An Avon Romance

This isn’t out until May 2017 but as soon as I got the ARC I had to read it. There are so many feelings here and laughter from the dialogue only makes it better.
Even better than the first! Nevada and Connor continue to deliver with the action/adventure while off-screen their personal relationship gets steamier as they learn to trust and rely on each other. Love how Andrews does the development of romance in their series. Also wonderful supporting cast!! I’m looking forward to while also saddened to see the end looming with #3. Heartily recommend this series!
Audiobook
Andrews’ ?!!?!??! How could you end it like that ? Wicked, pure wicked and I loved it. I did mutter some not kind words at the time, sorry. I actually went back to check that I hadn’t forgot to download the whole audio, twice. I was in shock at the time. Once again WICKED ! LOL If you have not read this, get book 3 Wildfire before you start this there is one smack down cliffhanger ending that will leave you screaming for answers.
You want to know about the book ? No, read it, don’t ruin it with snippets or spoiler reviews. You know it is action packed, Mad Rogan and Nevada couldn’t handle less. You know it is sexy, hello, Mad and Nevada, chemistry plus. You also know that there are twisty twists that will keep you up all night reading, so load up on coffee before starting. I’ll give you a little something, everything in the story evolves. There now you feel informed, go buy the books and enjoy.
Mad Rogan is mine FYI 😀
Nevada and Rogan’s saga continues. While there is a sameness in this author’s characters, they all make me care what happens to them. I admit Nevada is no Kate Daniels, but once I got past that, I began to appreciate her for who she is.
I love this author team and this was another 5 star book from them. I stayed up late reading it because I couldn’t bring myself to put it down. I loved the heroine, she is smart, plucky, yet has a good heart. I love that she doesn’t just go in smashing and killing the enemy. She has a conscience and thinks about consequences, like “We can’t do that, there families and children in there!” or “I can’t do that, it would damage him permanently, he’s a friend!” She is the voice of reason in a sometimes harsh world. So good to see that! The hero is damaged but willing to work on things and it’s a hard thing along with that big ego of his. Loved it, can’t wait for the next to come out!
Nevada and Rogan are back together and working on another case! They are tracking down bad guys and kicking ass. Their relationship becomes stronger with each passing moment but new issues arrive. I can’t wait to see where them working through their issues and becoming stronger together.
I loved all the different kinds of abilities shown in this one, especially Cornelius’s ability with animals. Also we finally get to see some of the Baylor kids abilities. I can’t wait to see what else they are able to do.
Illona Andrews is one of my favorite authors. This book is a good example of why. I read the first one, this one, and will happily continue with the series. Their characters always seem like real people, with flaws and quirks. There is always heart, humor, great action, well crafted plots, character development, and excellent writing.

White Hot is book two in the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews.
An unforgettable and monuments adventure.
OMG! WOW! Outstanding! Yes! I want more…
I had chills reading this. It’s soooo good. Nevada is getting deeper into the mystery of who she is, deeper into the Houses world and politics, and the plot thickens. Something big is happening. When you think you have things figured out the author throws out a curveball. Nevada didn’t see or plan for some of the possibilities that arise. Now she has some hard life choices to make that will affect her and her family.
The romance was wonderful. Her relationship with Conner is changing in a big way and she starts to see him in a different light. I loved seeing Conner and Nevada come together and make strides in their not so relationship, that turns into something more. Their sexual tension was strong in book one, Burn for Me, but here it lights the city up.
I have to say the epilogue, girl squeal! And the end, OMG the author drops a big bomb.
As always the Andrews team delivered a sensational story. White Hot is packed full. Their is no shortage of action, plot, humor, and romance. This whole book will keep you on your toes, throw curveballs at you, and at the end all you want is more, more, more. All I wanted to do was read the book all over again. I’m on pins and needles waiting for the last and final installment, Wildfire.

One more time, what is it with the MOST RIDICULOUS AND HORRENDOUS COVER? This is the worst photoshop work I have ever seen in my life and these books are SO GOOD! It makes me want to make a cover myself and change this to make this experience more worth it. Thank God I am a kindle reader, I wouldn’t buy these books for the cover, not even if Mad Rogan himself forced me to. Well…on a second thought…
Mad EFFING ROGAN is EVERYTHING. I am sorry, I will have to act like a desperate, stupid, teenage fangirl because I SIMPLY CANNOT with this man. The entire character selection in these books is outstanding. Every character has layers, they are all funny, intelligent, motivated, insightful and so real. I can picture all of them (they’re so real!!) while they coexist. Everything about Nevada’s family and her relationships is so organic, it flows so well.
