They’re sassy, flawed, and so easy to relate to, you’ll be begging to enter their circle of friends!Whispers at Seaside by Addison Cole is the sweet edition of New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster’s steamy romance novel Seaside Whispers. The story … The story conveys all of the passion you expect between two people in love, without any explicit scenes or harsh language.
In WHISPERS AT SEASIDE…
Having a mad crush on her boss’s son, Matt Lacroux—an intriguing mix of proper gentleman and flirtatious bad boy—is probably not the smartest idea for single mother Mira Savage. Especially when the company, and her job, is already on shaky ground. But as a Princeton professor, Matt’s life is hours away from Mira’s home on Cape Cod, keeping him safely in the fantasy-only zone. And as a single mother to six-year-old Hagen, with a floundering company to save, fantasies are all she has time for.
With hopes of becoming dean off the table, and too many months of longing for a woman who lived too far away to pursue, Matt’s publishing contract couldn’t have come at a better time. He heads home to Cape Cod on a brief sabbatical, intent on starting his book, and finally getting his arms around sweet, beautiful Mira.
A surprise encounter leads to midnight confessions. The more time Matt and Mira spend together, the deeper their relationship grows, and the love and attention Matt showers on Hagen is more than she has ever dreamed of. But Matt’s sabbatical is only temporary, and Mira’s not saving his father’s company so she can leave it behind. Will their whispers of love be enough for one of them to change their life forever?

I purchased a copy of the steamy novel Seaside Summers book 8: Seaside Whispers: Matt and Mira by Melissa Foster and this review was given freely.
A fitting conclusion to the Lacroux family Seaside romances containing a wonderful group of friends, some humor and a lot of steamy scenes. Dissatisfied Princeton professor Matt takes a sabbatical in Seaside to write a book, celebrate the triple wedding of his siblings, help try to save his father’s hardware store, and to have a closer relationship with both his family and the woman he fantasizes about, his father’s employee, single mother Mira.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Matt Lacroux reminded me that I may have lived in Massachusetts my whole life but that I’ve missed something since I’ve never been to Orleans. Now that I have a little more time to myself, I just may have to change that. And if you’ve been following this series you may want to go out and explore yourself.
Mira Savage doesn’t realize she wants the same thing as Matt. She’s at the point in her life where she wants to make some changes. She has a cute little boy who will steal both your heart and the scenes he’s in. He’s smart and you almost want to be there to watch him grow up because you can tell right away that he’s going to steal some girl’s heart.
The author may have removed a lot of the “heat” in her story but some of the adult conversation was very interesting. She was also very nice to her readers by including some characters from previous books. One thing she’s very good at is making all her characters believable and people that you want to be friends with. Spring may be the season for rebirth but Summer is the time to recharge and reconnect.
There’s just something about having time to get away with family and friends. We have a chance to decompress and reconnect with the people we love. It’s also a time when we seem to give ourselves permission to get a little silly. It’s also a great time to reread some of those books that you enjoyed so much and you’re looking to get your vacation reads ready. What better way to do that than to take books that center around vacation destinations?
Hagen made me both hungry and disappointed. While he’s having man time with Matt they go out and eat. It’s one thing I miss when I go to a seaside town because my food allergy gets in my way. In one respect it’s a way of eating a little healthier but when I eat out after a day at the beach there’s just something about fried fish or fried clams that just speaks vacation and seaside. In that one particular scene between these two boys, I could practically smell their food – even made my stomach growl.
With all the books, in this series, that I want to take on vacation I think I’m going to have to take the Summer off. I want to be able to enjoy reconnecting with the characters – like reconnecting with friends. I don’t know about you but when on vacation I don’t want to read a story that’s going to bring me down. This author never does that to me. She has me wanting to belong to this group – sitting there while they tell their stories and bringing everyone up-to-date on everything they’ve been doing since we last saw each other. One thing I’ll have to remember to pack is a lot of tissue because there are endings that will make you happy and leave you with a tear in your eye.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Whispers at Seaside is college professor Matt Lacroux and single mom Mira Savage’s romantic journey. This book is a wonderful friends to lovers’ romance with all the feels. The characters and the themes of the importance of family and friends drew me in to the story. The relationship which developed between Mira, Matt and Hagen enchanted me.
