My first Theresa’s book and certanly not the last. I had such fun reading it.
If you’re looking for a clean and sweet Western, this book is for you.
A spirited mail order bride adventure. Ella wanted a new, respectable life, away from the dance hall saloon she’s been working in. Signing up to be the mail order bride to a dignified banker, in the west, seems like the answer she seems. A local gunslinger agrees to accompany her.
Entertaining, witty read that I couldn’t put down till through! Looking forward to next book in series.
Voluntarily read ARC for honest review.
Dancehall girl Ella Raine is determined to change her life and be respectable. She will go west to a town called Whiskey River as a mail order bride.
Colton Hill will not allow Ella to travel all that way alone. It’s too dangerous. Hopefully he can talk some sense into her on the way.
A trip into the “Wild West” where people can start a new life if they are strong enough.
Lots of fun and great characters that we will meet again in the rest of the series.
I look forward to reading them.
A dance hall girl in New York wants a different life wants a new life. Colt happens to be in the saloon when this guy gets touchy feely with her and he comes to the rescue. But she signs up as a mail order bride so to speak and things turn out differently than she wants. Pretty good story.
Whiskey River is a good old fashioned western with strong men and even stronger women. I can’t even imagine packing up my clothes and going west to marry someone I had never met. Ella is a dance hall girl who wants to be respectable and Colton is a gunslinger who has fallen in love with. The book is fast paced and we’ll written. Dallas King is the protagonist who ordered Ella. Read this book to see how everything works out in the end you won’t be disappointed if you are a true lover of western romance.
I just love Ella Raines. She’s smart, feisty and does take guff from anyone, especially arrogant men! She and Colton have some challenges to overcome in Whiskey River.
Whats not to love? Romance in the old west or New York I should say. Ella is tired of being a dance girl in a saloon (not a prostitute). She wants a new start and wants to be respectable. So, she signs up to be a main order bride. Colton has had eyes on her since he met her. He’s been quiet about it and damn is that man sweet or isn’t he? I was in love with him myself. Ella is stubborn though and she’s got her own feelings for him. She doesnt think he can give her that kind of life. A respectable one. He is a gunslinger after all. Blind as a bat she is. After traveling with her she starts to understand but its too late right? Then she meets her groom to be. Arrogant ass is more like it. Is it too late to change her mind? Will Dallas allow her?
I think for a novella short story this was a good book. I do wish there were more details between the townsfolk and knowing about Whisky River itself. There really wasnt much about the town or its people. Even Dallas we didnt know much about him other than he kinda owns a lot of the town and is a jerk. If this is to be a series and I hope it will hopefully we’ll get more details of this town and what will become of Dallas. He wasnt the nicest man ever…like at all. Could he possibly be a redeeming character? I dont know. Even some of the worst characters can be taught a lesson and the error of their ways with the right woman ha but I dont know about him. Enjoyable book though.
Fun story about finding what really matters. I love the spirit of the main character. It was difficult in those times for many. Finding a respectable place in that era nearly impossible. Very refreshing to see a version where the woman really could choose.
Is there anything better than a romantic western in a time when things were wild, men were strong, women were stronger, when it was you and the land and rugged men. If so I haven’t found anything. I think one of my all time favorite books are mail order brides, nothing ever goes as planned, there are always wonderful twists to keep you interested along with such interesting characters you can relate to. I am so hooked and can’t get enough. The author gives you a wonderful clean read of a headstrong woman who is determined to turn her life around. This is a time when it is hard for a woman to find a good job, sometimes you had to take what you could get. It doesn’t mean they are bad women just doing what they had to do to get by. Ella became a dancehall girl but refuses to do anything more. She has had enough of the life and decides to become a mail order bride.
This is a time when men look out for women keeping them safe and treating them like they should. Colton is a true gentleman He might be a gunslinger but he is very protective and goes with Ella to keep her safe as she travels to meet her groom. I fell in love with Colton from the start and was really cheering for him as he fell in love with Ella. Wish I could say the same for Drake as I got to know him and saw who he really was I wanted to pull Ella right out of the book. He was not a very nice person and I was glad when Ella saw that.
I found this to be a fun, exciting, suspenseful read that is well written with wonderful characters. I really liked how the romance builds up with just the right about of chemistry, there is steam along with romance that just melts your heart. I enjoyed the twists and turns, the sense of danger and the author’s style of writing she had me chuckling and laughing out loud. It was a book I couldn’t put down and read at one setting. I enjoyed it so much that I saw what a deal the pre order is on the next one and bought it. I can’t wait to read it and see what the author has in store for me. What a great deal 99 cents on this and 99 cent on the pre order you can’t go wrong with a deal like that.
