Still reeling from the unexpected sale of the land she and her horses live on, horse rescuer Kelsey Blaine is frantic when she comes home to find her possessions already boxed up and her house being bulldozed without any notice. Normally calm and kind, Kelsey becomes furious and impulsively cuts a privacy fence to confront the culprit–her mysterious neighbor, Joe. Joe Kilcoyne is in a desperate … desperate place. He guards his secrets and hides from the world for a reason. He’s the hottest topic of speculation around Whiskey River, but no one has ever dared to get close to him. That is, until fiery Kelsey comes barging straight into his life.
The last thing Joe needs is for Kelsey to breach his defenses and make him confront his past. But when her sunny, open, and determined personality collide with a haunted man with no idea how to reconnect with the world, the sparks that ignite shock them both.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book.
This book was captivating! I couldn’t put it down until I finished it!
While the book starts a little slow, it more than makes up for it. Wonderful characters that you come to care for. I would recommend.
Had a lot of humor, romantic, enjoyed the story.
great read
Loved the whole Whiskey River series!!
Remembering this story puts a huge smile on my face! I love the double entendre of her rescuing. I love Crazy Joe. I love the townspeople. I’ll read this one again next year.
A thoroughly absorbing read! Not only does it cover animal and child abuse and neglect. It has this river of hope and redemption running through the story line. The characters are relatable and their progress almost tangible.
Great book! I am currently reading the 3rd of this series and all of them are well written with a wonderful story.
Absolutely loved this story and wish it could have gone on and on….great job.
an unusual hero makes the story more satisfying
Kelsey is an excellent therapist. She rehabilitates mistreated horses. Crazy Joe has a troubled past and is trying to find some answers to his problem. The author is very astute in the assessments made in this in this book.
READ IT!
One of Justine Davis’ best.
This is one of those books I will keep around to re-read. There were some problems with editing (as in typos etc), but you can read around it and still enjoy the story. The female lead is hard-headed and vocal. The male lead is sulking and a loner. They clash but horses draw them together.
AMAZING! What a wonderful story; couldn’t put it down. I can not put into words why or how I liked this so much, but goodness the characters had me HOOKED from the beginning.
Loved this book so much! Justine Davis is a fantastic writer!
Whiskey River Rescue is a fabulous contemporary romance by Justine Davis. Ms. Davis has delivered a book that is well-written and furnished it with stellar characters. Kelsey is running a horse rescue on a shoestring budget when the land is sold from under her. Declan is a recluse writer that the town only knows as Crazy Joe. Kelsey and Declan’s story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle, action and just a touch of angst. I’m not a fan of angst-filled books, but the level was low enough in this book that you recognized it, but it wasn’t so overwhelming you wanted to gag. Kudos to Ms. Davis for knowing when to rein it in. I enjoyed every page of Whiskey River Rescue and look forward to reading more from Justine Davis in the future. Whiskey River Rescue is book 1 of the Whiskey River Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I rarely tear up in books but this one really got me. The characters were so quirky and interesting and the ending had me all emotional and teary…in the best possible way.
Great read. Wonderful characters. Uplifting story
Fun with a good twist
