That’s not a role I’ve ever played. But when the Casso crime family shifts into uncharted territory, they’re looking for a new hero, and they’re looking for me—Cannon Freeman, the black sheep. But my time in disgrace is at … sheep.
But my time in disgrace is at an end.
It’s my turn to rise up and save the people who matter most to me.

More than anything, I will not let her fall.
White Knight is the second book in the Dirty Mafia Duet and should be read after Black Sheep, book one.

This is the second book in this series. You will need to read book #1, Black Sheep (Dirty Mafia Duet #1), as this book #2 picks up right where it ended.
We continue our story with Memphis (Drew) and Cannon.
This plot is filled with twist and turns, shocking revelations. Ms. March knows how to keep the reads interest. Memphis learns some shocking news about herself, who she really is. Cannon’s father seems to finally bring him in more closer as his son. It was nice to see all the characters connected to Dom Casso all of his “bastard kids” and knowing the story behind them.
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
Meghan March NEVER disappoints. And White Knight was an entertaining and exceptional conclusion to the Dirty Mafia Duet!
Meghan March is without question one of my favorite authors and I never miss an opportunity to read her work. And I’ve never been happier about that fact that I have been since I read the conclusion to the Dirty Mafia Duet, White Knight. Cannon and Drew’s story was everything—compelling, sexxxy, suspenseful, page-turning, lightly angsty, intricate and ugh…sooo. much. more!!! It’s written beautifully with a plot that readers are sure to want to read start to finish in one sitting—I totally couldn’t put down either book! And the minute White Knight hit my kindle I dropped everything to read! The characters—Cannon and Drew—commanded my attention from the very beginning and I was fascinated with their dynamics. You’ll find Cannon, the hero, to be a rock-solid and steady. He’s the kinda guy that will make you fall head over heels for a fictional character! And Drew!? Wow, I am still completely stunned by the level of girl crush I have on this heroine. Truth be told, I’d be completely surprised if anyone doesn’t love her because she’s inspiring in her pursuit of justice and her unwavering loyalty. The Dirty Mafia Duet is absolutely a five-star read and not to be missed.
Meghan March is one of my absolute favorite authors — like I don’t even have to read any of her reviews — I just order the books when they come out. Binge reading any of her series just makes my weekend! This “Dirty Mafia Duet” includes : Black Sheep and White Knight (must read both).
Unlikely hero is Cannon Freeman — the “clean” son of a mafia boss. Drew Carson (AKA Memphis/AKA — you will have to read it to believe it) is an investigative journalist looking to take down the mob to avenge her father’s death. I know typical mafia story with lots of shooting, etc. But the love story is what hooks you! Meghan has a way to get you to love some of the bad guys when the right good girl comes along.
Memphis is undercover as a waitress in Cannon’s club — hoping to take him and his family down. Only one problem — she gets caught up in love with her target — Cannon. Meghan writes the most fascinating, strong, female leads in her stories and they completely swoon those gorgeous intense men! No exception here.
The story is thrilling and absolutely no way can you put the book down! I binged both books over the weekend. Dom’s birthday party is a little scary and I had several “aha” moments that tied lots of other Meghan March hero/heroines to our Cannon/Memphis duet. If you have read her other series — all types of past couples show up, too!
Put these on your “must read” list and you will be a Meghan March fan forever!
This is the second book in Meghan March’s Dirty Mafia Duet series.
Cannon Freeman is the illegitimate son of New York City’s biggest mobster. He’s straddling the line between legitimate business owner and a life of crime. Memphis Lockwood (aka Drew) is a reporter who is undercover investigating Cannon’s family. She thinks his family orchestrated her father’s death. Memphis/Drew gets a job at Cannon’s club and is immediately distracted by her feelings for him.
The romance between Cannon and Memphis was established in book one. There’s not much emotional angst between the main characters in book two. This book is mainly about how the plot line develops–who killed Memphis’ dad, will a Mafia war start, will Cannon step up and lead The Family. Without giving anything away, there were a lot of interesting plot twists in the second book.
Meghan March delivers a worthy mafia romance if that is your thing.
Seriously, you can not go wrong reading one of Meghan March’s books!!!! This one is fabulous!! Cannon and Memphis are like fireworks on the Fourth of July!!
You bet that after that cliffhanger ending of book one, which I’m telling you had my heart stopping for a few minutes, I dived into this story like a woman needing her next fix.
The story continued where it left off, with bated breath and on the edge of my seat wanting to know what will happen. Ms. March again didn’t disappoint with her engaging storyline and characters. The complex twists and turns and reappearance of previous characters lend depth to this another page turner read. The chemistry between Cannon and Drew is still as scintillating like before but more as feelings fully developed all through the story. I loved it and could not wait for another amazing read from this author!