Matt Lacroux and Mira Savage met at an engagement party a year ago. The couple is attracted to each other but have remained friends because he teaches at Princeton and Mira works and lives in Seaside, Massachusetts. A three- month sabbatical provides Matt the opportunity to return home to reconnect with his family and explore his feelings for Mira and her son Hagen. Loved that Matt recognized that he needed to spend time with his Dad, sister and brothers. Matt understands that the time away from academia would enable him to reassess his priorities, slow down, explore his feelings for Mira and develop a positive relationship with Hagen. I liked that Matt was a strong, thoughtful, intelligent man and not as alpha as his brothers.
Mira Savage is a busy single mother. She works as a bookkeeper for Lacroux hardware and is devoted to her son Hagen. I loved that Mira was captivated by the charming Matt Lacroux and that Matt was intrigued by Mira as well. One of my favorite scenes is when Hagen, Matt and Matt’s brother Pete and father build a raft together. Loved that Matt showed Hagen how to research the building process, secure the logs with rope and choose the logs for the raft. Hagen was an important part of the team. I enjoyed every conversation between Matt and Hagan and loved seeing them bond together.
Addison Cole has created a great support system with the Seaside women. The author has created a core group of women who support each other’s dreams and passions. Each of the characters is unique and brings a different perspective to a situation. I enjoy that they support each other and tackle situations together. Loved that the Seaside friends saw merit in Mira’s proposal about Neil Lacroux’s business and supported her dream.
I adored the romance and the feel good aspect of this book. The characters are relatable. Matt is protective and has problems to resolve while Mira has trust issues to work through. The author does a fabulous job with both characters; the reader understands Mira’s desire and her hesitation to give her heart. Matt wants to romance Mira. He wants to be her everything-and he adores her child. Loved the ending of the book—a couple of great plot twists challenges the couple. The ending was fabulous—and yes Addison Cole aka Melissa Foster—you made me cry! (Again!!)
Whispers at Seaside is an engaging, feel good romance. Great characters, romance and family make the perfect summer read. And I loved that Hagan almost stole the show!
Whispers by Seaside is a good book. Though for me it I think it was more romance than liked but it was not bad. It was written well. I enjoyed it involved the family but it seems like this was more Matt’s story then Mira.
It had a lot to do with Matt and Mira getting together more. Matt is reconnecting with his family. He is also getting involved in Hagen’s and Mira’s lives more. I am hoping to see more of Matt building relationships with his family more. I know he was building a relationship with Hagen throughout the book then with Mira. I would have like to see the relationship of the build up with Mira throughout the book. I know we did see a part of it.
We hear more about these wedding that are taking place in this book. I would have been nice to find out more about Matt and his family more and their loves ones. Mira seems to worry more about her future and about Hagen’s.
Will it last? Will Matt stay at his job or will he leave it? You will need to read the book to find out.
This is truly a beautiful story!
It’s jumped to the #1 spot, as my
favorite of the series! It is a romantic,
sexy, funny, & heartwarming story.
Matt, is the last of the Lacroux siblings
to be single. He wants love in his life,
like they all have. Mira, & her son Hagen, met Matt last year at his brother’s engagement party. Their connection was instant. Matt, is a professor at Princeton.
Mira, a single mom. She works for his father, at the family hardware store.
Every time he is in town to visit, Matt spends time with Mira & her son Hagen. Matt has taken a three month sabbatical from work. He wants to do research for his book, spend time with his family, but the main reason is to be with Mira & Hagen.
You will fall in love with Matt & Mira.
But, hold on to your heart, Hagen is the most adorable, & smartest six year old. This story really pulled all my heartstrings. The emotions, the humor
& their chemistry pulled me in,
& kept me hooked.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR EVERYONE!!!
