A tortured soul meets a damaged family… are agony to my healing heart, but I cherish the sound of them, for that’s the only time I ever hear my beautiful daughter speak. Since her father died two years ago, she’s grown quiet and withdrawn. Cat’s Valley was to be our new beginning, a place where my family and I can heal, but what we find there is so much more.
Scars mar his body. Pain has left him in pieces…
Four years ago, I lost the two things I cherished most in the world. They were ripped from my arms in the most painful and cruel way. Since then, I’ve kept to myself, preferring to stay away from the pitying looks and murmured rumors. Everything changed when she and her children barged into my life. It was an accident, and I don’t deserve them, but now that they’re here, I’m not sure I can let them go.

Absolutely loved this book. Very moving and just plain good. You could visualize the characters and empathize with their situations. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Great story.
Beautiful, wonderful story!!!! Couldn’t have been told better…great job!!!!
This was an unusual book and really quite a good read. I was not sure I would like it but actually it really held my interest throughout. It provided some caution for people who might have been burn victims which almost made me not read it. I am not one for gory details or grisly descriptions. But it was acceptable and presented in a realistic manner. Definitely recommend!
The gentleman was sensitive to his surroundings. Even though he was experiencing many challenges, body image, grief, and poor self-worth, he was able to get out of his head to help others with their pain.
This is a romantic tear jerker about two people who have lost much but find happiness and solace in one another. Well written. Not really my cup of tea.
This was the first time I’ve read something from this author. Both lead characters had suffered the loss of a loved one, with children being involved. I consider this book a rainy day read. It drew me in, and kept me engaged and interested.
I enjoyed this book so much I didn’t want it to end. A beautiful story I felt compassion for the girl and the guy I felt sorry for him . Beautifully written.
One of the best I have read.
Beautiful story of the recovery of a family from tragedy to renewal of hope and faith. The romance added depth to the renewal process.
Truly enjoyed this book with its wonderful characters. Heartbreaking but inspirational and it certainly makes one think.
This book is amazing. The characters are very relatable. The journey for the main characters is a slow build to a happy ending.
This book has a powerful message; contains strong characters; and, most of all kept me reading as tears gripped by heart. There are broken people, sad parents and helpful friends throughout this story-line. He was burned so severely he nearly died and people constantly stared at the scars; her husbands sudden death left the children changed and one no longer speaking one word. A whispered prayer in the night gave new hope. My heart nearly stopped when I read the words of a heartbroken young girl. Wow.
This story broke my heart!!! What they all went through to get where they ended up, just broke my heart.
A chance meeting at the grocery store when he never goes out of the house, he meets her.
Alex and Gwen just keep getting thrown into each other paths. Alex never leaves the cabin, and Gwen has to keep on moving for the kids.
One snowy day, Gwen is taking the kids back home, and she gets into an accident.
Who shows up at the car to help her out, even though he doesn’t want to? Alex. That’s right!
They get snowed in on the mountain with Alex in the cabin. He’s not been around kids that much so with the two that Gwen have is so out of his comfort zone.
But with Kelsey having Mutism, he hears her at night saying her prayers. Then one fateful night, she actually talks to Alex directly. Not any one else. Alex is surprised that she felt comfy enough to come to him to talk for the first time.
Gwen misses her little girl, but lets her be her. She has Daniel her son to think about as well.
Alex is grieving and fighting his own demons. Can this family that has fallen into his lap help him?
Can all four of them grieve and be able to have a start over?
Christmas comes around, and Gwen and the kids are able to get back to their house, but Alex has closed himself off again. Can the visit Gwen pays Alex open him up again?
The kids and the doggy Alex has have an breakable bond, and Gwen knows just what to get them for Christmas to help them. A puppy from Alex’s dog.
I really enjoyed the storyline, and everything the happened in the book. Yes it’s emotional, it’ll break your heart, but it’ll also piece it back together!
I’ve never read anything by Alex Grayson before but after reading Whispered Prayers of a Girl I’m definitely gonna be checking out her other work.
This was an fabulous read. The author did give us a little nudge at the beginning of the book that we should have tissues at hand while reading and while Alexander and Gwendolyn’s story broke my heart at times, the tears were kept at bay by the hope and strength that I saw in the characters and the chance at some kind of redemption that seemed to be hiding just out of reach.
This book is so much more than a broken family and a broken man finding each other. It’s full of pain granted, but there’s also trust, belief, love, affection and the spark of hope that comes when we think we catch the beginnings of something, even when we’ve hit rock bottom and can’t see a way out.
Along with Gwen and Alexander, Kelsey and Daniel were lovely characters, as was Gigi and her wee family…. With a small supporting cast and a well written, believable story, I have to say that WPofG is one of my favourite reads this year so far.
I’m giving this smashing book 5*.
How many times can your heart be ripped out and stomped on! Holy crap. This is a new to me Author but she sure knows how to break you. I can’t wait to read more of her work!
Two people find a connection amidst heartbreaking loss and grief. Alexander finds himself struggling with crippling guilt after the loss of his wife and newborn baby. After running off a snowy road, Gwen and her kids find themselves stranded with Alexander until the roads are clear. Gwen struggles with the sudden death of her husband, but is especially broken by her daughter’s silence. Some parts of the book were difficult to read emotionally, but I truly understood why each character had their hangups. It was sweet seeing Gwen’s kids develop a bond with Alexander, despite his insecurities. The HEA made all the tears with it!
Gah! This book had me in tears two pages in! I absolutely love the way Ms. Grayson weaves her stories so completely and has you so enthralled, you can’t put the book down.
Alexander’s story of why he is the way he is completely annihilated me. It was so beyond anything I could comprehend, but I empathized with him deeply. To suffer his losses would be devastating.
Gwen is the sweetest woman with the most caring and compassionate soul. She never really sees Alexander’s scars, only who he is in his heart. What she has endured, not only with the loss of Will, but with losing so much more because of his death had me sobbing for her.
These two broken people needed each other to heal. This book was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. I loved this book and can’t recommend it enough!