I have no complaints about the plot, the characters, the pacing, the flow, everything is magnificent. The only reason this did not get a five start rating from me is because I need to start being mode diligent with my five-stars. I want to start saving them for mind-blowing books. Even though I am personally in love and obsessed with the Hidden Legacy series, I can see why this might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Thrilling! Exciting! So creative and funny, heart-warming at times, sensual without being too smutty. This was such a huge adventure in one of my favorite styles – police/investigation romance. I could not put it down. As Jennifer Armentrout would say “this is a forget-your-homework, don’t-feed-your-kids, and quit-your-job one-sit read.” I finished it in a day because there was nothing else I’d rather do than to follow Nevada around, feeling so damn proud of how much she has grown already. There is nothing I would rather do than to sit down and re-read all of her witty, engaging and funny conversations with Rogan. There is nothing I would rather do than just have Rogan scenes again, and again, and again, and again.
“I finally understood why he was called Mad Rogan. It wasn’t because he was insane. It was because he drove you nuts with sheer frustration.” I JUST WANT TO SCREAM WITH HOW MUCH I LOVE ROGAN AND NEVADA. This sweet couple who wrote this series (how awesome is that? writing something with your significant other), they just get me. We have the same sense of humor, the same ideas of what right and wrong is, the same excitement around magic, powers and ferrets. This was SO MUCH fun and I can tell my 2021 will be FILLED with Ilona Andrews books, I cannot and will not stop reading their stuff.
I am so consumed by this world and I love it even more because the setting of this world takes place in Houston, TX.
This book just outdid Burn For Me and I was crazy for it! White Hot picks up a couple of months after the ending of book one and I would suggest reading them in order. There is so much information you miss, not to mention a bad ass story, but you get to watch Nevada explore her powers. She’s pushing that boundary just a little more and I cannot wait until she unleashes her full wrath on an enemy.
Nevada and Rogan are at a constant push and pull. Their banter is creating so much sexual tension that I’m about to explode. Well…I guess I kinda did. The moment these two finally give into their feelings happens after Nevada has a close encounter with death. These two have finally acknowledged their love for one another and I’m here for it!
We get to know Cornelius and Nevada’s employer as they both play vital roles in White Hot. Cornelius has employed Nevada for a personal matter. Nevada’s employer keeps handing out cases that seem like the impossible, but this woman always goes for the win.
Rogan and Nevada save the city once again
It”s been two months since Rogan and Nevada saved downtown Houston. Nevada hasn’t seen Rogan since.
Her new case she is going to need his help.
Cornelius Harrison’s helped Nevada when she was investigating Adam Price. His beloved wife was murdered. The house she worked for has covered it up. The Harrison house is small, and Cornelius has distanced himself from them. Augustine refers him to Nevada. She agrees to help. Cornelious wants to deal with her killer.
Then they learn that Rogan’s team were working protection. He takes the loss of his people personally. All they know is they are hunting an prime ice mate and manipulator. Cornelious and Rogan strike an agreement between houses.
The why has ties to the same people who were behind Adam.
Nevada’s power is growing stronger. She has come to the attention of someone powerful and dangerous to her family.
Once again Rogan and Nevada are in a fight to save the city and their selves.
Cornelius gets his chance at vengeance, with some unexpected help from Nevada’s sisters.
Rogan and Nevada ‘s ordeal has pushed her to face her feelings him. The possibility of setting up her own house. She hires her her first non family employee.
Fast paced and a little steamy, urban fantasy. Ends in a cliffhanger.
Great heroine and supporting cast, quirky, smart, with a heart of gold. She is so emotionally sane and healthy, it is a delight to get to know her more. Mix this with a strong alpha type male, intrigue and massive action scenes – it is great reading.
Another really great story in the Hidden Legacy Series. I’ve only read one other book in this series before. Sapphire Flames was really great and got me super interested in Nevada and her family.
I didn’t realize until I got to the end of the book that this is a husband and wife writing team. And what a great job they do together.
What can I say? I loved Nevada and Rogan. They weren’t anywhere the normal people living normal lives. Oh Nevada thinks she’s normal and striving hard to hold everything together. But she’s just fooling herself and will eventually have to face it.
