We were bred in darkness. How else would we come to love?I was captured … That’s just the beginning of my tale. I’ve survived Purgatory, abuse, and near death. In that abandoned farmhouse I nearly lost everything, but Jacob saved me. We were trapped in this hell together, giving each other the strength to hold on. I fell into darkness with my captor’s son. Until I left him behind. She was … left him behind.
She was perfect, my Alana. Brilliant and full of pain. She understood my darkness and fueled the fire. When she left, I waited patiently to find her, and in her honor, I killed men who took away from innocents.
Then I found her…
She’s deadly now, a killer too, and perfectly mine. It was beautiful to behold, but she belongs in a cage. My cage. She’ll love me again, or I’ll expose her dirty secrets for the world to see while going down in flames with her.
In darkness, it’s most definitely till death do us part.
Warning: This book is full of triggers. It’s wicked dark, with created evil falling in love. People die. They are hurt horribly. The bad guys get away, and there is no apology for it.

I remember reading this book when I purchased it in 2018 and was amazed at how much I enjoyed this very dark read. The author’s imagination is definitely something else. Having said that I really felt sympathy for Jacob, having been brought up by his abusive and sick father. Alana on the other hand had been taken from her life and brought to this sick place. The scenes were horrific for her but I was not surprised she turned out to be the strong character she did, I did like the ending of the story. It does have a lot of triggers but it is a work of fiction even though somewhere in the world no doubt something like this is happening now for real.

This story had so many triggers so be warned. I have read worse so was not offended, but I don’t think people should read if kidnapping, rape, torture, violence, murder, and blood (amongst other things) bother you in a fictitious setting. This is a very dark story with even darker and broken characters.
That being said, it takes surviving living as the hands of a serial killer who kept Alana as his sexual slave for over a year to completely destroy the once innocent and naive girl she once was. Being brutally abused and repeatedly raped daily has left her a virtual shell of a person, with nothing but darkness and taint filling her. If not for her captor’s son, who is also forced to endure the same or worse abuse by his father’s hands, she would have ended it long ago. Together these two form a bond forged in blood and tears; but when it comes time to test the strength of that bond, Alana runs fearing her feelings for Jacob leaving him in the fallout.
Alana cannot out run the darkness inside her though. Her captor has irrevocably changed her; broken her. . . Now all she knows is vengeance and a soul deep passion that can’t be quenched. Bathing in the blood of evil doers helps . Her soul cries out for more and Jacob has been searching for her to fill the void in himself that she left in him. These two jagged pieces broken at the hands of a monster, will their dark hearts finally find solace with one another??
It’s a dark and painful journey. A psychological read that can warp and twist your mind as you try to process these two and their black and tortured loved for each other.

I’m on the fence a little with this book, it’s dark and psychological which I liked, but isn’t for everyone. I liked the idea behind the storyline, which attracted me, and I had wanted to read for a while. However I noticed a few issues with consistency within the storyline, which left me questioning things and for me effected the flow of the book. I felt that Alana/Nila kept referring to “the trial”, but not what trial, hers? Jacob’s? I got the impression hers, but couldn’t understand why, she was a victim. Some more details would have been good. I don’t live in the US, so maybe things are different in US in terms of the legal system to what I’m used to. Also it mentioned Alana was 18 when abducted and when she first saw Jacob her abductors son he looked to be around her age. Then she was 20 when they both escaped, however Jacob ended up in child protection system because he was now an orphan, it mentioned a orphanage. But if he was same age as Alana surely he was an adult at that, so wouldn’t have needed a orphanage. Also it mentioned before the orphanage that he had ended up in a young offenders unit. I just got confused, especially as he was as much a victim as Alana. I just feel everything around this area was important for the characters development and understanding of the storyline but wasn’t explained well.I
Later in the book the focused shifted greatly to the development of Jacob’s and Nila/Alana’s relationship, especially the physical side, and although this fitted the characters, I’d have liked more from the storyline, I found I started to disengaged and loose interest.
OMG!
“Whisper in the Dark” is a tale of the evil that lurks within. Alana is a teenager who was abducted on the way to school by a stranger and is forced to be the sex slave of a violent, depraved man. Jacob is this mans’ son and protégé. This dark and twisted tale leaves two broken souls in the wake of such brutality that reading it is hauntingly sad. “Whisper” will leave you emotions in tatters, your heart pounding and the lines between retribution and revenge blurred. This soul-stirring tale is an intense read and not for the faint of heart, but I do highly recommend this tale; if you can take it.