Whispers at Seaside is the tenth book in the Sweet with Heat Seaside Summer series. This was another amazing book by this author. I loved Matt and Mira’s story, and I enjoyed the narrator. I highly recommend it.
Audiobook Review… Addison Cole did an amazing job writing the perfect book for Andi Arndt and Sebastian York to narrate. Andi brings Mira to life with her sweet voice, her loving mother voice, and the sexy, shy voice reserved just for Matt. Sebastian does an amazing job of bringing Matt’s serious professor side to life while keeping him sexy and loving for the scenes with Mira. I could feel these characters come to life as they spent time together, learned how to love each other, and how to become a family for Hagen.
eBook Review…Oh, Addison Cole, you write such amazing stories with wonderful characters. The Seaside Girls are my favorite friendship ever. They are so strong, sweet, and naughty. They pull pranks, tell secrets to each other, love each other, and love their men so deeply. Each time I pick up a Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summer book I know that I will get to catch up with women.
Whispers at Seaside is the story of Professor Matt Lacroux and single mother Mira Savage. The instant chemistry between Matt and Mira is off the charts. There is no doubt that they belong together but there is also Hagen. Hagen is the best character in the story. As Mira’s son, he is the most important person in Mira’s life and anyone who wants to be friends with Mira must be friends with her son. Matt comes in and becomes friends with Hagen from the very beginning, he includes him in discussions, dates, and activities without being put out (heart melting).
This book in the series is now my favorite. Matt Lacroux won me over just by his interactions with Hagen. The heat is perfect, the sweetness is wonderful, and the love is just right.
5 Stars for “Whispers at Seaside” an eBook ARC Review
This is a super sweet read! *Swoon!*
Matt is absolutely adorable and sweet. Mira is a wonderful, strong woman and mother! You must read their story about love, family and determining what you really want from life!
Whispers at Seaside(Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers) by Addison Cole Matt Lacroux is a University Professor who has taken a sabbatical and came back to Seaside to work on a book, where he just so happens to reconnect with Mira who he met a year previous and who also works in his fathers hardware store,
Mira Savage is a single mother, and her son Hagen is her number one priority, finally after a year of messaging with Matt he is back in town and she doesn’t know what to make of their relationship as he is only to be home for 3 months or so.
They both have an amazing and intense chemistry toward each other, and whilst Matt is the perfect gentleman he always takes into consideration Hagen in everything he does and say with and around Mira. For me it made me love Matt even more as most guys probably would run a mile at starting a relationship with a single mother (I may be wrong) but he gets on well with Hagen and shows an interest in him and they do “guy stuff” together which I think just sealed with deal for Mira.
Matt just seems to be the most absolutely perfect guy out there and everything he does throughout this book just makes you love him even more.
This was a great friends to lovers story and whilst it was Matt and Mira’s story as usual we got to read about the characters from Seaside. (less)
Read the ebook first and months later I have listen to the audio. Ardnt and York brings the characters to life. Great narration.
You find more to fall in love with . . .
Whispers at Seaside was a dual POV with a great duo narration (Ardnt and York) that makes you want to step in and get more out of it all. This way you have more than just the surface of things. You can see the heart of it all and the deep emotional effect that go with both Mira and Matt. There was so much love, compassion, passion, emotion, and more.
You have found a sweet romance that filled with tender moments and an undeniable passion without the explicit nature. No matter the context this was on sexy, hot professor and a single, sassy mother. I have to give kudos and more to Melissa Foster. She gives a beautiful written story with each new offering. I have over the course of this last year fallen in love with her characters from the complete Love in Bloom multi-series series. Each new couple have the own individual struggles, needs, desires, hopes and dreams. This one was no exception.
I fell head over heels in love with Mira and Matt. Mira stole my heart because of her sense of self and her soft pride and respect for who she was and what she wanted. Matt, Mira and Hagen have a place with me. It was their interaction with each other that gave the setting a bit more. Matt and Mira both were dealing with a lot of things and the gradual growing relationship gave a bit of stability to their friendship. Having both sides of their perspectives shared made the story that much more enjoyable. We were able to get down to the heart of things.
