day proubles, trust, forgiveness, and love. You will fall in love with everyone in this book.
I loved this book. Who I Am With You is one of those books I didn’t want to end. I fell in love with the characters and want to know the rest of the story. Robin Lee Hatcher writes her characters with depth and insight. I enjoyed both Jessica’s story and that of her grandfather. And I loved how the two connected through an old Bible. What a legacy! The town of Hope Springs sounds like some place I’d like to visit with its quaint downtown and surrounding mountains. The book as a whole is enjoyable and thought provoking with a beautiful spiritual thread woven throughout. This is the first in a series. I’m excited for the second one to be published. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
