White Magic Woman
by Ju Ephraime
Ju Ephraime is such a talented writer. I really enjoy the characters she crafts along with the amazing supernatural situations they encounter. The White Magic Woman is such a great compliment to her books in that they share a world while being so realistic they still maintain some distinct identities. One of the things I like so much is the very unique characters and their perspective. Ju Ephraime Paranormal books are very different from your norm. Yet her book features a complex story, plenty of suspense, character development and just a subtle hint of romance. White Magic Woman isn’t bad it will keep you engaged with all of the mysterious things that happen to Todd’s life, but here’s the thing, while I enjoyed Todd and Simonia’s characters to a certain point, both of them had very annoying tendicies. Todd Montgomery is a newly married man, who happy with his life. He job as a research scientist takes him all over the world. Simonia is a dancer who is passionately in love with her husband, Todd, and lives for the moments they can spend together. Yet at the first sign of trouble he regressed back to a typical man and don’t tell his wife what’s happening to him. I don’t understand this if they have always discuss their problems. Why not tell your wife when it’s a culture she and her family believes in. But I still enjoyed White Magic Woman. This book does delves deeper into the realistic culture of Voodoo and tell you how to essentially destroy the witch and rebuild your love life with your partner basically returning the love to your world, but you must realize the jumping off point isn’t the romance, so once you think supernatural investigation than the book gets more intriguing, with the focus on the effect which is the witch’s obsession. Sometimes I wonder if it would be possible for me to ever not enjoyed an Ju Ephraime books. Because every time I pick one up, it satisfies me like nothing else can. Thankfully (for me!) The book is discussed which made it more interesting as a supernatural, along with the sexual scenes which is steamy hot and oh do the sparks fly between them it’s blazing hot. I enjoyed everything about this book especially some part raise the hair on my neck. As I’ve already covered the heroine but for the most part there are two with the white magic woman being on. Todd is one heck of a hero. He is alpha male but stubborn. His world defines by his abilities to love Simonia and her family, but Simonia sees him as the love of her life. There is a little romance but his love of her with her family he’s amazing. Some of the best parts of the book for me are in the moments that he trusts his wife’s grandfather with how to get rid of the White Magic Woman along with his feelings for Simonia they could actually capture their life not just for him ,but for Simonia and everyone he considers his family. But like all of the books Ju Ephraime writes the world building is fantastic along with the consistent of her characters. I enjoyed all of Simonia’s family power and the way her grandfather wields it right along with his traditional supernatural weapons. Simonia ’s gift is pretty amazing too. Speaking of which, the supporting cast of characters are strong; I enjoyed Simonia’s family. Plus don’t forget the sexy-times they are steamy hot, there is only a little romance but what’s there gives you everything you can ever want, and the ending is so totally satisfying. I highly recommend this book. But for some the subject matter will not have enough romance, plus the book will give you better insight of the realistic subject of Voodoo, it gives you more depth into the characters and book. I sincerely hope you get as much enjoyment out of the this book as I have.
