One kiss could be the lastSeventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal—fit in at school, and go out on a real date with the gorgeous Zayne, whom she’s crushed on since forever. Trouble is, Zayne treats Layla like a sister—and Layla is anything but normal. She’s half demon, half gargoyle, with abilities no one else possesses. And even though Zayne is a Warden, part of the race of gargoyles … of the race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe, Layla’s kiss will kill anything with a soul—including him.
Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know her secrets. Though Layla knows she should stay away, it’s tough when that whole no-kissing thing isn’t an issue. Trusting Roth could ruin her chances with Zayne—and brand her a traitor to the Warden family that raised her. But as Layla discovers she’s the sole reason for a violent demon uprising, kissing the enemy suddenly pales in comparison to the looming end of the world

An interesting start to a new series. Though the book comes across as formulaic and stereotypical of the genre, I still found myself drawn in to this word of Wardens (Gargoyles) and Demons.
White Hot Kiss, the first installment of Armentrout’s The Dark Elements series, focuses on Layla, a teenage girl who is half Warden and half demon. She knows …
I am addicted to fantasy now. I had no idea how much I liked this genre, but apparently I do. Layla, the half demon/half warden, is pretty awesome and I can’t wait to see how her powers grow. The love triangle aspect isn’t something I’m loving though, maybe it will get better. While I am in love with Roth, I am not in love with Zayne yet. I …
So I finally got around to reading White Hot Kiss thanks to Jamsu! Since this book is part of the Audible Romance Package, I decided to listen to the audiobook!
It took me some time to understand the whole Gargoyles/Demons thing, since I haven’t really read any similar books. Getting to know Layla, Zayne and Roth was really interesting. The crush …
You have not lived until you have let Roth, Bambi, Nitro, Fury, Thor and Thumper into your life. Ok well, Layla is pretty awesome too. Annnnnddd Zayne too!
Let me start over again!
Layla is a unique being. She is not what everyone thinks. She has questionable parentage. Enough that she is isolated even in her unique predicament. Not fitting in …
Hmmmmm I really don’t even know where to start with this book.
I love JLA but this book was not doing it for me. The concept was absolutely amazing. Demons I’m in. Gargoyles…pssshhh I’m hella in. Put those two together and I ran out and bought it right away. Then I started reading it and I was like, Layla you are the most annoying and ignorant …
This is the first paranormal I’ve read since Twilight. Usually it’s not my thing but I truly enjoyed this.
I cannot rave enough about this book. It really is a great twist on the paranormal and it has delightfully sexy scenes without being too smutty for a YA novel. I highly recommend!
