“Everyone likes a page-turner, and Follett is the best.” —The Philadelphia Inquirer“A hell of a storyteller” (Entertainment Weekly), #1 New York Times bestselling author Ken Follett reinvents the thriller with each new novel. But nothing matches the intricate knife-edge drama of Whiteout. . . . A missing canister of a deadly virus. A lab technician bleeding from the eyes. Toni Gallo, the … technician bleeding from the eyes. Toni Gallo, the security director of a Scottish medical research firm, knows she has problems, but she has no idea of the nightmare to come.
As a Christmas Eve blizzard whips out of the north, several people, Toni among them, converge on a remote family house. All have something to gain or lose from the drug developed to fight the virus. As the storm worsens, the emotional sparks—jealousies, distrust, sexual attraction, rivalries—crackle; desperate secrets are revealed; hidden traitors and unexpected heroes emerge. Filled with startling twists at every turn, Whiteout rockets Follett into a class by himself.

not up to Follet’s usual par.
Not at all realistic.
Sort of a modern high-tech version of Eye of the Needle – lots of suspense in a remote setting. A very good read, though.
This was definitely an excellent read, fast moving, keeping the interest level high. My only real criticism is that the relationship between Toni Gallo and her love interest is not very well developed, and, as such, does not evolve logically.
Really a page turner. Good writing. Great story. I’ve liked all of his books.
Follett always delivers a good book. Takes place in Scotland with a kick-butt, solid heroine. Many diverse characters that were well developed with many foibles centering around a man, his company and family. It takes a good woman to whip everything into shape and save-the-day. While good, it felt a bit overboard, ficticious and improbable. Fast paced with a whole lot of side stories, a little humor, a little sex, a lot of action.
As with almost all of Ken Follett’s books….a must read!
Not one of his better works.
Whiteout is one of those books you really want to get back to. The characters and the plot are engaging and at times… when I get too involved with the plot changes and the danger to the characters… I have to put it down to cool off… I get so worried about them. Now that is what makes for a great book… Thank you Mr. Follet
All of Ken follett’s books are wonderful, when I start one I can hardly put it down. Interesting, surprising, heart felt, there are not enough words to express how great they are.
Any book by this author is a joy to read..
See above.
I am a major Ken Follet fan and have read everything he has written. I just finished the second reading of this book and zI enjoyed it just as much as the first time years ago. Follet knows how to develop a story around richly developed characters. This book is no exception.
Not Follets best effort
If you like suspense this book is for you.
First time reading this author will be coming back for more as soon as I can find a good one that’s for sure.
Pretty boring. Didn’t finish it.
If you love Ken Follett, as I do, and missed this book, it’s a fun, easy read.
Ken Follett is a great author and has, again, told a very well-written and well-developed story.
Great read