I think I’ve mentioned this before, but when it comes to romance, I love Addison Cole. When I read one of her books I go to my happy place, because the characters are so wonderful.
In this book we have Mira and Matt. They are so real and so fabulous oh and they have the most incredible chemistry. I like they have a little dance going on, trying to get together. They both like each other and they are just waiting for the right time to get together.
Like all of Addison’s books you get family and humor and a little bit of spice. You also get friendship. Matt is really the kind of guy we all want in our lives. He cares not only about Mira, he cares about her son, in such a way that is almost too good to be true. Heck this guy also has a tendency to save people in distress. He’s one step below having a halo. No joke. This could be annoying if you didn’t love him and want to have him for yourself.
The real star of this book is Mira’s son. I love love loved this kid. He was a little brainy boy. Totally adorable. I loved that their vacation involved visiting libraries. Seriously though, he needed to go to TN. Cos there is a fabulous library in Brentwood. He’s totally precious.
With each book, I think I have a new favorite, but because of Mira and her son Hagen, I’m almost 100 % sure that this one is my absolute favorite.
When I read a new book in this Sweet with Heat series I feel like I’m visiting with old friends. The Seaside girls and their antics always make the read even more fun.
I loved watching the relationship build between Matt and Mira but Hagen was the icing on the cake. Matt and Mira independently are both great people and I think that made it even easier to root for them to be together.
This series is so heartwarming and this book so much more because of the family that was built by love. I can’t wait to see what the Seaside group will do next.
Every family with multiple siblings has one – that “serious” child, the RESPONSIBLE one, the studious one. Matt Lacroux may have his “bad boy” side, mainly based on looks, but overall, he was the sibling least likely to get into trouble. Well, except for his penchant for saving strangers’ lives.
Mira Savage is the responsible single parent. Her life is centered around her son’s needs and schedule. Hagen is both your typical sweet, innocent six years old and a precocious, potential budding genius.
Mira has a large heart and big dreams, but puts her own needs and emotions aside whenever her son is involved, and as a single mom, Mira comes as a package deal.
When these two meet, is love at first sight possible? It takes a year to find out.
Even being a sweet, clean romance, and these two being the responsible, caring about others before themselves, type, this book packs a good deal of heat! It is a romantic read about not ruining a friendship but being unable to deny the spark of something more. There is a lot of insinuation and fantasy to bide the time until things can get physical.
All your favorite Seaside residents do make an appearance. It is great to “come home” again.
I so loved this book. Matt is a sexy professor and writer with the muscles and glasses to show it. He is also so sweet, caring, and protective. Mira is the smart, pretty, hard working single mother, that works in Matt’s father’s hardware store. Then, there is Hagen, Mira’s most adorable, and smart little boy, who is now one of the guys. This is the most wonderful story of the three of them coming together. A family? Then, there are the Seaside Girls that always makes these books so fun to read. This book is so sweet, still with a little heat, and laughter. I liked this book so much, that after reading it, I bought the audiobook, and experienced it again, this time through the voices of Andi Arndt and Sebastian York, two outstanding narrators. I very highly recommend this book, whether you read it or listen to it.
Matt thinks he knows exactly what he wants from life, never believing he will find love. Mira has her beautiful, smart son and is distrustful of men. Their love and relationship is a slow, burning simmer that had the potential to change all their plans. Matt is wonderful and loves Hagan add much as Mira. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Mira Savage had been head over heels in-love with her boss’s son ever since they connected a year ago during one of their friend’s wedding. But she never acted upon her feelings because she already got her hands full with her adorable son, Hagen. Besides, Matt Lacroux wouldn’t have time to glance at her, with all his busy schedule as a professor in Princeton, plus a new book deal hogging all his time… Would he?
