An Amazon Charts bestseller. In the shadows of World War II, trust becomes the greatest risk of all for two strangers.December 1943. In the years before the rise of Hitler, the Gerber family’s summer cottage was filled with laughter. Now, as deep drifts of snow blanket the Black Forest, German dissenter Franka Gerber is alone and hopeless. Fervor and brutality have swept through her homeland, … swept through her homeland, taking away both her father and her brother and leaving her with no reason to live.
That is, until she discovers an unconscious airman lying in the snow wearing a Luftwaffe uniform, his parachute flapping in the wind. Unwilling to let him die, Franka takes him to her family’s isolated cabin despite her hatred for the regime he represents. But when it turns out that he is not who he seems, Franka begins a race against time to unravel the mystery of the airman’s true identity. Their tenuous bond becomes as inseparable as it is dangerous. Hunted by the Gestapo, can they trust each other enough to join forces on a mission that could change the face of the war and their own lives forever?

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It opened my eyes a little more as to what people went through during that time as well as seeing some parallels in todays political arena.
Good historical fiction!
A twist to a WWII story
I enjoyed this book, which incorporated a bit of the “other side” of the Nazi regime in war-time Germany.
Excellent read about the paths of two people crossing and the amazing adventure they go on together.
It was a page turner, always wondering what would happen next.
excellent book
I couldn’t put it down. Author writes the inner thoughts of main characters and you are left wondering how it will turn out. Another picture of life behind the lines in WWII. It’s a keeper
I loved this book. I like ‘Eoin Dempsey’s’ writing..I couldn’t put it down. I would highly recommend this book.
Not a history buff, but this story was excellent.
Such a good book. Couldn’t put it down!
Riveting…at times I had to set the book down and take a break because my heart was beating so fast. The complexities of war and internal turmoil was brought out in such a vivid way. I will probably go back and read it again.
The story was well-told and kept me wanting more.
