What a book! With uproarious characters and stellar wit, this author has done it again with her latest storyline giving strong women a voice and a way to show off their sassy sides. Ryan is an ER doctor who is dealing with the loss of his wife and being left to raise his young daughter Callie. She may be young but she is very mature for her age and quite capable. Sadie is a sheriff’s deputy whose own past makes her a kindred spirit with Ryan’s daughter and others like her. While Ryan and his daughter are dealing with the change that their family has been through, his in-laws are not playing nice. His mother in law just refuses to adhere to some boundaries when it comes to Callie’s care and will do some outrageous things to push Ryan’s buttons. This is one book that illustrates the sad fact of what transpires in some families when they are unable to work together and how sometimes a child becomes a pawn. Filled with drama, action, love and healing makes it a book to one click and start reading immediately. I am looking forward to reading the next book.
I volunteered to read an advance copy and all opinions are my own.
I loved this book. Ryan and Sadie are a terrific pair and both of them have challenging jobs. They don’t hesitate to drop what they are doing when his little girl needs one or both of them. But that former mother-in-law…that woman is toxic. Great book!
Sadie is a kick butt take charge kind of lady, that works as a motorcycle deputy. When she has a chance run in with Ryan, a doctor at the local ER, he leaves a lasting impression. The moment that she ends up saving his daughter, that means it’s fate. Is it too soon for Ryan to move on from his wife? Can the two make something work with all the drama that seems to ensue?
This was a great introduction to the Iron Badges series. With some drama, nice naughty bits, and some really cute moments, this ending up being very entertaining. I give this 4 stars.
Dr. Ryan and Sadie will have you all up in this story. He lost his wife and is raising a daughter where as Sadie lost her mother at a very young. They meet at an accident where a missing girl will change her life. She is independent and takes no mess. Will her feistiness’ bring these two together and will Dr. Ryan be able to put his past behind for a second chance for happiness.
2.5 “Meh” Stars
I really loved the premise of a badass chick, a motorcycle deputy no less, and a single dad doctor finding their HEA. However, Book’em Sadie just didn’t deliver for me.
I liked both Ryan and Sadie well enough, and they did have good chemistry together. Callie, Ryan’s 6-year-old daughter had lots of airtime, and while I usually love this in my books, I felt that everything was moving way too fast in this case. The fact that she kept running away and all the drama her maternal relatives brought to the story made me feel like she was more of a plot device than an actual character.
The fact that I snagged Book’em Sadie for free helped me get to the end and not want to hit my head on my kindle. I did have some fun, but most of the time I found myself rolling my eyes at Ryan’s lack of alphaness regarding his dead wife’s family who were totally horrendous and did not have his daughter’s best interest at heart.
The conclusion of the story was way too perfect and easy given all the drama involved. By the end, I felt completely meh about the whole book. Summing up, I sort of liked some aspects of the story but overall; it missed a lot of spots. It simply wasn’t the book for me.
Sadie and Ryan meet when there’s an accident in from of the hospital. Sadie’s a motorcyle cope and ryan is a doctor. He’s widowed and has a 6 year old daughter. She’s enamored with Sadie cause she’s everything Callie wants to be. But the ex mother-in-law and sister-in-law are trying to stop this budding relationship and manipulating callie. So much going on. Excellent read.
He was a doctor and she was a motorcycle detective. Surprisingly they had a lot in common.
Fun read. Loved that there are strong women and they know how to cuss and have each other’s back.
I enjoyed this book. The author did a good job of developing the story.
This book was an eye opener for me as it pretained to losing a spouse and having to deal with said spouse’s family in the aftermath. I really enjoyed it.
Story moved along well. Would have been a four star, except at the end the in-laws do a 180% personality turn around, which made no sense.
Really enjoyed this story. Some parts was so funny; couldn’t stop laughing!!
The story is nice but my head was spinning from the police codes.
The first in the Iron Orchids Badges series came out of the gate like it was on fire. What a way to start. The characters were both lovable and the tension created by several dramatic moments kept this story moving along so that I could not put it down. Funny, heartwarming, intense action, steamy.
quick read, I really enjoyed it
My first book by this author and I enjoyed it.
I listened to this in audio and also enjoyed the narration.
Sadie is a deputy who rides a motorcycle, she’s a strong independent woman which I like in a heroine, she’s straight talking and knows what she wants in life.
Sadie first meets Doctor Ryan Montgomery following a car incident when he takes over from her with a dying passenger, despite the circumstances there’s an instant attraction.
They meet again when Ryan’s daughter goes missing. Ryan is a single widowed father with an interfering mother in law who starts to cause him endless problems especially when he starts to date Sadie, she sees Sadie as a threat to her daughter’s memory
A good balance in the story, it’s a page turner with drama, hotness and it all leads to a heartwarming hea
An enjoyable story, I will definitely read more in this series with these strong independent women
Totally enjoyable read! Great story with wonderful characters!
Out of the ordinary flavor, i liked the wit and frankness of the motorcycle club, so can see that language being use.
Knowing what a widower/widow goes through trying to get through grief and live again, I loved this book. Hope and hotness.
I liked this book. I wanted to find out what was going to happen to the characters page after page. Oftentimes books are predictable so I will move on to something else but I got the next book in the series Book em Bridget. Liked it also