Whispers of love and hope and pure unadulterated joy – that’s what I got after reading Whispers of Love by Addison Cole. I’ve been reading this Sweet With Heart: Seaside Summer series for the past year and I have always fallen for the men and women of Seaside. I want myself to be included in this book, I want to experience all those wonderful and impossible and exciting things that the characters had been through.
The pranks, the chunky-dunking, the voices heard over the window in the middle of the night or at the early break of dawn, those house fixtures that needed repair – everything appealed to me the way only Addison Cole delivered. Whenever I needed something to cheer me up amidst the chaos in my so-called life, I can always count on Cole’s Seaside sisters or circle of friends. A highly recommended summer read!
If you are looking for a fantastic, cute summer beach read you just have to read Addison Cole’s Whispers at Seaside! You will fall in love with Matt, Mira and most definitely little Hagen
Now, I will tell you it is last in her Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers series but reading it without reading the others does not take away from this story. You can definitely read it as a stand alone but don’t worry …as soon as you read this one you will, without a doubt, find yourself reading all the others that go before this book. I know I am. Addison is a new author for me… She is now one of my go to authors. Excellent book. Highly recommend!
Another not-to-be-missed story from Addison Cole. This is the tenth book in the Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers series and they just keep getting better. It’s the story of Matt and Mira. Matt is the last of the Lacroux brothers to find love… but has he? He has taken a leave of absence from his teaching position at Princeton to come home and write his book. Mira is a single mom (of an adorable 6-year-old boy) who works for Matt’s dad at their local family hardware store. They met the summer before and would occasionally see each other on Matt’s trips home to visit family but neither could get the other off of their mind. There is something there – but neither want to admit it to each other because of their past circumstances as well as the fact that Matt is only going to be in the area for a short time. But… as time passes, Matt begins to realize he is no longer as happy with his teaching position as he thought he was and he is beginning to enjoy the time he is able to spend with both Mira as well as her little boy. As the story progresses, they continue to become closer as they are also working on a project/idea that Mira has come up with to help try to save the family business. It’s a fantastic story that draws you in and you want nothing more than for these two to get out of their own way, admit their true feelings and become a family. It’s such a good read!! You will not be disappointed.
Matt, Mira and Hagen – fabulous!
This is Matt and Mira’s (and Mira’s son Hagen’s) story. And it is fabulous!
Mira is a single mother struggling with 2 jobs, trying to raise the smartest little boy ever on her own. With everything going on in her life, her lowest priority is herself. Then Matt comes back to town. Mira has had a crush on him forever. But Matt works as a Princeton professor hoping to become Dean. But it doesn’t look like that dream has any chance of reality in the near future. Matt is frustrated, but he enjoys writing and he is finding spending time with his family is fulfilling a need he didn’t realize was missing. When he starts spending more and more time with Mira and her son Hagen, he realizes, she is what has been missing from his previous life and he goes all in to the relationship. Mira is working one of the jobs as bookkeeper for Matt’s father at his hardware store. Mira has an idea to create a co-op with other small businesses to increase their buying power and help them all from going under. Matt convinces Mira and his father to give the idea a go. A lot of hard work, help from the Seaside girls, and support from Matt make the idea workable and Mira has to convince the other businesses to give it a try. Along the way, Matt and Mira and Hagen fall in love and become a family.
I loved this book because of the relationships slowly building, and especially the love between Mira and her son, Mira and Matt, and particularly Matt and Hagen. It was wonderful to read how Hagen and Matt connected and how Matt did so many things to make Hagen feel loved.
This is my favourite of the Seaside Summers Sweet with Heat series!
Sweet with heat: Seaside Summers. Matt Lacroux and Mira Savage are and incredible mix of bad boy and single mom. They just have wrangle a whole host of issues to see the end to a happy ever after. Matt a Princeton professor whom lives a couple hours away. Mira a single mother whom works for Matt’s dad. As always Addison does an amazing job of bringing in emotional roller coasters to keep you hooked till the end. This is a great summer read.