I’m so happy, pleased and overjoyed with the happily-ever-after than Cannon Freeman ended up with. My heart is bursting even now, hours after finishing it.
From the start of this duet, Cannon has help my heart. The guy was so worthy of everything good that could come his way, but being the “black sheep” of the family or having an incredibly dangerous mob boss for father made it hard for things to go his way.
His whole life, he wanted his father’s approval and it wasn’t until Memphis came into his life he didn’t have the strength or gumption to go against him. But for Memphis he was willing to risk hellfire in order to protect her. That caused a chain reaction to not only put others at risk but widened his father’s tunnel vision when it came to Cannon.
Honestly, when he finally got the acknowledgment/recognition he has been striving for…my heart melting for him. He finally got the respect he’d been asking for and it was incredible to see the shift in the relationship he had with his father. And Memphis was there to support him as well as stand up for him the whole way.
White Knight was emotional and suspenseful and the perfect conclusion to Cannon and Memphis’ story.
AH-MAZ-ING!!! I’m absolutely intoxicated with White Knight by Meghan March.
Being able to finally finish Cannon’s story, part two of the Dirty Mafia Duet was mind blowing to say the least.
Cannon Freeman has always been the black sheep in the Casso crime family, so when tables turn and family is put in danger is he able to put aside his differences and rise to the responsibility.
What’s more, can he look past and protect the girl who has taken his heart?
When secrets are revealed has Cannon got what it takes?
Oh wow, what a ride. I can’t count the times I was on the the edge of my seat or wanting to happy dance with all the excitement I couldn’t contain.
I don’t know how it’s possible that with every book Meghan writes, it becomes more addictive than he last.
This will be a duet book hangover I’ll have for a long time.
I highly recommend this.
I loved it his book Megan keeps me coming back for more.
To say that I was waiting impatiently for this book after the cliffhanger in book one is a HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT! Meghan March continues to be the queen of keeping you on your toes, and waiting, for whatever is going to happen next, with baited breath!!
I was definitely reading as fast as possible and everytime you think you know what comes next…..BOOM! SHE BLOWS YOUR MIND! I will give away zero details. I absolutely never do that was Meghan’s books because she is hands down the only author that I can never figure out what’s coming next! I love the unpredictably. It’s so refreshing. Yet another due that hit a grand slam!!
Meghan March does it again! Another jaw dropping duet that leaves you on edge, gripping the seat and holding your breath! Phenomenal writing and page turning suspense!
At the end of Black Sheep, it seemed that the shit had finally hit the proverbial fan, forcing Drew to come clean about who she is and what she came to Cannon for…I wasn’t quite sure how things would play out between them once Cannon learned the truth, but the way that March brings all of the information to the forefront and has Drew and Cannon work together along with a few unlikely allies changed my perspective on quite a few characters and also left me feeling quite a bit awestruck with how March unraveled everything about Drew’s father’s murder, Dom Casso’s true feelings about his children and other important players in his organization as well as the person who brought most of the truth of things into the light.
The idea Drew always wearing a facade or taking on a persona resonates in her words and her actions as well as the way she hides her true face and eyes from everyone, even herself. It definitely takes a while for Drew to come into her own, but with Cannon by her side, helping her to find a truth she’s dedicated every part of herself to, losing bits of herself along the way, but thankfully, Cannon truly sees her for who she is and he’s more than determined that she be who she was always meant to be with him and with everyone they hold dear.
I loved watching Cannon figure out that he’s always been his own man and that he could never become like his father because his mother’s love and faith in him guide his words and actions, even if they’re in a setting that his father runs. Cannon definitely had a dark edge to him, but he’s far more grounded than he gives himself credit for and the fact that those around him finally take notice and work to mend broken relationships as well as make amends for how certain things play out proves that Cannon doesn’t have to try to step into his father’s shoes…he just has to worry about maintaining his own and fulfilling the life that his mother always wanted for him.
The complicated dynamics of Cannon and his half-siblings is one that truly illustrates Dom’s control and his refusal to not dictate every aspect of his children’s lives, especially Cannon’s, and while the others have found their way out of the fold on their own terms and with their own lives, what Dom has done to Cannon’s relationship with Creighton and his second rate classification when it comes to how Dom sees Cannon and his position in the family left me ragey, but I will say that how things play out toward the end of White Knight made me want to reassess, albeit only a little bit, how I viewed Dom and his words and actions throughout the duet.