Be warned this read is dark and intense. Alana and Jacob survive the unimaginable at the hands of Jacob’s father. Alana is finally able to escape however Jacob is left behind. Eight years later Jacob finds her again and this time he plans on keeping her for himself. Both Alana and Jacob are broken but try to do good in their own way. The story really grips you from beginning to end. A difficult read but a very good one.
Great and wonderful book!
Highly recommend!
Awesome characters, great plot! Plenty of steam and darkness.

Alana is kidnaped when she is just 18 and used and abused by her captor. Jacob is her captors son, who knows of the brutality his father is capable of. Jacob and Alanas friendship grows closer and in an act of Love Jacob frees Alana killing his father. some years later they cross paths and are both ruthless killers but only to those who they deem deserve it. This book is dark! as you can expect from LeTeishas other works its a genre she thrives in writing. Well written with a captivating story line that has you on the edge of your seat but never want to put down! with suspense, violence, Rape, torture, desire and more!

This started off really well, but i think it just lost its way a bit and i started to lose interest which was a shame. I genuinely love dark romance and have very few triggers and it wasn’t for those reasons that i lost interest. it was just boring. The Storyline had so much potential, it was written well but needed to be better executed. The MMC Jacob was not as strong as he needed to be. He almost came across simple minded and this was a stark contrast to the MFC who was clearly very smart. Sorry on this occasion this just didn’t work for me.

Wow. Dark is right. I would categorize this as a psychological thriller with messed up romance. This book was intense to read. So hauntingly dark, but the undertone of Jacob and Alana’s relationship were love, not what most people experience in love, but a twisted love. I enjoyed this book and it was difficult to put down, but I am glad I read it.

I don’t know what to say about this book that won’t give anything away. It was darkest book I have ever read. I read a lot, and this book was just too much dark. It is filled with a lot of triggers and I definitely would not recommend if you don’t like dark dark books. Sometimes I had to put the book down because of how descriptive it is but it was a good book.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Trigger warning!!!! Super major trigger warning! This was my first read by this author and it will not be my last. This was dark, and I mean DARK. I don’t think I have ever read a book darker than this one. I’m not even sure if I would call this a romance. I couldn’t put this book down. It had me riveted to the pages. Jacob and Alana were…..well for lack of a better word evil. Like Bonnie and Clyde but darker and much more twisted. Blood, death, lust, destruction, and that ever present darkness. The HEA….more like happily evil after.
~WRITING – PLOT – PACE~
So this book was…INTERESTING. Saying I enjoyed it seems a bit weird. It was VERY dark. Maybe one of the darkest I have read to date. It would be wise to heed those trigger warnings because this isn’t a book to dip your “dark romance” toe into. That said, it was very well written. I struggled with the pace a bit. For me, it was a bit too long and slow in places. I think the plot could have been tightened up a bit. There were a lot of extra scenes that didn’t really add a lot to the overall story. Without them, I think the book would have moved along at a better pace. I loved the ending though.
~HERO~
JACOB…Not really sure what to say about him. He was a super f-cked up anti-hero. He suffered a lot and did a lot of bad stuff. But my heart kind of broke for him, especially in the first part. I don’t know that what happened to him excused his behavior, but it made his character a BIT more sympathetic.
~HEROINE~
ALANA…Alana’s character was a bit like having two different characters in one. The kidnapped Alana broke my heart. It was very hard at times to read all she had to go through. But she was a fighter, and I admired her courage and will to survive. I loved the bond her and Jacob shared. The after her escape Alana was a bit hard to buy into. And here is where I think it would have been helpful to have cut some unnecessarily long scenes pertaining to her actions in the present and fleshed out what she had been going through the eight years after she escaped. That issue aside I did rather enjoy the vigilante justice Alana.
~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
This one is fairly light of secondary characters. We have the evil kidnapper and a fellow captive, but other than those two this book was mainly focused on Jacob and Alana.
~HEAT LEVEL~
Low. There really wasn’t many “romance” type sex scenes in this one. Mostly A LOT of rape and cruelty. Blood. Knives. Whips. Pain. I didn’t go into this one expecting unicorns farting rainbows so I wasn’t bothered by the lack of “love” scenes. The scenes we got fit the overall tone of the book.
~ANGST LEVEL~
Low. This wasn’t an angsty book in the traditional sense. Obviously, it was a captive book and so there was drama and angst surrounding that. Most of the characters in this one were majorly messed up, so again, we get angst because of that. Jacob was a virgin. Alana was a virgin. There was no OW drama. There was some OM drama.
~IN THE END~
I liked it. This was my first time reading this author and I will definitely be keeping my eyes peeled to see what she has up her sleeve next. This was a heavy read with A LOT of triggers. It will make your stomach turn in parts. It will make you cry. It will make you cringe. It will even make you cheer and smile at the end. Therefore yours truly is going to give this one a solid thumb and a half up.
Well goodness what a little gem this book turned out to be. Went into it totally blind. Let me warn you, if you have triggers or don’t like to read dark books, please stay away from this one. Or at least read the warning:
Warning: This book is full of triggers. It’s wicked dark, with created evil falling in love. People die. They are hurt horribly. The bad guys get away, and there is no apology for it. Hardcore trigger within these pages.
Alana was an all-American high school student. Living in the all-American suburb town. Just got the big yes from her father that he would be able to take her to the father-daughter dance. Life is GOOD. Walking to school, high on life, thinking of her blueberry pop tart…
Jacob has been raised by the devil himself. Never leaving the house except with his father. Never going to school, always homeschooled. Has been raised that women are brought into the house for the sole purpose of becoming a ‘toy’.
When “the devil” himself promises Jacob, a new toy is coming and will be Jacob’s toy only, it’s exciting to think his father deems him worthy of his own toy now. What Jacob has learned though is that when father tells you one thing, it’s not necessarily going to happen.
The journey is not a pleasant one.
Can these two survive? If they do survive, will they be able to live a ‘normal’ life after what they’ve gone through?