The main characters and others are written in depth and complexity. The world building, the magic world, the different magic powers and Houses were also written in depth and with great imagination. It was very descriptive without being boring. It was one heck of a wild ride. It was intense with surprise after surprise being dished out.
A lot of things get answered and dealt with but there is also a known danger still lurking out there as well. It comes from a relative that was nothing but more danger aimed her and her family’s way. But that will hopefully be dealt with in another book.
This world full of magic and conspiracy is fast paced, action packed, humorous and romantic.
Rogan and Nevada are still dancing around each other, but unable to suppress their feelings. Nevada’s new investigation reveals a conspiracy where mystery and danger abide. Despite their differences, Rogan is always there to watch her back. They find themselves in some sticky situations and the fights that follow are vividly described. When Nevada’s family are threatened, all bets are off. Who are the masterminds behind those threats and dangerous attacks?
Reading the interactions between Nevada and Rogan is fun and mesmerising. The new developments in other members of the family are gobsmacking. Leon brings that special something with his mysterious and fun contribution to the big battle. The whole story is captivating. As soon as one threat is eliminated, another one surfaces.
I look forward to reading the next installment to see the progress of Nevada’s new discoveries and the effects they have on Nevada’s and Rogan’s relationship.
Burn For Me left us with a bit of a cliffhanger and while that issue isn’t completely resolved here, we have a heck of a journey while trying to do so. There is just so much here that I loved.
Just a few of the things I loved:
Nevada’s fierce independence and her need for it, not just to take care of her family, but so that she can stand on equal ground with Connor Rogan.
Her family and how they are just so real and yet magical too (no pun intended) because they realize they only have each other and they treasure that even while they’re driving each other crazy.
The total cute overload of a little girl asking Rogan for help and the heartache of her father that she soothes with a gentle touch and sweet words.
Grandma pulling out all the stops to protect her family and then claiming Rogans ATVs with nothing more than a spray can.
Leon’s entertaining commentary that, after reading, I just had to listen to on audio and laughing hysterically while the narrator brought this young boy to full life in doing so.
The sparks and fire and sizzling chemistry whenever Nevada and Connor are anywhere in the same vicinity. The fact that he is one hundred percent alpha and while a part of him wants to scoop her up and simply claim, he holds himself back because of what she needs and his own fears of what he won’t be able to give her in the future.
There is so much more that I loved about this book. It’s filled with action, drama, intrigue and so much heart. I couldn’t put it down and stayed up very late into the night to avoid doing so.
Intriguing world building, intricate characters; a great continuation of the series
Book 2 in the Hidden Legacy series, I started this immediately after finishing book 1., which gives you an idea of how much I’m enjoying the series. Note while technically I think you could read this as a standalone, there’s an underlying plot line for the series, so it builds on events in Burn for Me with a lot of characters carrying over: I’d really recommend reading the series in order.
There’s plenty of mystery and action to keep the story moving right along as Nevada has a new case to solve, and there’s still the forces behind the conspiracy to destroy the current government who remain a threat. Meanwhile, Nevada has to face the truth of what we already suspected: she’s not just your average PI. She’s still struggling to learn the rules of magic and how to access it, something that most mages would have started learning as children. She also has to face her feelings for Rogan and figure out how best to protect her family as her sense of honor/morality forces her to step further into the limelight than she ever intended.
I love the character arc for Nevada, and that we get to learn a lot more about her family’s magic, and we get a lot more character development for Rogan as well. The world building continues to be stellar—as an animal lover, I loved the addition of Cornelius the animal mage, who we met briefly in book 1. I also loved how near the end, the authors took another piece of folklore and twisted it ever so slightly to fit it beautifully into their world.
Intriguing world building, intricate characters, mystery, magic, action and a little humor and romance all blend together into a great continuation of the series. Onto book 3! 5+ stars
Absolutely love the characters in this series. The writing is fast-paced and interesting. The characters very well developed–so much so that I’ve read this book more than once and enjoyed it each time. I love Nevada. She’s strong, capable and holds her own against everyone but her family. They make an incredible team.
Love this book!!!
I love this series so much. Nevada and Rogan are such an entertaining pair.
Wow! Just wow. I don’t know how they do it, but they create the BEST slightly insane protagonists ever. Rogan is coming close to Curran’s status as my favorite protective, control freak. I just love him. Nevada as well, because she’s just pure awesome, but Rogan makes my breath catch. I am never disappointed with an Ilona Andrews book. Can’t wait for the next one!