Meghan March continues to bring stories with heat, conflict, and suspense, illustrating the world in which her characters live to be one wrought with danger, darkness, secrets, and revelations that not only upend everything the hero and heroine once thought but also put their lives in jeopardy as they work toward an amicable resolution.
White Knight is absolutely the ending I wanted for Cannon and Drew; it was every bit the twisty, suspenseful, and revealing resolution fitting for Danger and his girl.
4.5 Poison Apples
White Knight picks up right where Black Sheep left off, with Cannon having to decide if he’s going to comply with Dom’s edict. The question for the reader, though, is who the person is that Dom wants Cannon to take care of? Of course we’re all hoping it’s not Drew…
This conclusion to the Dirty Mafia Duet is even better than Black Sheep, if possible. It’s got so many twists and revelations, and it’s suspenseful as hell. And Cannon and Drew build into a solidly in love couple whose chemistry is even hotter now that her secrets are out in the open (well the big one that is). Although I have loved almost all of Meghan’s alphas, I gotta say that I think Cannon is my favorite. He’s an alpha with a heart. I know I already said this in my review of Black Sheep, but I have to reiterate it. Cannon is such a great character. He’s layered and complicated, he’s tough and commanding, but his biggest, most impressive trait is his compassionate heart. And Drew is the lucky woman he gives that heart to. She’s worthy of it, though, so I’m glad to say I fell in love with both of them. And that epilogue…awwwww, so sweet. Now that this fabulous duet is over, I cannot wait for Gabriel Legend in The Fall of Legend!
Jaw-dropping good book!!! This was the epic conclusion from Black Sheep and it picked right up where book one of the duet left off. I was really invested in Drew and Cannon’s story. This was an action packed, gripping story that had me captivated from the beginning. The book was full of twists and turns steamy scenes and so much more! I can’t wait to see with this author has in store for us next especially getting a glimpse of another character. I highly recommend this book after reading Black Sheep!!
Meghan March knows how to captivate you with her story and leave little threads dangling in front of you while you read and then she pulls them when you least expect it giving you a rush of emotion.
I absolutely loved the conclusion to Cannon and Drew’s {Memphis} story. There was a whirlwind of emotion in this story for both of our main characters and they were both faced with tough choices which affected more than just the two of them. You get a wonderful love story wrapped in old world tradition and suspense and drama along the way.
Can’t wait to see what Meghan has in store for us next !
Great book 2 of the duet! I got what I needed to know and I couldn’t have loved it more! Cannon is HOT!! I think Meghan March’s books get better by each series, duet or trilogy!
“wasn’t supposed to feel things.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for him.
What the hell do I do now”
Ahhhh, I did not want this duet to end. You fall more in love with some characters, feel increased loathing for others, gain understanding and empathy for some that you thought you had pegged differently.
“…if you tell me that it’s the only penance you’ll accept, I’ll try to find the strength to walk away from this. Either option leaves me with a broken heart, and I figure I’ve earned that for what I did.”
This book is filled with mystery, revenge, secrets, forgiveness, discovery, retribution and alpha goodness…along side a strong heroine.
“I can handle anything you throw at me. Anything. If you think you’re gonna break, you tell me, and I’ll hold you together. That’s what this is. You and me. The real thing.”
Meghan delivered a great conclusion to Cannon and Drew’s story. The secrets, mystery, danger and more kept me completely engrossed into this book!! I couldn’t get enough. The more my questions were answered, the more I had and I was on the edge of my seat. Not only do we have that but relationships are formed, repaired and grown into more.
Another great duet and another reason why I can’t get enough of Meghan’s books!!
An Epic Conclusion, to an Extraordinary Duet!!
What an epic conclusion to the Dirty Mafia Duet! Author Meghan March brings the angst and the raw emotions out in such an amazing and talented way, that you can feel your heart pounding.
White Knight is completely engrossing; compelling. intense, and fascinating. A riveting story that’ll have you flipping the pages non-stop, and at the edge of your seat the entire time!
The author did an exceptional job with her vivid and endearing storytelling, and I absolutely recommend this fantastic duet!!
This duet was everything I wanted it be for Cannon! I have been waiting so long for his story (ever since he crashed Rose’s baptism) and Meghan March did not disappoint: action packed, passionate, suspenseful, sly, steamy…so so good! I actually waited until both books were published before bingeing because i knew I wanted it all at once. It was wonderful to see Creighton and Holly, Greer and Cav, Eden and Bishop again and to get some family resolution amongst them all.
Now, if Ms March would like to write about the life and loves of Dom Casso-I’m totally here for it!!