It’s a huge problem in the world. Children’s pics on milk cartons, missing columns of newspapers, on tv, flyers on posts. So many kikid go missing , they either run away or are abducted daily. I often wonder what happened to them.
Well we know what happened to Alana, who was accosted by a stranger asking for time.
Though her goosebumps tell her Get away from him, Alana. Run , she ignores Hythe gruff voice and keeps walking, but the predator catches her
She’s kidnapped !!
The abductors using her as his fucktoy !
“You are mine. Your body. Your pussy. All mine. I am going to train you, mold you, and break you. And if you ever, ever dream of escaping me, remember this: You are Alana Masters. Your parents are Alan and Barbara Masters. You live at 3412 West Monroe Street, and you have a younger brother. If you step one foot out of line, little girl, I will kill them all. Their blood will be on your hands.”
All his Empire of CruelVille will go to his Heir-In-Training, to his son Jacob. He’s a soft soul who’s shell is beaten into stone so he may have mercy in his heart but is being trained to be ruthless.
He is constantly ridiculed by his father into becoming a monster and treat all women as whores!!
In the chambers underneath they have
Meat Hook
The Witch’s Redemption.
The Bitch’s Punishment
His encounter with Lani Girl is very poignant and merciful. They form a bond over time, while she’s being subjected to innumerable cruelties at the hands of his Dad.
The book changes halfway through , where it leaps about 8 years.
I don’t wanna give anything away, but I’ll tell ya this – in terms of darkness, it was more gruesome and cruel. There’s very less heart, which is totally in sync with the kinda story it is. A horror tale of bad side of the world where sex slaves are imprisoned, tortured and raped.
Many triggers for sensitive readers, so read at your own discretion.
I felt more for Jacob than for Alana, if that’s saying something. My heart bled when he bled under his father.being a mom to a son, THAT was quite tough for me.
4.5 Saviour & Vigilante stars

I must say this first and foremost….. PLEASE head the Warning if you’re not sure you enjoy Dark romance novels…
That being said!!!! Whispers in the Dark will take you away from all the rainbows and unicorn romances you have ever read. This Novel is dark, twisted and delicious, and I inhaled this story barely being able to set it down to sleep.
I’ve been a fan of LeTeisha’s darker read for some time, but this story blows EVERYTHING out of the water. The depth of these characters are extreme and the way that they come alive within these pages connected me to Jacob and Alana in an extremely unique way!!!
I’m not sure what to say about this book without giving too much away, but I will say will ABSOLUTE surety that Jacob and Alana’s story NEEDED to be told and it’s told in such a manner that you can’t help but to loathe and love them at the same time!!
Darkness Perfection is what Whispers in the Dark was and these characters will stay with me.
